Size limit for sending attachments?

Anyone know what the size limit is for sending/forwarding e-mails with attachments when using a BES?
I am the IT administrator and all the file sizes are set to unlimited in the BES attachment manager configuration.
A user received an email with a 4MB attachment and they are attempting to forward it and they are unable to.
In researching this some people have said this is a RIM limitation, I haven't found any definitive answer from an official source on this though.
I did find this FAQ:
http://wirelesssupport.verizon.com/faqs/PDA+Smartphone+Email/faqs.html?t=5#item12
That says it's either 4MB or 2MB.
But i'm not sure if they're only taking about POP or BIS accounts and not a corporate server in the mix or not.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thank you very much.
it is 3MB.
this is also described here: http://docs.blackberry.com/en/admin/deliverables/12107/Change_max_file_size_for_attach_users_send_497943_11.jsp
This is really surprising to me.
RIM needs to upgrade their network from  late 90's standards.
It's pretty common for people to send and receive attachments larger than 3MB these days.
I will need to start recommending people buy android, windows mobile or iphones moving forward.

  • Size Limit for Workitem attachments

    Hello Gurus,
I am using FM SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD to add the attachments to a workitem from web dynpro application.
I have got two questions regarding this FM.
    1) Where all the documents will be stored? Database or DMS/BDS, GOS..etc
    2) Will there be any size limit on the documents being stored?
    Awaiting inputs on this!
    Thanks in Advance!

  • Anyone know the ActiveSync size limit for Sending?

I noticed that I have quite a few Event ID 1008 Warnings on my Exchange server today.  All of them are exactly the same and are all for the same user.  They occur every 5-10 min.  So I have discovered through research that this is caused (at
least in this case) by a message being sent from the mobile device (iPhone in this case) that is to big.
I have run a test on my own device (Droid X) where I attempted to send a message with a 14MB attachment.  The exact error is logged at the same time as the other intial error.  This is easy enough to fix: you simply need to go to the
Outbox on the phone or device and delete the stuck message.
However, I am now currious where this limit is set and how to find the exact size limit.  Through searching no one seems to know, but the limit is deteremined somewhere between 5-10MB.  Also, it is not set in Exchange as others like to recommend.
My send connector message size is 50MB and there is no limit set on the ActiveSync policy.
Anyone know the answer to this?  Is it an Exchange setting or is it determined by the particular phone/tablet?\
    Thanks.
    Event 1008 for others reference:

How can I increase the file size limit for outgoing mail. I need to send a file that is 50MB?

You can't change it, and I suspect few email providers would allow a file that big.  Consider uploading it to a service like Dropbox, then email the link allowing the recipient to download it.

  • Where can I Increase the size limit for attachments

    Good Morning:

  • Is There a size limitation for sending e-mail photos

I am using the latest version of MS Entourage and my mail account is with .MAC
Yesterday I highlighted two pictures in iphoto and clicked the e-mail icon but was then unable to send the mail. I got an error message. I deleted one of the phtos and still got the error.
I then discovered the size dialog box and clicked "small" and was able to send one photo.
I can receive mail with up to 20 attached Jpg items, But can't forward the same e-mail message. Is there a size limitation in Entourage or in .mac.
    Thanks

There is no such limit with Entourage or Apple's Mail application but email account providers have an overall message size limit for received and sent messages.
.Mac has an overall message size limit of 10 MB for received and sent messages which is a typical limit but I have a few friends and business associates who have a smaller overall message size limit of 5 MB. Although I can send a message that is up to 10 MB in size with my .Mac account, the message will not be accepted by the incoming mail server for the friends and business associates with a 5 MB message size limit.
All files attached to a message must be encoded before being sent and decoded when received. Most email clients such as Entourage and Mail use MIME for attachment encoding/decoding which is the internet standard. A problem with MIME is it isn't very efficient. The encoding process increases the size of the pre-encoded file by roughly 50% of so. A file that is 5 MB in size (pre-encoded) will be roughly 7.5 MB in size due to the encoding process.
What was the exact error message provided?

  • Size limit for flar file with Sol 10 WANBOOT

There seems to be some kind of a size limit for flash archive files used by wanboot. When I try to wanboot jumpstart, I get the following:
    Processing profile
    - Opening Flash archive
ERROR: HTTP server returned an invalid archive file size: <-1256985017> bytes
ERROR: Invalid HTTP headers were returned from the server
    ERROR: Flash installation failed
    Solaris installation program exited.
The flash archive is about 3GB. I'm doing the WANBOOT using the "boot cdrom" work-around, because the V100 I'm jumpstarting doesn't support the newer OBP parameters.
If create a new smaller flash archive like so:
    mv sol10.flar sol10.flar.old
    dd if=sol10.flar.old of=sol10.flar bs=1024K count=1024
cutting the flar down to 1GB. Then I do the wanboot. I don't get the error, and the jumpstart proceeds. Of course it would eventually have a problem when the cpio file reached premature end.
So is there a prescribed limit to flars with WANBOOT. I'm assuming it's 2GB, but if so, why?
No I haven't tried creating a compressed flar: that's next.

Any help would be much appreciated.hi. i spent a long time on this issue...and got it working reliably for more than 10 gb flars.
there are two issues- 1) apache must be 64 bit capable, and 2) you need the latest wanboot miniroot, for solaris 9 and one for solaris 10. i worked for a different division of a major car company based in stuttgart (take a guess) than i do now, and we eventually received the support we needed from sun, through the early release program. i do not know any details about if, how, or when those miniroots are otherwise available. at some point, i can only assume they will be generally available to all, if not already.
if someone knows more about this availability issue, i would also be interested in this issue.
    thanks, dls

  • Size limit for how much video can be included in an AIR file?

I'm making an AIR app to play a video locally.  It is on a PC with no internet connection, so the video (fv4) is  included with the air install file.  Is there a size limit for how much  video can be included in an AIR file? I seem to get the "...file is  damaged..." error when I include a video over 200mb. I use Flash CS4 to  create and AIR is v 1.53.

I'm authoring in CS4 on a MAC with the latest OS and 4GB ram.  It plays fine on the Mac.  On a WIN7 PC with all updates and 4GB ram I get the errors if the air file that contains a video file over 200mb.  I heard that AIR 2 should solve the issue and that it is just a PC issue.. Maybe...   I have not tried using ADT to package the file.

is there a size limit for uploading files?

    You have max 20GB storage.

The only limit after that is the speed of your internet connection since extremely large files can take hours to upload.

the only limitation is that the BLOB data type is 4GB
