My husband is excited that the iPad is coming to Canada at the end of the month. I figured he would be signing up to pre-order but he said no. He thinks he might wait until next year in case they release a different model with different features. I was thinking of buying him one for his Birthday/Father's Day. Should I follow suit and just wait until next year?

I would not say do or don't, but I would say either way you win. For a gift, if there is nothing else as good, it would be a very nice gift.
I just bought one about a week ago and I like it much more than I thought I would. About a year ago I go first the Kindle, and then the Kindle DX, and ended up returning them, so if I did not like the iPad I would have returned it.
In fact, I use the Kindle reader app much more than the iPad reader app. Don't really like the iPad reader app and though I like the e-paper display on the Kindle, I like the iPad display better. I think I will be more likely to read an iPad in the dark than to be on a beach or somewhere and want the read in bright sunlight capability that the Kindle gives one.
I got the 64GB one because as someone said, you can't upgrade, so you gotta do it now and not regret. I also got WiFi ... but no 3G. Could have gone either way, but WiFi is faster than 3G and I don't think I will need 3G. If it was able to be used as a cellphone, I would have done it. The WiFi works well although coming out of sleep mode it takes a while.
The memory I have very quickly filled up much of it. I have a lot of audiobooks, and podcasts and videocasts. I like to watch news, and free iTunesU videoclasses. This thing is great.
I thought the screen would be hard to read because I am slightly far-sighted and cannot read small print. It is not much of a problem. The finger scrolling and expanding works well.
The audio and video works well. The reader, the web is nice. I hope to be able to see things like Hulu soon enough, and it would be nice to use have a wireless earphones and microphone ... none are out yet ... with microphone.
I have a few minor criticisms, but I think it is useful enough to be "there" now, so it is not a toy or a waste ... I figure until I will want to upgrade to whatever is next I will use the heck out my iPad.
Be warned that the peripherals are not cheap. I spent $40 on the case, about $80 on a Booq Taipan Shadow XS bag, that I think is the best out there, and about $80 on the keyboard charger stand. Just spent more on bluetooth headphone to be able to walk arounda and listen to my iPad.
Also ... there is a Skype "audio" app that is free, so you can make phone calls with it.
So ... it's a good gift, but whatever is going to be next year will likely be OK as well. I was hoping for video camera, flash animation capability, and more memory. The OS takes some getting used to as well. All it all it is very useful for me and that is my big thing. Apple has done a good job. With as many computers as I have bought, built and used, it was not until I got my iMac that I feel that I have a real useful computer that adds to my life and is not just a gadget ... the iPad feels similar.

I have a PB G4, 867 with about 720meg RAM and I'm pretty much at the limits of my iPhoto capabilities (I have a real slowdown when I load the entire library) and iMovie is a real tridge (though it works) for small movie clips that I take with my point & shoot camera; nothing HD at this time.
iDVD works, but takes forever to do anything (speed-wise).
Anyway, the more I do digitally, I'm seeing that it's time to upgrade my PB. However, I am really on the fence as far as what to get.
I've been tweaking various configurations on the Apple site for the MacBook and the the new MacBook Pros; however, with the new Mac Pros out, I find myself looking there as well and now I simply have no idea what to get or would be the best option for me.
So, here is what I have and what I do and if someone would be kind enough to offer some adivce/suggestions, I would appreciate it.

* 19" flat monitor (non-apple, not digital connector)
I used to travel a lot and used my PB for business, but now it sits closed on my desk with everything connected so right now it's pretty much a desktop machine. I used my gaming console for games so other than the occasional online game, I don't really use it for games.
I DO see myself doing more and more with video and photos if I didn't have such a hard ceiling on performance (liek I have now). I started using iWeb much more (I do web stuff as my career but when I get home, I really don't want to go through all that just to post some family photos)
I'd like to be able to hook up my Tivo and do some things...
I'd also like to take some old VHS-C videos (and other old camcorder reels) and digitize them for archival reasons.
I do have a few things I'd lke to run in Parallels (Quicken for Mac is no where as functional as the Windows version).
I am finished up a second degree so MS Office for Mac and iWork are installed.
I use GMail with my own domain as my primary email, even though I maintain a .Mac account just in case and for other reasons (iLife integration).
Gah, that was rather long (sorry about that), but when I'm looking at dropping close to $4k for my next computer, I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases.

After the Mac Pro debut, that's where I was leaning; I was looking at the MacBook Pro line, but I was having a hard time swallowing the price tag for a less than mobile lifestyle; which then sent me in the iMac direction; but, long term I would like to have a bit more expandability which the iMac doesn't allow (other than USB/FW driven devices).
A question I do have about the Mac Pro line, is say I spring for the low end CPU, then decide later I want a better one, am I stuck or can that be upgraded? In the PC world (yes, I do work with them for my day job) I could just swap out the MB or upgrade (socket allowing) to the newer chip.
What I like about the Mac Pro option is I can always upgrade the video and other things if needed which should more than suffice for my less than professional needs, but greater than the average "Joe" home user requirements.

I have a network infrastructure consisting of 3 sites, site A, site B, and site C. i have 2 domain controllers on every site, and the AD roles are on the primary domain controller on site A. On site A I have an Exchange 2013sp1 CU6.
I want to create a second Exchange on Site B, with the roles of mailbox (the exchange on Site A will be first DAG member and the Exchange on Site B will be the second member of the DAG) and CAS.
First question: Is my thought correct about installaing on the same server mailbox and CAS server?
Second question: how many DAG witnesses I need for the DAG? One per site, or one in general (for example located on site A)
Third question: When I am trying to perform “Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms” I receive the error

It sounds as if AT&T has already told you they can't do what you want. It doensn't sould like anything that's fixable on your end.

How do I add a web site to the Safari Bookmarks Bar?

Safari installed in Snow Leopard shows the following sites in the toolbar, or whatever it is, near the top of the window: Apple - Yahoo - Google Maps - You Tube - Wikipedia - News (117) - Popular. I would like to add some sites to that facility. Kindly tell me exactly how to do this.

Load a site and then drag the image to the left of the address to the toolbar, or choose Add Bookmark from the Bookmarks menu.

Access to a site from the Internet not working, but is for other sites on the same SP

My environment:
SP 2013 Enterprise w/ SP1 installed
2 servers in the farm, 1 for SQL, 1 for SP
Both servers are VMs running on Hyper-V, SQL is a bit underpowered when it comes to memory, SP is fine
5 web applications running, including a MySites web app and Central Admin (I've seen where separate web apps isn't the recommended configuration any more, but, this is how it was done when setup)
All sites run using SSL (443), same NIC, using host headers, pretty standard stuff (I think)
Claims authentication on all but Central Admin
Central Admin is firewalled off to all but a select few
1 to 1 correspondence between web apps and content databases
Other than MySites, all sites have either 1 or 2 site collections (search is in a separate site collection on 2 of the sites); MySites has many more site collections
So, site A, site B, site C, and site M are all supposed to be available from the Internet (with SSL and authentication) and also from the internal network. For site A, C, and M, this is true, no problem. Site B however doesn't work when coming in from the
Internet, just internally. I've received multiple reports of this from some of my users around the country, and I've been able to replicate it on my computers.
IIS just gives a blank page, no messages, no login. Chrome does present a login box, and will log into the site and work. This is from a laptop that is a part of our domain with cached credentials, but not directly connected to our network or using
our VPN. A non-domain laptop without cached credentials prompts me to login, as it should, and seems to work. The domain laptop will use the cached credentials to auto-authenticate to A, C, and M, but not B.
I'm using IE 11. I've tried putting the site into Compatibility mode, no joy. I've added the site to the Trusted Sites list, no joy. I don't have IE 10 available for testing (or 9 or 8 or ... just 11 :-( ) I've flushed the browser cache, emptied the
cookies, etc.
So, 3 of 4 sites work fine on the same machine, same Internet connection, same browser, same SP. I'm thinking it's something with IE, but, what? Seems like IE should be sending the same creds to all the sites, as they're all in the same Internet domain.
Does IE or Windows cache different creds somewhere? Or is there something in SP? I could see where one person's settings could get hosed somehow, but numerous people around the country with different h/w, different Internet connections, different credentials?
ARGH! HELP!!! Point me at something to look at, because I'm drawing a blank (and getting permanent dents in my forehead from banging it on my keyboard)...

It seems that the difference between the sites that will open and the one that won't is the Default Authentication provider is set to NTLM on those that open, and Negotiate (Kerberos) on the one that won't. The Authentication Provider for the Default zone
is Claims Based Authentication on all the sites, just site B (which won't open) is set to Negotiate (Kerberos), the others are set to NTLM.
Short term: can I change the provider to NTLM without destroying the site?
Long term: point me in the direction for setting up Kerberos correctly on my server/farm, as from what I can tell Kerberos is the recommended path forward. I'll setup a non-production test site and get it figured out.

Do you organise your email into separate folders, or do you just let it accumulate in the Inbox?
I would strongly advise you not to let it sit in the Inbox.
When you see this happening, try right-click on the affected folder, select '''Properties''' then '''Repair Folder'''.
Large folders (actually, a folder in Thunderbird is stored as a file, so it is sensitive to file size limits set by the underlying file system) can be problematic. This is one reason not to let messages collect in one folder. I use Thunderbird's Archive folders so that accumulated mails over several years can happily coexist because they are effectively stored in many small folders. No single mail store folder then exceeds the 2GB or 4GB sizes that have been known to stress the OS. I appreciate that current builds of Thunderbird and a modern 64-bit OS should be able to cope, but practically I find it slows down when given huge files, so I err towards a pragmatic solution; a large number of not very big files.
Archives are searchable, and a Saved Search folder can give you a virtual composite folder allowing access to the entire Archive.

Flash is not, and probably never will be, supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).

How to Connect My Intranet Site to the Office's Server

My boss recently wanted me to create an "intranet" site for the office. it bascially is supposed to be a one webpage with llinks to different folders on the server for greater ease for the sales reps. What are the steps to link the buttons on my page to these folders on the server?
i can link buttons to folders on my desktop, but not the folders on my desktop that are connected to the server.

I used the path you suggested and was directed to a screen saying I was not authorized to view the page. So I'm assuming it's a matter of my web admin granting the intranet i created access to these links?

This message comes only on IE8 as I had installed Mozilla but that issue is not coming on Mozilla. I don't why this issue is coming and how to solve this issue. I had gone with every possible results which I found in google but noting seems to be helpful. Please

This error usually occurs if IE is configured with the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" advanced options setting or the server is using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and has added one or both of the following HTTP headers to the response message:
e.g: Response.AddHeader "Cache-control: no-cache" or “Cache-control: no-store”.
To solve this issue, please try to cancel the “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” option in the advanced internet options or setting the “BypassSSLNoCache” registry. For more details, please refer to

Mountain Lion app not downloading, just sits in the dock 'waiting'.

Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago I downloaded the mountain lion software from the app store. However, the download just sits in the dock 'waiting' and doesn't download at all. It eventually disapears from my dock and tells me that there has been an error. I have emailed and rang customer support, however, I get passed on to different departments with each staff member saying 'this isn't what our department should be dealing with'. I have been told that it is to do with my internet provider (BT), but when I took the iMac (2010) back to university where I have a different internet provider, it still didn't download! (My iMac has got all the requirements for Mountain Lion).
Any help will be much appreciated as I am really getting no where with customer support.

Can you be more specific about your Requirement. In General, Please navigate to iRecruitment Recruiter Responisbility.
Then Select, Setup > Recruiting Sites. Here, you can configure your Third Party Websites information and attach stylesheets. The default mode oracle sends the vacancy information is HR-XML Format.
If you would like to select more sites information select "Add Another Row".
Then, you can see this information while "New Vacancy Creation Process".

Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. If the thief enabled activation lock on the device, then there is nothing that can be done. Only the password for the Apple ID that it is locked with can disable activation lock.
