Sites that use adobe flash player work on safari but not on firefox-it keeps asking me to download adobe flash player

Whenever I try to use a web site that needs Adobe Flash Player, Firefox asks me to download it. When I download it and try again, it still asks me to download. When I access the same web site using Safari, I have no problem. This is true for many web sites - whichever ones require Adobe Flash Player.

Carole,
You do not seem to have Adobe Flash (aka Shockwave Flash) installed. If you did you would see it listed under your plugins. Follow the instructions in the article below to install Flash in Firefox.
See: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+the+Flash+plugin
After the installation, check your version here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
or here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
Current version is: 10.1.53.64

  • Flash page works in Safari but not in Firefox

I generate my web pages using LR. When I launch my pages on Safari they look great but on Firefox the slideshow portion is sized MUCH smaller. I have attached the page herehttp://www.8aphotography.com/Interior_Photography_Page/index.html. Please check out on both Firefox and Safari to see what I mean. If anyone can give guidance that would be much appreciated.

I figured it out. I did not have a </div> at the end of a group of text I added. Funny how Firefox picked it up but not Safari.

  • Flash Player works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9

I've installed Flash Player 10.3 and it works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9. When I look in Manage Add-Ins I see Flash Shockwave but not Flash Player. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit). Safari is 5.0.5 and IE 9 is 9.0.8112.16421. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash Player and uninstalling Norton 360. Nothing has worked so far. Can you help?

Thank you for your reply. Shockwave is loaded and enabled.
The files in flash directory are: a folder called FlashPlayerTrust: file, flash10q.ocx: file, FlashInstall.log; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.dll; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.exe, file, install.log.
    There is no file: NPSWF32.dll.
When I test the browsers I get no spinning logo in either Safari or IE9. Safari says: missing plug-in, where I think the logo should be. IE-9 says nothing at the same location.
    Thanks.

  • This site works in Safari but not in Firefox

This site works fine in Safari but not in the latest version of Firefox on 2 of my computers:
    http://ase.tufts.edu/biology/labs/levin/resources/books.htm
I've cleared cache, restarted, etc. - no good. On Safari, I see a bunch of tiled thumbnails for various books on Amazon. On Firefox, I see absolutely no thumbnails, just rows of text and horizontal lines (I can't figure out how to upload attachments here).

Aha! Restarting without add-ons fixed it. I must have something that blocks iframes with links to Amazon books. Thanks!

  • Flash player work with Safari, but not with Internet Explorer

My flash player had a problem so I uninstalled it.  I had a problem downloading the player with Internet Explorer, so I successfully download it with Safari.  The player works fine with Safari, but I cannot get it to work with Internet Explorer 8.
I used to have the Flash Player 10 Active X (10.1.85.3), which I had uninstalled.
I now have the Flash Player 10 Plugin (10.1.85/3)
The problem I had downloading the player with IE was that the "allow Active X" information bar never appeared and I was unable to see any download at all.
How do I get flash to work with my Internet Explorer 8 (8.0.7600.16385)?

This adobe web site worked easily for me, when I needed to install adobe flash JUST for IE8.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
All you need to do is choose your OS in the top window, then in the bottom window choose "Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for Windows Internet Explorer", and voila, that is what adobe installs!! Give it a go. I had problems too, before I foud this. Diligent

  • Flash with QT 7.3 works in Safari, but not in Firefox

Like many others here, I have been having issues with the upgrade to QT 7.3 and Flash. I've followed a few different suggestions from here on the forums, but I've only been able to get Flash working in Safari; Firefox remains mysteriously broken. Has anyone else been having issues with Flash in Firefox only?
I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.9 and Flash 9.0.47 (the latest version available for download from Adobe's site). I'm planning on upgrading to 10.5.1 soon, and while I didn't see the Flash/QT problem addressed in the list of bugs that it was supposed to fix, I still wonder if that might help.

Well, after about five hours retracing my steps, I finally figured out the offending code - it was the submit button.
    On this page:
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/consumer_add_query/index.php
    It works fine with:
    <input type="submit" name="KT_Insert1" id="KT_Insert1" value="Post your query" />
    But on this page:
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/consumer_add_query/indexb.php
It only works in Safari with:
    <input name="KT_Insert1" type="image" id="KT_Insert1" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('KT_Insert1','','../images/buttons/post_enquiry2.jpg',1)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" value="Post your query" src="../images/buttons/post_enquiry1.jpg" border="0" />
As its now nearly 2:30am, I'm not going to try to figure why that should be right now.
Its nothing if not frustrating sometimes, this web design lark!

  • Insert record page - works in Safari, but not IE / Firefox

I've been working on a form where users can post an enquiry to a database.
Thought it was all starting to come together, but I noticed at another client's today that it didn't work in IE.
In Safari you fill in the form, hit the Post Enquiry button and you go to an Enquiry Added page.
In IE / FF it looks as though the page just refreshes, and nothing happens...
You can see what I mean by logging in here with:
    testusername
    testpassword
    and click on Post Enquiry
    http://www.goodsafariguide.com/consumer_login/
Any ideas why that would be or how to fix it?
    Thanks.

  • Persistent problems with Flash. Works for IE but not for FF. I have uninstalled and re-installed Flash as directed (twice). FRUSTRATED!!!

I have carefully followed all the instructions provided on the FF and ADOBE sites. Can't keep searching in FF and then switching to IE to play Youtube videos or other FLash content.

Are you aware that a different version of Flash is needed for Firefox? <br />
IE uses the ActiveX version of Flash, while Firefox would use the Plugin version - if it was installed.
I don't see a Flash '''Plugin''' in your More System Details.
Maybe doing the reset of the plugins file - pluginreg.dat - file will help.
If not, check the control panel for the Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin version of Flash.

  • How can I copy-paste text from Firefox to Apple Mail preserving all formatting? It works with Safari but not with Firefox, otherwise I'd pick Firefox

I have a very big list of correspondents to whom I often send articles.
I cannot copy them from Firefox and paste them onto Apple Mail because they look WEIRD and not at all like the original. Most formatting disappears.
I do not encounter the same problem with Safari, and THAT is one of the two reasons I am forced to use it even if it gives me lots of problems.
The other one is that Safari 5 has a built-in RSS reader, which is essential for my work.
If you could manage to have those two things working, I'd pick Firefox in a second and advertise the fact to thousands who would do the same.

Try one of these feed readers if the build-in Firefox reader doesn't suit you.

  • Flash 10 works in FF but not Safari, OS X 10.5

About a week ago flash stopped working in Safari and both firefox and safari started bugging me to install a newer version.  Muttering, I went to the download page and downloaded the latest, which claims to be for Safari, Opera, and firefox.
Installation completes fine with no errors.  Firefox works.  But in Safari, I just get the usual 'no flash installed, would you like to download it?'
I've downloaded and installed multiple times, no dice.  Plug-ins are enabled on Safari.  I do not have settings folders to delete--/Library/Application Supprt/Adobe has no flash player folder, only Acrobat, Updater6, and Help.
This whole thing is a black box and I don't see what else to do.  Installation completes and there's no way to verify anything.  Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks! BTW I'm also having trouble updating Adobe Reader. I have 9.4.0 and want to update to the new Adobe Reader X. I keep getting Error 1402 which refers to the registry keys. I am unable to completely uninstall the old version. After receiving the error message it reloades the older version. I read about how to modify the registry to accept it but I believe this is a very wierd way to have to get an update loaded. Any suggestions?

Subject: Flash Player works in IE8 but not Safari
Hi Bruce, Adobe Flash Player is Installed separately into IE, since Windows uses the ActiveX Control. Firefox and other non-IE
browsers must use the plugin Installer.
This is the Adobe site :

    Hope that explains it.

  • Flash in Safari but not in Firefox or vice versa?

Can I have Adobe Flash enabled on Safari, but not on Firefox?
I'd like regular, usable browser and one very safe, minimal browser.

    HI,
Not sure if that is possible but an alternative is to use ClickToFlash available here.
Free, easy to install, compatible with Safari 5 + and Snow Leopard v10.6.4
    http://clicktoflash.com/
When you visit a site where Flash content is streamed, just control or right click to start Flash.

  • Photo Gallery - works in Safari but not Firefox .. ?

    Hi,
    I have a photo gallery at http://www.sg-karting.com/Racing/Photos/Photos.html
When I go into the albums, pictures are displayed in Safari but not on Firefox.
When creating this page on iWeb I selected 'Web Gallery' instead of 'Album'. Does this make any difference?
    Regards.

I have just visited "http://www.sg-karting.com/Racing/Photos/Pages/KartingEdgeRound-1.html" using both Safari Version 3.0.4 (523.12) and Firefox version 2.0.0.9 on a G4 PB 10.4.11. And both browsers displayed the same information from what I can see. All the pictures revealed themselves.
Have I picked the correct album for your example?
I tried other area's of your web site and all appeared to be the same as the Safari. Maybe you need to clear your cache.
