Does anyone know of a link to view sites and blogs created solely by iWeb? I'm curious to see others' creations.

If you're referring to last year's transition from .Mac to MobileMe, your iWeb websites are still available at the same URLs and have also been given a new URL at (www.me.com). For example, (web.mac.com/emily_parker/) will work as will (web.me.com/emily_parker)

Can I update a blog created in iWeb from another computer?

Hello Forum,
While I am away from my office base, I would like to update my blog (created using iWeb) from another computer. I have a dotmac account.
I thought doing this should pose no problems, but I simply can't figure it out.....
Hope someone can help me out on this one.

When you go to .mac and log in, you should see stories there regarding the features of .mac. One of the recent ones (should still be on the front page) is Tech note: Using iWeb on more than one Mac
Underneath this header, you'll find
"All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file (Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites), and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it.
So, if your domain.sites is small enough to fit on your iDisk, you could keep a copy there and use it from any computer that has iWeb 1.1 or later installed to update your blog.

Using Google Analytics with Muse site and /blog

Hi there,
I have a simple website that I have put together using Muse: movingpictureTV.com
For the site I have added analytics code to pick up figures etc.
The sites Wordpress blog is found at movingpictureTV.com/blog
Does this mean I need separate tracking code to pick up data for the blog or will the code used on the main site URL pick up the blog traffic too?

Hi Mark,
Usually, when google spiders visit your site, it index all the hard coded links on the home page. However, you can add analytics code to every page. It will expedite the indexing of the pages.

Old cox site and want to use IWeb

Just recently got this IMAC. Have been a windows user forever. Fustrated is to say the least and wondering if this was a good purchase or not. I know there is a learning curve, but geeze. I bought this because its supposed to be more user friendly.
I have a current personal web site on cox.net. I have folder that is under sites that I ftp'ed the site to, but am unable to open it with iweb.
Is this even possible? When I click on the index page it opens a safari page and not iweb and doesn't give me the option to use it. This is so fustrating. I wish this thing came with a manual. All the help tells me to do is how to publish it to a folder and ftp up, but not the other way around. ARGGGGG
I really would hate to have to start from scratch and recreate my site.

IMAC Mac OS X (10.4.10)

iWeb can't open or import html. If you want to use it, you will need to redo your site. There are lots of other web creation programs for the Mac. Here is one list:

Is there a way to take the code form my iweb site and put in into iweb on a different mac?

I had built my website on an old laptop - the hard drive shattered - and yes i was bad and didnt back up.....
I want to update my site - but i dont want to start all over - i just want to make some changes and re publish -
Can i get the current code off ther website- put it back into iweb make my changes and republish???

Sure, but there are 2 prerequisites:
1. Learn HTML & CSS before even touching DW. (Otherwise
you will experience
frustration).
2. Abandon the use of absolutely-positioned divs as a primary
page layout
device. Your site has a dozen or more. Read this for

Publishing Site, what happens to temporary site and forms created with Muse?

I want to publish my site, however I am wondering if the temporary .businesscatalyst.com site goes down immediately after I do this? Also, I created the forms with Muse and apparently they are connected to the URL, so will they no longer work? Or do I have to republish them? Also, do I have to pay for the published site if I am creativecloud member? Thanks any insight!

The system url will still remain when pushing live and adding your own domain. The site will naturally reflect your added domain once added however you can always access the site uisng the system URLs.
The form will naturally reflect your added custom domain and will still work under the system URL.

HT201412 My iPad 1 crashes every time I open a game app, and for some sites and blogs such as Facebook or Awesomer. What's wrong with it?

Hi, my iPad 1 can barely open a game for more than a couple of minutes without crashing and going back to the home screen.
I've had it for about 2 years but it has been happening for about a year, and now it's annoying me more than ever.
It happens on some sites like facebook and sites with lots of videos like Awesomer or Vimeo.
I though that when I update the os to iOS 5, that would fix it and while it did get better for a while, it just got worse again.
I even reset the machine, and restored it from iTunes but nothing's made any improvement.
Could anybody help me?

1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
2. Hold the Apps in Task Bar down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close Apps
4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo.

How do I delete sites created with iWeb and posted with .mac after a format

I am confused about how to delete a couple of sites that I created with iWeb and posted with my .mac after I did a format reload?
I have tried everything. The original files are not on my MacBook Pro because of the format.
I also see them in my idisc, but I is my understanding that on my MacBook Pro that I can delete the files, but they are hosted online. On the online idisk I cannot delete them because there is no option. Please help!!!

Using the file menu in Finder:
Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/YourSitesAreHere
Highlight selected files and Command/Delete. You will receive a drop down asking you if you are sure; click OK and the files/sites will be deleted immediately from the iDisk.

IWeb and blog retrieval

Hard disk crashed and iWeb does not recognize me when new disk was installed. How do I get the blog from the web.me.com (where I can see the archive) to my new disk.

Unless you have a backup copy of the Domain.sites2 file (located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder) you will have to recreate your site and blog from scratch. The entries and comments will be lost.
Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.
You can get the entries and comments off the online blog to use in rebuilding the blog. The online blog will still be there.
With the demise of MobileMe in about a year this is a good time to start your new blog on one of the blogging sites, Posterious, Wordpress, etc., so that it will continue when MMe goes away next June 30th.

If you're publishing directly from iWeb 3 to your FTP server then you'll have the following in your accounts root directory:
Site 1 folder
Site 2 folder
Site 3 folder
index.html file from last published site directling to the last published site.
If you want to keep Site 1 as the primary site you'll need to publish it one more time to the server so you get it's index.html file uploaded.
Now you'll have to publish Sites 2 and 3 to a folder on the hard drive and use a 3rd party FTP client like Cyberduck, YummyLite or Transmit to upload only the site folder (and not its external index.html file with it).
The url to sites 2 and 3 will be:
http://doman_name.com/Site 2
http://doman_name.com/Site 3

Adding a guest book to an iweb created site and problems with counter

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's possible to add a guest book to a website created on iweb? I can find the html to insert, but can't find out how to insert it on the page.
Also, I have tried adding the counter to see how many visitors I have, but it does not show up when the site is published.

How many sites can i create and publish in iweb?

i know its a dumb question - but i created and published a site for my daughter - and now i want to create one for my business. is this possible? do i simply go under file>new site, and make another one? or will it delete the site i made for my daughter?
please help!! are there third party software solutions for this if it is an issue? any strong recommendations?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. To add to Mirielle's comment regarding iWebSites let me add that I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

How do I add a blog area to a CS3 site and allow the client to add content?

My client has a web site she uses as a blog. It was built in iweb. I am redesigning it and want to use Dreamweaver. I am trying to research how to get started, I've only done static web sites so far. Any recommendations? She needs to be able to update content and does not have Dreamweaver. Not sure if this is possible. Please advise. BTW- she currently has a site so she is not interested in changing to a blogging service.

If her server supports PHP and MySql databases, use WordPress to build the site. WP is a powerful open source (free), CMS and blogging ware that's widely supported by many hosts.
