Situation which SAP can handle

Dear friends I would like to know are there any situations that SAP can not handle/address the issues of customer/client. Is anyone come across such situations.
Radha

Hi,
This is like saying "how long is a piece of string" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course there are scenarios that don't exactly map onto SAP standard functions but this can often be because the scenario is either invalid or no longer needed in an SAP implementation.
Even if the most complex functionality is required and it is not standard on SAP there will almost certainly be a feasible work around that can be used.
But the "fit" depends more on the inductry involved and that is why SAP have the IS (Industry solutions) that provide the special functions in the standard system.
So yes there are things that SAP doesn't do as standard but I have yet to see a company that have any MAJOR gaps that can't be resolved reasonably.

  • Could SAP B1 handle " Periodic inventory System " ?

if SAP can handle Periodic inventory system, how to do this ?

    Hi Jamesss,
Periodic inventory is a system of inventory in which updates are made on a periodic basis. This differs from perpetual inventory systems, where updates are made as seen fit. In Periodic Inventory System no effort is made to keep up-to-date records of either the inventory or the cost of goods sold. Instead, these amounts are determined only periodically-usually at the end of each year.
As the inventory records are not updated as transactions occur, there is no need of Inventory Subsidiary Ledger. The foundation of the periodic inventory system is the taking of a complete physical inventory at year-end. This physical count determines the amount of inventory appearing in the balance sheet. The cost of goods sold for the entire year then is determined by a Short Computation.

  • OSB 11g - Maximum file size OSB can handle

    Hi,
What is the maximum size (of a file) which OSB can handle, when then file is polled using FTP, and then use XQuery transformation on it?
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

Processing large files in OSB will be limited by the constraints on both Heap Memory and CPU utilization.
To load larger objects in memory you will need enough Heap Size. If your heap size is not enough you will start getting Out of memory errors and weblogic server might crash. You can either add more memory to the server(which itself has a limit) or you can use content streaming. When you use content streaming the whole object will not be loaded into memory buffer and you will be able to consume large messages. But content streaming has certain limitations because the whole object is not loaded in memory. You can find these limitations at following link and decide if you can implement your use case with these limitations.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/userguide/context.html#wp1110513
If not then the best possible option would be to break the file into smaller chunks and then using OSB to read and process those chunks.
Another limitation is the CPU utilization. If you are not transforming the large content CPU should not be an issue. But if you need to transform before passing the payload to backend system then it becomes complicated. Transformations (both XQuery and XSLT ) take a lot of CPU cycles and if you are transforming huge payloads it will consume 100% CPU resulting in overall deterioration of the performance. Like Anuj mentioned, it is not recommended to have complex transformations and transformations of large XMLs within OSB. Its best to move out such transformations to other systems. But, it is also not recommended that you move many transformations to various backend systems. If your architecture involved many flows which have transformations on large objects, you should think about spending on an XML Appliance meant for transformations. These products are purpose built to focus on doing complex XMLXML processing with little impact on the overall CPU utilization. They use hardware acceleration to achieve this. You can contact Oracle Sales team or Oracle support to get more information about this.

  • My ibook can handle which videoformat?

First of all, please excuse me for any mistakes in my written English, as it is not my main language.
    So here I go:
Now that I've upgraded my ibook tangerine with a 120GB harddrive, I want to store some movies on it in a format that my ibook can handle.
I will use my macbook to rip a few dvd's and convert it to the proper videoformat, but the question is, which videoformat? I suppose that my ibook can't handle divx, xvid and plain dvd's.
My aim is to be able to watch some tv series on my ibook (ripped from my dvd-collection), that's all, it doesn't have to be high quality, just watchable and without, if possible, frame drops.
Can anyone point me to the right direction?
    Thanks in advance!
    iBook Tangerine 300Mhz, 120GB HD, 128Mb Ram   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Macbook (Black), 2.0GHz, 2GB Ram, 80GB HD

I've installed the freeware video player VLC on my daughter's 300mhz tangerine iBook, there is an option to drop frames.
She plays movies right from the harddisk (CD is too slow)
Her first option is to use the old MPEG1 Format (VCD 320x240pixels. The compression and Quality is low, so there are only a few dropped frames and you can watch your movie flawlessly.
On the other hand we tried to play movies in MPEG4 Format (464x368 pixels). For the first 10 seconds you will see nothing but a scrambled screen, but all of the sudden the movie shows up and you will be able to watch the scene (with several dropped frames, but not too bad)
If you use the pause function, you have to wait for 10 more seconds before the film continues, don't use the fast forward key....
Hope this helps. If you'll find a perfect solution in between, I'll be glad to hear from you.

  • External Table which can handle appending multiple csv files dynamic

I need an external table which can handle appending multiple csv files' values.
But the problem I am having is : the number of csv files are not fixed.
I can have between 2 to 6-7 files with the suffix as current_date. Lets say it will be like my_file1_aug_08_1.csv, my_file1_aug_08_2.csv, my_file1_aug_08_3.csv etc. and so on.
I can do it by following as hardcoding if I know the number of files, but unfortunately the number is not fixed and need to something dynamically to inject with a wildcard search of file pattern.
    CREATE TABLE my_et_tbl
      my_field1 varchar2(4000),
      my_field2 varchar2(4000)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
      (  TYPE ORACLE_LOADER

    Joshua..

Well, you could do it dynamically by constructing location value:

      3       employee_number      CHAR(5),
      4       employee_dob         CHAR(20),

  • Information on how much SAP Business One can handle in throughput

    Hi All
Is there any information on how much data SAP Business One can handle. I know in theory it only HDD space really set the limit but also thinking performance what setups do you have out there in terms of user, transactions per day, number of items, BP etc.
    Example:
We have a potential customer who currently have 50.000 monthly subscriptions (0 lines invoice lines pr subscription) with an expected increase of 20.000 a year
So in 3 year they will have 110.000 * 12 * 10 = 6 million invoice lines pr. year the first year (+2.4 million new lines increase to that number)
Can SAP business One handle this amount of data in a way that have any performance at all (Server is not yet known) or in other words. When does SAP Business One become too small and we need to move to a bigger system?
Is there any task-forces in SAP we can contact for such?

  • XI can handle a File which has hierarchical structures.

Can any one please let me know whether XI handles the following kind of file. Here i am showing the records how these comes in the file.
All records are of type fixed length.
    FNR............................................
    THR.................................
    FTR..............
    AER..............
    SDR............................
    ODR.................
    PDR.................
    TDR.................
    SDR............................
    ODR.................
    PDR.................
    TTR...................................
    FCR..............................................
FNR....FCR occurs only once in the file
The occurence of THR....TTR pair is 0 to unbounded
The occurence of SDR,ODR,PDR,TDR is also 0 to unbounded.
Please explain if XI can handle this kind of file, if the answer is Yes, let me know how we need to define the data type to handle this kind of file and also the sender adapter.

  • How to implement a side navigation bar which can handle commandLink

    Hi,
I was wondering if you could give me some pointers. I am designing a web site and on the left there will will be a dynamic menu bar. For eg if you do mouseOver on any one of the menu's items, a sub menu pops is displayed and so on.
But I was these menu's to be such that they can handle <jsp:commandLink > tag.. any ideas?
    Thanks.

    arijit_datta wrote:
<jsp:commandLink > Huh? Aren't you talking about the JSF h:commandLink?
Anyway, that kind of navigation menu can easily be achieved with CSS and in some cases also a little bit Javascript. Install Google on your machine and feed it with the keywords "suckerfish menu" and you'll find a lot of examples.

  • Which Messages can be and cannot be archived in sap xi

    Hello experts,
I have gone through the sdn  and  known about the basic knowledge about the message archiving in xi. But which messages can be and which messages cannot be archived.
    Thanks in advance.

But which messages can be and which messages cannot be archived.
Message archiving does not depend on the source and/ or target system.
If Archiving is configured then all the successfully processed, manually cancelled messages will be archived.
So you just need to maintain for which interfaces you need to implement archiving and it will be done provided the above condition in bold is satisfied.

  • Suppose one lack records having in BDC uplaod, which one can i propose uploa

Suppose one lack records having in BDC uplaod, which one can i propose uploading these records?call transaction or session method which one is better? How?

    Hi Hassan,
The Session method is better and used for processing large amount of data and it will give error log itself if any comes. and the other thing is you can run session method in background but call transaction is not possible to run in background.
Session method can handle multiple transactions at a time, while in call transaction , only one at a time.
But call transaction is much faster than Session.
Database update is synchronous in Session, while it is either synchronous or asynchronous in Call Transaction.
    here is the exact differences..
    Call transaction:
Session is used to handle larger amount of data and error handling in implicit, while in call transaction, you have to explicitly handle error situation.
    1.Synchronous Processing
2.You can update the database both synchronously and asynchrounously.
3.Transfer of data for individual transaction
4.No batch input session is created.
5.Faster than other batch input techniques.
6.No automatic error log and restart capability is available here.
7.Not recommended for bulk data transfer
    Session.
    1.Asynchronous Processing
    2.Synchronous database updates
3.Transfer of data for multiple transaction
4.Batch input sesssion is created here.
5.Automatic error handling and efficient restart capability incase of error transaction.
6.SAP's standard approach for data transfer
7.Highly recommended for Bulk data transfer.
8.Execution is slower than CALL TRANSACTION.
