Site Search: Filter user submitted webapps

Anybody knows how to do this or is it even possible?
We want to search entire site, except for user submitted webapps..

You need to be a bit more specific about your requirement and your environment. What kind of functionality does your search need? Are you using enterprise search or FAST?
1) Your sites should already include default search boxes at the top right corner. If you need a search web part, you will need to create a web part page and add the search box or advanced search box (need a search center for advanced) onto the web
part page. If you need to change the default search box layout on all pages, you can do that by editing the master pages.
2) Are you asking for a specific query to be included in every search? You can can add a default appendded query using the search box web part properties. If you want to just have certain keywords show up at the top, you
can set up Keyword Best Bets. For the filtering, you will need to use scopes. You can set the scope rules to include/exclude specific sites, folders, content sources or property queries. If you're using FAST, you will need to set the scopes
up in the FAST Query app, not the FAST content app.
You can create keyword best bets, scopes and change the search settings for the site collection by going to Root Site Settings > Site Collection Administration > Search Settings. Hope this helps. Again, we need more info to provide a more specific
solution.

LDAP Search filter Jabber for Android

Hi,
I have this LDAP Filter which only shows me active users:

I have the same line for Jabber for Android, but it doesn't work.
<BDIBaseFilter>(&(objectclass=user)(objectcategory=person)(!UserAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2))</BDIBaseFilter>
I get 0 results for any search on Jabber Andorid. When I delete the "BDI" Line for the filter all together, then I get correct results - with photos and everything.
I also tried a simple filter e.g:

No search results either.
Any ideas how to get Filter for Android working?

The next question is now: Why is it a bad search filter? And what is the correct one? The same filter works on jabber for windows...

Can the individual form response be sent via e-mail to us in the PDF form format (not the raw output we see currently when using e-mail notifcation) each time a user submits a reponse?

Hi, we basically have an on-line job application that we need to be sent to us via e-mail notification every time a user submits a response, not with the raw data output from the form fields like the current e-mail notification setting allows, but as an actual PDF attachment that mirrors the format of the on-line form, with the user response data in it. We need this to be automated and sent to a central HR e-mail to distro to others. It would be essentially the same thing as a user downloading a PDF form, filling it out, then e-mailing it back to us, but using the submit options via the Form Central server instead. Is this even possible and, if so, is there any documentation on it? I have not found anything clear in searching for this same topic.

No this is not possible within Formscentral. You could export a PDF without a submit button (an option when saving your form as PDF) and then in Acrobat add a submit button to your form and have it automatically sent to the email of your choice. This kind of workflow falls outside the scope of Formscentral.

I am only a fellow ordinary user of Firefox & XP, but maybe the problem is on your machine, rather than needing a fix from firefox. If you take a little time to read this you may be able to sort out the problems yourself.
I hope you do not mind me covering a few basics:
* the [[Search bar]] { <-- clickable link -- ] is designed to produce a lot or results, whereas
*the [[Location bar search|Location Bar]] is a lot more specific and may be [[Location bar autocomplete#w_controlling-behavior|set]] to include or exclude History & or [[bookmarks]]
If you are getting literally 1000s of totally unrelated results you may need to consider [[Is my Firefox problem a result of malware]]

Search for users in a particular LDAP through Web Dynpro code...

Let me try explaining my problem. In my project we are using two ADAM LDAPs. One for storing internal users and the other for storing external users. I have configured the portal to connect to both the LDAPs. I am able to search for the users created in both the LDAPs through portal Indentity Management.
I am trying to search for the users in a specific LDAP through Web Dynpro coding... I am not lucky enough to get it done. Let me explain you what I did.
I created a custom attribute for UME through config tool. Gave a physical mapping for the custom attribute in dataSourceConfig_xxx.xml to the LDAP attribute distinguishedName which returns the distinguished Name for the user in ADAM LDAP.
For Example: Custom attribute in UME is ldapuser which is mapped to distinguishedName attribute in ADAM LDAP in dataSourceConfig_xxx.xml.
When I do a search for the users in a particular LDAP, I am trying to put a filter to the newly created ldapuser attribute to distinguish between the two LDAPs.
The search will result if I pass the value as '*'. If I try to specify the user path for the LDAP in this attribute it doesnt result any data.
For example:

I just figured it out. Under "group-policy GroupPolicy_COMPANY_SSL_VPN attributes", I had to add "vpn-simultaneous-logins 15". Apparently, it was using the value "vpn-simultaneous-logins 0" under the NOACCESS group policy.

Enchancement Request: IR arrow button in Search Filter uses applied Filters

Hello,
I'd like to request an Enhancement.
I'd like the IR arrow button in IR Search Filter, when performs the DISTINCT to provide choices in list for the user to select, that would take into consideration any other Filters that have already been applied to the IR Report in.
Currently it seems that it ignores any of these already applied filters and provides the DISTINCT list of the default report settings row set.

Ah ha! I figured out a solution. It took one of those "ah ha" moments to do it.
Peter.... thanx for the suggestion, but I am using the built-in Interactive Report settings to hide the Actions button and other things. I am also attempting to hide the section on the page which displays the current filtering, control breaks, etc. that are applied to the report. This is because the page is a public page and needs to be as simple as possible and I do not want the end users to have the ability to turn pre-built filtering and control breaks on and off. The problem is that the user-entered filtering is displayed in the same place as the pre-built filtering and I want to display the former, but not the latter.
I created a display-only item on the page containing the text that should show when the user has entered some search criteria in the search box. I then created a dynamic action which is triggered by the refresh of the interactive report and runs some javascript which first checks if there is "custom search criteria" applied and then hides or shows the display item accordingly. My javascript code is below for those interested.

Removing "Standard" options from the WebUI search filter

Hi Experts,
I have configured the YMCR and Y**** transaction types for RFC, Urgent, Normal and other Changes.
I have removed the SMCR transaction type for standard from dno_cust/04 and I do not see the standard transaction type anywhere now except for all of them showing up in the drop down Menu of the Search filter.
Can you please advise how to remove these?

Can you make sure via SUIM that this object is not assigned via some other role to the user.
there are other ways but if something can be achieved easily why you need to put extra efforts for the same.
Unless someone authorized for SMCR should only see ZMCR for example and if this is not working then there is something definitely wrong because from business point of view if I have multiple customer and multiple transaction type I can view all which is not correct.
I have done this for single and VAR scenario so know that this works.
Or alternative
Create a test user assign only few roles(relevant one's) to this user check it & it must work
e.g. I have logged on using the standard user CH_CM_SID of the system which is created via standard solman_setup and output is shown below for searching change request...........it shows only Z*

Query parameters in BC and setting up Site Search tracking in Google Analytics

I would like to enable site search tracking in Google Analytics for a non-eCommerce BC site but I do not know what query parameters I need to use to enable site search tracking - can anyone help?!
I can turn Site search tracking 'on' in Analytics but it requires the query parameters to be entered e.g. 's' or 'q'. I have the option of selecting 'strip query parameters out of URL' but I'm not sure what this does and what needs to be done in the backend of BC?
Usually, when an internal search is done within a website (and in this case it is www.newcastleairport.com.au), the URL will indicate the parameters by adding a 'en&q' in the URL. To test what metric would be used for the Airport, I did a search on 'annual report' and the following URL came up (not containing an en&q)

I am trying to set up a hybrid environment and followed the blog posts. Everything was set up as per the guidelines mentioned but still I am not able to fetch any results from SharePoint Online inside my on-premise environment.
There are no errors coming as such. Its just that my on-premise is showing no results from SPO. However if the same user logs on into the Office 365 SPO site he is able to see SPO search results. That means there is no permission related issue specific to
test user.
I am totally out of ideas now. In case you have faced similar issues while setting up the same then any pointers to troubleshoot would be very helpful.

Search/Filter a Picture Library with an External Content Type

We have the need to manage 50,000-100,000 images of ODOT Bridges. Currently, they are added to a SharePoint 2010 Picture Library that is associated to an External
Content Type. To handle list threshold and performance issues, we are using folders. There are 2-10 images per folder. SharePoint works great for administering (Adding, Updating, Deleting).
The problem that we have is providing an interface that anonymous users can search/filter. Prior to adding the external content data, we stored the metadata in the
picture library itself. We had an InfoPath form that had multiple (3-5) filtered dropdowns which passed a filter to the picture library web part.that worked without issue.
Do you know of an easy way to search/fliter for one picture library via dropdowns when all of the metadata is stored in a external content type?

How about create a page in SharePoint Designer instead of using InfoPath form? If you would like to have a try, please follow this step:
1. Create a data source using database connection type. Get data from the same data from the data source you used to create the external content type.
2. Add a page > Click Insert tab in the ribbon of Designer > Click Data Source > And insert the data source you created in step1.
3. Insert > ASP.NET > Drop Down list > Choose Data Source for the drop down list control > Select the data source you add in step 2. And Enable AutoPostBack for the drop down list control.
4. Insert the picture XSLT list view web part > click Parameters on the ribbon > Create a new parameter > Select Control as parameter source > Select the drop down list control you added in step 3.
5. Create a filter for the XSLT list view web part > add the fitler equal to the parmaeter you added in step4.

Missing equals??? This is what I entered as the query filter:
(&(objectclass=user)(sn=Test))
I just want to do it on a user whose last name is Test. I took the query straight out of the documentation.
I'm using an older adapter, 9.0.4, so they had me add this in the CustomizedReconQuery property of ITResource. The documentation also states:
The CustomizedReconQuery attribute is used in conjunction with the
isNativeQuery attribute. You use the isNativeQuery attribute to specify whether
or not the query condition is in the native format.
But I don't see a isNativeQuery property in either the ITResource or the Scheduled Task. I'm guessing that's not the issue anyway.
Anyone see any obvious issue I'm missing?

I have a flat file recon process that I believe is my trusted source and this Updates or Creates OIM users. I just want only certain users to update to AD.. only ones where OIM.EmployeeID = AD.EmployeeID.
I got all the pieces together, except that all my OIM users have no EmployeeID, so I want to do a one time reconcliation from AD to get the AD.EmployeeID property into OIM.
Since my ProcessForm's Employee ID field is being populated correctly from Reconciliation, I thought I could take that value and put it in the User form with a "Employee ID Updated" task, but that, for some reason, doesn't trigger as an update from Reconciliation, works when I click Save tho. I guess it's not meant to work that way.
I've never heard of Entity Adapters, but I'll look into it now.

EDIT - OK, so I see Entity is a type of Adapter.... how do I call this adapter? Do I make a process task that calls it? Do I do it as above and name it "MYFILED Updated", or do something else?

Customer submitted webapp creating blank items

I have customer submitted webapp - it's part of a custom comments webapp that I've built - the form is part of the detail layout of another webapp and is submitted via ajax - the form has at least one prepopulated field (Name has a value='{module_firstname}' )
Every thing works as expected 99% of the time - but, I've had a couple of completely blank webapp items end up being submitted?
If anyone has any thoughts on how/why this could be happening it would be much appreiciated

I discovered that the problem was that I was using ajax to submit the form and jQuery to add in some additional fields the background. If the user had javascript disabled it would successfully submit the form, even though it had no item name - My solution was to not use the form submit button (which was being prevented from acting as a submit button by jQuery) and attach the 'submit' to a <p> so if javascript is disabled nothing happens (and added a <noscript> message so the user would know what was going on.

Regarding the first question - I am afraid the only way to set the expiry date is to add X days to the current date, so calculating the number of days between the date you want the item to expire and the current days is the way to go here.
Regarding the second question I am afraid there is no "easy" way around this, weight values cannot be assigned through the front-end, so sorting is limited to the default options (date, datereverse, alphabetically and so on). One way I'd see this happening is like so
-define a layout that renders all the webapps
-using js convert the event date to miliseconds and hide the events you do not want to show
There are some potential performance issues with this approach, if you need to display alot of items (with pictures for example) the system will load all the items every time and then hide the ones that are outside the desired range.
A more complicated way of rendering specific webapp items would be to create a "lightweight" list layout containing only the URL and the event date field (this should load up fairly fast) and then using ajax load only the needed items into the page. I would advise to use this approach in case you run into performance issues caused by loading the "detail" layout of the webapps.

Question about AD search filter

I'm a newbie here. I've AD to OID sync and have the following search filter in the mapping parameters.
searchfilter=(|(objectclass=group)(objectclass=organizational unit)(|(&(objectclass=user)(!(objectclass=computer)))))
Can someone explain what this filter exactly does?
Sync is working for regular users but I want to get users who are members of some groups. How to I change the filter to get groups and members within groups?

It all depends how the code is written. Somewhere there is going to be a setting that says what your multivalue group objectlass is. The frist query will pull your users, and the second will get the userID for each user and query again for that user's groups. Since the groups are not actually on the user profile, the user's are on the group profile.

User submitted photo in a lightbox

I am absolutly perplexed. I'm trying to create a user submitted classifieds site, so users can sell items. I would just like for the user to be able to submit photos and then have them display in a lightbox.
I downloaded a simple lightbox gallery into dreamweaver then uploaded the site to BC. It came with demo images and worked fine (code below):

The tags for my photos are {tag_main photo}, {tag_photo#2} and so on to photo#5. I had hoped that I could just delete the current image source and input my tags and the lightbox would function however it does not. When I examine the code on the displayed page it shows that the tag does something like this...... <img src="src=........in other words the tag element supplies the command "src=" and messes things up. If I remove the original src= command BC automatically alters the code and everything gets messed up.
Does anyone have any ideas, or even idiot proof code I could use (I'm still figuring this out and probably can't handle intense coding)

First, thank you both very much. I realize this question is probably very elemenatry but I'm still getting the feel for these features (such as lightbox) and as you can tell, having some difficulty. I updated the code as you both suggested and it brought me one step closer, the pictures now display in the web app as desired (here's the page http://yourboatconnection.businesscatalyst.com/boat-classifieds-1/324553425 ). I'm still having as issue though. When I click on them instead of opening up into the lightbox, as they do in the Live View in Dreamweaver, they now just open up full size in a new tab. Maybe I don't fully understand how to implement the code supplied with the widget but I added the below code into the CSS. Below that is the current, updated web app code. Maybe there is something obvious that one of you can see. I just want a simple thing to present the expanded pictures, I really didn't think this was going to be that difficult -silly me!
