Site problems in Safari 3.04-OSX

hi:
a customer has reported problems in this site i'm working in,
when
browsing with Safari 3.04 in OSX:
http://www.meiac.es/meiac-zkm/
(some
elements aren't yet translated). it works ok in Safari 2.0.4
i'd really appreciate if somebody with Safari 3.04-OSX can
confirm to
shed some light on the problem
does anybody know a good source to know how much people use
each Safari
version in OS X?
tia,

i browsed the remote site

i can't believe, it' was driving me crazy! but hear this, i
updated my
ancient G4 PPC to OSX 10.4.11 wich installs Safari 3.0.4
(523.12) and
when i visited the site it worked fine!?
well, in fact just one problem but i think it's a browser
bug. if you
load the page in a window small enough to show the vertical
scroll bar
and then select a menu item w/o enough content to need the
scroll bar,
the browser redraws the window incorrectly "forgetting" part
of the
scroll bar as can be seen here:
http://www.meiac.es/meiac-zkm/tests/safari3_mac_bug.php
anyway, i won't be surprised if tomorrow i look at it again
and this bug
has gone

  • Problems with Safari Loading Sites and Photos

For the past week (Feb. 2015) I've experience problems with Safari loading websites on my 2009 20" iMac desktop. Running version OSX Lion 10.7.3  4 GB.   Intel Duo Core 2.66 GHz
Mac also will frequently not upload photos at websites like Yahoo News or Facebook.   It does this throughout the day.
So, I downloaded Chrome, thinking it would be a better browser if Safari is not functioning.  Chrome is just slightly better, and when it won't load a website I get the following error message from Chrome: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET.
I'm debating taking the Mac to the Apple store for diagnosis or repair today, but if anyone else is experiencing similar problems, could you please offer some solutions as to what is going on.
    Thank you.

Unless you have a good reason not to, you should update the OS to version 10.7.5.

  • Top sites and video problems with Safari 4.0 and Snow Leopard

Since installing Snow Leopard, I've had problems with Safari 4.0. My Top Sites page doesn't load anymore, I get a blank white page. Also, video tutorials from Apple's own site will not display the video. I hear the audio portion but do not get video. When I load the same pages in Firefox, they run as they are supposed to. In Leopard, everything was fine. Any help resolving these issues would be appreciated.

Nevermind. After restarting a couple of times, it worked itself out.

    what can I do?

    thanks

i done this, but the problem remains.
I have to wait for updates (for lion and for adobe flash)

When I copy and paste text in facebook, the text looks fine until I hit 'share' or 'comment' to submit it. Firefox then adds indiscriminate line-feeds within the text and it looks nothing like the original text. It makes it very difficult to read and awful to look at.
This does not happen in Safari.

Same problem, 3.6.8 and previous recent versions. I never thought to try another browser but I just pasted into IE and it worked fine. I copied from Firefox to IE and it worked as well. It's just when you paste into Firefox that you get the weird line breaks.

  • Problems with Safari and Firefox (HTTP?)

Problems with Safari and Firefox (HTTP?)
    On a laptop G4, 10.5.8 and Safari 5.02 I experience the following:
On the account of my oldest daughter everything works fine, i.e. wireless internet works and no problems with mail or safari.
On the same laptop, on the account of my other daughter, the wireless is OK, she can mail etc. But safari nor firefox works. It says: can’t find server (whatever site) and in the activity window it looks if safari tries to open files (in the safari preferences-folder) in stead of http. Same applies to Firefox, so maybe it has more to do with HTTP in general?
What goes wrong? What to do? I tried the following on the host terminal (tips from Apple)
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
    and
    defaults delete com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled
    but that did not help,
    Nanne

I'm still wondering why it happens now at this moment in time...
PC does seem to be a bit odd & inconsistent, the few times I've tested with it, at least so far as we content filtering goes; and if I remember rightly, you're not the first to report previously ok settings suddenly preventing some or all internet until pc is switched off altogether.
    It may work when re-enabled

I believe that our “Werbung problem” adds an additional second hyperlink to the pop-up window. This second link is activated whenever you trigger a saved hyperlink to a Mail.com site.
I had the same problem and eliminated it by deleting all bookmarks, hyperlinks and automatic links that take firefox to a mail.com address. So I just deleted all bookmarks I had saved for mail.com. I also changed my home page link because it also went to my email at mail.com. I then did a warm boot, opened firefox and re-saved my bookmarks and homepage to the desired addresses. Good luck.

  • Problems with Safari 3.1.2

Suddenly Safari started to refuse access to any site where some security is involved. Something requiring a log-in type access to web mail etc. After hours working with provider(Comcast) and apple it appears the problem is Safari. I was told to get all updates and reinstall Safari. That is when I found that I could not install any updates from Apple. I get the following message --
    * The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by “Apple”.*
Since I need the Security update before I can install Safari 3.2 -- I can do nothing.
In addition my mail program (Apple v 2.1.3) no longer works. Any attempt to get mail gets the following message --
** There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "DA" or try again. The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "mail.comcast.net" on port 0 timed out.**
There is no problem with settings for account "DA".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Doug

    * The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by “Apple”.*
This would seem to indicate you were trying to install Safari for Leopard, which is signed by Apple, and because you're running Tiger which has no way of authenticating that signature, it won't work. Comcast likes to blame all their problems on Apple, when in fact it really has nothing to do with Apple and there's no need to install or reinstall anything at this point.
Your problem is not with Safari; we need to find out what you're currently running and the specific problem and resolve that, instead. So what specific sites are you trying to access that suddenly don't work anymore, and what version of Safari are you currently running?
Have you tried using Disk Utility to Repair Permissions to see if that will resolve the problem? If not, do that. Also, try creating a new User Account for testing purposes and see if you can connect to those sites with Safari in that account.
In addition my mail program (Apple v 2.1.3) no longer works.
Mail works fine; the problem is either with Comcast's servers, or the way you have your account configured, so we need details for both your Incoming and Outgoing settings, include the server names for both, port numbers Comcast told you to use, authentication method, and SSL status.

  • Why doesn't my javascript site work in Safari? (works on PC/IE)

Can I find a site that details the problems that Safari has in correctly parsing javascript and/or rendering HTML generated by that javascript?
My site has some frames, some document.write()'s, some simple on-the-fly pages with nothing fancy, some pictures, some links, totally not rocket science. It works great on PC/IE but none of the Mac browsers (incl. IE5 and FireFox and especially Safari) will handle it. They kinda sorta run SOME of my script, but they have lots of errors and the site just "doesn't work right" anywhere but in IE on Windows. I didn't use any code that's Windows-specific, either.
I am seriously not going to do a browser detection and write multiple sets of codes for the various browsers (God, how many are there? over a hundred according to w3.org) ... it just ain't gonna happen, so spare me that lecture cuz I've been there before and I ain't going back.
Am I screwed? or does somebody out there actually know how to handle this. Woe to us all, from the lack of standards on the web! How do we put up with it?
I really appreciate any insights and assistance dealing with this. Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Wish I could help you but creating java code is not one of my strengths. I do create the pages on my web site though (using GoLive CS). I'm amazed how differently each browser renders the page. I came across this site via a Google search. It may be germane to your question?
You may have better success though posting your question on the MacFixit Internet forum.

    Hi,
I made the site in iweb, and uploaded it to godaddy. The site crashes in Safari when I click through the pages, making it unusable on any computer for about 5 minutes (but no problems at all using Firefox and IE.)
    The URL is http://sanafit.net/Aron/home.html
I would really appreciate any help. Thank you.

  • Problems with Safari in vista

I'm having some problems with Safari in Vista.
I recently wiped my hard drive, and reinstalled Windows. Anyway reinstalling programs and I've come into a problem.
When I open Safari it gets stuck loading. It does this with any site.
All my other browsers work fine, and even with the firewall and stuff turned off it won't work. It worked fine before, but now it just won't do anything. Not even a page won't display thing.
It just gets stuck. Anyone know how to get it to work? Thanks.

Is java 1.6.0.3 latest version installed?
have you tried removing the two user folders that Safari uses to store prefs, bookmarks, history and cache in? (don't delete, just rename or move aside).
For now, FF 3.0A is probably a better choice until later anyway. There are WebKit latest builds, but I don't know how to use or install those in Windows, but would be 10-19-2007 of the core foundation Safari uses.

  • Quicktime Plugin Issue in Safari on Mac OSX Lion.

(Strange) Safari - Quicktime - issue on Mac OSX Lion (All Updates done - 20/11/2011)
Strange issue with Safari - Quicktime video playing - on Mac OSX Lion (All updates done till 20th Nov 2011 night)
Problem discovery: Tried to view the Apple iPhone 4S Keynote on Apple Website. Strange that Safari does not display any videos from Apple Website.
Following works OK:- You Tube worked fine.
    - Google Chrome worked fine. (It shows the quick time player loading and then displays the video absolutely fine.)
Conclusion: There is some problem with Safari Quicktime Plug-in.
    Strange Discovery:
    - There are two users on the MAC. Logged in with a general user (Non Admin)
    - When tried to view Apple Videos on Safary ... THEY WORKED FINE !!!
    - The user where they donot work is an ADMIN User ... Strange !!!
    System:
    - Mac-Mini 2010 - 8 GB RAM - with OSX Lion fully software updated until 20th Nov 2011 night.
    - DIVX is installed and is also a paid version - registered with DIVX website.
    - VLC is installed.
    - Perian was installed - after problem discovery - uninstalled it - no use.
Please help with a solution if anyone has faced and solved this problem. Sub question is : If DIVX / anyother plug-in causes problems with QuickTime plugin on Safari, why does it affect only one user on the system and not other users on that system ?
    Notes:
    1) There is a similar looking thread on MacRumors here but concluded that required to start a seperate one with clear problem statement.
    2) Apple Forums
    (a) One thread on topic that hints that some 3IVX plug-in can cause issues with Safari Quicktime Plugin: here
    (b) Another thread from Apple Forum, that hints that DIVX causes problems to Safari Quicktime Plug in, Link is Here

Refer to a thread on Apple Discussions Forum itself, Link is HERE; refer to the posting by "Charles Cole",
    Charles Cole
Re: Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
Aug 2, 2011 8:09 PM (in response to Landrix)
Charles writes about DIVX and QuickTime Plugin conflict in Safari:
One thing I've discovered that might help anyone having a Quicktime Plug-in issue. If you have DivX as a codec on your system (usually installed to play .avi files) you'll want to uninstall it so that Sarfari 5.1 will default to the Quicktime Plug-In and not the DivX plug-in. Otherwise, you can't see Quicktime movies in Safari.
Note: this post is about and at the time of OSX Lions launch, i.e. 10.7.0.
Now we have 10.7.2, still cannot believe Apple has not fixed this bug !!!
