Size in Find Finder Items
Does anyone know of problems with the Size option in Find Finder Items ?
I was hoping to make a workflow to compress all my movie files over 100MB in size.
First step was to use Find Finder Items to identify all movies over that size, but it just brings back every single one - the size option lets you enter a number but doesn't say if that is bytes, KB etc.
The action is using KB as the unit for Size.
It took a bit of trial and error to figure out, but inputting the size in KB should work.
For reference, you can use the View Results action under the Automator grouping to troubleshoot this type of thing.

Scope of Finder "show item info"
This is to document some apparently inconsistent behavior of the current Finder "show item info" view option: In Finder icon view, view->show view options->"show item info". The purpose is display additional information, including number of files in subfolders, pixel size of still photos, and running time of videos. It only applies to icon view, not list or column view, which is documented.
In "show item info" there is an additional button to "use as defaults". The scope of this option is apparently undocumented and inconsistent. You might expect it would apply from the current folder downward -- sometimes it does and sometimes not. On my 2013 iMac running 10.9.3, it seems to be more consistent on the system drive than an external HFS+. Namely on the internal drive applying it at the root level with "use as defaults" seems to propagate that option downward through the folder tree, but on the external drive (Thunderbolt Promise Pegasus R4 RAID 5) it is less consistent.
In general "show item info" is only fully reliable if invoked separately for each folder. If invoked at a higher folder level, subfolders may or may not display the additional information.
The behavior is not isolated to a single user but happens for any logged-in user on the same machine.
Show item info is probably disabled by default for performance reasons. Obtaining the additional info requires I/O. Once obtained it is apparently cached. There may be other optimizations such as don't enable on sub-folders with more than x files, but this is speculation. Regardless of the cause, the current behavior is inconsistent.
If you want to see the additional "show item info", be prepared to enable it individually for each folder.Folder layout is stored in the hidden '.DS_Store' files within each folder.
I suspect a newly installed OS will have very few .DS_Store files with custom settings so the default can propagate to the child folders. Did you clean install any of these 10.9 systems (erase the disk before install)?
On your external I'd guess that you have been using it for years & have tweaked various views etc. Some folders will be custom, some may not.
To see how many you have you can either use an app like FindAnyFile http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/ to search, or use the find command in Terminal.
find -x / -name .DS_Store
FAF will need admin permission to show inside protected directories.
find will require a sudo to do the same e.g.
sudo find -x / -name .DS_Store
The -x will prevent find crossing onto any other disks (Time Machine disks can take eons to search).
Don't forget to use the /Volumes/VOLUME-NAME for the external disks, wrap it in quotes if you have spaces in the disk name. Drag & drop will auto fill the path with the correct escapes if you drop the disk into Terminal.
You may be tempted to just delete these files but there is additional metadata stored in these files. If you remove them you may lose Spotlight comments & possibly other metadata.

Error when deleting file: Could not find this item. This is no longer located in ...
We are setting up a new Windows 2012 server. Users access this server using a 'terminal services'. We have mapped some folders from a legacy server (different domain). Using group policy preferences, we map this folder as a drive for a user.
When user wants to delete some files, he get's the error: 'Could not find this item ..' The error is displayed to the user and it looks like the file can't be deleted. But when I press the F5 (refresh) button, the file is gone. My problem is very similar

When I create 'txt' (or 'pdf', 'zip') file, i can delete it without the error. When I create 'xlsx', 'docx', 'pptx', 'bmp', 'jpg', I get the error.
Does somebody have an idea, how can I fix the cause of this problem? (I can't tell to users to hit the F5 button everytime when they face this issue)

Hello,
I get the following error with my selectOneChoice components:
WARNING Could not find selected item matching value "null" in CoreSelectOneRadio[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=dyna_2709976_11]
It seem that the component looks for a selectItem object qith its value set to null, so I tried to add one with a null value to no avail. The error don't cause any problem on the rendered page but it might spam the log when many users will be connected. Anyone every got this error and found a fix to stop it from appearing?

Unable to Delete Folder, Could not find this item
Currently, I'm having problem deleting an old Folder. Previously, I used its parent as a shared folder, but one day when I tried to clear that folder there is one folder that has duplicate. The problem is one of them (the old one) can't be deleted even after

Thanks in advance.I had this same problem using Server 2012 Std. I tried various options of taking ownership of the parent folder because the Security properties of the folder I was trying to delete were blank, using CMD and Dir /x etc. I even tried sharing
the parent folder and then using Server 2008 R2. None of them worked. When I tried Dir /x Server 2012 doesn't show the 8 character filename with the ~1. I tried typing it in myself, but that didn't work either. I then found that there was a space at the end
of the folder name. I then tried all the CMD options again using a space, still no luck. Then I finally stumbled upon this solution:
Open CMD and then type:
rd /s "\\?\D:\bad\folder\path "
example: rd /s "\\?\D:\Sharedata\folder1\folder2 " - note the space after folder2 as per the space in the folder name. Obviously D: is the drive that has the folder on it.
This worked for me
I've had a similar problem as detailed above; a power shell script that I wrote incorrectly tested for the existence of a directory and created multiple instances of the same directory.
I can confirm that the post from Rayza73 works like a charm!

Say I have the domain 'contoso.com', which is resolved by a domain controller (Controller). I have a share (Share) on Controller with everyone permissions (full control, just to test).
Now I can access Share via '\\Controller\Share' or '\\Controller.contoso.com\Share'. This is fine.
I can also access Share via '\\contoso.com\Share'. This is not fine, as follows.
If I try to e.g. create a new folder, I get 'Could not find this item. This is no longer located in contoso.com.'
Why is Share listed in the shares of contoso.com if it isn't located there?Hi,
Do you mean that you can access Share via '\\Controller\Share' or '\\Controller.contoso.com\Share' and create a new folder in it without issue, however, you cannot create a new folder in the Share folder when access share via '\\contoso.com\Share'?
I have done a test on my PC, when access share via '\\contoso.com\Share' the content is empty. I create a new folder in it, then I have a same issue with you. It seems that it is a side effect of having shared folders on a domain controller.

Could not find selected item matching value "New" warning message in ADF
Hi,
I have a selectOneChoice1 for a field which has the following fixed values in it. And while creating it, I selected the 'SelctionRequired' option so that this field will always have a value.
New
Pending
Completed.
While navigating to this page, I am trying to set the value to 'New' (Retrieved from the DB) in the backing bean. But when the page is rendered, the above field is empty with the above options in the list and jdev has the follwing error message in its log.
WARNING: Could not find selected item matching value "New" in CoreSelectOneChoice[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=selectOneChoice1]

PriyaThe value of a list binding is the zero-based integer position in the list that is selected, not the actual underlying value.
The simplest way to set the value of an attribute is to use an attribute binding (which can be bound to the same attribute as the list binding). When you set the value of an attribute binding, it sets the value as you supply it. Otherwise, you'd need to set the list binding's value to the numerical "slot" number of the one you want to change the value to. -

IPod won't sync pass 'finding purchased items'
I am trying to sync my ipod touch with my music and i have never had a problem until today. Everything is working fine until i get to finding purchased items then it just frezes. I have no other applications open other than itunes. I have not upgraded to iOS 5. My ipod touch is on version 4.2.1. Thax for any help.
To transfer purchased iTunes Store songs from iPod to computer, select the iPod in iTunes. You can do this from the sidebar. Click on the iPod under DEVICES.
NOTE: If the iTunes sidebar is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
With the iPod selected in iTunes, from the menu bar
File -> Devices -> Transfer Purchases from "[name of iPod]"
Alternately, you can re-download previous purchases from the iTunes Store at no cost. On the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS, click on Purchased. On the Purchased screen, you can find and download previously purchased songs, including those made on the iPod touch.
NOTE: You need to be signed in to the iTunes Store using the same Apple ID used to make the purchases on the iPod touch.
Also, if you use the same Apple ID on the iPhone, you should be able re-download (at no cost) previous purchases from the iTunes Store, directly on the iPhone. -
"Find Related Items" in Entourage (like Outlook on PC)?

I use Outlook on a Win XP machine at work and Entourage on my Mac at home. I cannot find anywhere in Entourage where there is a command that behaves the same as the "find related items" command does in Outlook. I use this extensively on my work computer because it automatically finds any messages in my inbox and sent items which belong to the same thread and allows me to quickly select all those
messages and file them in another folder together.
There is a "Find Related Items" command in my Edit menu in Entourage but it is always greyed out. From what I can read about it, it will only find "related" items which I have manually created links to. Not very helpful in my opinion. Is there a third party script or something which gives Entourage the same functionality as Outlook?If you don't get an answer here, there is a help
