Sites for Flash tutorials?

I'm looking for a site with really good, up to date Flash tutorials. I have a membership to Lynda, but I'm looking more for short tutorials on things like text effects and feature focused tutorials. Something like the Tuts+ sites, which I believe use to have a site for flash tutorials, would be ideal. I searched the Adobe forums, but the last relavent post was in 2009. THANKS!!!

http://www.gotoandlearn.com is a good site for tutorials but, you should just lean to use a search engine like google to find tutorials that appeal to you.

    Hi,
there is a Java3D Tutorial available at java.sun.com. You need to install the Java3D package in order to develop 3D with Java. This can be downloaded from java.sun.com as well.

  • Wish list for Flash Tutorials

    Hi,
Going through the tutorial videos, sometimes I have to call a friend to find out what the word I can't grasp is.  Example, on one of the tutorials, the lady says "in the authoring environment", but I could not hear the word "authoring" properly.  My neighbor friend thought she was saying "operating environment".  But after searching the help pages for "Flash environment", "authoring" came up and was able to finally guess the word I was not able to distinguish.
This happens to me frequently.  My simple wish is for those videos to include caption text.  Hey, they do it for most TV programs nowadays, why not tutorials.  After all, tutorials are so much more important to be understood.
    Just a thought ...
    Regards,
    Ronald

Oh well, if they prefer to hide ... they'll never know what
    customers want.
BTW, I have two other [major] problems with the tutorials.
    1. When I bring them into full screen they eventually freeze.  I have to scale them back into normal size video.
    2.  After about an hour away from the PC, the pending tutorial starts to play on its own.  Last night while I was sleeping, my PC started to play the last tutorial on its own.  It just happened now.  While having dinner, the current tutorial started to play again, as if it had a mind of its own.
Or ... is there a problem with my flash player installation??
    Regards,
    Ron

  • Including Trusted sites for flash

In flex help documentation it is mentioned that if swf file
is loaded from a website which is listed trusted in browser, then
it acts as if file in local trusted sandbox.
But it does not work. Has anyone tried it?
    Here is the help quote:
    "Trusted sites and directories
The browser security model includes levels of trust applied
to specific websites. Flash Player interacts with this model by
assigning a sandbox based on whether the browser declared the site
of the SWF file's origin trusted.
If Flash Player loads a SWF file from a trusted website, the
SWF file is put in the local-trusted sandbox. The SWF file can read
from local data sources and communicate with the Internet."
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=security2_03.html
    find 'Trusted sites and directories'.

    Thanks laurent.
But the scenario is a sfollows. I have two web server running
on a host. one is apache and another is wsman(Windows remote mgmt
    service).
I place swf file under apache root. Now this swf has to
access data from same host but from wsman server.
    swf url is
    http://host:apacheport/my.swf
    wsman url is
    http://host:wsmanport/wsman.
Ws man server does not allow any kind of file to place at its
root and accept just the POST request.
So I could not use cross domain file under wsman.
Now as per flex documentation if I include host in the
trusted list of the browser, it does not need cros domain.
But it does not work. Did they changed the policy for new
    flash versions.

  • Best site for Photoshop tutorials?

I'm mocking up some dummy ads and need to brush up on a few Photoshop skills that I haven't used in a while. I'm finding that Google's completely useless for this. Nothing but pages and pages of spammy results. Any good Photoshop tutorial sites out there that you'd recommend?

We feature links to dozens of Photoshop tutorials on the
Photoshop Help and Support page. There are links to many Camera Raw tutorials on the
Bridge Help and Support page. Be sure to click the right-pointing arrow at the bottom of the Top Picks section to see more choices, or filter the list by clicking the Tutorials or Videos tabs, for example.

  • Web site for Flash galleries

I have long been frustrated that it is so simple to create a Flash web gallery in either LR or PS but so difficult (for me anyway!) to hang them all together in a coordinated web site.
Since I have CS3, I have a copy of Flash but little knowledge of how to use it. I did not want to go through a steep learning curve because frankly I will only ever create the one web site. I had someone help me put together a simple Flash site that I can make basic edits to using Flash - eg change the text and add a thumbnail for each new gallery I create.
It works great for me - if you are interested to see it (and some of my award-winning Wimbledon Tennis and South of France shots!!) you are welcome to go to http://www.duncangrove.com but do please send me some feedback.

Do we have to use the same language as the other server and

I would love to use Coldfusion on my server and retrieve info

    Is this possible? Thanks!

In 2012 I had a vehicle repossessed. Recently I decided to do something about my credit. When I ran my credit report I noticed that the lender is reporting 2 repos. 2 seperate amounts. One for 7700 and another for 738. I disputed this on EQ. It was verified so I called the lender who stated that the 2nd amount was for the repo charges. I asked her why that was not added to the 7700 account. She stated they could not. I asked to for them to send a copy of the signed contact where I agreed to pay that amount for that charge. She stated they did not have one but they could send a copy of the original loan contract, but it would take a while do to it being at another location in there file storage. How could EQ verify if the loan company doesn't have contract accessible, and can they report 2 repos for one vehicle?I don't know if it is legal or not. However, it doesn't make logical sense to me that they could split the debt into the balance owed on the vehicle and the cost to repossess. The ability to collect both the deficiency and the cost to repo is in the contract you signed with the lender. IMO that means the total unpaid deficiency would be one figure - not two separate tradelines because the contract is what permits the lender to collect both the repo fees and the deficiency amounts. If I were in your shoes I would do the following:First, send a letter to the lender in writing that they correct their reporting with the CRA's of the deficiency and be specificSecond, if the lender doesn't correct the reporting, contact the CFPB.  The upside is that they may just remove the tradelines entirely rather than correct.  GL

  • Good morning, AS3 help needed for building my own site in flash

    Good morning to all,
I am creating a site in Flash, I am using AS3 to create a
site that stops/starts the movie on my home page and I have a
series of buttons that play a head (or are supposed to) to the a
frame for each additional page. Do I need A.S. for each button as
well? I didn't think I did. The script below is the first one in
the layer titled actions, this I thought is supposed to stop/start
the movie at the beginning and the button abt_mgn_btn is supposed
to bring it to frame 10 to play my about page. ?? at my frame
number 10 should I put the stop(); script there as well? And at
every frame break for the next pages? I am hopelessly in need of
guidance. Thank you to anyone helping me out.
    import flash.events.EventDispatcher;
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    this.stop();
    function startMovie(event:MouseEvent):void {
    this.gotoAndPlay(10);
    abt_mgn_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.click,startMovie);

If you have a button on the same timeline as your code with
the instance name of abt_mgn_btn, then, when this button is
released, the playback head will jump to frame 10 of the current
    timeline and continue to play.
If you want the playback head to jump to that frame and stop
then, either use gotoAndStop(10), or put a stop(); command at frame
    10. GotoAndStop() will work more reliably.

  • How to Best Optimize Flash site for performance (not SEO)

I am a newbie to Flash design. I have build this site for my client www.888acolyte.com
I watched a bunch of YouTube Videos on how to stracture a site and then pulled together a lot of features from different learning resources.
I loved Flash for its animation capabilities and used a lot of time line tweening in my site layout. My background has a moving blurry colorful spots animation, my pages come out and assemble themselves as animations, transitions and rollover done as animations.
All of it done via Flash's time line tweening.
As the end result site is stattering in performance rather significantly. I am not sure if it is because of the animations I have employed or because of something else?
I used JPG instead of PNGs as they take a lesser size. I used an 80 quality in them out of Photoshop.
Every JPG is scaled to 75% of its actual size as I expect the site to be bigger on some bigger screens. I set it up to "Allow Full screen"
    Flash Tab Settings:
    In the export options :
    JPG Quality = 80
    No Sound
    SWF Settings:
    Checked "Compress Movie"
    Checked "Include Hidden Layers"
    Checked "Include XMP Metada"
    UnChecked "Export SWC"
    HTML Tab Settings:
    Dimensions: 100%
    Quality: High
I looked up some resources for "how to optimise a flash site"  and seems that the best one around would be from 2009: http://www.netmagazine.com/tutorials/optimise-flash-movies
There is also this "magic button" "Save and Compact", which did not seem to have much effect on the final size of an .swf file.
I hope to receive a feedback on how to properly stracture and optimize a Flash site for the best performance.
If to go into details is too complicated perhaps someone can point me to a good learning resource on the topic?

If you're just needing a flash player, have you tried the JWPlayer from Longtail Video? That's what I'm using to view flash video on my site.

  • Largest recommended size for flash site

    Hello there,
So, after just being dumped on from a great height by our development company I need to create an entire site in flash with login and dynamic addition of content etc etc..
Can anyone tell me what would be the recommended maximum size (pixel wise) for a flash site... what I have here is 1600px sq ?! Kinda large
It's mostly database driven so shouldn't lag too much from a point of view of file size, I'm just concerned because of the short deadline and I find this kind of large size wise to do 100% in flash..
I welcome your points of view !!
    Many Thanks
    Martin

    ***MOVED TO NEW THREAD***
    Hi kglad !
I know this subject is closed, but I'm wondering if you could help me a little.. If you would like me to repost I will move this to a new subject !
The swf is indeed centred but only once the window is past a certain size...
I would like, if the viewer has by example a window 1280px wide, that the swf is centred within the window with the 'bleed' area either side...
Would I need to create the background in HTML to do this ??
Also I will be using server side interaction via php within the swf. Can I simply change the suffix on my .html to .php or will this not be sufficient ?
Once again many thanks for your help

  • Creating a site for mobile devices

    Good morning,
I have a number of questions relating to the creation of a
site for mobile devices. My client has given me the assignment to
re-design his current website, and to also create a sub-site
suitable for mobiles. I have spent a number of hours looking around
on the Internet and trying to gain a better understanding of these
issues. Still, a number of questions remain. if you can give me any
additional understanding, that would be great.
    Question 1:
Is my understanding correct: I basically need to create two
sites, one for the wide-screen browser, and one for the mobile
browser? I can direct visitors to the mobile site using a CSS or
javascript link - if their browser identifies them as a mobile
    browser?
    Question 2
Mobile devices come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and
versions. PDA\s and iPhone's have different screensizes and
resolutions that smart--phones, which in turn are different again
from older and simpler phones. Should I design a site for a number
of different types of phones? That would a huge amount of work...
    Question 3
I also own Device Central, an App which I should think is
very useful in this situation. But I fail to understand it! OK, so
I can see what my photo or website or flash file looks like on my
Nokia N73 - but I am not designing specifically for that phone. I
also want my design to look good on all the other phones! My client
needs a website that is not tailored to one phone, but to all
    phones.
    Question 4
And why does Device Central not have profiles for the iPhone?
I would think it is popular enough to warrant its own profile... (I
post this from the Netherlands, where the iPhone is not carried
yet, and so I have only ever held one in my hand). Is this because
the iphone can see regular sites just fine?
    Question 5
How does Dreamweaver help me build a mobile site?
    Question 6
My client wants to show video on his website. In fact, that's
what this website is all about: showing sports-videos from high
profile sporting events. Which video-formats are most suitable?
    Question 7
Do all mobile phones support flash? Or only a few? Or none?
It seems to me that a flash website would allow for more creativity
    in the design.
Thanks for any help you can give. Any resources you could
point me to are also very welcome...
    Sincerely,
    Rogier Bos

  • 3rd Party Plugins for Flash CS4

Are there any resources to find 3rd party plugins for Flash CS4?  I've used plugins in older versions of Flash, but I'm new to CS4.  I'm wanting to a lot of cool things with a site including photo carousels, image transitions, visual effects, etc., but I'm not sure where to get started.  Perhaps I shouldn't even be looking at plugins?   Maybe I am really looking for tutorials on how to make cool effects in Flash?

Haven't seen one. Anyway lists get out of date.
I guess the best way to get the latest information is to visit each manufacturer's web site.
