Size of picture

I have noticed that some commercials are larger than my screen, much like wide screen movies that are not shown in letter box. I don't know if this happens with any other stuff because I don't know what is supposed to be on the edges but with commercials, telephone numbers and other info that is on the edges is cut off. I have contacted the TV stations about this and they tell me that they are not having that problem so it must be something Verizon is doing, almost like putting a camera to close to a picture.

That would be a function of your TV.
Would need to use your TV remote for any size function.

If you have Pages you can create customs pages for your book as TD suggested. If you have Pages from iWork 09 or 11 this app will add 80 or so additional frames to those offered:  Frames and Strokes Installer. Don't use it on the latest Pages version, however.
This tutorial shows how to create a custom page with the theme's background: iP11 - Creating a Custom Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book.  Once the page is complete to get it into iPhoto as a jpeg file follow these steps:
Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. For books to be printed choose 300 dpi.

  • How do you change the size of pictures?

    Hello,
I'm a new Mac user. How do you change the size of pictures in iPhoto? Sometimes when sending e-mails, the picture files are extremely large and take a long time to load... Is there any way you can make the picture or file smaller? Like on a PC, you can open the photo in the Paint program and just reduce the size... Is there anything like this for the Mac?
    Thanks!

Assuming that you're accessing your email package from INSIDE iPhoto, you're given a choice of picture sizes. Personally, I've found "medium" to be a good compromise but you might prefer "small" (iPhoto will tell you the file size).
If you don't know what I'm talking about, first go iPhoto Preferences > General and select your email client. Then, go to the View menu and select Show in Toolbar > Email.

  • L need help with textedit, I inserted a picture then the cursor went from small to the size of picture and l need to write a header next to the picture not at the bottom of it. can anyone help please?

Can anyone tell me how to make cursor smaller after inserting picture so that l can add somethimg right next to it instead of bottom of picture. Meaning the next line is too low

AFAIK, you can't. The nature of TextEdit is that it allows the picture to be treated as a character and adjusts the cursor size for that line.
You need a app that supports transparent overlays.

  • I want to set a maximum size for pictures when FF shows websites. How can i do that? NO I DONT MEAN "HOW TO ZOOM".

I have FF 34 but this problem has been there for a lot of earlier versions. On many webpages there are pictures that cover my whole screen, and I want to set maximum size for showing images on webpages.
I ONLY wanr to change the maximum size of the images, AND IAM NOT asking about how to zoom the webpage.

Do you want to hide large images or merely make them smaller by setting a max-width and max-height?
You would probably have to use JavaScript (bookmarklet) to achieve this reliably.
There are bookmarklets to make large images fit in the window to avoid a horizontal scroll bar
You can try this code in the <b>userContent.css</b> file (adjust the max-width accordingly).
    <pre><nowiki>img { max-width: 1024px !important; height: auto !important; }</nowiki></pre>
The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the <b>chrome</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder.
*Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
*Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userContent.css file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
*Paste the code in the userContent.css file in the editor window
*Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userContent.css.<br>Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userContent.css.txt file

  • Cannot change size of picture (in Ko) when saving with Preview

    Hello all,
    I need your help please.
When I modify a picture with Preview, like resize it for example, then I want to save the picture, I cannot change the size in Ko like I used to be able to with Snow Leopard.
Before, in the "Save as" menu, there was an arrow to decrease or increase the "weight" in Ko of the picture. This arrow is still there, but it does not show the number of the actual weight of the picture anymore (is it 400 ko, or 500 ko, or 600 ko, etc...).
Anyone has the same problem ?

I tried the steps you mentioned and found that this issue is also present in Previous versions as in PSE 10 also.
I will suggest you to check "Convert Files to" check box and then select "JPEG Max Quality" from corresponding drop down in order to maintain the quality of your JPEG image.
You can do it specially in case you are processing JPEG files and your image quality will remain same.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Maximum file size in picture ring?

    Hello folks!
I am planing to use a picture ring with a quite big amount of data needed.
My question: is there a maximum data size that i can embed in a picture ring (number of pictures or overall file sizes)?
    Thanks!

If you have enough memory to keep all the images open simultaneously, then something like this might help.  Put all your images in the same directory on disk and have no other files in that directory. Then use List Folder from the Advanced File palette to get an aaray of the filenames.  Feed that array to a for loop where you open all the files and place the images into the pict ring.  I have written a "slide show" program which does this. Never tried it with 400 images though.
If you do not have enough memory for all the images, then you need to manage the iamges much more carefully.

  • How do you size a picture in Photoshop Element 11

How do you size picture's to be sent in a email? On the old version I could figure it out be now on this version I can find where to do this. Also how do you make a collogues in Photoshop Elements 11
Thank you for your help, Jack Frowein

if you are saving your image as jpeg and really dont care much about the pixel dimension and just worry about the file size, I think using lower jpeg compression ratio is a better option.  For example: if i want my image to have really small file size, I would simply use a lower jpeg quality(probably Medium or low) while saving the file.
Another easy solution would be to use Save for web, which shows you enough save options to precisely control your file size and dimension

  • Preview Folder - Big Size of Pictures

I've just started to add photos to my Library on iphoto, but I decided to keep the originals in an external disk, as I don't want my mac book pro completly full of photos.
So I selected under preferences -->Advanced -->no copy elements to Iphoto library
So that way I'm keeping out of Mac disk the GB of photos I have.
My Question is Why Iphoto is keeping a folder called Previews (near Masters and Originals), with exactly the same photos I have in the external disk and with the same size?
Can anyone tell me how To disable this? Is it really necessary for Iphoto do a Preview with that size ?
    Thanks
    Francisco

    Thanks for helping me Terence,
The reason I'm using a referenced library or external disk, it's because I already have 150 GB of info and over 55.000 photos, so I can't have all that info inside Mac. But I will try your advise you provide on the other forum
"Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk."
Can I use Time capsule (2Tb) to do this? Is it ok?
    "As to the Previews:
What exactly are you importing? Raws? Jpegs? Do the Jpegs have Exif tags written to them?"
I'm importing Jpeg and Raws, yes Jpeg have Exif Tags
    Thanks

  • Won't print correct size of pictures

My computer runs Vista and I recently installed a HP 1510 series printer.  It prints regular documents fine, but when I try to print 4x6 pictures it will not print the full size.  I am given only one option in print job (Windows Photo Gallery is default software) full page.  I have tried selecting and de-selecting "fit frame" and it made not difference.  I have reset the printer a few times and checked to be sure all drivers were up-to-date.  I just want to click on the picture and have it print the right size!  Any help would be appreciated.
    This question was solved.

    MaryLiz,
You do have to have the Full Feature Software installed for your printer for this to all work properly:
Install Full Feature Software - Printer
If you have the printer software installed, it is probably OK.
    ===========================================================================
If you select paper size 4X6, then you cannot also select the other options shown in that last column.  These are mutually exclusive.  The options that are available change according to the kind of paper you select.
Are you using 4X6 paper in the printer?
The printing preferences are something you have to set up the way you like -- and then change them when you change the paper, change the "thing" you are printing, change your mind about what you want...
You can click on a photo and have it automatically print a 4X6 photo if you have a printer with a photo-tray in it with photo paper loaded and ready to go.  You would still have to change the printing preferences if you wanted to change the setup for any reason at all.
I think I might be missing the point entirely.  My apologies for the Sloth-Brain.  Smiling.

  • Resolution/Size of Pictures in Mail

Hi! I am a new Mac user, so if this question has been answered before or appears "dumb" please excuse the learning curve from a former PC owner.
I was wondering if anyone knew what resolution/picture size mail uses when you attach a picture to an outgoing email. When I use mail and change the picture size in the lower right hand corner, what size does mail change the picture to? For example, is medium 640 x 480?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi.
    The Sizes are:
    Large 1290x960
    Medium 640x480
    Small 320x240
If the size of the picture you attach is in between of any of those sizes, the larger one (or ones) will be dimmed.
Also, if you email a picture from iPhoto, you have one more option: full size (the size your camera suports).
    Good Luck.

  • Question about image size, canvas size and Picture frame

    Hi,
This has always been a little confusing so let me describe what my question is:
    Assume I have a created a new PSD that is 8 1/2 x 11.
The canvas size is the same 8 1/2 x 11.
I want to put a border around the picture (say 1/2 of an inch all around), and put the finished picture in a Picture frame.  After it is in the frame, you would be able to see the entire picture plus the border.
    Q.  Should I change (reduce image size) of the PSD to (for this example), 8 x 10 1/2.      Then increase the canvas size to 8 1/2 x 11.  After I increased the canvas size, do a  Paint Bucket fill with white (to create the White border)?  then print the changed size PSD on 8 1/2 x 11 paper so that it will fit into a 8 1/2 x 11 picture frame
I realize I could have just created the new PSD to be 8 x 10 1/2 in the first place.
Hope I made this somewhat clear.
    Bob

1: Decrease the size as you describe.
    2. Go to File>New or Ctrl N
    3. Make the box 8.5x11. Make sure the other data conforms to your image.
    4. Now,holding down Ctrl-Shift, Drag the image to the new box and release the mouse. Your image will be centered in the box.
Note: there may be a method to do this including any adjustment layers, but I usually only do this as a last step, flattening a copy of the working file.

  • What controls the size of pictures in a slideshow?

On my MacBook the pictures are 2" wide.

    Lori,
The photos are being dragged from iPhoto with original files sizes of 3008x2000.
Maybe it was because I dragged an Event to the album instead of the individual photos. I'll have to try dragging the individual files over.
Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks, Todd
    EDIT:
*I looked in the image folder and there are four files:*
    DSC_5482.jpg
    micro.jpg
    mip.jpg
    thumb.jpg
*It does appear the slideshow is using the thumb.jpg.*
*Now how do I change it to show the original picture?*

  • How do keep e mail attachements on server / reduce attachement size of pictures send by Q10

Hi there, i just have received my new BB Q10...a wonderful device, but as i am a long time user of prior BB phones i am missing the data compression now a lot...specially as i am using it a lot for international business trips and data roaming is an issue!
Now at least every Android or iPhone does have the feature that you can set e mail settings to allow keeping attachements on the server and to make manual download if you decide to open attachemnet...BB Q10 does not offer this feature....all e mails received have attachement in full size downloaded already!  :-(.
Sending an e mail and using for instance a picture, taken with Q10 also does not allow to reduce the size of the picture...(like on Android and iphone you can select...low...middle...large size at least)
For me the main reason of using blackberry was data compression and the low size of data traffic...
Now by out of the blue it is opposite!  I even cannot decide to keep attachements on server...every smartphone can do this...so BB changed from a data traffic saving item to a data traffic wasting device...:-(
This is a 100% turnaround by BB...is there any solution for BB user who do not use enterprise solution?
Will you offer those basic settings on your Q10 and Z10 devices new operating software in the next update?
    This cannot be difficult!
Thanks for digging into this issue!
    best regards from Vienna,
    Rafael

i put that setting "automatic download" on OFF from the first day on...it does not make any difference.
Technical service line of my carrier in Austria (A1) told me, that this function IS ONLY AVAILABLE for BB enterprise solutions...not for "ordinary" POP accounts...
I want to give a better scope of what it means:
After 5 days of using the new Q10...my data consumption is over 450 MB! (only e mail)
Before is used up  less than 15 MB for an entire month!
Once it comes into ROAMING (important for business travellers) this is getting dramatic!
    ANOTHOR issue:
Try to send a picture taken with BB Q10...Settings only allow adjustment of aspect ratio....not size...if you send for instance 3 pictures as e mail attachement...your mail has 6 to 8 MB...considering you are "under Roaming" and pay 3 Euro per MB  (CHina) you just created an e-mail worth 20 Euro approx!  There is NOT ANY WAY to reduce the picture size (as EVERY other smartphone can do) or do decide to make a picture with lower resolution....
Frankly speaking it is totally nonsense to send such big files!  100 to 300 KB file size for jpg i totally enough to watch on screen...except you want to print posters...furthermore i force the receiving party to download hugh amounts of data...
the only winners in this game a carriers....because your billing will be HIGH...
I once again make the statement that BB changed from the MOST efficient work tool to the MOST UNEFFICENT smartphone i experienced....at least for somebody who is aware about data consumption and probably for every user who is travelling a lot internationally...
before i heard business partners arguing about their iphones and android phones that they create such high roaming bills...i was smiling at them with my BB...NOW with Q10 i am in an even worse position...as those users of iphone and android phones can select between automatic download, file size and same for taking pictures and sending pictures...
To answere another question....it does not make any difference...pdf, xls, doc, jpg...all is downloaded at once...(noticable also on the green check mark next to the attachement bar...)
PLEASE BB FIND AN UPDATE SOLUTION FOR THIS! i do not want my mobile phone bill more expansive than my entire  business trip!
