Site Transfer

I am stumped. I copied my entire hard drive to an external
drive. I then installed Vista and then reinsalled Dreamweaver 8.
I can't get any of my site definitions back. I forgot to
export them under the site menu. I thought I could just copy back
the entire dreamweaver folder and I would be back in business. I am
thinking that the site definitions are stored somewhere other than
the main directory.
I thought maybe it was a vista issue so i did the same
procedure on an xp computer with no luck.
any advise would be greatly appreciated.

That was not a good plan. Site definitions are in the
registry. Unless you
can get at that on your external hard drive, you are sunk. If
you can
temporarily boot on your old OS, you can export the site
definitions....

Automated site transfer between portals

I tested out the automated site transfer process... seems to work as advertised, although you may have to add a non-partner email address that you control as an admin user, as it seems to require a "user' to approve, and the receiving partner never gets the option to approve until a "user" approves. (I tried to transfer trial site where my partner email address was the only admin -- no go. I added a user, retried, and worked with sequential approvals of losing partner, then user, then receiving partner.)
Only minor bug I saw was the ALT tag for the images in the approval emails is left over from a different email template, saying "Congratulations on creating your website! Here are your next steps."
Wish list: Where one partner has multiple portals, let us move sites between them without needing to get customer OK, since it's an internal move not between different businesses.

The emails to the clients come FROM the losing partner (for approval) and the gaining partner (for confirmation upon completion)... The approval link uses the client's domain, to further enhance the white labeling of the partners.
However, although seemingly FROM the partners, these emails have Adobe and BC logos at the top, have a link to a partner documentation (instead of client doc),and are signed "The Adobe Business Catalyst Team".
(1) Can the logos be changed to either the partner logos (as done with most other system emails), or none?
(2) On the explanatory link, it should not send our clients to the PARTNER documentation, with all the other links to commissions, billing, plans, etc. at

Is there any "quick fix" code to make a Safari-ready site transfer to IE and Firefox?

I have built a site offline that works absolutely fine in Safari, but when opening in Firefox the browser seems to totally ignore much of the CSS; text changes to default colors, font size alters and some alignment gets messy. Workign on a Mac, I assume IE is going to have the same problems as encountered by FIrefox.
I feel I'm going to get a resounding "NO", but is there a quick-fix, a CSS band-aid, to make the site convert correctly?
If not, is there a specific resource I can go to to get the tags etc needed to remedy those problems?
The problems are relatively minor - I'm just wondering if I might have to <font> tag every incident where there's a problem...
Ugh, cross-browser transfer SUCKS! Can't we all just get along?!

As adninjastrator mentioned, there usually is no need to do cross-browser transfer with browsers nowadays. However, sometimes when coding, I run into problems with code being interpreted differently on mobile platforms, and I often turn to CSS browser selector, which is a "quick fix" but keep in mind, will be a constant chore in the future as browsers update, etc.

Really though, your best option is to code the site so it works flawlessly across all major browsers. When you make a change, check in all browsers before continuing, that way you can see where certain issues are happening, and more often than not there is an alternative in your code to get around these issues.

Consignment Process( site to site transfer within same company code)

We are having 98% items are the vendor consigned article. We are working in IS retail environment ECC5.0. Our scenario is as follows:-
We inward all the vendor consigened articles in Distribution center and stock it in DC. From DC we want to transfer vendor consigned articles to Retail stores where we are going to sale vendor consigned article.After the sale we get the payments from the vendor.
My problem arise here :-
1. How do I transfer vendor consigned good to retail stores as vendor consigned goods so that I can see the inventory of vendor consigned articles in retails stores and monitor the stock.
2. I am looking forward for temporory solution that I should use MB1B , Mvt Type 301 K ( consigenment). But problem is that It create internal documents (MM documents) but I need transit document which will show the value of items,.
Since it is consigned artcles it will not generate accounting documents.From Should I get the price.?
3.I tried as Stock transfer (STO ) process but for regular ( owned ) item it is working fine but for consigned materials it say" You can not have STO process for Consigned articles with in same company code".Please suggest How should go? so thatI will have consigned stock

you can use 301 - K in MB1B .it will not generate accounting document since the material belongs to vendor.but you have to maintain consignment info record in both plants .the price should be same in both plants.

Active active sites with GSS 4400

Hi
I have a customer with two sites lets say A and B. The sites have a connection between them for internal traffic they will have two identical server farms on each site.
They plan to deploy web based applications that need to be reachable by external (internet) and internal users. They require the following functionality:
Internal users
Users on site A get sent to a VIP on site A
Users on site B get sent to a VIP on site B
If either VIP fails (due to server farm or ACE failure etc) all internal users get sent accross the internal link to the VIP that is still up.
External Users
Get sent to the best VIP based on some criteria such as proximity or IP address of requesting DNS server. If one site fails then everyone gets sent to the remaining site.
Oh and the replies need to be sticky.
Would a GSS per site and an ACE load balancer per site be enough to accomplish this ?
Also can I have different selection criteria for VIP slection depending on if the requesting DNS server is internal or external for example DNS race for external and IP address for internal ?

Thanks alot for responding me. Correct me if i am wrong. Currently site5.abc.com is active as Bridgehead Server which is automatically chosen by KCC. What you think, instead of creating new inter-site transporters link, should i manually specify site4.domain.com
as Bridgehead Server using following steps? Will it work?
Open the Active Directory Sites and Services console.
In the console tree, expand the Sites folder, expand the site to create the bridgehead server in, then expand the Servers folder.
Right click the particular server and select Properties from the shortcut menu.
When the server’s Properties dialog box opens, in the Transports available for inter-site transfer section, select the protocol for which the server is to be a bridgehead server. Click Add.
Click OK.

I would not recommend doing manual configurations for bridgehead servers.

You can leave out the the -showversion option. Also do not uses spaces in classpaths An example, (without -server)

Changing to Another Partner

Hi all,
We currently have our corporate website hosted with a Business Catalyst reseller. Unfortunately, we are in a position where there is now a conflict of interest with this reseller and thus would like to migrate onto BC hosted by Adobe directly and manage the site completely independently of this partner.
How is the best way to go about doing this migration? Is there any documentation on how to make this change? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If I understand you correctly here are the answers you are looking for:
1) Until the most recent release (R202, released earlier today.) You had to be a paid partner to transfers sites to your portal. They automated the process and removed this restriction. Here is what BC said about the change:
For various reasons, partners and business owners are sometimes looking to transfer sites from a partners to another. So far, this request has been handled through our Accounts team, which had to communicate and get approvals from all the three parties involved: existing partner, new partner and business owner. With this release, we will be providing an admin user interface that will guide partners and site owners through the process without any interaction with the accounts team.
Please note that we haven't changed the conditions that need to be met when transferring a site. Also, the restrictions and limitations previously applicable to the manual move still apply to the automated process (site needs to have all invoices paid, existing payments and extra charges will not be transfered with the site).
Site transfer can be initiated from site's Admin > Site Settings > Site Management user interface, Site Transfer section. This section is only available to partners and to business owners that are directly paying the site to Adobe.
2) See point above. I believe you can transfer your site into your Partner Portal without any live sites.
3) It transfers everything over automatically. I forget off the top of my head if anything needs to be updated. The best thing to do is test your site once it is transfered. Your nameservers will not change.
4) Possibly. I transfered a site and I didn't see any downtime but you have to take a site live after you transfer it so there could be some downtime.
As a note your site must reside on the same Data Center. You cannot transfer your site to another DC. (Liam pointed that out in the blog post comments.)

How do I transfer iweb site to new macbook pro?

I used migration assistant to transfer from old macbook to new macbook pro. Both are using lion. When I open iWeb on the new computer it does not show my site. Both computers are connected by firewire, where do I find the files? This site is not published to mobile me, it is hosted by godaddy.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. Once you've unhidden the library it's a simple matter of copying the domain file from your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the old Mac to the same folder on the new one. You may have to create an iWeb folder on the new Mac if there is not one.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

How can I transfer JUST ONE IWeb site to another computer?

I am new to making IWeb sites and am now making them for
other people. I have about 10 sites in my IWeb folder and need to
be able to give a person's site to them.
I need to be able to transfer JUST ONE site to another computer.
Right now, I am only able to transfer ALL the sites I have made to
another mac and then, it wipes out all their sites! How can I prevent
the ultimate wipe out of all their iweb sites yet give them JUST ONE
of mine?

First, read Wyodor's post about changing the publishing settings HERE.
You can create the extra folders in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb or, as I do, in a folder named iWeb in the Home folder.
Create a folder for each website, give it a suitable name and paste the Domain.sites2 file with all the websites into each.
Open each one in turn, double click the Domain.sites2 file to launch it in iWeb, delete all the sites except the one whose name is the same as the folder name, save and quit.
Now you can launch any site individually in iWeb and sent a copy of the appropriate folder to the client.
