Sites say browser not accepting cookies. But preferences set to accept cookies.

Suddenly, web sites I've signed onto several times in the past say I can't sign in because my browser doesn't accept cookies. My preferences are not set to reject cookies. This may not be related, but in addition, when I try to log onto AT&T/Yahoo to retrieve my mail, the site just keeps jumping around and resetting over and over. These things occur on both Safari and Firefox. I changed to Lion about a month ago, but these problems occurred about a week or two afterwards.
I have a Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3 running 10.7.3. All software is up to date. Help!

I have a MAC desktop, running Safari 1.5.4. I have logged into one site numerous times with no problem, but now I can't log into it. When I go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy and check, MANY sites are accepting cookies, but not the one I need today -- it has accepted cache and plug-ins from that site. So I went to the Develop area and Show web inspector, and Cookies and it does not show up (which confirms my problem). So I switched cookies to always allow, rebooted, and brought up the site in question again, but that did not solve my problem. This is a huge issue for me. How do I resolve it?

If it is any consolation this started happening to me today. I am in Toronto. I am wondering if there is a copyright issue here. I have done nothing to solve it - mostly because I suspect this has nothing to do with my computer.
p.s. My speculation about copyright is not correct. Comedy Central plays fine with Google Chrome. Have not yet tested Firefox.

I have an iPad that will not allow me to accept iCloud terms and conditions. It just says server not available. But on an annoyingly regular basis a pop up asks me to accept term and cond, I go to iCloud and try to but that is when it tells me it cannot connect to the server. Frustrating as I cannot get rid of the pop ups.

Thanks champion! Apple support is useless! Way too difficult to get anywhere with their "support"

  • Microsoft Adcenter says browser not supported

Microsoft Adcenter says browser not supported and tells me to enable cookies and java yet these are enabled

    Hello Siborg.
Can you provide me with a link for this site? You may need to contact Microsoft about this, though.
Or you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • My battery icon has disappeared from my menu bar at the top of the screen and the energy saver preferences simply says 'Could not load Energy Saver preference pane'

My battery icon randomly disappeared a few months ago from my menu bar and i have been unable to make it come back. After researching solutions online it soon became clear that all of the suggestions needed me to go into the energy saver preferences in the setting however the icon for the energy saver preferences is no longer there and whenever i click in the blank space where it used to be, it simply says 'Could not load Energy Saver preference pane'. As a result of this i never know how much battery i have left and so i just have to wait for the machine to die each time
The mac in question is a 13 inch 2012 macbook air that is running on OS Mavericks at the moment.
Any ideas on how to get the icon back?
    - I recently discovered by accident that before i actually log into my account on my mac, when i am still on the page that contains the options of guest user etc. at that point the battery icon is displayed in the top right hand corner? Why is it that the icon exists there but not once i have logged it? Thankyou for any advice.

Saying "browser not supported"  - what to do?

    A couple of options:
Turn on the Developer menu. You can do this with a tool like iTweax 2.3 and try changing the user agent.
    Download and use Firefox instead.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • When addressing my router, Firefox says "browser not authentication capable"

I am trying to address my Linksys router. The authentication is failing with the following error message displayed
    401 Authorization Required
Browser not authentication-capable or authentication failed.
I am able to address the router using Internet Explorer.

English translation (This did work for me.):
"I had this problem too. Tick away at 'Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked.' After doing this, the problem was solved."

  • Firefox won't delete cookies even after set to clear cookies on firefox exit

I have use custom settings for remembering history in firefox.
I set to clear history on firefox close. Under this settings, I set to clear cookies, active login and cache. But whenever firefox exits it doesn't remove cookies.
Also, I set to keep cookies till firefox closes. Still the cookies appears.
This is a big security issue for me..When I click restore previous session, firefox restores the login into sites also which I don't want

    Got It!!!
Go To: Firefox/Tools/Options/Privacy/Tracking Checked box/Tell websites I do not want to be tracked/ History Firefox will: Never Remember History/ You may also want to: clear all current history/ Clear now/ click OK, ---> got it, that is your answer.<-- (Right click the left image below to open in a new tab)
And it is my answer as well, as I was confounded with this problem for some time. Now after you do this close your Firefox browser, and open back up Firefox browser, and there will be maybe only one or two cookies, depending on your browsers' home page.
I tried other methods to get rid of persistent cookies that would not delete by, CookieKiller, and TACO Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out, those did not help, and I tried the methods listed on these links but they did not work:http://webdevwonders.com/clear-dom-storage/
Also this method did not work:http://justplainobvious.blogspot.com/2009/03/firefox-wont-delete-cookies.html
Next to make your Firefox browsing possible, go to/Firefox/Tools/Options/Privacy/,Tracking Checked box/Tell websites I do not want to be tracked, History Firefox will: Use custom settings for history, unchecked box Always use private browsing mode, unchecked box Remember my browsing history, unchecked box Remember download history, unchecked box Remember search and form history, checked box Accept cookies from sites, checked box Accept third party cookies, Keep until: I close Firefox, checked box clear history when Firefox closes, /settings all nine boxes checked/ click --->OK! (Right click the right image below to open in a new tab)
    All Cookies are gone/history/deleted.

  • Firefox wont update to v5 and the main site says i`m using v3 but my browser says in using v4...whats gone wrong?

I have version 4.0.1 ( Help -> About Firefox) and i keeps saying i need to install version 5. I get the download and it says its installing, but nothing happens. I then get a new window saying i need to install the update and when i click the Next button i get a "Conecting to server" message...which just sits there for doing nothing.
This is about the 8th time i downloaded and installed version 5 but to no avail. So i decided to check the Main sites FAQ. heres where things get intersting. According to the main site i`m running version 3.0.16(or something like that)

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is probably messed up by an extension or another program that you installed.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
    Filter = general.useragent
Right-click the preferences that are "bold", one line at a time, and select "''Reset''",
    Then restart Firefox
