SIZE FOR A DOC.

I WANT TO CREATE A 8LENGTH X 5WIDTH BANNER WHAT WOULD BE THE PIXEL SIZE FOR THE DOCUMENT?

Well that's not true really.
The default setting is set to Picas and the user can change this to whatever system they are comfortable with.
I use Millimeters, not inches.
And you can create a new Document and choose "Web" and you are given Pixels by defualt.
And a monitor isn't necesarrily 72dppi - it's really 96ppi - and that's what Acrobat is set to by defualt. Web images are  72 ppi for purposing for the internet - but 72ppi images look fuzzy in Powerpoint as the monitor is really 96ppi (circa).
And the best place to make the Banner would actually be Fireworks.

  • How to setup a default size for new divs in fluid grid layout in dreamweaver?

    Hi,
how to setup a default size for a new divs in fluid grid layout in dreamweaver? I don't need the default size for new divs as a 100% width, I need them 13.69% as a one coulmn width only (7 coulmns fluid grids layout for desktop size 1000w).
This problem I've faced when I intended to insert dozens of fluid grid divs in the layout.

Sorry, I don't believe that you have had a good look at the Foundation framework. I'll now hold your hand while we go through the basics.
Here is the specific page http://foundation.zurb.com/docs/components/grid.html
    The default values are
    Em-base : 16px
    Row width: 62.5em (62.5em x 16px = 1000px)
    Columns per row: 12
These and other default values can be changed. The fact of the matter is that if you stipulate a section width of 2 or 3 or 12 columns, the widths will automatically be calculated for you.
In your case, if you want 7 columns, all you need to do is change the number of columns per row and the rest is done for you.

  • Can I change background size for websites?

    Hallo,
I am building a website in flash and was wondering if it is possible to change the background size for each page of a website that I build in Flash?
I know how to change the template background etc. but I changed the background size to a bigger size on page 3 and now the whole site is like that.
    just wondering
    thank you
    Riaan

Yes you can, but it depends on how your site is set-up. Do
you have separate SWFs for each page or is you entire s
ite built into 1 SWF? In order to have your
pages be different you will want to
break the SWF into to separte parts which ulimatly is better anyways, it allo
ws you to increase you SEO which can be difficult with Flash site anyways and it helps with loading.
Anyways have your pages be the size you want them and when linking page to page use your getURL commands.
And then when you put them into a HTML doc, focus on your container style and make that differ from page to page.
    Hope that helps.

  • Set custom page size for printing

I want to set a custom page size for printing some PDF three and four-page musical scores to roll paper on an Epson 1290 using Adobe Reader 9.3.4 on Ubuntu 10.04. The printer properties in the print dialog has a media size option, and one of the choices is "custom", but having chosen "custom", the dialog does not allow me to add the actual page size to the lpr printer command. I can see that when I choose "custom", the lpr command is
    lpr -P Stylus-Photo-1290 -o PageSize=Custom etc
but what I need for a three page output, for example, is
    lpr -P Stylus-Photo-1290 -o PageSize=Custom.297x630mm etc
and I can't see how to add the actual custom paper size. If I Ok the media size choice dialog with it just set to PageSize=Custom, I can see from the output preview in the print dialog that the actual page size that has been chosen is letter. The online Adobe doc for Reader 9 printing (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Reader/9.0/content.html#heading2.3) says "For documents that are larger than the standard page size, go to File  > Page Setup.  Create a custom page size before you print your  document". The problem with that is that there is no "Page Setup" option on the File menu in the Unix version of Adobe Reader, only a "Print" option, which is where I already am.
If I open the PDFs in Evince, it allows me to add the custom page sizes I want, but as Evince doesn't have the option to print multiple pages per sheet I can't use it either...

Yes, it used to work, and the resize zoom bar used to work too (now its grayed out). I don't know if this is a "who's to blame for it" thing, but its not getting fixed and its pretty bad that no one seems to care enough even to respond. I found my own solution by opening it in Gimp. Just right click and select open with other ...Gimp and it will import into it. In the Gimp Print dialog, you have a scaling percentage in the "Page Setup" tab, and size settings in the "Image settings" plus loads of other stuff including multiple copies.

  • Maximum hard drive size for 350 MHz slot loading?

    Hello,
What is the maximum hard drive size for a 350 MHz slot loading imac?
I am aware of a 128 GB limit on imacs. Does the 128 GB hard drive limit apply to all imac CRTs or just the earlier models?
Here are the specs of my imac:
    Blueberry 350 MHz
    Slot loading CD-ROM drive,
    6 GB hard drive
Is the maximum hard drive size limit of 127GB apply to this particular model?
    Thanks

Yes, the last CRT iMac was in 2001. The first machines with built-in greater than 127 GB support were released in June 2002, as this article explains:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86178
So all CRT iMacs have that limiation.

The 8 GB limit is explained here:

  • Maximum size for autoflow?

    Hi,
Is there a maximum size for autoflowing documents? Or possibly a maximum complexity?
We have a large Word docx document, with many (400+) footnotes and a few cross-references. On trying to import it to ID CS5, it manages to import the text (the first page arrives, and we get a missing fonts message); but as soon as we try to autoflow throughout the rest of the document, the program freezes.
I've been slowly paring the document down to smaller and smaller sizes, but anything over about 60pp in Word seems to freeze InDesign's autoflow.
I've tried saving the Word files out as RTF files: this seems to help, and we can place up to about 160pp, but that's still a very long way short of the complete document.
I've also tried saving the Word files out to Word 2003 format; that doesn't seem to do as well as the RTF files.
If I break down the Word files into chunks small enough for ID to handle, then the autoflow works fine: but then we have to go through and replace all the cross-references that have been put in by the original author, as they end up referring to different Word files (which isn't possible, as far as we can tell).
So, is there an upper limit on the file size that we can place, or just a limit on the number of footnotes or cross-references that we can import? Or could it be (in a unsurprising way) that I'm missing something really obvious?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

A maximum on the number of footnotes? Hmmm ... Okay, let's try. (Several minutes of frantic copying later:)
(That's in CS4, not '5, but since there are no improvements in the footnotes I'm fairly certain it didn't get worse either.)
Both CS4 and CS5 behave horribly when importing Word files (as this one-and-a-half year old blog post proves: http://www.betalogue.com/2009/02/12/indesign-cs4-bugs/), and so I have a developed a habit of nail-biting-then-followed by importing troublesome Word files with CS3. Try that, if you have one lying around. It's easy: import into CS3, save, open that with CS4 (or CS5), done.
If you don't have the older version, try to make it InDesign as easy as humanly possible. Open the document in Word, and:
    * Switch off Track Changes and Accept All that are still logged.
    * Search for images, first using the shortcut code "^g", and then by browsing (since Word -- heh heh heh -- cannot always find all of its own images!). Delete the images.
    * Remove all section breaks.
    * Save As an older Word version -- '97 might do the trick. Newer Word file formats suffer from feature bloat as much as any of Adobe's programs.
With InDesign, don't import it into a document that's bursting at the seams with paragraph/character styles and master pages. Make a temporary new, blank document, and import into that. When you got it, you can safely copy-and-paste into the real target document.
The number of pages ID can import at once has not been a problem for me, yet. I've successfully imported single Word docs that came in as a +1500 page document -- after applying formatting, 700 pages of real text remained. (At that point everything turned ..  a .. bit .. slowwww ... so I cut it up into separate files, after doing as much 'global' search-and-replaces as I could stand.)

  • Need to know maximum log size for advanced debugging option in Win 7

We need to enable advanced debug logging for net logon service on all of our Windows 7 pcs to troubleshoot a major issue at our company.  I need to prove to management that when done so, the logs will never have runaway uncontrollable growth that completely
fills up the users hard drive.  I have been told from Microsoft that they will never grow above 20mb and will continuously overwrite itself while running.
Is there a (preferably) a technet doc out there or some other Microsoft doc I can use to prove this is how it will work?  I searched on Techet and other spots online and all it talks about is doing this on our domain controllers (which we already have
running and are not logging for assistance with.

    Hello net1994,
We could set the maximum log file size in Local Group Policy Editor.
Please go to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Net Logon\Specify maximum log file size

  • Customizing Publish Options for Word Doc

Are there any additional publish customization options for Word doc? I checked the options available, and I didnt find any feature that allows you, for example, to manipulate slide images ( like, size and position), slide notes ( fonts and placement), etc. It takes so much time to reformat images and notes for each slide. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

The handout template is hard coded. But, working with the other templates and the Word Output document, I was able to create a template that will allow you to publish the Word images and slide notes in Word. And, you can customize the placement on the page and image sizes.
Here are instructions (I'm using Captivate 6 BTW):
    1. Make all of your slide notes into closed captioning.
I was able to find the computer code to call the closed captions, but not the slide notes. So you have to drop some audio onto each slide (I'm using 1 second of silence generated in Audacity) and click the button that will turn your slide notes into closed captions. Don't worry...these won't display in your published project unless you have your skin set to display them.
    2. Open a new Word document.
    3. Copy and paste the script below into your Word document. This script as is will print 2 slides per page with slide notes above the images.
    [CPDefaultItemTemplates[CPTemplates[TIMEBLOCK[CPContentInsert]TIMEBLOCK]CPTemplates]CPDefa ultItemTemplates]
    [CPCapturedSlide
    [CPBlockInsert][CPTemplates[CC1[CPCC]CC1]
    [CCN[CPCC]CCN]CPTemplates]
    [CPSlideImage][size:282x214]
    CPCapturedSlide]
    [CPContentSlide
    [CPBlockInsert][CPTemplates[CC1[CPCC]CC1]
    [CCN[CPCC]CCN]CPTemplates]
    [CPSlideImage][size:282x214]
    CPContentSlide]
    4. Adjust the script to your liking:
    1. Change the image size. This is set to 282 x 214. But you can change the image size to whatever you want it to be. If you make the size larger, fewer will fit on a page.
    2. Move the slide notes, if you want. This is set to put the slide notes above the images. To put the notes below the images, move the [CPBlockInsert][CPTemplates[CC1[CPCC]CC1]
[CCN[CPCC]CCN]CPTemplates] to below [CPSlideImage][size:282x214]. Be sure to move both instances, and don't copy/paste...move!
    3. Use Word's formatting options to change the page display. For example, if you use Word to center the code about slide images, the slides will be centered on the page when you publish. You can add your company's logo in the header. Type CPMovieTitle into one place to print the project title...either header or footer. It won't work if you put it in more than one place for reasons known only to Captivate. You can put page numbers or dates in the footer. You can change the font for the slide notes by highlighting the notes code (see #3 above) and making it larger, smaller, different, bold, italic, etc., etc., etc. Whatever you would do with Word to format your handouts, do in this document.
    4. Add anything that you want to print on every page outside the [ ] blocks. For instance, if you want to blank lines to print under the notes, you can add before the code for the images.
    5. Save the Word document in .doc format with a memorable name where you can find it. You don't have to save with the templates in the Captivate program file.
    6. Publish to Print. In the upper, right corner, in the Type section, click the button with ... It's to the right of Handout. That will open a window which will allow you to browse to find and select your Word document. The Layout Options won't do anything, so no need to mess with them. Set the rest of your settings...like project title and publish location and publish.
Things that I don't know, but would like to:
    1. Will this work in Captivate 7? Will someone try and let us know?
    2. Can you save the Word file in .docx format?
    3. Can you set the Word doc to landscape instead of portrait? (I'll bet that you can, but haven't tried it.)
    4. What Word options won't work? I know that you can't put this code inside a Word table. Using column and page breaks, I got mine to print with the slide notes on the left and images on the right. Other than that, who knows? Word is a big program, so you'll just have to test.
    5. What is the code to call the slide notes? I've called Adobe support twice and can't get a straight answer. If we all start calling and emailing, maybe they'll tell us.
So, I hope this helps. There are so many threads about this and I can't repost everywhere. So, please link to this thread if you see another one where this info will help.
    Happy printing!
    Rebecca

  • Set specific size for JTextfield/Jbutton in BorderLayout?

can some one tell me how to set a specific size for JTextfield/JButton in Border/BoxLayout please?
I stried setSize, setPrefersize, setMAxsize, setMinsize, setBounds... but it won't work?
For example. If I add a jbutton to a jpanel, which has borderlayout, it will take up ALL the space in that jpanel.
    Thanks

Typically you use a BorderLayout for the high level layout and then add panels using other layouts to the BorderLayout. So for example on a simple dialog that is using a form that asks your for your first name and last name you would build a panel with those fields and add that panel to the center of the BorderLayout. Then you would create another panel for the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons which would typically use a FlowLayout. Then you add that panel to the South of the BorderLayout.
The Swing tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/visual.html]How to Use LayoutManagers has all the information you need to know on using layout managers.

  • Optimal NTFS block size for Oracle 11G on Windows 2008 R2 (OLTP)

    Hi All,
We are currently setting up an Oracle 11G instance on a Windows 2008 R2 server and were looking to see if there was an optimal NTFS block size. I've read the following: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/win.112/e10845/specs.htm
But it only mentioned the block sizes that can be used (2k - 16k). And basically what i got out of it, was the different block szes affect the max # of database files possible for each database.
Is there an optimal NTFS block size for Oracle 11G OLTP system on Windows?
    Thanks in advance

Is there an optimal NTFS block size for Oracle 11G OLTP system on Windows?ideally FS block size should be equal to Oracle tablespace block size.
or at least be N times less than Oracle block size.
For example - if Oracle BS=8K then NTFS BS better to be 8K but also can be 4K or 2K.
Also both must be 1 to N times of Disk sector size. Older disks had sectors 512 bytes.
Contemporary HDDs have internal sector size 4K. Usually.

I need to save some pictures from iPhoto to a SDHC photo card for a digital frame and was wondering if there is a way to shrink or compress file size for each picture as I have already cropped the pictures? Thank you

Yes, you do this when you export the images from the Library.
    File -> Export
in the Size section, you don't need images larger than the frame size, so you can specify that and in the Jpeg Quality you can select the amount of compression used.
    This User Tip

has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

  • Why screen size for iPhone simulator is still 480x320 pixels?

    Hi,
I just upgraded my xcode to 4.2.1 so I have iOS SDK 5.0 now. However, when I create a project, the screen size in simulator for iPhone is 480x320 pixels. I was told the screen size for iPhone/iPad is now 960x640 pixels. Why in simulator it is still old size? What should I do to get the correct size or I am wrong and the actual device is still 480x320 pixels? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Taizhi

    hi,
you change between "iPhone" and "iPhone retina" to simulate both physical resolutions.
For the project it doesn't matter because the logical resolution is still 320 x 460 "Points". The OS does most of the work for you.
