Size/Angle Jittering and Scattering with a "brush tip" in full color?

Is there any way to emulate the options available for a custom brush tip created from an image, yet still keep all the color information? I know this can't be done with a regular brush tip, but is there another way to pull it off other than copy/paste/rotate/shrink the source image over and over again?
If it makes any difference, I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.

No. By definition brushes are just opacity masks of a kind. Color information is not retained. What you want to do is much better doen in an animation program by using frame accumulation effects or particles to create trails of images. Another option would be Illustrator's art brushes and symbols, but of course those have limited blending options.

Smudge tool with sampled Brush Tip behaves wrong on 100% strength in CS6

Hey everyone. I'm using CS6 beta on OSX 10.6.8 on Macbook Pro at home and Imac at work.
I used two smudge brushes: one is round and one is sampled from an image. All controls are turned off.
Here's an example on Smudge tool in CS5. Both round and sampled acts the same at 100% strength:

Next: Smudge Tool on 99% Strength (Sampled tip)

As you can see, on 99% Smudge acts the same in CS5 and CS6 and on 100% Smudge in CS6 acts wrong.

It looks like this is an issue when using 100% Strength and a Sampled tip that has been changed in size from what it was sampled at. If you click the Restore to original size button next to the size readout in the Brush Tip Shape pane of the Brush panel, it does not appear to encounter the problem, and as you noted values other than 100% do not show the problem. Thanks for reporting this.

For the hard drive, there is the Get Volume Info function. I know there's a trick to get the RAM, but it is eluding me right now.

Cant Unlock Brush Tip Shape

I am using CS5 (really new at it) and one of my brush tip shapes I need unlocked wont unlock, I click on the "locked lock" which is greyed out, and nothing happens, how can I unlock this? I am wanting to unlock the smoothing tip.

Make sure that you have the Spacing checkbox selected in the Brush Tip Shape section.

Not quite sure what you mean by "print both letter and legal docs at same time".
If you mean that sometimes you want to print a document on Letter size paper, and at other times you want to print a different document on Legal sized paper, then all that is neccessary is to ensure that:
The printer knows what Paper Size (e.g. Letter or Legal) is present in each tray; on many LaserJet devices, the size is detected automaticaly by sensors in each tray (except for the drop-down tray), but some devices may require that you set the size via front panel menus, or (for network models) via the Embedded Web Server equivalent.
You may also need to specify what Paper Type (e.g. Plain or Letterhead) is present in each tray, in order to distinguish between two or more trays which have the same paper size loaded.
Within your appllcation / print preferences, ensure that you select the required combination of size and type for the document.
But if you mean how do you print a document with some pages on one size of paper, and other pages on a different size, this may only be possible with bespoke applications and/or printer drivers.

Whenever I try to use a tool, a blue box appears around the line and I have to double click it to manipulate it, which opens just that line in a semi burred screen where all the other objects are semi-grey in the background. I can manipulate this line in this screen but nothing else at that time which I could do about 5 minutes ago. For exampe, I no longer can join up 2 lines drawn by the line tool together. For some reason this started randomly (probably due to a accidental shortcut combination) and I just can't put it back to what it used to be. I have inserted a video hopefully showing what I mean. Any help would be appreciated.

Iterate through a set of scatter graph objects (paths) and replace with Brush or Symbol instances.

I am trying to write write a script for Adobe Illustrator (AS or JS) which takes a set of objects and one by one replaces them with a brush style applied to a single point (one anchor path) or a symbol instance. Needs to be accurate as it's a graph with 300 'points'.
Looking for help with the following tasks:
Selecting all the paths belonging to a particular layer named "Replace". (Even if User input to a dialogue is required I only know how to use layer item numbers)
How to get the central co-ordinates of a small path that makes a shape like a triangle, square, circle or diamond. Some of the sets are compound paths but they are all symmetrical but for the triangle and I want the centre (X,Y) to assign as properties for the Brush anchor point or Symbol anchor point.
How to change layers from one layer (containing the set of paths) to a new drawing layer (where script will create the symbols/brush instances)
What I'm also wondering:
Would it be best to iterate the sample set and get cords and draw create the new symbol instance (possibly in a new layer and possibly delete the originating path) one by one as it were? Or be best to run through all the points and create a data record of all the co-ordinates then iterate a second time and create all the objects using the co-ordinates for symbol (X,Y) anchor properties
All I have to work from is the sample Adobe Script that creates a tree symbol the duplicates it around the edges of the page. Not quite there yet :-)
One of the reasons I'm doing this is that I can then stretch the graph to expose the data and not have to transform each to get the shapes back into shape but mainly because some of the paths are very jaggy and ugly out of the stats program (Excel?!).

does someone know if it is possible to change the resoultion and size of an uploaded image with pl/sql?
we want to upload an image over a webform and want to save it in the database, but before saving it, we want to change the resolution to 72 dpi. Our webapplication is a PL/SQL application and we are using oracle application server 10G, release2.

Yes, that looks like a bug in STLport. I have filed bug 18810043 for you. If you have an Oracle Solaris Studio service contract with Oracle, you can request a fix.
The workaround is simple: move the sync_with_stdio call to the top of main.
In fact, the effect of calling sync_with-stdio after any I/O operation can vary among implementations, so doing the call first is better programming practice anyway.

Problem with editing the size of artboard and objects in illustrator!

I was using a custom size of artboard in illustrator, but I now I want to change it to A4 size for printing. However, when I change it to a A4 size artboard, the size of objects on that artboard remain unchange. As a result these objects do not fit the new size of artboard. Are there any way that I can change both the size of artboard and objects at once? Thank you!

Probably not. Don't suppose you have a proportion scale handy? Alright, don't worry about it. Give me the size of your original ( in inches ) and the size of A4 ( in inches ), I can give you the scale percentage ( you input into the scale dialog box ). Whatever you do, keep your original file and do the enlargement on a "copy" of the original. You already have the new artboard, not it is just a simple matter of enlarging the artwork to fit the new size.

Is there a way to use a hotkey to rotate brush tip angle?

I would like to program my Intuos Touch to be able to rotate the brush tip angle with the touch wheel. But I am unaware if that is an available feature at this time.

There was a discussion in the Scripting Forum about changing some Brush parameters via Script a while back.
If I remember correctly the angle could be changed only for round brush tips, not for custom/sampled brush tips and as this preceded erodible and bristle tips those would likely also disqualify.
Edit: This means I don’t know a default method to rotate a Brush via Keyboard Shortcut.
