Site Studio : Search Fragment

Hi !
I am designing a small sample Web Site for a POC and I need to integrate search capabilities.
I am using Content Server 11g and Site Studio Designer (not JDevloper / SSXA)
I have added the Search Box Plain Fragment and the Search Result Plain fragment to my page.
When I leave the search field blank and press the search button, I have the correct result (all documents are displayed).
When I try to filter and enter something n the search box, there is not result ...
And the following error appears in the log :

I have an other issue, when I click on the document link (when I leave the search field blank), the document does not open and I have the following error :

I have solved the first issue by enabling the OracleTextSearch capability.

Hi All,
I am finding information how the Site Studio search fragment can leverage on OracleText.
I read in the OracleText documentation, it does have weight(*) operator to put more weightage on certain words the user is searching. I am wondering how this can be implemented in Site Studio Search Fragment.
Any pointer will be very much appreciated.

Site Studio - no fragment directory in weblayout

Hi people,
I've just installed the SampleWiki on my Content Server, the installation worked fine but there is no images and no layout on the wiki.
While checking on my Content Server files, I found that there was no fragment directory in the weblayout directory.
Before installing the SampleWiki, I installed Site Studio and the CS10R3UpdateBundle.
Does someone has an idea ? Why is there no fragment' directory ?

I should have tested more before sending a question..
I created the directory by myself and deployed the sample wiki fragment one more time!
Then, all the repertories appeared in the fragments' directory...
So, it works now.
(I still do not understand why it hasn't worked the first time!)

Site Studio search query fails

Hi,
I am unable to list the site assets from site studio 10gr4. When I select any of the site assets in the drop down box to list the items (Example Element definitions, Region template et.,) the content servers throws the following error. Just to mentioned I have already set zone fields and optimized fields from Text Search Admin.
Indexed the content a couple of times, but of no use. Please help.

URGENT: Consuming Portlets in Site Studio Design.

Hi...
I am quite new to oracle technologies and have to create a full fledged secure B2B web portal (web center application) using various web center technologies like Wiki, Discussions etc and also integrate and manage content through it. The portal is going to have proper left, right, top & bottom navigation sections and access to content would be dependent on user roles and rights. I also have to create various JPDK and WSRP portlets that need to be used in the portal for search, navigation mapping etc. The portal would be obviously deployed on a Oracle Application Server. The main usage of the portal is going to be for collaboration between the various employees of an organization and also to manage their day to day business activities. Moreover, some power user have to be able to create and update content on the fly.
1. My concern is that is is possible to use Site Studio somehow in the development of this kind of a portal?
2. How to consume Portlets in Site Studio (as fragments?) or how to embed portlets in the site studio design?
3. Can I create the complete web layout and content management mechanisms using Site Studio and then integrate Portlets on to it using JDeveloper?
4. Is such an integration possible? If yes what would be the limitations of such an approach? If no, what are the best possible tools for the same?
Please let me know your comments in detail.

What exactly are you trying to do with searching on site ? As in by default you have the fragments which has the search code already put in it . You can directly use them for a start .

(UCM) Problems with Site Studio

Hi! I've installed Content Server and Site Studio Designer for it today and tried to do an example from http://home.c2i.net/toreingolf/oracle/ucm/my_first_ucm_site.htm . Everything was fine: i've created header and footer fragments, i've created menu and breadcrumb fragment. Then i've created layout page and put all fragments there. After this i opened IE and tried to watch what i've got. Unfortunately there wasn't menu on my page. I tried to refresh page several times -> didn't help :). Then i tried to reload UCM. It didn't helped either. Then i decided to close Studio Designer (it was opened when i reloaded UCM). When i hit close button a message box appeared. It asked me whether i wanted to reload some scripts that were out of date. I hit "yes", Studio Designer made something and closed. After it i've finally seen my menu (so, all i needed was to reload that scripts!).
Then i tried to continue my tutorial and opened Studio Designer again. I've connected to my MFS site and tried to select "Layout Pages" from Site Assets dropdown list but i couldn't. It showed me error:
Failed to get search results with query "dExtension <matches> 'hcsp' <or> dExtension <matches> 'jsp'"
(Unable to retrieve search results. Unable to retrieve search results. Unable to execute query 'CtextSnippet'. ORA-06550: row 1, column 13:

PL/SQL: Statement ignored
And now it shows me this error whatever i choose from Site Assets dropdown list. Even if i create a new site. Can anyone tell me what happened and what to do?

This error seems to suggest that you had recently moved from database.metadata to database.fulltext on your CS. Was that done? If yes then under \database\admin you will see a script batchsnippets.sql. Run that against your database and then try to do the same actions.
CS install guide says that when you set the search indexer engine as Full text then you need to run these scripts so that CS has the snippet functionality enabled for full text searches.

Error while creating place holder definition in Site Studio using Jdev,UCM

Hi,
I am Using UCM and Jdev 11g.
I was creating a website using Oracle® Fusion Middleware Developer's Guide for Site Studio for External Applications
11g Release 1 (11.1.1).
It worked fine till step 9 of 4.2 i.e i created till region template.
But as i was creating place holder definition, i was trying to add region definition.
This was the step where i got the error :
Unable to retrieve search results. Error occurred while retrying the search query. Error occurred while processing. Unable to return results.
Because of this i am not able to see any region definitions which i had created earlier. so i am not able to add any region definition to it.
Please help me resolve this.

However, the error you get states something about indexes. You may have to re-run the Indexer after new components are enabled and the server restarted. See Managing Search Features - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)

Metadata values not showing in Site Studio layout using Idoc Script

Hi All,
We have a SS layout (secondary) with replaceable regions for showing content that is listed in a primary page dynamic list.
Part of the layout shows contribution elements of Contributor Data File content items, but part of layout also shows metadata values. We use  to show the content item Title with no problems.
However, for some content items, some metadata values are not showing on the layout - specifically a custom metadata field called xFinishDate (which is of type 'Date' in Config Man). The code  simply does not work (nothing is displayed) for some content items, despite definitely having a set FinishDate value. Some other content items show this value fine.
The  value works for ALL items, but the  does not, and there appears to be no difference between the items that it does, and does not work for. They are all CDF, same DocType, same CheckIn profile, etc.
The non-working items are all released and indexed. Their Content Information in Content Server shows complete metadata. I have resubmitted the non-working items for reconversion in Repo Man but no luck.
Is there something I am missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Actually the default DOC_INFO resultset that is on the page seems to be for the content item being loaded into the secondary layout's replaceable regions. This is why DOC_INFO.dDocTitle gives the results expected.
However, I think I have discovered why the xFinishDate value was not showing. Using sapan's code (and modifying it a bit) I was able to print out all the metadata field names and values for default DOC_INFO resultset.
Using this URL as an example: http://www.bond.edu.au/about-bond/jobs-at-bond/BD3_011217
At the top of page region (replaceable) where the Contributor Data File is loaded into, the DOC_INFO resultset is relevant to the content item that is being loaded into the layout (content ID: BD3_011217 - as per the URL format), which is what we want.
However, throughout the Contributor Data File content, if a link is made using the Site Studio link wizard via FCK Editor (in the above case, it is the position description link, which is a link to a PDF) and the link is 'Link to a file' and the 'Choose Target section' is selected as 'Use default website section metadata', the resulting link looks like "http://www.bond.edu.au/about-bond/jobs-at-bond/BD3_011216". Any references to the DOC_INFO resultset on the page after the instance of this link now use the metadata of the content item referred to in the link, not the original content item. I have dumped out the DOC_INFO fields/values in different parts of the layout to prove this. The linked content item has no xFinishDate value so this is why nothing displays (displaying xFinishDate needs to happen after the link to the position description).
I guess I need to either:
- change the way the link is made to the content item to "Link to the Content Item's URL", but I would prefer not to expose the resulting path e.g. "[!--$HttpRelativeWebRoot--]groups/group-name/@account-name/documents/content-type/content-id.pdf"
- explicitly make a resultset using  with the content ID I know I want and use it instead of the default DOC_INFO one. Is there any other way to make a resultset comprising of a single item's metadata?

How to get the dID of any Content from SS_DATAFILE in Site Studio 10gR4?

I am trying to get the dID of a Contributor Data File from its dDocName (SS_DATAFILE). I can do a search based on this Content ID but if I am able to get the dID using one of the Site Studio variables, it will be great.

I am trying to customize a Dynamic List element to display the list of related content for the contributor data file. For this, I use the GET_RELATED_CONTENT service exposed by the Oracle RelatedContent component which needs the dID as a parameter. Now in a Contribution Region, I can get the the dDocName (Content ID) of the datafile from the SS_DATAFILE Site Studio variable. However, I need to get the dID from this Content ID.

How to include one layout into other layout in Oracle Site studio designer

Hi all,
I have created the Header as on layout(This is my project specific even if we can go for fragments) in oracle site studio designer. It is the same case for footer, Left Nav. All these are primary pages in different sections. Now I have created the new primary page in different section, I would like to include all these layouts in to one layout and show the preview i,.e Header in the header place. Footer in the footer place.
First of all, will it be possible? If so, could you please tell me how to go about this?
As I am new to this site studio designer, I am really clueless in this matter. Please come forward with ideas.

Some questions related to site studio 10gR4

We are developing a solution using UCM, and I have couple of questions regarding the usage of the site studio 10gR4.
It will be really great if any one of you can either answer or point me to the rite document/webpage where I can get these answers.
The requirement is, we are going to use the site studio to develop the page template, and place holder, region definitions, element definitions etc. And then the contributor will contributor will contribute content using the contributor mode. But, there is another website in which this page template will be embedded, a Java based website.
So it will be like, we create this page template, and call it inside a web application using CIS.
Now my questions are
Q1. Is there any service or CIS API to call page template? I have seen the page holder service, but don't know if there is any for page template.
Q2. If there is a service I can call Page template, will that page template be in HTML format including all the sub elements like place holder, region definition etc?
Q3. Now suppose if I am able to get all the required content using either the place holder or page template service call. Now I am displaying it to the user as an embedded content inside my other Java based website. Can I still do the Cntrl+Shift+F5 and call it in the contributor mode? If I am not, is there any way to achieve it? Because my contributors want to contribute while seeing the whole website and not just the embedded page template.
Q4. Can anyone tell me about all the services Site studio supports? or any document where I can find them?

Nope, there is no service to call Page template.

Since there is no service to call page template, this question remains invalid. However, the answer to the other part with reference to place holder will be, the place holder CIS call will return the HTML that can be embedded in the calling framework. This HTML will contain everything present inside the place holder like fragments, RD, RT etc.

Atually the Cntrl+Shift+F5 generates an event which calls the begin_edit_session service, since we can associate this event with anything, it hardly matters if we are using Cntrl+Shift+F5 or a button click or a link on the page, the sole purpose remains calling the begin_edit_session service. In the contribution mode, we will only see the embedded part that is coming from the UCM and not if anything is present in in the embedding framework

Check out native doc from Site Studio Contributor

Why can't I (or my users) check out a native document from a dynamic list in contribution mode? Is there any way to accomplish this (besides installing software on every client's computer)? I modified the default dynamic list fragment to use the pdf (web-viewable) link to the document in lieu of the regular Site Studio URL (so that Site Studio doesn't try to apply the document to dynamic converter), as I want to simply display the PDF when the user clicks on it.
All of that works great, and I can still check in documents just fine. However, "Edit Target" doesn't work in contribution mode, and even if I view the info on the document, and check it out from there, it doesn't even give me the link to download the original document. Is there a way around this?

I guess, image needs to be in the Content Server. You can try desktop integration suite or webdav so that user can easily checkin the digital assets to the content server.

Character replacement script for Site Studio / idocscript

Working on creating and RSS feed of items in our CMS via the RSS feed component in Site Studio. I have the feed generating, but the Google Product search parser that I need to read the feed balks at odd (non-standard) characters like "o-slash" and an accented e. We have many items with foreign-language descriptions or authors from non-English countries that use characters outside of standard English.
I would have thought that using xml(parameter) would have solved this problem, but it does not.
At the moment, I'm "solving" this by individually locating the error and adding a "regexReplaceAll" for each one to change it to a somewhat acceptable alternative. It gets even tougher when, for example, I have to replace for the "o-slash" by using this:

because the server recognizes the o-slash as &#248, but the xml parser (Google Product search's data feed) will accept it only if I also make the ampersand in the entity an entity as well.
My question is... is there an easier way to find and replace for all these potential pitfalls? Is there a idocscript that someone has already written and is willing to share?

Thanks, but  doesn't seem to work for this parser (Google products data feed) and/or the characters that are being used.
For example, the output of  is this:
"...lleven un método efectivo para medir la satisfacción..."
and the error is this:
"Some of the characters in your items seem to be invalid.
...lleven un mÃ©todo efectivo para medir la satisfacciÃ³n..."
So the parser is either seeing something different than what I see (even though we're reading the same file) or it just doesn't consider "é" and "ó" to be valid xml (and I have no idea if they are or not).
I have been asking for more guidance on the Google products board, too, but was hoping that there was something else that could be done from Site Studio end.
