Siteminder SharePoint Adobe

Hi,
   There is Sharepoint 2010 site integrated with CA Siteminder agent for sharepoint 2010. This site should open an Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 when "Edit Document" command is clicked to edit a pdf file. But this result in error by Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 "There was error opening this document. The filename, directory name, volume label syntax is incorrect"
Note:
Same file is editable using standalone sharepoint site, when authentication is NTLM.
In case of siteminder+sharepoint integrated site, authentication is claim based.
Seems adobe acrobat stop sending request after it get 302 http response. Is it case that the adobe acrobat x pro cannot handle 302 http response?
Or because of claim based authentication it is not possible for adobe acrobat to handle authentication?
thanks

You can create a form to submit data to a web script. That script can be based on HTML, FDF, XFDF, or XML data types (only XML is available if you use Designer, the others are available if you develop the form directly in Acrobat). The data can then be manipulated as needed in your on-line application. I assume that is what you are referring to. If you need the form with the data, you can import the data into the form or within the 500 limit (section 15 of the EULA) can have the full form sent. However, it sounds like you want to work the data directly and the full form would just get in the way.

  • How do I get my XDP form in the SharePoint 2010 Adobe Form library?

    I was able to get the Adobe LiveCycle samples for SharePoint to work.  For some reason, I can't get my XDP forms to show up in the selection dropdown in the Adobe Form Library on SharePoint using the Adobe LiveCycle SharePoint connector for SharePoint 2010.
    Is there a trick that you have to do to the form to make it available.  The only difference that I noticed was the sample forms used a guide.
    We are using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES3 and we have Adobe LiveCycle server ES4.  We are using SharePoint 2010.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    I got this problem solved.
    Solution:
    Create new Adobe Livecyle form
    Have an xsd created for the schema of what is going to be in the form
    Import that data model when creating the form
    Right-click on xsd data connection in form.  Click Connection Properties.
    Click Next.
    Click the checkbox "Embed XML Schema" (This is what I was missing).
    Click Finish.
    That's it to make the form show up in the SharePoint Adobe Form Library.

  • How do I get Adobe Acorbat to open a .pdf file from a sharepoint library without having to checkout the file

    I have a customer that is using Adobe Acrobat pro version 10.1. When they try and open a .pdf file from a SharePoint site, the user is prompted to check out and open the file or open the file. Is there a way to get Adobe Acrobat to open the .pdf file without prompting to check out or open?
    Thanks
    Jim

    This is mostly a lion thing, rather than a PSE thing. To disable applications opening where they left off last time for all the programs on your computer, go to system preferences>general and untick this box:
    You can also do on a per-program basis, but it's more complicated and the best thing to do is to search around for directions on the web and see which way is least uncomfortable for you.
    There's an odd little glitch in PSE that it opens the last image you had open, even if you closed it before quitting last time. Adobe says this is correct behavior, but of course it isn't.

  • Opening PDF Files in Adobe Reader XI directly from SharePoint 2013 Site

    I am trying to open PDF files in Adobe Reader XI directly from a SharePoint 2013 document library using Internet Explorer 11. When I click the file name it immediately opens the file in Adobe Reader, however it is downloading and opening the file locally
    from the Temporary Internet Files location. If I add a comment to the PDF file, and save it will perform a Save As and the location will default to the temporary folder.
    If instead of clicking the file name, I click the ellipses in SharePoint, copy the file URL, and go to Adobe Reader, click File > Open and paste the link into the file name, Adobe Reader will correctly open the file directly from the SharePoint site and
    prompt for "Open and Checkout, Open, or Cancel".
    Is there a way to get it so that when I click the file in IE, I get the same functionality as a File > Open in Adobe Reader?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    According to your description, you want to open pdf file in the Adobe Reader directly from document library.
    I suggest you do as the followings:
    1. In SharePoint Central Administration site, click Application Management->Manage Web Applications, select the web application for the site. Click Authentication
    Providers, select default zone, and select Yes for "Enable Client Integration?".
    2. click Site Settings-> Site collection features->"Open Documents in Client Applications by Default" click Activate
    3. set the default open behavior for a document library by using the document library settings page.
    4. Enable the “Adobe Arcobat SharePoint OpenDocuments Component”add-on in the IE11.
    5. Add your current site URL to the trusted web sites in IE11.

  • Adobe locks when loading pdf from sharepoint site

    We have sharepoint 2010 in our environment. most of our users have adobe reader x. Some have acrobat standard X as well. I personally have Adobe Reader XI. Some of our users see this issue
    Intermittently where when they are on the sharepoint site and they click on a pdf and say open as read only, if the user has adobe reader default to display in browser what happens is sometimes (not always) the page will just be blank and act like it is loading. This can take up to 8 minutes. Also, if the user has it open with the software and selects edit, the document takes just as long. I was wondering why the process of opening pdfs can be so slow sometimes. Any help is appreciated

    Hi MrSarcastic,
    Does this happen when the end users are trying to view the same pdf simultaneously?

  • Adobe Reader XI and SharePoint Online

    We are mapping SharePoint sites as drives for our users, which utilizes WebDav.  When users are opening documents that are digital signature enabled, it is prompting them to check in/check out or open, as expected.  However, despite which option is chosen to open the file, at the next step, they receive a message stating that the document is part of a workflow and must first be downloaded to a local location (see image).
    When opening directly from the SharePoint site, the document opens as usual without any prompts, and without issue.  Has anyone else experienced this?  If so, how do we fix it?

  • How to use SharePoint integration in Adobe Reader XI?

    Acrobat XI and Reader XI are now offering a SharePoint integration feature, supporting SharePoint 2010 and 2013.
    In 'Adobe Enterprise Administration Guide' there are some requirements mentioned for SharePoint, saying that there is a Acrobat License necessary for every client computer!
    Does that mean, that I can only use the SharePoint Integration in Adobe Reader with an additional Acrobat license?
    Has anybody tried this?

    Not possible with Adobe Reader.

  • Adobe Reader XI is extremely slow (10 mins) opening a large SharePoint library (3000 docs)

    How can I speed up the opening of a SharePoint library in Adobe Reader XI using the Open from Online Account feature.  This is an onsite, locally hosted SharePoint instance (not SharePoint Online).  The library is approximately 3000 files, almost all PDFs of varying sizes.  While it is trying to open the library, the message "Enumerating <Library Name>" is displayed and it takes over 10 minutes for the library to finally open up to be able to choose or save a file.
    This maybe could be acceptable if it happened only the first time you accessed a sharepoint site or library, but this occurs every time, and makes the Open from Online Account feature useless because of the extremely long load times.  How can I fix this so that it opens instantly, as it should be doing?
    Interesting to note, if I just click Open, then type in the sharepoint site address into the filename area (and not use the Open from Online Account feature), the library opens and populates instantly.  But I need an easy way to be able to have users browse a SharePoint site to save PDFs that aren't already saved there.

    I do not think there is anything you can do to change this behavior on Reader's end. There may be a way to configure your Sharepoint Library to change this behavior. Since I am not familiar with Sharepoint, I will ask if you can set it up as a drive on your system? As to making Adobe aware of this behavior I would file a bug report:

  • Problem with SharePoint metadata (People Picker) in Adobe Reader X.

    Have a problem related metadata that is in SharePoint 2010 when I try to upload a PDF from Adobe Reader X (Online site). I have a few mandatory fields such as; Document Owner, Document Type, Date, etc..
    When I save the PDF to a document library, so fetches Adobe metadata from the designated document library. I am forced to fill in my field, but when I get to document owner field the people picker don´t work. So I can not complete the transfer/upload of the
    document.
    Any ideas or solutions?!?!
    Regards
    Anders

    Hi Anders,
    What did you mean for “upload a PDF from Adobe Reader X (Online site)”? Whether you mean that the SharePoint 2010 site is an online site.
    Per my knowledge, when you upload document into SharePoint, the metadata of the documents cannot upload to SharePoint. If you are using a third solution or party tool, I suggest you ask the third solution or party tool support for help.
    In addition, I am not an Adobe Reader expert, I suggest you ask the Adobe Reader support for help.
    I hope this helps.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro Error in SharePoint 2010

    I have a group of users who are unable to access PDF Files in a
    Specific Folder in SharePoint 2010
    They are however able to open PDF Files from emails, desktop, other shared folders and
    other folders in SharePoint 2010. See the error message below.
    Error Message:
    There was an error opening this document. File open failed.
    Note the users are currently using Adobe Acrobat X PRO.  Could this be a permission issue in SharePoint?
    Regards,

    Hello,
    In addition to permission, are you able to open same PDF from other folder or library? Just download PDF file using windows explorer and upload in any library folder and open it.
    Since you are able to open other PDF files so i suspect that there is issue with specific file only. You might also try to same file in different browser.

  • Adobe Reader And SharePoint Workflow: How To?

    Hi all,
    We are using SharePoint 2010 as our collaboration portal.
    Our Marketing department wants to use feedback workflows on PDF documents.
    The PDF documents can be commented and all reviewers should be able to do that in turn or parallel.
    We can start the workflow on the PDF document and users can edit the file by entering comments.
    However, as soon as someone has entered comments into the PDF file the corresponding SharePoint workflow tasks are cancelled?!
    It appears that when commented, Adobe Reader does not change the exisiting document, but deletes the old one (hence the cancellation of the workflow tasks by SharePoint) and consolidates the comments into a physical new document?!
    Does anyone know how to fix this and what is best practice in these scenario's?
    Much obliged,
    Vladja

    Hi SAMSUNG,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to get the full path of a document in a list workflow.
    You can set the variable to the Enconded Absolute URL of the document. The screenshot is my testing. In my testing (in the red area), when the title of a document was equal to the tile of the current item, set a variable to the Enconded Absolute URL of the
    document. I used ‘Log to history list’ to check the value of the variable in Workflow History .
    I hope this helps.

  • Bug in Adobe Reader when opening PDF's in a sharepoint library

    I can consistently reproduce this problem.
    A document library containing pdf's where the number of items exceeds the list view threshold.
    The documents are locked and checked out to another user.
    When a non-admin user clicks the pdf link, the following CAML query is sent to the server (presumably to see which user has the document checked out) - *However this CAML query fails because the list view threshold is exceeded*
    Here is an example of the caml query adobe generates
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><SOAP-ENV:Body><GetListItems xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/"><listName>{27277C40-B0FD-4E3C-9709-93434DDCCB95}</listName>
    <query><Query><Where><Eq><FieldRef Name="FileLeafRef"/>
    <Value Type="File">32977 - NZ2942.pdf</Value>
    </Eq>
    </Where>
    </Query>
    </query>
    <queryOptions><QueryOptions><IncludeMandatoryColumns>FALSE</IncludeMan datoryColumns>
    <Folder>Account Documents</Folder>
    </QueryOptions>
    </queryOptions>
    <viewFields><ViewFields><FieldRef Name="IsCheckedoutToLocal"/>
    <FieldRef Name="CheckoutUser"/>
    </ViewFields>
    </viewFields>
    <viewName></viewName>
    </GetListItems>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    HTTP 500 - List view threshold exceeeded.
    This is a bug in adobe and needs to be fixed.
    The final error is "The URL you have provided cannot be reached".
    Expected behavior - the document opens in read only mode because it is locked (and also because we are using reader and can't edit it)
    I see no reason for Reader to send a query to determine who has the document checked out.

    You will not get a response from the bug report but they DO read the reports and use them to make future updates.
    I notice a lot of the other issues reported here have not been responded to either.
    Is that the normal process?
    I haven't noticed that at all. In fact, most posts here get results as long as the poster gives enough details. Keep in mind that the answers are coming from fellow users and it is not an official avenue to contact Adobe personnel.

  • Edit Microsoft Sharepoint Meta Tags of PDF File inside Adobe Acrobat

    Hi,
    we are using in our company Microsoft Sharepoint for Document Management. In this System we have several Document Libraries where we upload our PDF Files.
    In Microsoft Office 2007 it is possible to change the Meta Data of a Office File directly inside e.g. Word. This is very handy for the user, cause he is able to read or change his document and make changes to the meta tags at the same time.
    Now my question:
    Is it possible (perhaps with an 3rd Party AddIn) to show a "Panel" inside Adobe Acrobat which shows these Sharepoint Meta Tags and makes it possible to change these?
