Size on the fly and gaps question
How do you get a width and height of something in pixels on the fly? I know you can use the ruler but it's a be tedious when you use it a lot. Is there something like the properties info in illustrator?
Second, is there a quick way to create even gaps to fill a space between objects that all have different widths? For example several texl labels and I want them to fill a 900 pixel gap. I alight one to the right and one to the left and then want to create even gaps between the rest. They are all different sizes so the align tools space them based on the center or sides and creates uneven gaps.
I have run this by several peopel with no avail.

The nearest thing would be the Info panel.
The Align tool in PS is a bit limited but there again it's a Photo Editor, not a layout program. Someone may know a way to do what you want but I use the correct program.

Okay, I've figured it out, so I'm going to answer my own question in hopes that it may help anyone else that would like to actually be able to see what they're doing when using Photoshop CC 2014 on a high resolution screen.
1. Open Photoshop.
2. Select Preferences from the Edit Menu, then select General.
3. Change the HUD Color Picker to Hue Strip (Medium).
4. Select Interface from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
5. Change the UI Font Size to Large in the Text area of the Preferences dialog box.
6. Select Experimental Features from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
7. Select Scale UI 200% for high-density displays (Windows only).
8. Click on OK, then Exit/Quit Photoshop.
9. Open Photoshop and everything should be readable. -

How can you change the font size in the application and system headers? I searched the system and finder prefs to no avail. Changing the screen density is not a good option.
ThanksI downloaded Tinkertool. Found the font section and increased the size of most selections. The only thing that changed that I can see is the window label. The apple line, bookmarks line, the tool bar in safari are all the same---font size of about 4. Found the finder "show view options" but that didn't seem to change anything either. I'll keep working. Restarted all apps after changes as well.

Is there a way to increase the font size for the "songs" and "artists" lists in the "music" app for iPad 2 (iOS 5)? It is smaller than the previous version.

It would depend on your definition of "Fix"
Your iPod touch running OS 4.2 has a ZOOM feature which will enable you to see the screen more clearly.
To turn Zoom on or off got to:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.

_Large Text_:
Large Text lets you make the text larger in alerts, and in Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and Notes. You can choose 20-point, 24-point, 32-point, 40-point, 48-point, or 56-point text.
Set the text size: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility, tap Large Text, then tap the text size you want.
I hope this has helped a little - other than this option I think it pretty much is what it is.
BTW - This information can be found on page 208 of the iPod Touch iOS 4.2 Users Guide.

I can not get a webpage to stay the size of the browser with out zooming in every time i go to a web page. With out zooming it just stay small with white on both sides. How do i get it to stay the size of the browser and stay that way Have no trouble with my internet explorer doing this on my new computer. or fire fox on my old computer.

I installed Adobe Web and Design Preium CS6 on windows 8.1, but when I open the program the size of the menus and tools are so tiny. It is not like that for Acrobat, but all the other programs. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks for the help. I installed CC and it fixed everything but Photoshop. I guess I will have to use my old laptop for images until Adobe fixes the problem. Do you know of a place where we can send issues like these to Adobe?

Beginner question about the size of the documents and fonts
I have worked with dps a couple of years now and now that Adobe removes Single Edition I have to look at other tools. EPUB3 fixed layout appears to be an alternative solution.
I've been reading up on the web and checked on Lynda courses, but there is one thing I wonder about.
How should I think about the size of the InDesign document and the size of the body text when I create a EPUB3 with fixed-layout?

AkeA couple things to keep in mind with EPUB3 Fixed Layout:
Unlike EPUB reflowable, FXL doesn't change size. You'll need to optimize your InDesign layout for the device most likely to view it—for example, an iPad, since it's the dominant device.
Like with DPS, you'll need to pick a font size larger than you'd use for print.
As with DPS, it's very important to do some tests on your target device to optimize both dimensions and font size.
Final Note: If you're in North America, this is a good time to buy an iPad since there are a lot of Black Friday sales coming up! -
Creating buttons on the fly and setting button properties
If I have a view and want to add buttons to it "on the fly" from values in an array, is that something straightforward to do?
I have an array of UIImageVIew objects and would like to create buttons from them (showing the image on the buttons) and associate those buttons with a method in my implementation file. That would be a lot more general and flexible than creating the buttons in the Interface Builder I would imagine.
And one more question - can I freely set button properties while doing that? Or in Objective-C can I only set properties that are already pre-defined for that class?

The syntax is still very mysterious to me, but I suppose eventually I'll understand what it all means.
Breaking it down to see what it means:
[button1 addTarget:self action:@selector(selectedHandler1:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
* button1 is the object I created (I'm going to try to do this in a loop next.)
* addTarget is a message I am sending to button1 and the content of the message is "self", which refers to - this button? I'm not sure why such a message would be necessary.
* action is another message sent to button1 and the contents of that message are a little harder to parse. I see the result, and can mimic the syntax now that I've seen it, but I don't really understand what the @ is for, or the : after the method name or why this wouldn't just be "action: selectedHandler". I'm sure the language designers have a logical reason for all that, but I don't quite "grok" those extra symbols yet.
* forControlEvents is another message sent to button1 and the event message itself is clear in its meaning.
Anyway, that is working and I can refer more to the UIButton class reference now and try to set more stuff, like position it better, etc.

How do you change the font size under the event and iphoto view photos?
I would like to change the font size in iPhoto under the photos that appear in the Events view and in the Photos view. I was told by a tech at Apple that it cannot be done because it is built into the software. What you see is what you get. That seems unusual because the font size in the Photo view is smaller than that in the Events view. The Font control that exists in File/Edit are for fonts used when you open a photo and add your own captionI and have nothing to do with the various views. Does anyone know a way to do this? Thanks
I'm afraid it really is WYSIWYG. It can't be changed. You can send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

I have an info cube, now to decide weather i need to make use of line item or high cardinality .....i need to check or compare the size of the dimension table along with the size of the fact table.
Where do i get this information.

For each infocube you will see Rows and ratio for all the dimension tables and Fact table.
Rows indicate the number of rows in that Dimension or Fact table.
Ratio indicates the number of rows in that table divided by number of rows in the fact table.
As a standard the ratio of rows in Dimension table to rows in fact table should not be more than 10%.
If it is more than you will see it in red colour in this report and you can think of redesigning that particular dimension.

I have tried to use File > Export to a folder on my Desk top to reduce the size of my photos and all I get is a blank, grey screen. How do I reduce the size of my pics so I can email them?
Where are you getting this screen? In iPhoto after selecting the File ➙ Export menu option? If that's the case try this:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/() Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences..
You can resize photos outside of iPhoto with 3rd party applications like Resize!.
