Sites w/ .pdf or .ashx documents as the full page or as an insert in the page don't load the .pdf or .ashx documents - I get an Problem Report window that says "Firefox Plugin Process quit unexpectedly" and sends the error to Apple so I have had to revert to Firefox 3 getting rid of 4. Anybody have any thoughts?? (I'm runnng OSX 10.6.7)

OK, I think I have this solved. After reading my post over, I decided to rethink the problem. First thing I did was download Chrome and I tried using that and IE again and surprise! I was having the same problem on those browsers as well. So now we know it wasn't Firefox. I then figured maybe a slow computer meant a virus, so I ran scans. I've had both Avast and IOBit for months now and I've never had a problem with either of them before. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a third scan. They all picked some stuff up, but nothing serious. Then I tried disabling all the antivirus stuff and that didn't solve anything. But then I decided to keep Malwarebytes and I uninstalled IOBit Security and whammo - problem solved.
I have no idea why out of the blue IOBit would be causing a problem like this so if someone knows, please let me in on the secret. Additionally, IE was working fairly well last night but not this morning. I also don't know why removing IOBit would take care of the nsAppShell issue, because supposedly, that's related to Firefox plug ins. And one more thing...when Comcast hooked my neighbor up to cable, they did it by putting a splitter on my line. They were messing about with the lines yesterday before I got on my computer last night trying to decide how to rerun them and today they did that, taking the splitter off my line and giving my neighbor his own line. That was finished about 30 minutes before I uninstalled IOBit. So....who knows?
But I ain't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I have my Firefox back and I am so sorry for bad mouthing you last night - I love you, Firefox!

This is quite odd. Where did you get the Reader installer from? I would suggest uninstalling it and then downloading the installer from Adobe (here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/ ) and re-installing it. -

I got a pop-up window from Firefox saying that I needed to upgrade (I had Firefox 14.0.1). I have a Mac desktop with operating system Lion. When I'd try to connect through the prompt on that window, it wouldn't connect. So I went to the Mozilla website and downloaded version 15.0.1.dmg. But I'm still getting the pop-up window.
Also, when I start my computer, there's always a question mark in the Firefox place on the dock and a window that prompts me to drag the firefox emblem over to another emblem. But when I do that, I get a window that says that this is an older version of Firefox than the one that's installed, do I want to replace it with the older one (which I have declined to do).Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

I ran the latest Numbers update and now I cannot open several of the Numbers files I created and saved previously. When I try, a box appears that says I need to update to a newer version of Numbers. I ALREADY updated to the newest version!!!! Any suggestions?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you upgraded Numbers to the most recent version, the Mac App Store kept the old version in case you need it in the future. Your problem is that you are opening the old version by mistake instead of the new one.
To fix this, open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar and drag the new Numbers version (the one with the new icon) to the Dock. By doing this, you can access to the new Numbers version easily, so you will not open the old version by mistake anymore. Also, I recommend you to open the documents after opening Numbers. The same applies for all other iWork applications.
If you want, you can remove the old Numbers version, but some users have complained about the lack of features of the new Numbers version. Apple will add more features in the future. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US -

The window says "Indexing Firefox History" and stays up for about 3 seconds, then closes.
It's on a MacBook Pro, 8GB memory, 500GB SSD, latest patches up and running.
I don't doubt that this has been going on all the time with the various versions, but this version seems to have enabled the status window popup.Hi - I had the problem and traced it to the recent install of Launchbar 5 - stopped that and the problem went away. Looks to me as if you may need to check if you have a similar tool that may be running the indexing.

I recently did some HD clean up and I'm plagued by this window. I can get it to go away briefly if I restart the computer but it always comes back.

Od aktualizacji Firefoxa z wersji 20.0.1. do 21.0 dręczy mnie problem wtyczki Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin.
Po aktualizacji Firefoxa strony proszą mnie o zainstalowanie tej wtyczki tak jakby jej wcale nie było a przecież tą wtyczkę mam już od jakiegoś czasu zainstalowaną i korzystałem z niej.
Firefox aktualizację przeszedł bez błędów, nie było żadnych niezgodności dodatków lecz mimo tego wtyczka, którą mam zainstalowaną w systemie nie widnieje w Dodatki---> Wtyczki.
Naprawiałem wiele razy tą wtyczkę, skanowałem system na obecność wirusów, przeinstalowałęm Firefoxa kilka razy, szukałem w regułach zabezpieczeń czy mi czesem coś tej wtyczki nie blokuje.
Wyszukałem na dysku pliki "npdsplay.dll" i "np-mswmp.dll" są w systemie.
Pierwszy z nich w:
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player
a drugi w:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins
....właśnie przed chwilką wpadłem na rozwiązanie problemu. Trzeba zawartość folderu "Plugins" w lokalizacji:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
skopiować do:
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player.
...W takim razie nie będę już kończył tego pytania ale mam inne do twórców Firefox:
Po co wy do diabła tak kombinujecie z tym nowymi wersjami? Następnym razem też będę musiał jakieś pliki przenosić gdzieś bo coś nie będzie mi po aktualizacji działać?
Kiedyś nie było tylu aktualizacji i było lepiej ...a teraz co? Aktualizacje częste ale wiele jest z nimi problemu. Niezgodności wtyczek są z pewnością utrapieniem wielu użytkowników.
Poprawcie się, bo inaczej większość zwieje na Chrome.
Pozdrawiam.There has been a change in where Firefox searches for plugins and the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder is no longer scanned for plugins, so Firefox won't find them anymore if they are installed in the plugins folder instead of the "browser\plugins" folder that Firefox now scans.
You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins like the WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll).
You can alternatively move plugins from "<install directory>\plugins\" to "<install directory>\browser\plugins\" (create this folder when missing) to make Firefox find them again.

When I open a PDF and try to use the Ctrl F (Find feature), the colorful spin wheel pops up and it spins for a while. When it finishes I get an error box that’s titled ‘Adobe Reader Quit Unexpectantly’. The following is all of the information in that box. I work off of a MACBOOK Pro, version 10.9.2. Reinstall OS X. That will also reinstall a new copy of Safari for you.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utiliities to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery. -
Please help! I am on a MAC and I can't get past it saying Adobe Application Manager quite unexpectantly. It gives me the options of "OK", "Re-open" or "Quit". I have tried all of them and they all get me no where!

You can download directly if using a different browser also fails.if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-direct-download-links.html and activate with your serial number. if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies. The most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com), failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com.

Time Machine error- backup directory
Yet another person with the same error: Time Machine backup has been working just fine for about 2 months to a Time Capsule. Suddenly, all I get is "Time Machine Error. Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup directory.
