Size of photo file when sent through imessage

WWhen I text a photo on iMessage does it send the photos full file size?

I was sure this curse was an Android feature since I had it constantly with my Nexus phones for the last two years, but sure enough it affects iOS8 too. Turn off wireless and and your MMS will go out fine over cellular ever time (in my experience anyway). Ridiculous, right?

My pictures send through iMessage only to certain people. And others the message is saying " delivered" but the person on the other end isn't getting any of my picture messages and sometimes regular iMessages with no pictures.

• Corrupted file when sent through mail

Hello,
I wrote a script that, among other things, sends an email with an attached binary file.
This goes through an SMTP relay server.
The problem is that the file gets corrupted along the way. something, somewhere, removes all 0x00 entries within the binary file.
I wonder if this could be due to the method I use to send the email.
Could someone have a look at this sub please ?
Sub SendMail (AttachmentFile)
Const SMTPServer = "zcabb37s.mydom.com"
Const SMTPServerPort = 25
Const MailExp = "[email protected]"
Dim Recipents, objMessage
Recipents = ""
For i = 0 To WScript.Arguments.Count - 1
If Len (Recipents) = 0 Then
Recipents = WScript.Arguments (i)
Else
Recipents = Recipents & "; " & WScript.Arguments (i)
End If
Next
Set objMessage = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
objMessage.Subject = "Stats du jour"
objMessage.From = MailExp
objMessage.To = Recipents
On Error Resume Next
objMessage.AddAttachment AttachmentFile
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
Call Echo ("Could not find attachment : " & " - " & Err.Number & Err.Source & " - " & Err.Description, 12)
Call Echo ("with " & AttachmentFile, 1)
WScript.Quit (5)
End If
On Error Goto 0
objMessage.Configuration.Fields.Item ("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendusing") = 2
objMessage.Configuration.Fields.Item ("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver") = SMTPServer
objMessage.Configuration.Fields.Item ("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserverport") = SMTPServerPort
objMessage.Configuration.Fields.Update
On Error Resume Next
objMessage.Send
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
Call Echo ("Could not send mail : " & " - " & Err.Number & Err.Source & " - " & Err.Description, 12)
Call Echo ("to " & Recipients, 1)
Call Echo ("with " & AttachmentFile, 1)
WScript.Quit (5)
End If
On Error Goto 0
Call Echo ("Mail sent to : " & Recipents & ".", 1)
Call Echo ("with attached file : " & AttachmentFile, 1)
End Sub

This is not a scripting issue. Contact the server vendor or admin and ask them why they are doing that.
Perhaps you have a Unicode file that is being handled incorrectly. EXE files and binary files are usually blocked by mail systems.
The CDO package does not alter files. Only mail servers and mail clients will do that.
Try sending the file with PowerSHell to see that the same thing happens.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

• Iphone 4 recieves my brothers iphone 3gs messages when sent via imessage

My iphone 4 recieves my brothers iphone 3gs messages when sent via imessage. When he texts me, his name comes through as my email address. I think this could be because we both have the same itunes account. not all messages my brother sends i recieve but i would just like this sorted out. please help!

Sounds like you signed up the same account for iMessages or the same phone number was added to iMessages.
Go into SETTINGS/MESSAGES/SEND & RECEIVE
That is the list of numbers and email addresses that the phones will receive iMessages for. Remove the duplicates that you might see between the two phones. Also make sure that the Apple ID at the top is not the same.

• Emails always are suck in outbox when sent through Apple mail

Emails always are suck in outbox when sent through Apple mail. How should I deal with it ? Many thanks!

As mentioned, Outlook is not email standards compliant. It probably never will be based on Microsoft's history. However, I think there are various issues involved in the problems people have. I often send emails from home to my Outlook account at work. I have never experienced any of the problems that I've seen posted anywhere regarding Mail and Outlook.
My conclusion is that there are issues with certain Exchange Server configurations and/or issues with your own ISP mail server causing the issues.
I do have my system set up to Always send windows friendly attachments (from what I've read, this really is 'send Outlook friendly attachments'), and always put attachments at the end. Prior to the 'always put attachments at the end,' I wasn't having any issues, either. However, I read that that setting helped with other email clients, so I use it.
The obvious question is, "well, how is your exchange server configured." I would love to provide the answer to that question; however, I work for a DoD organization, so actually tracking down the person that knows the answer to that question will take somewhere between five years and never. With my 20+ years experience with the DoD, I'm leaning towards the never end of the spectrum. The other half of the equation is, "I'm using cox as my ISP."

• Photos are split in 2 files when sent by Apple Mai, why?

Anybody encountered the same problem?
if sending a photo by mail, my web.de account would show the recieved email with 2 files instead of one!!
Also if I send photos to my msn.com account, there appears the same phenomenon.
I can't open these 2 files with my Windows Pc, but if loading them to my Powerbook, I can open one file (the photo) but the other file would appear as a thumbnail and can't be opened by any program.
What's odd:
if I send a photo with apple mail in connection with iphoto, there would appear the same problem if choosing the original size of the photo.
BUT if I choose another size (big, or small for example) the
email arrives without any phenomenon. The photo is usable also in my Windows Pc then.
Another strange thing:
I use Apple mail/ entourage (on my Apple) for recieving emails. So if I send a photo with original size to myself (as an experiment) the programs actually show only 1 file as it should be. (Remember: the web.de account and the msn.com account would show the same email with 2 files instead!)
If loading the photo (any photo) manually by my web.de account and sending it with the web.de account the email would appear in every case with the one file (photo) as it should arrive.
Does Apple Mail have encoding problems? And why does my entourage program have the exactly the same problem???
Why doees the problem disappear if I change the photo size with iphoto in connection with Apple mail / entourage?

I have to add something:
the two files the photo is split to are:
1) the bigger one is the jpeg file, the photo itself.
2) the smaller one is a TIFF file, which can be only displayed if loaded to my Powerbook. Its a miniature view / icon of the jpeg photo.
On the Windows Pc both files can't be displayed!
The pictures were taken with my Canon IXUS 800 IS and were imported through iphoto.
Another important thing I discovered:
Other photos, taken by other digicams make no trouble when sent by Apple mail or Entourage, ...
Anybody has an idea how to fix this?

• Specifying the size of a file when creating a new file

How do I go about doing this? I specifically need to create different file sizes (2mb's all the way up to 10mb). I was poking around through the File class and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. There is a way to get the size of it in bytes, but no way to create an empty file straight off the bat with the file size specified. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks.

the reason I want to do this is because I need to pass certain file sizes over a network and see if the system can handle the sizes of the file under load. the files dont necessarily have to be empty, they can be filled with a bunch of jibberish, but I figured it would be easier to be able to just specify the size of the file rather than have a loop that loops and places over 2 million characters into a file. because a 2mb file is going to be the smaller of the files that needs passed through and that will take too long to create.
and thanks for the link to randomaccessfile. im probably going to use that, just specify the file size and be done with it. unless theres a better way to do it, but i cant find anything.

• Why do I get 3 sets of photo files when I transfer 3 catalogs.

Transferred 3 catalogs from old computer, PSE 9, to new computer, PSE 11. Result is 3 sets of photo files, all different trees. Did this previously, then put all files in one place, reconnected one catalog and the tags were all messed up. Wrong tag with the pictures, not acceptable! I have about 6000 pictures in files by date. Many files have pictures sorted into more than one catalog. Reconnecting also brought the wrong pictures into the catalogs. Had to delete everything and start over. How do I end up with all picture files in one place - Pictures - and also have 3 catalogs accessing the correct file. It worked great in PSE 9!

there seems to be two sets of Library files.
You should have three different folders named "Library". They are
<~/Library>, or the Library folder in your Home folder (aka, Library folder from user domain)
</Library>, or the Library folder at the root level of your startup disk (aka, Library folder from local domain)
</System/Library>, or the Library folder in the System folder (aka, Library folder from system domain)
And under no circumstances should you even dream of deleting any one of them.
Should this dream ever occur, you need to get cured by reading a basic book about Macs, eg, David Pogue's "Missing Manual…".

• Can ISave a photo that was sent via iMessage

I have several photos that were sent to me in the Message App. Can I save any of the photos to my Camera Roll in the photo App? I selected a photo and received options of COPY & MORE. NEITHER PROVIDED A SAVE option

Thanks Bob,
I was tapping the photo several times (my mistake). Tapping the photo just once enlarged the photo and tapping it again produced the box with the arrows. I will note sdgfa's recommendation is email only.
Hope all is well. I know the FaceTime issue was pretty hectic for you, but I am glad Apple was finally able to resolve the issue.
Take Care and thanks again

• Lightroom can not get my photo file when I go to nik plug in any help?

Lightroom is unable to prepare my file when I go to my nik plug in. It says it can not open the file. I'm working off an external hard drive and I have tried both of them. any help out there?

It's failing to load Main.swf
I noticed that you do have a main.swf
Perhaps the file was renamed at some point.

• IPhone 3GS MMS works when sent through Photos app but not Messages app?

I recently got the iPhone 3G S 3.1 update, but for some reason when I send MMS through the camera button on the Messages screen it doesn't send. The "Sending" bar would go almost to the end and then stop for about 5 - 10 seconds, and then it reaches the end, but it doesn't send when I did a test with two of my friends. Though, when I click the "MMS" button on the photos app, it does send. I don't get why MMS doesn't work in the Messages app when it does in the Photos app, can you guys help me figure out the problem and how to fix it?
Thanks.

• Missing Photo Files When Copied to a Server

I am new to Keynote and I'm having problems moving a file from my desktop to a server at work. There are about six photos that won't appear when I open the Keynote file off the server. In their place are boxes with a big x and a question mark. I noticed that all the missing files are not in the package contents and their file names start with the letter R or S. All the files in the package begin with letters A through P. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, I just thought it was an odd coincidence. I just want to figure out how to include my missing files in the package contents.

It was a problem with the server. When I saved the file to an external hard drive everything worked fine.

• How do I share Mac music and photo files when in Windows Bootcamp mode?

I have a new iMac with a terabyte of storage that includes about 30 gigs each of iTunes music and jpg photos. I need to share them to the Windows Bootcamp environment so I can wirelessly stream to them to a DLink DSM 320 media server connected to an AV system located in another room. When in Bootcamp Windows the the 320 can "see" the Windows machine but cannot find any media.
So the question is, how do I share files between Mac and Windows when in Windows Bootcamp?
A better solution would be to directly connect the Dlink when in the Mac environment but I have not been able to find software to do that (the Dlink product is for PC only.) If anyone knows of such software that would be great too.

Windows needs third party software to see files on the MAC OS extended FS. I've heard MacDrive does this.
