Site won't finish publishing

I have multiple websites and I recently separated them into different domain files. Each domain file is in a separate folder and each is named domain. The problem I'm having now is that the sites won't finish publishing. The circle goes around and then stops, not always at the same point. I used to have this problem on occasion but now it's happening the majority of the time. The sites publish to folders without a problem. I'm using the publish all to .mac command.

Make certain that the site(s) have not actually published.
Close all other internet-dependent activities, like any browsers that may be running. Discontinue any syncing that may be going on; in fact, turn syncing off and leave it off. Launch your Activity Monitor.app, and from the file menu choose Window/Network. You will see a black box at the bottom of the window.
Now choose a Domain.sites file from your folder system, launch the Domain and File/Publish all to .Mac. Click on the Activity Monitor window, and observe the Network activity...it is quite possible that regardless of the publish error, the iWeb application is continuing to upload to .Mac. You will see it in the monitor.
If this doesn't help and the sites are truly not uploading completely, you can always publish to the folder and then manually upload the site. I don't recall ever seeing a report of a publish error using this method. Of course, you lose some .Mac functions when you publish to a folder.

  • Website won't finish publishing!

My girlfriend is trying to publish her website to Mobile Me using iWeb '08, but every time she tries, the progress indicator in the iWeb window advances to the last sliver of the "wheel," and won't go any further. It doesn't give any error message or indication that anything is wrong, but won't finish the publication. We've already tried the plist/cache clearing fix, and that does make the upload run faster, but it still freezes on that last sliver of the progress wheel. Any suggestions?

Nevermind, the site finally went up. It just took forever for that last little bit to publish; a far cry from the "few minutes" the tutorial video described.

  • IWeb won't finishing publishing

When I have made changes to my web site in iweb, and hit publish, it goes through the cycle of uploading, but never finishes. It sops just before the counter spins all the way round.... Any changes I have made sometimes appear on the published site, but it's hit and miss..
    Anyone else have this problem.
    I'm using 1.1.2 so current...

I have tried all you suggested over the last few weeks, many times.
For no reason, all seems to be working again. No idea why it stopped in the first place, or why it suddenly decided to operate normally again.... all though my hyperlinks don't direct to the correct destinations.
I'm getting very frustrated with this now! To top it off the trackpad on my MacBook has died!!!
    Rant over!

  • IWeb '08 + 2.0.2 updated won't finish publish

I, like many iweb users, have had no luck getting the latest iWeb to publish anything for the last 7 days. We have all tried everything and it seems that the only thing that isn't working is some sort of publishing permission or server error. APPLE; "What is going on" ??? Here is a copy of my latest console log info for today. It says "data stream ended premature". "JPG corrupted."

  • Publishing Won't Finish

I have started having problems with iWeb not wanting to finish publishing my website after posting a new entry to my blog. Either the program crashes while trying to publish, or it gets all the way to the end of publishing with the progress wheel, but never actually finishes and tells me that it has succesfully been published.
The new posting has shown up on my blog, but the comments are not showing up on the post. I let it run for over two hours without any luck, so I quit and tried republishing twice now, and I get the same result every time.

    try this:
view here for my website version: http://karreth.com/iweb/22070571-B241-4C09-840B-288E0EC491F6.html
Firstly try to publish All to .Mac:
    1. From the Menu Bart in iWeb choose: File/Publish All To .Mac
    2. This mostly solves problems like:
    - Can't create shapeimage_2.png
    - Sorry! But the .Mac Servers are busy. Try Later!
If that does not solve it then you might want to follow these steps:
    1. Backup your Domain file RIGHT NOW SOMEWHERE SAFE AND COPY IT ONCE TO THE DESKTOP
If you cant find the file, then see here)
    2. Then go to the folder below and delete the red file:
    Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iweb.plist
    3. Now, open iWeb! It will ask for you to choose or create a domain file. Click to make a new domain file, do something, save it and PUBLISH ALL TO .MAC!
    4. After you have published, you trash the following files which are marked in red:
    - Users/Username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/DOMAIN.SITES
    - Users/Username/Library/Preferences/COM.APPLE.IWEB.PLIST
    5. Now move the Domain file from the Desktop back into the original folder (marked red:
    Users/Username/Library/Application Support/iWeb
    6. Now restart your computer and hope with both thumbs that it will work!

  • Site won't publish.. keeps opening the mobileme system pref pane.

when i click publish to .mac the mobileme section of the system prefs pops up asking me to sign in (or renew) even when i click "sign in" the site won't publish. i try to publish again, same cycle begins.

Where in iWeb do you see ".mac"? ...If you've upgraded to the latest iWeb v.2.0.4, everything should read "MobileMe" — not ".mac."
Is your MobileMe membership still active — or has it expired?

  • My iWeb site won't publish

Figuring I've seen some reasonably nice looking sites published via iWeb, and having all the tools supposedly integrated to incorporate podacasts, movies, etc., AND having been a .Mac/Mobile Me subscriber since 2005, with rather little relative benefit compared to other cloud/hosting services I could have used, I decided to give iWeb and Mobile Me a spin with a real project, something sort of arty. So, fine, I have created a Site, and created decent workflows for a very frequent podcast, and hit the "Publish" button.
    And waited.
As typically happens with me, I have added a challenge to this mix, in that I have another domain which I would like hosted via MobileMe, so I looked up the directions for the redirect, and dutifully edited the DNS registry for that domain to get aliasing (CNAME: web.me.com.) to work, which according to everything I can see, has. Two days have now passed, and still no site on either the MobileMe address or the aliased domain.
I believe I have done everything correctly. ANy suggestions as to how I can get my site up and running?
    Thanks in advance!

Here's how to have multiple sites in a single MMe account with one or more sites having a domain name.
    A. All sites are in the same Domain.sites2 files
1 - only one site can use the CNAME method of domain name forwarding and it must  the top site in the left hand pane of iWeb.
2 - the other sites must use URL domain name forwarding which directs the domain name to the site's full MMe URL, http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Site_Name,  or, if there is no domain name, just MobileMe's full URL.
    B. Each site is in its own Domain.sites2 file.
Again, only one site can use CNAME forwarding.  This presents a problem since CNAME forwarding directs the domain name to the basic MMe account URL: http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/ which uses an index.html file in the root folder of the account, iDisk/Web/Sites. Each time a new site is published or an existing site uses the File->Publish Entire Site a new index.html file is created in that root directory, iDisk/Web/Sites folder, directing the browser to that particular site.  This file is what the CNAME method uses to find the site it represents.  Therefore some steps must be taken to assure that the index.html file in the MMe Accounts root directory always points to the correct site.  This can be accomplished is three ways.
1 - don't use the CNAME method.  Just use  URL forwarding .  This, IMO, is the simplest method as it doesn't requre any additional effort on the user once the domain name has been set up.
2 - use the following method suggested by Wyodor in this topic: Is it possible to have multiple sites when using ur Domain name?
    In iWeb domainfile 1:
Create a dummy site : _dummy
    with a blank page.
Create your working site : Whatever
    Add pages
Publish both Sites to the same same location on the same server.
Your _dummy site is now the default Site.
    Check.
    In iWeb domainfile 2:
    Create/Use your CurrentSite.
Move a page to the top of the Site and back. Publish the Site.
iWeb will create a new index.html file in the root of the server and from now on CurrentSite is the default site.
    Check.
From now on, never move your Whatever Site to the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar and never change the page in the _dummy site.
Simply do not touch your _dummy ever again. And never forget that.
3 - use Ethmoid's suggested method in Using two sites - setting one up with separate domain? or republishing the entire site that uses  CNAME forwarding.  Just making a minor change and publishing the site changes does not create a new index.html file.
The entire site must be republsihing in order to get that new site.
Or keep a copy of the CNAME site's index.html file on your Mac and replace it manually in the iDisk/Web/Sites fodler when necessary.
NOTE:  the CNAME method provides a shorter URL:  http://www.Domain_Name.com/Site_Name/Page_Name.  CNAME does not have masking.
The URL forwarding displays the full MMe URL:   http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Domain_Name/Page_Name.   With domain name masking that will be shortened to:   http://www.Domain_Name.com for every page of your site.
However, with masking visitors will only be able to bookmark and enter at the first page of the site.  If a page is refreshed the visitor is taken back to the first page.  Also search engines will only be able to index the first page of the site.

  • Snow Leopard (10.6.8) Web Browser, App Store, iTunes Store image won't finish loading.

    Hello,
I've recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard by clean installing. Once I upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.3) everything seemed to work perfectly except for the new keyboard that I purchased (requires upgrade to 10.6.8). So as I upgraded to 10.6.8 by "Software Update…".
Once the update was completed and the machine restarted I've noticed when I opened opened couple of common sites in Safari (such as: Flickr, YouTube, and Amazon) and some of the images won't finish loading with a "?" in the middle where the image would be and browser assumes that the site was done loading. First I thought this was a refresh problem so I hit refresh on the browser but nothing really happened. I thought this was strange so I decided to download Google Chrome and Firefox to try it out as well. Same situation as well… Then I opened  the App Store and iTunes Store and the same things happened there as well. I'm assuming that all these images exists online so anything that access the web to load images will just crap out. One odd thing is that this problem don't seem to happen on any of the sites on Apple when I view it in the web browsers.
I couldn't figure out the reason so I decided to reinstall Snow Leopard (10.6.3) again by cleaning out the hard drives as before. Once it finished installing I opened up iTunes Store and Safari and the images loads fine. So went ahead (crossing my fingers) to "Software Updates…" to 10.6.8 and the the problem happened again.
I naively went ahead and tried to clean installing it again, thinking "Third time is the charm!" But same situation once I upgrade to 10.6.8. After the third time I let the browser sit there after it didn't load those images. I waited about five minutes and hit refresh and the images loaded. This happened the same with App Store and iTunes Store images as well. This is very odd because my interment connection hasn't been a changed before I upgraded to 10.6.8. Seems like browsers just cuts off the loading time of the whatever that's lagging instead on that site.
Is there a solution in the preferences for this or is this some kind of a bug that I'm having with my OS disc or network card? I don't think this has nothing to do with my modem or my interment service because it was working fine before I upgraded to 10.6.8.

I get that same problem too-you could try checking your network settings, release and renew your IP address, see if that helps. There is a tweaking menu you can get in Firefox that can help somewhat (google Firefox tweaks) but you'd have to raise the hood in FF and tinker a bit, but it does help. How much RAM do you have on your Mac Pro?, also update your Java and shockwave
sorry I can't be of more help

I installed Snow Leopard on my Macbook. It said the install completed perfectly, but now it won't finish booting up.
It just sits on the start-up window with the spinning wheel and the apple logo. I can't even eject the install disk or anything. I waited for 7 hours before giving up and just turning it off. I can't bring up any options or anything... am I done for?

  • Yet another CD burning issue--won't finish "finishing"

The subject pretty much says it all. When I try burning a CD, the computer seems to go through the process just fine until the status becomes "Burning disc.....finishing," at which time, it stops. iTunes still works and is responsive, but the CD won't finish.
I've also tried burning discs with Windows Media Player, but it doesn't seem to work either.
Immediate responses would be greatly appreciated--I need to burn a disc as a gift ASAP!
    Thanks in advance.

i think i found your drivers and downloads page at Emachines:
    Emachines T-series T1150
but there's not a lot of items of interest available there.
on the other hand, according to Samsung's support site, there's a newer version of the firmware available for your SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-224B. you've got R201, and they have R205 available for download:
    Samsung SW-224B
so it might be prudent to contact your Emachines technical support, tell them you're troubleshooting a burning issue, and asking them if the newer R205 firmware is compatible with the particular Emachines system that you have.

  • When iWeb finishes publishing, drop down shows wrong address

It's kinda weird. When iWeb finishes publishing my website, a drop down window asks, do you want to visit, announce, or finish. If you click visit, it goes to www.gogoglidepath.com/gogoglidepath. It should say www.gogoglidepath.com. Anybody know how to fix it? I know it's just a little bug, but it bugs me.

Well, no actually it is not incorrect, because that is how iWeb will publish. It will publish using a site folder with the same name as you called your site within iWeb. Did you name your site gogoglidepath in iWeb? If so, if you don't like it then you need to go back and change this in iWeb to something short like Site or S or whatever. That is how iWeb does things so your url is http://www.domain.com/sitename/pagename.
Are you publishing to MobileMe and forwarding your domain name or publishing direct to your host? If using MME there is not a lot you can do about this apart from changing to web forwarding from CNAME forwarding so that your url will be http://www.domain.com. You can then only bookmark the whole site rather than pages.
If uploading directly, you can upload just the contents of your site folder rather than the whole folder itself.

  • I cannot view my site in browser or publish my site after 2014.3 update

    Hi,
I updated to 2014.3 and cannot view my site in browser or publish. I see that alot of other people are having issues. Can you please assist. This is very frustrating.
    I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.
    Thank you
    Brett

    Hi Sanjit,
I cannot even publish the site. Muse crashes when I try to view site in browser and it crashes when I try to publish the site. It is not the browsers - yes I have tried. It has only happened since I updated to 2014.3 - just like everyone else having problems. This is a problem with the update. I can make a new site in the new release and it works - however all existing sites built before 2014.3 release is no good. This a big problem that needs sorting out. I should not have to rebuild everything again. I have sent my muse file via dropbox, as I have seen other people having trouble being asked to send the file through and it will be looked at. The url is http://australiasnaturecoast.businesscatalyst.com/ . This is not the correct version as I made a new site in the new muse update. I need my original version to work. I have tried uninstall and reinstall of Muse and this has not helped.
    Thanks

My dad has a brand new iMac. If he quits an app, this window closes, but the app won't finish shutting down, Force quitting does not work.  Once another app is opened, it will not close either.  Now none of the apps on the dock are responding. I asked him to click on the apple, and drop down to "About this Mac", but that wouldn't open either. Any ideas?  If I was at his house, I would call Apple Care in a heartbeat, but am home with my sick daughter,,,  Thanks!

For starters, have him open Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, select the volume (the indented listing) and Verify Disk. If it reports any problems, have him try a Safe Boot by holding the Shift key at startup. This boot will take much longer than usual. It's checking and trying to repair the drive directory, if possible. Once in Safe Boot, have him repair Permissions.
For other Disk repair remedies see
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
Also, have him try a PRAM Reset. At the startup chime, hold down CMD-Option-P-R together, listen for two more chimes, total three, then let go to finish booting.
Also, is he running any AV? If so, have him uninstall it. It might be responsible for this behavior. (There are no viruses for OS X.)

    Hi Russell,
themask's tip here should let you change the UserAgent string sent to the webserver:
themask, "Browser needed for online banking" #7, 07:49am Jul 16, 2005 CDT
One thing to note is that this setting is not permanent - once you close Safari/the specific tab Safari will revert to the default user agent setting.
