Site Setup in Dreamweaver CS6

I just downloaded my new copy of Dreamweaver CS6, however when I opened it, it didn't seem to give me the option to set my default site location. It is just set to My Computer. How can I change this?

Go to Site > Manage Sites > New / Edit Sites.

  • Phonegap setup for dreamweaver cs6 compared to eclipse

Hi, I recently started working with CS6 and I'm trying to setup a phonegap application.  I was able to make a basic hello world jquerymobile site and upload it to the phonegap build site and getting it working on my android phone...
I'm new to phonegap... I played around with some examples on phonegap 1.2 using eclipse but now I'm getting back to it and wondering how it works with dreamweaver cs6/phonegap build.
I was following the download and setup from the phonegap website here:
    http://docs.phonegap.com/en/1.8.1/guide_getting-started_android_index.md.html#Getting%20St arted%20with%20Android
What steps can I skip over in dreamweaver?  Do I need .jar files, or the .js file, or does phonegap build provide that for me?  I have all the initial emulators and SDK installed from my eclipse environment, I'm just trying to get an understanding of what DW CS6 phonegap build does to simplify everything?
any how to's from a dreamweaver standpoint would be appreciated.

Great thanks.  So just to confirm if your working with eclipse, your typically going and 1
    1)      Installing eclipse
    2)      downloading android sdk
    3)      downloading the adt plugin
    4)      downloading cordova
    5)      setting up a new project
    6)      copy a .js and .jar file to new folders
    7)      copy an xml file to new folders
    8)      making edits to designated files…
and if your using dreamweaver cs6
    1)      (optionally download the sdk, adt plugin)
    2)      Setup a new site
    3)      Edits the pages to do what they want.
    4)      Upload to phonegap build and test?
If so, WOW!  I’ve been working with dw since 98 (dreamweaver 2 or 4) and this seems to be one of my all-time favorite features if so!

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Importation site de Mac à PC

    Bonjour,

    http://help.adobe.com/fr_FR/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7ecea .html.

    Cordialement

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Site setup and Site specific Code hints

I have just started using Dreamweaver CS6 and when I navigate to the server page in the site setup only the intro text is shown.... clicking my mouse around the window reveals the server table and buttons and I can proceed to set up a server.
I have several sites in there now but when I try to set up site specific code hints it shows and error saying that I need to add at least one site before I can continue.
    Help

Easiest way to solve this is to have you post a screenshot of your site definition where you define the testing/remote server.  Please be sure to blur or remove any sensitive information from your screenshot before posting (ie: username, password, etc).  We will assume you are able to connect to the remote and/or testing server.  If not you should talk with your host about the remote server or you would need to post more information about your testing environment.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 setup problems

I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS6 and are having some minor issues with setting up a site as well as with certain views.
Site Setup: (first I will explain how I use DW)
I keep all of my customer and my own company sites on an external USB drive in folders named [#Customer sites] and [#Company Sites] respectively. The naming convention is really there just to keep these at the top of the directory listing as access them frequently (the # symbol has never caused any issues with CS3 or previous versions by the way).   I do not ever connect to a remote server nor use any of the built in FTP features in DW as I find they too easily corrupt live websites with the check in/check out feature.  So, each website runs 100% on my local computer (with connections to remote DB servers if necessary).  I have Win7 Ultimate with IIS installed and running and localhost brings me to the IIS7 page as expected (so we can dispel any issues with IIS).  I always set up my testing server to be Local/Network and preview in browser has always worked in the past with no issues.  AS far as moving content to the live servers, I have and always will use a separate FTP client for that (never let DW anywhere near FTP)
    1) The first thing I noticed after setting up a site is that moving files around (images, CSS, js files), DW will not update any of the links in base files like contact, index, etc.  I have removed, re-setup over and over and still no luck here.  I do get the prompt to update but it only ask to update links in [ / ] with no file names.  This is one of the primary reasons I use DW is that I can update links throughout an entire site but CS6 is not working for me here.
    2) Next thing I noticed is that for whatever reason I cannot get 'Live' view to work on even the simplest of web pages.  I get a message that states:  "Dreamweaver could load the file "M:\". The system reported the error: M:\ contains an incorrect path..".   Again, I have re-checked the setup, the paths in the site definition and all are pointed to the correct location.
I built a simple Fluid Grid page to test feature... here are the relevant site definition settings:
    Site name:  FluidTest
    Local Site Folder:  M:\#COMPANY SITES\FluidTest\
    Server name: Local
    Connect using:  Local/Network
    Server Folder:  M:\#COMPANY SITES\FluidTest
    Web URL: http://localhost/fluidtest
Note that I was able to get the Preview in a Browser feature to work once I created a virtual directory under the 'Default Web Site' in IIS but cannot get this to work when I just create it as a new website.  Seems localhost only wants to run under the Default website.   Thought about manually turning sites on and off in IIS but should not need to do this with Win7 as IIS is supposed to be able to handle multiple websites.  I will likely figure out a work around this annoyance.... just though I would mention it as it is somewhat in context.
    Fluid Grid Layout annoyance:
I am sure I am missing a setting somewhere but after creating my simple FluidTest website, I cannot see the Pink Columns in the Grid layout.  After uninstalling CS6, removing all traces of Adobe, and re-installing CS6 I still have this issue.  I have enable all the Visual Aid settings [ View --> Visual Aids ] and still the Pink Column grid is not visible in any of the layouts for mobile, tablet, or Desktop.  Anyone with a solution, please enlighten me.

I know you've used it in the past, but that # symbol is pretty suspicious to me.
Generally speaking DW, and the internet, hate special characters in file paths. Have you tried without it yet?
If you have, and it still doesn't work, I'd reinstall using the Cleaner Tool...
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Adobe can be contacted here: Contact Customer Care
Depending on the time of day, and availability, you may or may not get a Chat feature after narrowing down your question's category and clicking on the blue "Still Need Help" button. You should see a location specific phone number no matter what, once you've gotten to the big blue button mentioned above.

  • Bc and dreamweaver cs6 site import issues

    - issues importing BC sites in Dreamweaver cs6
    - manage sites dialog,
    - flash loader spinning,  "Retrieving site definition..." endlessly.

Thanks Brad. It is happening only for the sites that aren't set up in the manager. the few that are (after a fresh os 10.6.8 install and a fresh cs6 install) are fine. The ones that aren't working are all the rest. So, about 4 that connect and show business catalyst as the "type" in the manager, 1 (my main rebraded partner site) that shows as type "dreamweaver" and then maybe 15 I can't import. The reason for the dreamweaver type is that I used the ftp creds to set it up so that I could use it rather thna letting dreamweaver sniff out the creds and serve up my login cred screen to tie it together. I only did that since I was desperate to edit. It's a workaround.
I spent a long time on chat yesterday with Adobe Support.  Deleted prefs, deactivated dreamweaver, restarted, same issues. They filed a support ticket. I'll try to keep this updated if anyone else would like to know. As always, thanks for the help. - T

  • Dreamweaver CS6 not recognizing CS4 Sites

Hello, How do I get Dreamweaver CS6 to recognize sites created by CS4?  Sites were transferred from old Macbook Pro to new.  CS6 was installed new on new machine.  Running Lion.
I may have accidentally posted this already.  If so, sorry.
    Michael

If you install CS6 on the same computer that housed CS4, the installation procedure will find all of the old sites, and display them in the newly installed CS6.  If you copied the sites from an older computer running CS4 to a new computer running CS6, you will also need to EXPORT the site definitions from CS4, and then IMPORT them into CS6 in addition to copying the site files.

  • This morning dreamweaver cs6 restarted as if it was just installed lost all sites

Hi Dreamweaver CS6 for mac osx

the file in applications its showing as 12.0.3 build 5861
    any ideas????

Those are the same version. Macs just truncate the version number within the program itself, it's a known issue and doesn't affect how it runs.
Your sites are still on your hard drive, all you need to do is set up new definitions from the existing site folders to get them back.
Site > Manage Sites > New
When asked what you want to use for the local site root, browse to one of your existing site folders, add the FTP info and you should be good to go.
You aren't logged in under a different user account than the one you normally use, are you?

  • Dreamweaver CS6 hangs when trying to access SFTP site (Mac)

Dreamweaver CS6 hangs when trying to access an SFTP site - or at least I think that SFTP could be the reason.
    Beachball forever....
It works fine when trying to access other sites.
The one addity is that when I go into "Manage Sites" and test it, it connects fine.
I am running OSX 10.8.2.  I upgraded from 10.7 to see if this problem would go away.

When CS6 first released, some people experienced problems with the FTP feature.  A critical update was released which addressed these issues. Did you install it?

  • Dreamweaver CS6 edits to old Front Page site display in preview browser but NOT on live server site.

    Howdy Folks,
My Dreamweaver CS6 edits to old Front Page site changes display in preview browser OK …But will NOT display on live server site.
To anyone who can step up to the microphone and speak “solution” I will be much grateful?

Are you sure you are uploading the pages to the correct location?
Could you post a screen capture of your expanded files window, showing the remote server and local file structures?
I'm guessing they're not identical and that you may be uploading to a redundant root folder.

  • Cannot "Get started" or publish a site from Dreamweaver CS6 because the account is not associated wi

I cannot "Get Started" the Business Catalyst extension from Dreamweaver CS6. This is the error message I receive: "An account with the same email already exists in Business Catalyst. To associate the Business Catalyst account with your AdobeID, please log in to the Business Catalyst web administration console."
I have tried the following actions as per this note, but still unsucessful: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2202#comment-5263
Can anyone help please as I have purchased CS6 now and have sites that I need to administer, I have uninstalled cs 5.5 which worked fine.

There is no need to install the Business Catalyst extension in Dreamweaver CS6. Business Catalyst is incorporated into the program.
If you're having difficulties logging into BC, I suggest that you post a request for help in the dedicated Business Catalyst forum.

What happens is even the local site goes into an endless loop with DW "interacting with the server."  The problem is clicking on a folder locally also produces an endless loop.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Hangs Upon Exiting "Manage Sites"

Anytime I edit an existing site or add a new site under "Manage Sites" and click "Done", Dreamweaver will hang with the spinning beach ball for 5-6 minutes.  During that time the app is unusable.  A pretty bad bug.  After the hang time, the app works fine.
    Help?

    I have the same problem.
    Windows 7 x64, 12GB Ram, Dual Xeon 2.66 processors (12 threads)
    Dreamweaver CS6 v12 build 5808.
It will freeze for 3-4 minutes and it is unusable. Then it works as normal. Seems to freeze when I open a file, save or switch between files in the app.
I tried to Disable Dreamweaver's Resolve To IP Address feature:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/hang-opening-document-dreamweaver-cs5.html
    it did not help.

  • Dreamweaver losing site setups

A couple of months ago after an update Dreamweaver lost all my site setups. I have them all backed up and saved to STE files. I now have to open Dreamweaver, no sites listed in the Site Manager, and import the site I plan to work on. The next time I open DW the site setup is gone. I haven't been able to find any information related to problem via Google or Adobe.
    Help...

Before proceeding, please check out this link about the latest release of DWCC update: The 2014 release Of Dreamweaver CC Is Now Live!
Are you seeing Dreamweaver not quitting properly? The site preferences might be getting lost since DW is crashing on quit, and hence they are not getting saved.
Can you try changing any default preference settings, and quit DW to see if it gets remembered the next time you launch the product?
You can launch preferences dialog using Ctrl+U shortcut key.
