  • Set paper size for image on roll paper

Q     I am trying to set the paper size for a H 30cm x W 80cm image using roll paper on an Epson R3000 printer. Computer Dell I7 64b and using Elements 9. Thank-you, John

Garry - Many thanks for the reply. I was following the usual routine but I had never needed to use the 'User defined' box previously but it appears this is vital to the whole process when using roll-paper. I also found that the paper height becomes the Length when using roll-paper. I nearly entered the paper height (as requested) as 10m (length of roll) but you need to enter the length of the actual print required or the print process will start in the middle of the 10m roll! always seems to be that little extra missing from the manuals!  John

  • Max Size for Image Upload

    Hi Frenz,
I am planning to use Oracle AppEx's file upload functionality to upload image to DB. I would like to know
Is there any size limitation for Image to be uploaded. Ex: can't exceed more that ! MB?
Does it support all types of Image format like JPG, BMP.
Will be Using a third party reporting tool to generate roprts.
So need to know how fast is the retrival process from backend.
(Am aware this is not a Oracle AppEx related question!! But incase if any use this in your projects !!)

The following parameters should be used
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.UPLOAD_MAX_MEMORY
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.UPLOAD_MAX_DISK_SPACE
    Instead of
    oracle.adf.view.faces.UPLOAD_MAX_MEMORY
    oracle.adf.view.faces.UPLOAD_MAX_DISK_SPACE

  • Right-click - "Reset Size" for images broken

If I create an image and insert it onto the page, then go back and re-size the image in Photoshop, come back to the page and right click on the image I can choose "reset size" which used to correct the height and width of the image to the new size.
Now, with CC 2014.1 when I try it, it deletes the width entirely from the code and doesn't change the height at all.
    This is broken!

File a bug report where it will be logged and seen by the engineers.

  • Best file sizes for images and how they get loaded?

I have 103 images in an album in iPhoto that I'm sharing with my new Appletv. Whenever I check Preview for the Screen Saver it always seems to show me the same 6  images. When I go to view the photos directly under Computers it shows a few of them instantly (these do not display under Screen Saver) though the others take a while to load.
    1. How much internal storage does the ATV have?
    2. Is there an ideal file size each of these should be? Will images load quicker if I can get them smaller?
    3. Why does the Screen Saver not show all of the images that also load instantly under Computer (I'm guessing they're cached)?
    Thanks.

I havent heard of the appleTV  deselecting items it deems to be too poor resolution.
Once it has a full cache (and it could support about 20000 large photos) you can expect that all images that show in iphoto also show in appletv.
Do they  have some flagged designation? hidden?
Are they variant in file types? jpeg png?

  • Optimum Image Sizes for iWeb 08?

I'm trying to find an optimum size for images for an online portfolio. . I have the photos in their native resolution, and I'm wondering what size should I downsize them to for the slideshow view. . . any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

It really depends on how many photos you want to load and what quality you need.
You have to trade of these against the download speed of your webpage.
The iWeb Photos or Albums pages are not the best way to present your work.

  • Most Practical Size For Multiple Images on Slideshows

    Dear All,
I'm creating a DVD that contains thousands of images on as slideshows. I've imported only a few hundred images and already Encore seems to be struggling with the file size of these pictures. I have lots of memory on my computer so I'm guessing I need to batch re-size all of my photos before importing them into the programme.
Can anyone tell me a typical file size for images if I were to be using alot of them. A file size so that I don't loose any of the quality and that won't slow down the project too much?
    Kind Regards,
    Jonny

Your images need to be 720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL, but that is with non-square pixels. They will be encoded to MPEG I-frames (similar to JPEG compression) by Encore.
Since most images are created with square pixels, you should resize to 720x534 for NTSC or 768x576 for PAL. The dpi is insignificant as it is the pixel dimensions that are important. Set it to 72 dpi for ease of viewing on the computer. If you save in an uncompressed image format such as bitmap, each image will be a little bit over 1 MB. If you save as JPEGs, they will be significantly smaller. If you do choose JPEG, make sure to set the quality high enough so that your images don't look degraded.
Edit: This is of course assuming that your images are in the 4:3 aspect ratio. If they are not, just use the dimensions I gave as an upper limit and Encore will frame the picture in black.

  • How do I show file size in the Finder icon view for images?

How can I add the file size to the icon view "File Info" for images?
I know how to get it to display the image size under View Options. In this mode it shows pixel dimensions for some images (not for svg or pdfs tho) and file size for some non-images (rar, zip, but not txt or plain text files).
Is there some plist I can modify?

  • How to set image size for importing photos from a digital camera

I'm using Iphoto 6 and am a novice user of my new digital camera. The camera is set to HQ image quality. Initially when I imported photos from the camera into IPhoto, the images were very large (over 1 meg) and produced good quality 4X6 prints. Now when I import photos from the same camera still set to HQ image quality, the photos are very small (less than 100 kb) after being imported into IPhoto. I think I must have changed some kind of setting in IPhoto that affects the size of an imported image, but I can't find where that is or how to change it back so that the size is not changed when imported. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks!

Dave, thanks for clarifying Toad's response for me - I was just too ignorant to connect the dots from his responses. As you said, there were 2 versions - 1 in the original folder and 1 in data; the original folder had the photos that were 1 mb. We must have pulled from that folder previously to print photos not realizing they existed in 2 places. So when we found these thumbnail photos, we just thought they were the real thing. Where can you go to learn about the struction and hierarchy of the photos in terms of what Iphoto does to an image when you import it? Is it in Iphoto help somewhere? Thanks so much for your help with this, and you too Toad for leading me down the path.
If you're getting the size from Finder, I think Old
Toad's question makes a lot of sense. Is the file
you're looking at, somewhere in a folder called
"Data" in iPhoto Library? That 56k sounds about the
    right size for a thumbnail.
If you do a search for the image name, both the
actual photo and the small thumbnail are stored with
    the same image, e.g. abc.jpg

  • Recommended Image Size for Contact Pictures?

    Hi All,
I want to edit up some family members to attach thier images to my iPhone contacts... Does anyone know what the preferred resolution size is for the iPhone for optimal appearance?
I've tried to do this with outlook before, and I hate the way it dithers the images to a low quality.... I'm hoping that the iPhone doesn't do this and so I wanted to experiment with how they would appear...
But instead of making the images just any random size, I wanted to crop them to the preferred image/pixel size so that my photoshopped images look like what I expect them to show up like...
If you could advise with the documented or known pixel resolution size used by the iPhone it would be appreciated!

Thanks, but I don't believe that the contacts come up full screen do they?
Usually there is a optimal image size for certain things like contact photos and I am just trying to help ensure that all my photos are the same size and don't vary...
I might be a little carried away with how I am formatting them, but just hoping someone already knows this answer!

  • Do I need to export multiple sizes for all standard print sizes? i.e.Say I crop the image in LR to 6'5" x 9' to fit within an 11" x 14" (overall) mat of a framed print.. Now let's say I want to reprint that same image in a 12" x 16" size ... to fit within

Do I need to export multiple sizes for all standard print sizes? i.e.Say I crop the image in LR to 6'5" x 9' to fit within an 11" x 14" (overall) mat of a framed print.. Now let's say I want to reprint that same image in a 12" x 16" size ... to fit within a mat of with overall size of 20" x 24"? Or will the 1st export be "locked" at 6.5" X 9" (proportionately)?

So, for the first one Export it cropped to 6.5 x 9 - and in the Export Dialog box there is a capability to rename the file for exported output - which would allow you to add something like the crop or intention to the base name of the file.  e.g. for _IMG0846.nef - setup the output filename to _IMG0846-65x9 for 11x14.jpg and output it at, say 300 or 360 dpi.  So, it has a unique name and purpose in your output folder.
For best results, now, re-crop the picture in LR - just open the crop [R] dialog again, reframe the image to the new ratio, 12x16 and Export again - with an adjustment to the filename. e.g. _IMG0846-12x16 for 20x24.jpg
So, now you have two clearly identified image files in your output area and you can provide those to whomever is printing for you, etc.  Discard them when you're done since you always have the original to return to to re-frame again as necessary.
This way you get output sharpening and resolution (in pixels) optimized for your output print size.  Maybe not super important for smallish prints-but more important for larger ones.   Output at 100 quality.

  • Image size for ibooks author

    Hi
I am making a book using iBooks author. It will be image heavy. (40-50 images)
I have a few question on images.
    1. I do not want the file to be huge or take an age to download so an Apple rep informed me that the images should ideally be no more than 500-600kb per image saved at 72dpi
Forgve my ignorance but can someone eplain to me what this means in terms of pixels?  What size (height and width) and resolution (pixels per inch) should I save images so that they can be seen at their best but not be overly large?
The finder window when I try to resize images gives me some standard options. Should I take these?  Also if I click on 1024 x 768 pixels as a standard size, the width and height boxes do not change.
    I'm a little confused.
    Many thanks

This thread is over 12 months old now...perhaps you posted here by mistake. Your problems have slready had rep,ies in another thread, however to answer your question..
No, iBA does not seem to change image  size....which is why you see posts about tickets for images size  in books held back by the review team.
Consider that Apple gave you free use of iBA. Pages, inDesign and others come at a cost.
If you intend to create other books with a high photo image content, you really need to consider investing in suitable software.
I suggest you search the net for "photo image  editors"  or similar, dont wait for iBA updates..I doubt Apple will address image sizing and "cropping" can effectively be done using the image mask.
As in all projects be it eBooks, making kitchen tables or building  a tree house...its sensible to gather all your assets and ensure they are suitable for the planned use....before starting the construction process.

  • Photo image size for letterpress card

I'm trying to create a simple card in iPhoto 11 and am having some difficulties.
The various card themes have several layout options. Each option requires a certain size image (or sizes - some layouts are for more than one image).
How am I supposed to know what size of image will fit in each "layout box"?
Am I supposed to just play with the size of the image by resizing a JPG until it fits? Too time consuming - I've tried and I just can't get it to fit. Obviously I missing something simple if this is to be an "easy way to quickly make a card". I cannot find the required image size for the various layouts anywhere, so I'm clearly missing something.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1035 tells me recommended resolutions, but they are too big to fit into a card.
NOTE: I'm not talking about cropping an image or resizing it, which I can do.
I just need to know the size these card layouts require! Where is this information located, or what am I doing wrong?
Am I confusing DPI and pixels and resolution and ....?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Best,
    Kurt

I'm not clear on whatyou are not clear on
You simply drag photos to the enpty photo frames in the template - there are move and pan controls if you want to change the position of the photo - you can reight click on a photo and select "fit to frame" in most themse if the photo ratios do not match teh frame ratios and yo are losing parts of the photo
the only "resolution" concern you have is that the photos are at least 180 DPI and if they are not you will get a warning
"Note: A yellow warning triangle with an exclamation point in the center may appear if the resolution is too low (below 180 DPI)."
The article you referenced gives Minimum pixel sizes for various uses - if your photo are that size or larger you are fine
The pixel size is shown in teh info window for a photo

  • Lightroom 1.4.1:  Reducing File/Image Size for Web/E-Mail

This should be a simple thing.
I need to reduce my file size to upload it into various things on the web and e-mail and what not.  Sometimes it asks for a specific size.
Right now, I'm using the Export function to do this, which means I have to reset the Image Settings each time in order to get to the size required.
Isn't there and easier way to do this, like just type in the image size you want and have the program reset the image proportionately?
Is there a ratio chart for this, like 1000 x 1400 = # of bytes?
This is a function used all the time--I can't believe it's this cumbersome.

    (a)     How do I know I am selecting the correct pixel size for e-mail?  Just keep hunting and pecking until I find the right mix or is there a number combination that works consistently?  And if the latter is correct, what is that number combination.
I just can't believe that reducing the MP size to get it in shape for an e-mail "thumbprint" photo is this tough.  Even with the 'preset', I'd have to set up a preset for every picture because they vary by MP and the scaling seems to change.
There is no "standard" size for sending images via email. Just make it small. There is a save for email preset in recent releases of Lr. You can download the demo and see what that entails.
You don't have to create a preset for each picture. I don't know what you would say that. Yes, the amount it compress varies with the information in the image, but this has always been the case with JPEGs. You don't have to make an image that is exactly some size. You just have to make it small enough for most MTAs and MUAs to handle. Since there is no real standard for this, just make it small enough for you.
Something like 800px on the longest side, 70-80% quality should do it to find the JPEG compression sweet-spot.
