Sites for Greek movies.

Hello team. I was wondering how i could use my apple tv to purchase/watch Greek movies. Living in Sydney and new to Apple, i have no idea where to start. Many thanks for your tips and suggestions. Tony.

A user interface for what. A Photoshop script a compiled application, a web interface. A graphical user interface GUI where there are graphics in the UI or just a text user interface.

  • Creating a site for mobile devices

    Good morning,
I have a number of questions relating to the creation of a
site for mobile devices. My client has given me the assignment to
re-design his current website, and to also create a sub-site
suitable for mobiles. I have spent a number of hours looking around
on the Internet and trying to gain a better understanding of these
issues. Still, a number of questions remain. if you can give me any
additional understanding, that would be great.
    Question 1:
Is my understanding correct: I basically need to create two
sites, one for the wide-screen browser, and one for the mobile
browser? I can direct visitors to the mobile site using a CSS or
javascript link - if their browser identifies them as a mobile
    browser?
    Question 2
Mobile devices come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and
versions. PDA\s and iPhone's have different screensizes and
resolutions that smart--phones, which in turn are different again
from older and simpler phones. Should I design a site for a number
of different types of phones? That would a huge amount of work...
    Question 3
I also own Device Central, an App which I should think is
very useful in this situation. But I fail to understand it! OK, so
I can see what my photo or website or flash file looks like on my
Nokia N73 - but I am not designing specifically for that phone. I
also want my design to look good on all the other phones! My client
needs a website that is not tailored to one phone, but to all
    phones.
    Question 4
And why does Device Central not have profiles for the iPhone?
I would think it is popular enough to warrant its own profile... (I
post this from the Netherlands, where the iPhone is not carried
yet, and so I have only ever held one in my hand). Is this because
the iphone can see regular sites just fine?
    Question 5
How does Dreamweaver help me build a mobile site?
    Question 6
My client wants to show video on his website. In fact, that's
what this website is all about: showing sports-videos from high
profile sporting events. Which video-formats are most suitable?
    Question 7
Do all mobile phones support flash? Or only a few? Or none?
It seems to me that a flash website would allow for more creativity
    in the design.
Thanks for any help you can give. Any resources you could
point me to are also very welcome...
    Sincerely,
    Rogier Bos

  • Lack of support for rented movies

Last night I rented a movie from the AppleTV. It appeared to download okay. But when I tried to play it, all I got was a white screen.
I immediately tried to call Apple support. After a few minutes with the voice response system, it told me they were closed – call tomorrow. Why didn’t the voice response system say that at the beginning?
I called early next morning (6:30am PDT). After navigating through the voice response system, I got a technician who asked for my AppleTV serial number and verified that I had an AppleCare agreement. After about 20 min of research, he told me to unplug the AppleTV, wait 30 sec., then plug it back in and see if that fixes the problem. Well, it did – I could view the movie. He told me the problem is due to the way the firmware handles an HDMI connection – but only with rented movies. What??? The technician then said “good, we fixed the problem you’re good to go.”
I said not so fast – and asked how Apple was going to compensate me for going through the motions of downloading a rented movie, trying to troubleshoot and calling in (only to be told I was SOL), spending 45 min the next morning, and never being able to see the movie due to an Apple hardware problem. The technician put me on the phone with his “supervisor” - again a 5 min wait on hold.
The supervisor asked what was the problem – since I still had 12 more hours to watch the movie (we were talking at 6:30am). Then she had the audacity to say there wasn’t a “technical problem” since un-plugging the AppleTV reset it and I could now see the movie. I told her that I wanted to watch the movie last night and there most certainly was a technical problem at that time - i.e., white screen. She reluctantly said that she would “try” to get me a refund for the movie.
I then asked her how was I suppose to get support in real-time for AppleTV download issues? She again reiterated that their hours are 6-6 and they don’t accept support calls after 6pm PDT. She asked why I didn’t go on-line and seek help on the Apple Web site. Excuse me? I was sitting down to dinner with my family who wanted to watch the rented movie. Going off to a computer to research an Apple hardware problem wouldn’t have been politically correct under the circumstances.
I also told her that the technician wouldn’t talk to me without evidence of a AppleCare support agreement on the AppleTV. Hey, a rented movie wouldn’t play. Why do I need an Apple support agreement to merely get what I paid for? I asked, what if I had just purchased the AppleTV, how would I solve this sort of problem? She said that I could have paid a one time $49 support charge to get someone to tell me to unplug the AppleTV. Mind you, that’s a $49 charge to see a $4.99 movie due to a known problem with Apple’s firmware. Unbelievable!
Given the frustration of not getting the movie to play (at dinner time), no realistic support to fix the problem, and the baffling conversation with Apple’s insensitive support manager - all I was offered is someone will “try” to get me a refund.
Okay, this won’t happen to me again. Because I won’t be renting or downloading movies from Apple’s service. Sorry I bought the AppleTV - wonder if I can get a refund for it?

I agree the OP could not have known to restart the device but I do rather think their expectations after receiving help were unrealistic.
From the Applecare diagnosis it was an issue with the tv that led to the OP being unable to watch their movie when they wanted, not the rental, and technically one would need warranty or Applecare to receive phone based support for the tv.
I accept it was unfortunate the OP's experience wasn't as it should have been and that it was made a little worse by not being able to speak to someone out of hours, although I do see the need for staff to verify that Applecare has been purchased with each caller.
At the end of the day, the OP's issue was resolved and their was no financial loss to the OP. These things happen, it's unreasonable to expect, or fulminate over not getting, some form of compensation, (although it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for the rental for free without expectation). What sort of compensation does one thing you would get from Canon if your video camera broke down in the middle of filming your sons graduation day ceremony.

  • Is there a plug-in for cropping movies?

Is there a plug-in for cropping movies? I asked this question a few months ago, and someone suggested a plug-in that turns everything outside a cropping window into a background color. I would like to be able to do true cropping. I hope it's not necessary to extract all the frames, crop them one at a time, and then put them back together.

...I would like to be able to do true
    cropping...
that does mean, you want to chop off some parts, BUT
you need to blow the rest to avoid the mentioned
    borders...
that's called a crop&zoom, you get it here
    http://imovieplugins.com/ for 2.5$ (search for
    zoom)
    I quote the website:
this plug cannot improve the quality of the
footage. if you zoom part of the picture, very soon
you will see a ‘pixellation’ effect, i.e. the picture
becomes blocky. the plug does everything it can to
    interpolate between pixels,...
Yep, that's exactly what I want to do. Of course, I realize that it will appear pixellated if it's also zoomed. My main goal, however, is to eliminate the unwanted part of the movie so that I can fit it on my web site. Thanks!

  • Multiple sites for different geographic areas

i did a website for a letting agency in glasgow (
    http://www.youlet.co.uk ) but
now the company has decided to open up an extra branch in
cambridge. iv optimised the original site and it appears in top 4
under certain optimised key phrases in msn and yahoo. iv been asked
to make a duplicate site for the cambridge office. now obviously
pages like the property search will have different content but more
informative pages like the home, about pages will be practicaly
identical other than changing all text references and keywords to
    contain cambridge instead of glasgow.
so as not to mess with the ranking of the existing site, i
was going to put that whole site into a subdomain like
website/glasgow, do the same with the cambridge version then have
an index page on the main site linking off to the 2 sites.
what i wanted to ask was by doing this subdomain idea will
this allow each site to be treated as a site in its own right and
allow the glasgow veriosn to get back to where it was in the
rankings with it getting ignored as it is a subsdomain?
and also because the glasgow and cambridge sites will be
mostly identical apart from references to the location will this
count as being duplicate sites and count as spam?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. When publishing multiple sites to to a MobileMe account the last published site will be accessible via the simple URL: http://web.me.com/youraccountname/
However each site has it's own URL which would be:
    http://web.me.com/youraccount_name/sitename
So you need to tack on the site name at the end of the simple URL.
For what it's worth I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want. It's something you might want to take a look at.

  • How Large is Too Large for a Movie These Days?

Hi, we're developing our portfolio site which will have a LOT
of images that must be very high quality. So to keep quality up I
know we have to sacrifice file size (or vice-versa).
We've divided each of the sections of images into separate
movies so there is usually less than 8 images per movie. That way
someone would only need to wait if they clicked to see a specific
    movie.
    - My question is: What is considered 'large' for a movie file
    in these days of broadband?
We are not planning on having preloaders for the individual
movies, and would like them to come up pretty quickly (so no
sluggishness or blank screens). I'm also looking into how to have
the movies loading in the background so that there would be less or
no delay once they are called up.
As an example, one of our larger sized movie tests showed a
size of around 350k for med-high quality, and about 750k for really
good quality. We prefer to have the quality of the latter, but
don't want people to get frustrated waiting.
On our local med-fast broadband (3.0Mb/Sec DSL) the large
movie loads up pretty much instantly and looks great. But we don't
    want to alienate anyone.
    THANKS!

I think you simply have to judge your audience - are they
likely to have ultra fast broadband or ten year old dial up
    connections ?
My rule of thumb is to work for the lowest connection likely.
In the UK most medium to large commercial organistaions (my
market) have at least a 4mb connection so I optimise everything for
that. (Always bearing in mind that it's shared by hundreds or
thousands of users at any given location).

  • Best compression for iWeb movies

I am building a web site with many short movies I edited in iMovie and Final Cut Express. The movies are about 30-90 seconds each. I would like to use the most trouble free compression method available. By trouble free, I mean for the web site visitor. I do not want visitors to have problems with downloading my movies. I want Windows and Mac users to be able to have an equally easy time. I think I have narrowed it down to using either the H264 CODEC and ask visitors to download QuickTime 7 before downloading my movies or I am also considering Sorenson or MPEG-4. I would like to get a few different opinions on this from people who have working web sites with short movies. Please include a link to your web site so I can check out the performance of your site.
    Thanks,
    Frank

    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/03war/
    My pages as an example.
Sometimes it's better to use some "tricks" to give your pages and movies a bigger "wow" factor.
I would suggest MPEG-4 settings instead of H.264. As much as it is a great codec and makes nice looking files it forces the viewing machine to have QuickTime 7 installed. Older OS's (lower than 10.3.9 or Windows 98) can't even install it.
Small file sizes help reduce bandwidth use and speed up the downloads.
Playing files using the QuickTime Player or at dimensions like double size helps give a wow your visitors remember.

  • Suppress "Barcode-Pop-Up" for MM-Movements of other plants

In order to archive different kind of attachments for MM-Movements, a barcode will be entered in the “Standard Barcode Pop-Up functionality” (T-Code OAC5) provided by SAP every time a movement is beeing created.
Additional SAP let you configure for which "Object type/Document type/User"
(also over T-Code <i>OAC5</i>) and for which "Movement types and  transactions" (IMG: <i>Materials Management->Inventory Management and Physical Inventory->Goods Receipt->Activate storage of incoming documents</i>) the Pop-Up for entering a barcode will be shown.
The problem we have now is that more sites are on the same system and we should configure the system so that only for specific sites (MM-Plants), the Pop-up should be shown. Does somebody know some additional customizing or an easy way to assess a solution to this request?
Thanks in advance and best regards

On 4.6C it is not possible (under standard situations).

    Hello darkhawk,
Thank you for the recommendation.  I somewhat understand what a MS DOS disk is, but I'm not sure how to go about creating one. I've seen where you can use a program, like Rufus, to create a usb one  - but I'm leery about using 3rd-party programs (especially ones I'm not familiar with). I've come across a couple of 'how-to' tuts, but they didn't clarify what files (if any) I would need to include on the disk (for my particular situation). Right now I don't have any blank cds, nor any extra flash/thumb drives - wish I did, but hadn't needed these for years. There has only been one other time where I needed to re-install Windows, but that was over 15 years ago - I did it through BIOS, reformatting my drives, and then reinstalled via the Windows XP disk. Windows 8 is an entirely different breed, which has left me feeling a bit stumped, at times. If there was a way I could perform it (successfully), similar to the first time I did it years ago, I'd give it a try - but at the same time, I'm a bit reluctant, because if it doesn't work, then I'm stuck without any internet access to get further help.
Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.

Also very useful for sorting out virus's as long as it's downloaded and made on another PC that is virus free......

  • Multiple Preloaders for Multiple Movie Clips

Designed in Flash 8, the site's timeline is all in Scene 1
and is comprised of an introduction, which contains a short video,
and 6 movie clip categories that the user selects to view. Since I
want the intro to play as soon as possible, I'd like to limit the
first preloader to just the video in the intro and not
_root.getBytesTotal. Then, as the viewer watches this short video,
the rest of Scene 1 movie clips will keep on loading. After the
intro, the viewer will choose which of the 6 categories to view.
These categories are identified with buttons which play the
particular movie clip. Since I don't know the order of the
categories they will select, I thought there should be a separate
preloader for each category. Hopefully, after they view a category,
the rest of the categories will have loaded and the loading time
will be nil. The design for the preloader is comprised of a status
bar and a percent loaded. Is there a way to limit the
_root.GetBytesTotal to specific frames? I know I could break these
categories up into separate SWF files but then I loose the
advantage of one loading while another is being viewed.

MovieClipLoader is a built in class of functions that will
allows you to easily load Media (swfs/jpgs) from external sources.
This will create a MCL object
    var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader
We want the MCL object to receive events for any movie that
is loaded into the main timeline
    mcl.addListener(this);
Ok. now we have a movie clip loader that is able to recieve
events. Since we want to show the progressive download and want to
do something with that content after it loads, we need to declare
two event handlers onLoadProgress and onLoadInit. onLoadProgress is
pretty straight forward. onLoadInit executes it's action as soon
all of the AS on frame 1 of its time has finished loading. In this
case, we want two different things to happen. 1st, load the first
clip and show it.... 2nd, load all remaining clips into the buffer.
But first, lets declare those next...
    function onLoadProgress( target:MovieClip,
    bytesLoaded:Number, bytesTotal:Number):Void {
// standard preloader code goes here
    function onLoadInit( target:MovieClip ):Void {
// display the clip - this will be as easy as just calling
our loadClip function for the mcl...more on that in a minute
// If you want something special to happen, i.e. movie fades
in or a mask is applied to it, you'd do that here.
Now all we need to do is call the loadClip member function
for the MovieClipLoader. Just replace the two parameters with the
location of the swf and then the name of the instance you want it
    to load into
    mcl.loadClip( "myswf.swf", targetMovieClip );
The other movie clips are now a breeze as well. For each
button, just add an on(release) or onRelease = function (depending
on your situation) to just call that mcl.loadClip() line from up
above. Just change the movie you want loaded.
Let me know if you need more help...

Why don't you just extend the VLAN so you don't have to create another site and do changes so much
