  • 20" iMac Shipping Size and Weight

I want to purchase a new 20" iMac and take it with me by air for an extended trip. What is the size and weight of the 20" iMac in its shipping carton?

    Kenneth
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you live in the US and are flying to Europe beware!!!
Check whether the iMac you are buying has a voltage converter. If you use a US-voltage Mac (110 volts) in Europe (220-240 volts) it will fry like an egg. And the repairs won't be covered by your guarantee, which on desktop models is only valid in the country of purchase.
From my memories of the arrival of my iMac G5 more than a year ago, the shipping carton was not suitable for extended travel. It had a plastic handle which wouldn't stand repeated use, and the cardboard box was already showing signs of damage after a protracted trip from Shanghai to the UK.
    Hope this helps,

  • Is it possible to change the font size and weight in an ADF table?

Is it possible to change the font size and weight in an ADF table? I have tried to change the various font size and weight settings for a table and its columns and they seem to have no effect on the font size or weight in a table row.

You would use skinning to modify font-size & weight for the table.
In addition to the link suggested by Vinod,
    Take a look at http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/01/adf-skinning-in-jdeveloper-11g.html

  • 17" packaging dimensions and weight

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is anywhere on the Apple site, or if someone who has purchased the 17" iMac, could tell me the dimensions and weight of the iMac while boxed (unfortunately I do not have an Apple store or reseller in the area to check this info for myself.)
The reason I am asking is that I would like to purchase one to take back to my parents (in the UK) for a Christmas present.
Obviously I could purchase in the UK but it is cheaper here, and as I am flying back for Christmas anyway, I can bypass any shipping costs assuming I can fit it in my luggage and not go over my weight limits with the airline.
    Thanks in advance,
    C.

Are you sure that you want to try that with all the new airline security restrictions regarding baggage.
Can you talk to Apple about making your purchase from the USA Online Store with delivery in the UK. It is a gift after all and they should be willing to ship anywhere in the world you want and that sure would make it easier for you! My 17" Core Duo was in a pretty large box with lots of styrofoam. The size of a midsize suitcase.

I wouldn't use an SD card any larger than 64 GB. I am not even sure if these are made.

  • Maximum Package Size and Duration for HD Streaming?

    Hey All,
I've taken the HD plunge and am editing my first piece of video. I've finished and I want to export it to stream to my PS3 and/or Xbox. My question is what are the best settings for export to Quicktime MP4 1080 HD for maximum packet size and max packet duration?
Also do I need to optimize for server if I will be streaming from my Time Capsule?
I can successfully stream SD but I don't quite understand all this HD stuff so any and all help is appreciated.

I totally appreciate the thread but my goal is not to copy the file but to get it to stream properly. Right now it stutters a bit during streaming. I am trying to find out if Max package and duration could help.
I'm at 15KPBs on the download and 973 on the upload so it shouldn't be a network problem. I was just hoping someone could explain the max settings and recommend something for streaming

  • Image size and dimensions in Safari

Is there a fast method of viewing image size and dimentions in Safari? I can open image in new tab and see its width and height in tab/window name. I can save image to the Desktop and see file size but it's not convenient. Is there some another way without opening an saving image somewhere like Control+click -> Properties?
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Pat,
You don't need to set the image size as such. The image prints on the page according to two sets of criteria:
    1. Whether you set dpi to custom or a specific value, and
    2. The page margins you set either as a printing once-off, or as a new printing pre-set.
For example, I print "arty" photos in a portrait format on A4 matte paper. Left and right margins are around 3cm, top margin is around 3cm, bottom margin is around 5 cm (all numbers are from memory...). I have a title just below the image.
I created this particular page setup for a certain photo and liked it so much I saved it as another print preset. Any photo I print using that preset fits within the margins defined. The very next print might be the same photo, but this time printing A3+ on Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl. Choose the photo, select the relevant print pre-set, print. Re-sizing is irrelevant - the print in both cases is coming from the processed raw at maximum resolution.

  • Share files between Mac and Windows in same iMac with boot camp

    Hello,
I am new in using Mac and recently I buy a IMac 24" model.
I used to use PC a long time with a lot of old document.
I want to install Windows XP with boot camp.
But I also want to share my documents, music, video files between Mac and Windows in same iMac.
    How can I do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

Hi Eric and welcome to Discussions and the Apple world.
Mac OSX can read and write from Windows partitions (like the BootCamp Windows partition you are about to create) when using FAT32 as file system for Windows.
However with FAT32 you are limited to a partition size of 32GB.
Mac OSX can also read from Windows partitions that uses the NTFS file system, but it can not write to them unless you use a third-party helper like either Paragons NTFS for Mac http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ or NTFS-3G http://www.ntfs-3g.org/
Windows can not even see or use a Mac OSX partition without additional help by MacDrive http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/
    Regards

  • Changing partition size and migrating to Leopard

My iMac currently runs OS 10.9 and has boot camp installed, but I chose a Windows partition size that was too small (only a few GB, enough to install Windows XP). I am now want to increase the size of the Windows partition and to install Leopard. What is the best order for me to change the partition size and install the new system? If the disk needs to be wiped clean to do this, what is the best way to back up the existing data and then to reinstall it. Would I use migration assistant?

If your beta Boot Camp Assistant hasn't expired, you COULD do this before you upgrade to Leopard. If it has, you can play games with the date, or you can do this after you're on Leopard.
Either way, if your partition is FAT32 you can back it up using Disk Utility, according to other posts (see especially backup/clone discussions in the beta discussion forum); if it's NTFS, Winclone is probably the way to go. If it's a real small partition, though, you might just start over, or back up only what's "yours".
On either the beta or Leopard, you'd want to back up or clone the current Boot Camp partition, remove it using BCA, create the new larger partition using BCA, and then restore the contents.
None of this requires wiping the MAC OS disk, it DOES essentially wipe out the WINDOWS disk. I don't think Migration Assistant helps here, but certainly haven't tried that.

I am having simliar issue where I can get the iphone 6 launch image to work but not the iphone 6+ when using [email protected], 2208x1242.  Also the stage.fullScreenWidth/Height give 1472x828, which is 2/3 the expected dimensions or 736x414 at scale factor 2, not 3.  I hope adobe fixes this soon or we won't be able to launch new games with Apple as it is a requirement to have your apps Iphone 6/6+ optimized.  If this isn't fixed soon were pretty much forced to abandon adobe and move onto another software solution that will allow us to build for Apple.

I just upgraded to Mavericks and now my Intel iMac is running more slowly. There have been no other changes. What's up with this???

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running a program at the instance of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait about a minute. Then paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking  anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in your browser, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for your password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator rights.
The test may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. There wiil be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress until it's done. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." That's because the forum software falsely identifies something in the post as a violation of the terms of use. If that happens, please post the results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

  • How u will set the external parameters like packet size and number

How u will set the external parameters like packet size and number of parallel process.

    Dear Karthik,
    <b>ALE:</b>
Use Transaction UPSC02         -      ALE Distribution Unit: Packet Types.
    Performance Optimization for <b>ODS</b> Objects:
To ensure a good ODS object loading performance, take the following into account:
           1.      Creating SIDs
The creation of SIDs takes a long time and can be avoided in the following cases by:
Not setting the indicator for BEx Reporting if you are using the ODS object only as a data store. If you do set this indicator, SIDs are created for all new characteristic values.
If you use line items (for example, document number or time stamp) as characteristics in the ODS object, in the characteristic maintenance, indicate these as Attribute Only.
SIDs are created in parallel if <b>parallel activation</b> is switched on (see last point). They are then created with the same number of parallel processes as created for the activation.
However, if you specify a server group or a special server in customizing, these specifications are not only valid for the activation, but also for the SID creation. The creation of SIDs runs on the application server on which the batch job also runs.
           2.      DB partitioning in active data tables (technical A table)
By partitioning by database level, you can delete data from the ODS object much more quickly. As a partitioning criterion, choose the characteristic by which you want to delete.  For more information on partitioning database tables, see the database documentation (DBMS-CD). Partitioning is supported by the following databases: Oracle, DB2/390, Informix.
           3.      Indexing
Use selection criteria for queries for ODS objects. If the key fields are specified, the existing primary index is used. The more frequently accessed characteristic should appear on the left-hand side.
If you did not specify the key fields completely in the selection criteria (visible in the SQL trace), you improve the run time of the query by creating additional indexes. You can create these secondary indexes in the ODS object maintenance.
           4.      Activation of data in an ODS object
To improve system performance when activating data in the ODS object, you can make the following entries in Customizing under SAP Customizing Implementation Guide -> SAP NetWeaver -> Business Information Warehouse -> General BW Settings ->  ODS Object Settings:
the maximum number of parallel processes when activating data in the ODS object as when moving SIDs
the minimum number of data records for each data package when activating data in the ODS object, meaning you define the size of the data packages that are activated
the maximum wait time in seconds when activating data in the ODS object. This is the time when the main process (batch process) waits for the dialog process that is split before it classifies it as having failed.
the server group that needs to be used when activating the data in ODS objects in parallel You have to create the server groups beforehand using the following path: Tools -> Administration -> Network -> RFC Destination, RFC -> RFC Groups. If you do not specify anything here, then the activation runs on the server on which the batch process was started for activation. If a server from the server group is not active, then the activation is cancelled.
           5.      Loading unique data records
If you only load unique data records (meaning data records with nonrecurring key combinations) into the ODS object, then the loading performance is improved when you set the indicator Unique Data Records in the ODS object maintenance.
The records are then updated more quickly because the system no longer needs to check whether the record already exists. You do have to be sure that there duplicate records are definitely not being loaded, because this will lead to termination.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • VESA desk arms recommendations / weight of 24" iMac ?

    Hi folks,
For convenience, I'm thinking about mounting a 24" Al iMac on a VESA arm, much like my secondary monitor currently is. Unfortunately, the iMac weighs significantly more than my monitor, which means that I can't use the same model.
A Google search unfortunately keeps sending me to either the official Apple or unofficial VESA mount adapters, which I already have. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good desk-mount arm that doesn't cost exorbitant amounts of money? The iLift looks nice, but at $400, is far beyond my willingness to pay. Something in the $100-200 range would be much better.
Alternatively, does someone know what the weight of the iMac, sans stand, is? If it's less than about 17lbs, then the in fact my current monitor arm would work.
    Thanks in advance.

Ergotron, as Phillipine Swing suggested, does indeed have an arm that will handle an iMac, in the price range you mention:
    http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/65/PRDID/56/language/en-US/default.aspx
I don't have direct experience with Ergotron's products, but the comments and reviews I've seen over the years have generally been quite favorable.
