Site too small on New Palm Pre and Blackberry Pearl

I have a site that is pretty simple. It contains no tables accept for forms and input buttons. And isn't overloaded with CSS. It was orginally designed for keypad devices and has a width of 176px. Everything is spaced by either <p> or <br> tags with no use of <div> tags. The site loos fine on most phones except for the Pre and Pearl. It shows up on the screen probably is no bigger than a 1/8" high in the upper left corner.
Does anybody know what the problem is?
Thank you, Brian

  • Transfer Data from PalmOne Zire31 to the new Palm Pre?

Hi all, I've done some research to see how I can transfer the calendar and the contacts on my PalmOne Zire31 to my new Palm Pre and find PocketCopy from Chapuro to help do that without loosing the info on the PalmZire 31. I was wondering if anybody knows how to do that without paying 24$ for the Chapuro software?
    Please help me!!!
    Thanks

You will need to sync your handheld to Palm desktop to make sure the data in Palm desktop is current. Download and install Palm desktop 6.2, you need this version for the Palm Data Transfer Assistant tool. Here is the link; http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html
Setup a gmail account for your data.  You have 3 options for your data transfer, transfer to the palm profile, exchange server account or Gmail. The palm profile has experienced some data loss issues at this point so I would highly recommend using gmail.
Go to this link and download the Data Transfer Assistant; http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/migration/moveontophone.html
Select to sync with your gmail account.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

  • Brand New Palm Pre (Sprint) stuck at WebOS ver 1.1.0

    Hi everybody
Anyone else having this problem or anyone from HP that can shed some light?
I have a brand new Palm Pre (Sprint) that came out of the box with WebOS version 1.1.0.  It activated fine on Sprint's network and the data works, I was able to log into my Palm Profile, and wifi works as well.  But launching the Updates app and checking for updates will not give me any WebOS update -- just no update available.  It shows some of apps I've purchased, but they fail to install.  But definitely no WebOS update, and it's been 5 days since I activated the phone.  Also, the "App catalog is unavailable " when I launch the Ap catalog (perhaps because of my early WebOS version number.
I've called Sprint, they understand the issue, but have no solution, saying the problem is probably on HP's side.  All they could really offer me is an Advance replacement, that would hopefully be a Pre, and hopefully have a later OS installed.  But I have a brand new Pre here, I don't want a refurbed one.  They suggested I take it to a sprint reapir center but there are none in my area.
Finally, I activated a refurbed Pixi on my Sprint acount (different number) just a couple days earlier and it was an earlier OS version (not sure which) and that received an OTA update just fine. So it seems HP is still providing updates from earlier WebOS versions (at least before they announced they were no longer supporting WebOS hardware).  Is it just that mine is too old?  That would really be unfortunate.
Anyone have a similar experience or info from HP?  I can't imagine there are too many people activating brand new Sprint Palm Pres from 2 years ago...

    View Solution.

I would not take it in for repair.  I would use webOS Doctor 1.4.5 on it to install webOS 1.4.5, rather than trying to get it to upgrade.
Download the Doctor here to your computer: http://palm.cdnetworks.net/rom/pre/p145r0d08102010/spr1ntp145rod/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar
Run webOS Doctor.  Keep clicking Next until you can go no further, or to the point where webOS Doctor is requesting you to connect your phone.
We now need to place your phone in USB mode.  To do this first turn off your phone.  Now power it on while holding the Volume Up button.  After a few moments a black screen with the USB symbol should show up.  Now, connect the Pre to your computer via USB cable.
After a few minutes you should be able to click Next on webOS Doctor.  This will start the webOS install.
Keep in mind you will lose all application data, it's like reformatting and reinstalling Windows or OSX or Linux on a desktop computer.  However, if you have saved photos, mp3s, other data onto your Pre, those files will remain intact.  They will not be lost.

The only way to increase the fonts on your desktop would be system wide by going down a notch on the resolution. Some people won't do it because it increases the pixel size so the fonts won't be quite as sharp; I decided I'd rather have that than having to squint continuously. Go to System Preferences > Displays > Scaled > this will give you all resolution options available. No harm in trying - just check the default (top) choice again if you don't like any of the others.

  • Is it safe to charge my iPhone 4S with my Palm Pre and HTC charger?

Recently, I've lost the white charger that came with my iPhone 4S, but I still have the USB cable that originally came with it and I was wondering if it's safe to use the USB charger that came with my pervious Palm Pre and HTC EVO. The phone charges when I use these. But I'm not sure if it's safe to use these to charge my iPhone

    It is fine.

  • Breaking News: Palm Pre loses customers contact lists and finds entertainment in ignoring desperate cries for help!

I wish the subject matter was not true , but it is. I lost all my company contacts last week and have been pleading for help from Palm for over a week, I have already written a link based on Minkas complaint. I have heard stories about bad servers ect ect through the grapevine but the bottom line is , no matter what has happened....Palm has not honored any of the 3 promises to call me back that had been arranged at a Sprint Store with the help of the employees over the speaker phone, I head the promise, the employees heard the promise and over a week later I still have not heard back from Palm. I have lost important business contacts for my labor supply, my material supply and a handfull of contacts that I can not replace because they are not in the phone book....Bottom line, Palm does not care about you or the company your run, the support is lacking and almost comical...can you believe I was told the only way to contact or make a complaint about the company is to write a blog....If somebody has an issue with my personal products they can talk to me 24 hours a day, yet Palm has no such contact or even a official form I can fill out....THE ONLY WAY TO FILE A COMPLAINT IS BY A BLOGG....and hope somebody reads about this at Palm and cares enough to call back....this company acts like they believe in witchcraft and the only way they can handle a issue is that it must be delivered to them by devine intervention....I have never complained about a product in my life, but I bought this phone to help my business and what I got was abandoned, ignored and left to rot while they continously ignore me and my situation. Here are some things you should get used to if you have a problem with Palms products..1. Wait 72 hours and a level 3 or 4 tech will call you back but they do not  2. We will escalate your problem and you will be called back in 72 hours or less but they wont.  3. No, you may not contact the CEO of the company or anybody in authority. 4. If you have a complaint u have to write a blog because nobody specializes ln complaints about service. I understand problems happen , but a company that ignores customers begging for help almost every day because it affects a companies income... the money needed to pay bills and support families....this kind of company will watch you fall over a cliff and perish without a second thought....I will never trust Palm again, they will take your money and abandon you in your most dire time of need. They have done it to me, and as of tonight at 11 pm they told me somebody will call me in 72 hours.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

To anybody who has lost a contact list from palm my deepest sympathies go out to you. Be prepared to be ignored and dismissed by Palm. Today is Sunday November 9 and this is the 9th day I have waited for a call back from a level 3 tech but I want to share with you what happened today. I actually got a call from Palm but it was not from a tech...after pleading with the online help last night and explaining I have been ignored and need to speak to a tech person guess who called me ? It was the standard help line that you can call listed on this website...He had no clue at all how to help but promised me again (This would be promise 5 from online chat help and Im still also on promise 3 given at the Sprint store) needless to say he said that because of the serious nature of my request and the time I have waited he would talk to his manager and make sure I was contacted today...I waited and once again received no call back but what was really disturbing was he told me that the Sprint manager and the 2 employees that assisted me at the store were a bunch of liars. He told me no calls were ever made to Palm, even though we all listened on the speaker phone to the Palm representative each of the 3 times I went back to the store for help....I go to the store on greenback in citrus heights, Ca  each time they have been fantastic in trying to help me and each time they have spent 30-40 minutes trying to clear my problems up and at the end of each conversation they make Palm promise to call me back with a level 3 or 4 tech. So...today they not only lie to me again but they call the employees at Sprint a bunch of liars telling me that no records of a call back have ever been made...once again Palm continues to abandon the customer and also offer up Sprint as the sacrificial lamb. As bad as the problem is, I noticed some disturbing facts again ( I am now on my 3rd palm pre in 3 months) My problems started over a week ago when all info was lost.Once I had the drive wiped and only got 6 contacts back.I actually entered 3 new contacts on my phone by hand  ( I do use any Google or any other site ect) long story short I got a new phone on Friday the 6th of November because of constant lock up and inability to answer...when I downloaded my Palm profile it downloaded only 6 contacts again (they lost aprox 90) but it once again lost the 3 new contacts I had in my phone for 5 days ( and yes all autoback ups were on) I see more and more people are having these problems and I want to let you know that Palm does not care about you or any issues you have that require level 3 help.( Please note if you look up level 3 help at Palm its refers you to a webpage about Santa Clause....because neither exist)..you should take a deep breath, get in line and hope maybe you will be luckier than I have been...I really saw the writing on the wall when they started calling Sprint a bunch of liars....I think Palm is pulling off the biggest pyramid scheme the industry has seen in years. They got the money and now they are nowhere to be found. Here is the bottom line once again...Something is still wrong on the servers...they continue to lose contact information and they know they have a problem. I speak the truth when I say this... Palm does not care about you or your business, If your really serious about your business and your responsible for the income of employees and families you should avoid Palm at all costs. After 9 Days of Begging for help I feel like a total chump for trusting Palm and believing in this company.

  • I have a new Palm Pre Plus - can I have more than one Google G-Mail Account on the phone?

I have a general G-Mail account and it has started getting too busy with advertisements etc.  I'm thinking about changing to a different e-mail address but don't know what yet.
I have an old Palm Centro I used to Synch with my laptop.  Now I need to do this with G-Mail.  So I created a unique g-mail account that would only contain my calendar and contact information - i called it "palm.last name" - made sense to me.
When I try to add it to my Palm Pre Plus I am unable to sign in.  I'm wondering if you are limited to the number of Gmail e-mail accounts you can have on the phone.  If i can only have 1 then I don't want my e-mail to be "palm.last name" and give that out to people - that would not make sense to them.
I already have a Yahoo Account and I'm thinking about another Yahoo Account to keep some e-mails and instant messages separate from my personal Yahoo.  If I cannot add more than 1 account, this is going to be a problem.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
You should be able to add your second Gmail account without any problem...I have two Gmail accounts on my Pre and have no difficulties.
When you say you are unable to "sign in", I assume you mean you are unable to sync the email and calendar on your new account?  Double-checking your user name and password are the only things that come to mind.

  • Can I transfer Tungsten E2 data to a new Palm Pre 2 smart phone?

I'm looking to upgrade from a Palm Tungsten E2 + an old cell phone to one device - a new smart phone.  I have Verizon, and they offer the Palm Pre 2.  The question is whether I will be able to transfer my address book and calendar (and a few other items) from my Tungsten E2 onto the new phone.  I also have a 3rd party cookbook and a shopping list application that I would love to transfer too.  Not holding out much hope for those though.
If anybody has any reviews of the Palm Pre 2 phone I'd love to hear those too!
    Thanks!

No, I don't use Outlook to synch. I've always synched with the Palm desktop s/w. I've considered synching to Outlook, but I wasn't sure if my E2 could synch the memos and to do apps as well. Thanks.  My Palm desktop s/w ver is 4.1.4.

That's how it works on my iMac with OS X 10.8.1 but it refuses to change when selected on our new MacBook Air with the same OS and Apple Mail version.  Is there something about the track pad that it doesn't recognize the click?

  • Using a new Palm Pre or Pixi in Europe - CDMA vs. GSM

I am hoping to upgrade from the old Palm TX that I currently have to one of the Palm smartphones.  The problem I have is the available carriers.  Right now, it seems that my only choice is Sprint.  The problem I have with Sprint is that their network is not compatable with European networks.  Verizon is going to be offering the the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, however, I believe that those are CDMA phones which would not work in Europe.  The Pre and Pixi apparently are dual band GSM phones, but the only carrier that seems to offer them is Sprint.  The only good thing I can say about AT&T is that my old Motorola phone works everywhere I have gone recently in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Russia.  Anyone have a workaround for me - other than continuing to carry around two different devices?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Sprint is also a CDMA carrier here in the US.
There is an unlocked Pre sold in Germany at the moment.
It is rumored that webOS devices will shortly arrive at AT&T, so that might be the best bet - a little patience!

  • Palm Pre and backwards Palm app compatibility? 64 bit OS - Vista or XP Pro -- compatibility -- ?

I am brand new to the board, so please bear with me if these questions have already been addressed elsewhere.
The announcement of the Palm Pre might have just retained me as a Palm loyalist.  I was starting to look at BlackBerries, etc. for my next phone upgrade.  And then along comes the Pre.....which looks to be a Very Good Thing.  However, I have a couple of questions:
    1.  Will the Palm Pre be compatible with the apps that I currently have loaded onto my Palm TX?  Will a simple transfer of apps / data from the TX to the Pre be possible?
    2. Will I be able to sync the Pre with my Vista 64 bit laptop, or with my XP Pro 64 bit desktop?  Or does the Pre still lack 64 bit compatibility?  (Man, I hope that it will "do" 64 bit........)
To anyone who knows -- thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Thank you for the responses in both cases, smkranz.  It's greatly appreciated.
Yes -- my Palm TX has served me well for a few years.  It's still functioning quite nicely.  However, I'd hate to have to manually re-enter all of the data that's stored in it into another device.  Plus I wouldn't want to give up several of the apps that I have installed on that device.
IMO, in many ways the TX 'anticipated' the Pre -- rotating screen (albeit manually set), and a list of other features.  Heh -- but these days, if a device is six months old -- then it's yesterday's news.  ;-)  The TX is a circa 2005 era device, IIRC.  So it's an ancient historical relic in today's world.  But I still like it.  A lot.  Few electronic devices that I've ever had the pleasure of owning have been as useful to me as the TX has.  That's why I hated the idea of switching brands......but I didn't see much choice, until now.  The Pre looks to be a real shot in the arm for Palm.  And for my continuing to use Palm's devices into the future.  The BlackBerry Strom was a real disappointment.  And I don't like iPhones.  But I don't think that the Pre is going to disappoint.  If the device lives up to its promise: then I think that we'll have a top-notch winner on our hands.  A great replacement for my venerable TX.
Heh -- the first thing that I loved about the TX was the ability to download & read ebooks while traveling.  One TX in the pocket is a lot easier to carry around than a suitcase full of hardback novels.  The Pre looks to take that 'convenience factor' to a whole 'nother level..........
Now......if only I can get the legacy Palm OS apps to work with it, and it syncs up with my 64 bit PC's: then everything will be right with the world.........
    Thanks again for the help.

  • New palm pre

I have an old palm zire 31 that's fading fast...i'd like to get a palm pre....will it be compatible with the palm program i have on my laptop now (as far as ? hot sync, etc)
    Post relates to: Zire 31

Hello vickipap and welcome to the Palm forums.
No, the Pre, which runs an completely new mobile operating system, Palm webOS, does not sync with Palm Desktop.  Palm has built some tools that you can use to migrate the data from Palm Desktop into a new Pre, and form there, the data can be synced with a free Google account.  Once migrated, your data lives in local databases on the Pre and can be synchronized with Google's services.
You can learn more about the data migration process on the Palm website.
If you are not opposed to purchasing third-party software over and above the cost of the Palm Pre, you should take a look at Chapura Echo.

  • I just had to get a new Palm Pre & did not email my pics to my new phone.

Is there a way to retrieve those pics off of old phone?  W/out having to go back to the store?

Thanks for the feedback. Adding to what was suggested, if you still have the device, perhaps you could a USB cable that works with your Palm Pre Plus and sync it to the computer for moving over the pictures. The phone does not need to be on an active line in order to connect it with a proper USB Cable connection with your computer to move(transfer) your pictures over.

  • Question on Palm 500 and BlackBerry Storm--please help!

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this, but here is my story.
For several years, I've had a Palm 500.
I believe, when I purchasedit,I had to choose to Hot Sync between either my PC at home or my Mac at work. I chose to Hot Sync at home and that was an error because I was mostly using it for work. In time, I got tired of tapping everything in with the stylus and mostly use it as an address book now, even though I have $hundreds in third-party apps going unused.
Recently, I’ve been considering buying a BlackBerry Storm. I don’t really plan to use it on the Net but Verizon says I have to pay $30 a month just for web fees or I can’t get that phone. My husband says there is a way nowadays to HotSync to both a PC and a Mac. Or at least for me to hook up the Palm 500 to the Mac at work and be able to use iCal etc. there.
If I choose to buy the BlackBerry he says I can transfer all my Palm data to the BB.
Can anyone tell me: 1. Is any of this true? 2. If I stay with the Palm how do I get the necessary hardware/software for my iMac? 3. Should I just deep-six the Palm 500 because it’s so old?
I really need some kind of organization software/device because deadlines are piling up and I’m gonna get in trouble on my job!
    Thanks!!!
    Post relates to: Palm m500

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
You always had the ability to sync with two different desktops, even of different platforms.  This Palm Knowledgebase Article discusses how to Hotsync one device on two different desktops:
    http://tinyurl.com/kq4c5
The Mac hotsync software is downloadable from the support/download site linked above if you don't have your original installation disc.  Just be sure you pay heed to the article's instructions about only using ONE desktop for full 2-way sync, using the second desktop for one-way sync (Handheld Overwrites Desktop) as a clone of the other.
As for the BB Storm, I am unfamiliar with it but it looks like you would probably have to sync with M$ Outlook or some other organizer app which is compatible with the Blackberry Desktop software (suggest you peruse the BB site for info).  If you don't already sync with Outlook, you would have to migrate your data from Palm Desktop to Outlook.  You can do that but you might need your original installation disc.  I'm not sure whether the m500 came with Outlook conduits or Chapura Pocket Mirror to sync with Outlook...and I'm just a little bit frustrated right now trying to find stuff on the newly redesigned web site to be able to point you to the right answer on that.
Whether to deep-six the m500 or not is a tough one.  Palm's handheld PDA business is pretty much a goner...no new stand-alone PDAs are planned, and the "current" models (TX, E2 and Z22) now seem to be at the end of their production life.  So it seems that whatever is still out there in the supply stream (like www.amazon.com where you can get a new TX for something like $270) is probably about it. Your m500 is already a dinosaur, and parts will get harder to come by.  But if you like the stand-alone PDA it seems that now would be the time to get a replacement for your m500.  Their speed, display resolution and other capabilities are far superior to your m500.
