Size of BI Installation on ECC6

Dear Experts,
I want to know about how much space required for Business Intelligence installation in ECC6 normally? Thanks in advance!

Hubert,
what is the 50Gigs installation for? ECC6 + BI AddOns?
How is the BI Installation basically? Does it come as part of ECC6 or should be installed as Add-Ons separately?
Any necessary disk space requirements in particular as part of BI installation?

While performing installation at the begining when we run sapinst server logoff at the begining, then we proceed ahead and start the installation.
My question why in windows server installation phase why our server log off.
I have observer in this time it creates a sapinst_instdir folder in program files and collect all the information of our installation
Can anybody gives me answer of my doubt

If you read the Window popping up before the system logs you off you will get that information...

Error in prepare_jspm_queue in Ehp installer for ecc6.0

Hi,
When I am running EHPI for our ecc6.0, i getting error in prepare_jspm_queue phase, Log file says 'stack.xml contains no components for this system.' It searched the xml file and gave the error. But in my environment we are not using any java components. But I started the ehpi with both abap and java. now i would like to run abap only if possible. other wise what i can do to over come this error.
any help is appreciated.
I am attaching the log here.

You can start EHPi tool to upgrade ABAP as well. Please follow SAP note 1245473. Please find below extract from this note:

Dual-Stack Systems Only: Disabling the Java Stack Handling
If you have updated your ERP 6.0 system with EHP4 and later want to install
further technical usages for the ABAP stack only, you can disable the Java
stack handling. Do not use this option for any other purpose then the one
stated above.
This option is available as of SAP EHP Installer 7.00 patch level 18. To
disable the Java stack handling, start the installation program by entering
the following additional parameter for executing the STARTUP script:
-srvarg=/DSUService/javadisabled=true

The question about the HA installation on ECC6.0

We are about to implement a project with HA environment on the ECC6.0 in the near future, which is just about the ABAP stack. After reading the Installating Guide, I stil have several questions related to the procedures of HA installation.
In the guide document, I got the following steps to process for realizing the HA of ECC6.0:
1. Run SAPinst to install the central services instance (ASCS) using the virtual host name on the primary cluster node, host A.
2. Prepare the standby node, host B, making sure that it meets the hardware and software requirements and it has all the necessary file systems, mount points, and (if required) Network File System (NFS), as described in Preparing for Switchover .
3. Set up the user environment on the standby node, host B. For more information, see Creating Operating System Users and Groups Manually. Make sure thatyou use the same user and group IDs as on the primary node. Create the home directories of users and copy all files from the home directory of the primary node.
4. Configure the switchover software and test that switchover functions correctly.
5. Install the database instance on the primary node, host A.
6. Install the central instance with SAPinst on the primary node, host A.
7.If required, install additional dialog instances with SAPinst to replicate the SAP system services that are not a SPOF. These nodes do not need to be part of the cluster.
My Question is that does standby node(host B in above context) need to install the ASCS, database instance and Central Instance?
If host B does not need to install the database instance, how about the whole system would be when the primary cluster node (Host A in above context) totally crash, such as power failure.

1. You don't need to install ASCS on Node B. You are installing it using a VIRTUAL HOSTNAME which represent cluster not individual node. VIRTUAL HOSTNAME is assigned to cluster package, so whichever Node is the owner of the package, will have the VIRTUAL HOSTNAME. (it will switch with cluster switchover)
2. It is actually a cluster package configuration magic. When Node A is active, cluster package owner is Node A. So all mount points (which is on SAN disk) is mounted on Node A. When you switchover the cluster, those packages will be mounted on Node B.
Some time single cluster package is used (which includes mount points for SAP instance + Database directories). You can also use 2 cluster package seperating SAP and Database directory structure.
Only OS related directories should be on servers local disk. All other application related mount points should be on SAN disk which is configured in "Cluster Package". (For example /sapmnt, /usr/sap, /oracle etc.)
You only need identical users and their enviornment settings on both Nodes.
In simple words, When primary node fails or crashed only users and thier enviornment setting will be lost. On second node, because of identical users and their profiles, same settings will be available to bring up the SAP system. Your all SAP and Database data is intact as it is on SAN Disk.

Boot Lun size for W2012 installation

Is there a rule how big a boot lun must be for a W2012 server installation; server memory size, e.g. 64GB / 128GB / 256 GB / 512 GB
I have seen, that for a 512 GB size, a boot lun of 60GB is by far not enough.

Wont argue, taking time with customer I dont have to try and help you. Typically when the "Unable to install" message is up there its because the MS Installation CD is not currently mapped in the Virtual Media due to the Drivers CD being mapped. Map the drivers CD, install drivers for Storage->Cisco since we're using the VIC cards and booting from SAN. Once the fnic driver is installed I can see the LUN but it says cannot install to it. At this time I typically add a few more drivers to save time, like network for cisco, storage for LSI as well as chip set but you dont have to. With the error showing you go to virtual media, uncheck the map driver.iso file, check the box to map the MS installation cd/dvd again. Returning to the server installation the error still shows. At this time I now click refresh below the list of drives and once that refresh has completed the error is gone but a new one shows stating the LUN is too small and needs to be increased to 150GB. This size is because of page file required due to our memory amount, this will change based upon your memory for the blade, per microsofts documented amounts. However we still wanted 40GB for the bootable LUN so we clicked "Next" despite the error and it continues and starts the installation. This is our experiance, and at this customer site I have now done 22 servers this week, some 2008 and some are 2012 and all of them reacted the same, which is consistent with my past installs.

Problems in Dialog instance installation for ECC6.0(ABAP+JAVA)

Does anyone can help me what should be a procedure of installing Dialog instance for ECC 6.0 with both ABAP + Java Stacks.
When installing app server do we also choose ABAP and Java or just ABAP. Installation manual does not cover this and when we run the sapinst we have following problem:

Am I missing some pre-reqs or variable definitions?
I was going through the documentation and it says that /sapmnt/DSP/exe should be a local filesystem for a DI on a separate server. Will this create a problem ?
Also they talk about starting sapinst with the variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME set to ddrsap02. I have tried this also
We are also not 100% sure about the settings for parameters:
rdisp/mssserv
rdisp/mssserv_internal
Accorss Devault Instance and Services Instance profile.
When we define it as per installation GUIDE (Abap+Java page 64) we get the popup message in SAPINST:

Other errors follow shortly.

We are installing ECC 6.0 with Oracle 10202 on Suse Linux 10 ( 64 bit ) machine.
We are facing error in the Import ABAP phase.
Below is the error:

Dear Gurus,
I want to install ECC6.0 EHP5 on suse linux 11 i.e SLES-11-SP1 and my database will be DB2.
i want to install ABAP+JAVA.that means i have to install ABAP Instance first after then i have to add JAVA Instance into it.
Am i Correct?

Installation of ECC6 on AIX/ DB2 taking long time

Hi,
I am installing SAP ECC 6 on a heavy power server with AIX 5.3 with DB2 9 and amd all the other setting is perfect with correct JDK version. The first 24 step on installation went fine in 20 min and its been more than 16 hrs where installation is on ABAP import step. The installation is running fine with out any error but its takeing long time
does it take long time on AIX with DB2?

CIN installation on ECC6 SAP system upgrated from 4.6C SAP release

Hi all,
We have a ECC6 SAP system upgrated 4 years ago from a 4.6C SAP release system. In the old SAP release we don't have installed CIN 40A for India localization, and now we need to have this functionalities has we have to do a rollout on SAP for one indian company.
Problem is that we don't have found any OSS note that explain clearly what we have to do to have in our ECC6 SAP system CIN functionalities.
After application of support packages on level 17 (up minimum required by OSS note 1175384) we have launch function j_1bsa_component_check but we have exception that country IN isn't installed.
We can't use transaction O035 as we have a SAP system already customized.
Thanks in advance for any help or useful information someone can do us about this problem.

i about to install IDES 6 and was downloading all the DVD's.
Now I want to start the Installation process in the installation master DVD 51034992_11 but I can not find anything like 'central instance' on the first screen.
What do I have to choose to install IDES?

found in hinweis 1244548 the proper procedure.
unfortunatly it is only 32 bit system, so only abap stack is possible.
only thing left is, the 3 export dvd's are the same, all with data the same data.
Have to find out.

How to change block size 32 at installation of oracle

i'm going to install aoracle on 64bit windows server 2003. but the problem i'm facing is that i dont know how to change bolck size from 8k to 32k. i usually run setup dan install oracle but during this process it not prompt to change Bolck size. plz help what step i should take in order to successful installtion of oracle 64bit with 32K block size. i tried to find dcoumnet link but every body disscuse the db block size could be change but how i did find anywhere.

From Bug 5141453, development indicates that DB_BLOCK_SIZE cannot be changed for the General Purpose, Transaction Procession and DataWarehouse templates as the seed database is using 8k block size.
You should create a custom database to get a different block size.
