Size pictures in hd slideshow

Hi,
I would like to make a HD slideshow, which will be played on a big screen. I wonder what resolution I should make my photo's. I would like the photo's to be as sharp as possible. Could anyone advise me ?

Video is completely different from print. There are exact specifications for HD. Making your image 5000 pixels across will do nothing for you except making the compression process more complex and more likely to produce artifacts. The file size is not really relevant because it depends on the format. TIFF files are bigger than PNG, which are usually bigger than JPEG. HD frame resolution is all that matters. There are two standards essentially 1920x1080 and 1280x720. Of the four US networks two broadcast in one and two in the other. The size of the television is not relevant. If you want to do so-called Ken Burns effects you should probably make the images twice the HD screen resolution that you're using. In FCP set the spatial conform to none and use the effect so the image is never scaled beyond 115% of its full size. Using an image twice HD size should give you enough wiggle room. Remember video is not RAW. Its delivery formats are always compressed, often quite heavily, so a super-sharp image might not be a great benefit, and in fact a hindrance.

  • Photo Book - issue with generating full size picture in PDF file

    Need some assistance here.
I have created a photo book that I would like to order. In the middle of the book I have 2 pages that contain a full size picture on each of the pages. When I generate the PDF file one of these two pictures do not generate correctly leaving an incorrectly rendered rectangle in the bottom left hand corner. 80% of the time it is on of the 2 large 8x10 pictures, the other 20% it is the other 8x10 picture. Aperture does indicate the dpi is large enough to support a quality 8x10 photo.
I have exported jpeg files for each of these pictures and there were no problems. I am not sure by I have this problem in creating the PDF. Does any one see a potential issue with the book? When I order the photo book is it done through he PDF file or are the pictures sent in?
Because of the issue I am cautious to order the Photo Book, but would like to do so.
Any thought or feedback? Is this something that will come through as problem with the photo book as well?
    Thanks

    Hi ejg999,
I have a similar problem running 10.5.2/ Aperture 2.0 trial.
My 15800*4700 pixel (19.8mb) panorama was completely screwed up when printing the book to PDF. I did not span the pict over 2 pages as the center part would not be visible in the book's fold. I created 2 full size pages, resized the frames and adjusted their position.
The print just shows hundreds of small squares, some seem ok, some are blue, some are rendered partially. Totally unusable.
The physical memory was not the problem as I had at least 500mb free during the printing operation.
I printed the book twice: same problem. I thought shutting down Aperture would resolve the error. but all my pics were gone. And the Time Machine did not backup while Aperture was running (still a bug). Aaaaaarghhhh.
I managed to restore my work. I will try to create a smaller copy of the panorama and try to print.
BTW, what is the size of your photo creating the problems?
    regards
    FranzMacN

  • Mapviewer out-of-memory A3-size pictures

I'm getting a Java.lang.out-of-memory error when I try to generate a A3 size picture using 300 dpi. A4 size pictures with 300 dpi are no problem. This is with Mapviewer version 1012. I'm not getting this error on another PC with the Mapviewer version before 1012.
I tried to enlarge the cache size to 128 Mb but this doesn't help.

    More info:
The PC where the error occurs has Windows XP, 1 Gb memory and has an Oracle 9.2 database running. The other PC without the error has Windows 2000, 256 Mb memory but no Oracle database running.
    I use OC4J standalone on both PC's.

  • Picture Titles  in Slideshow, different from filenames

I want to add a different title to each picture in a slideshow, but don't want to use filenames for this purpose. How do I do that?
My filenames work fine for filing, but are not suitable for enhancing a slideshow.

I'm new to Lightroom, but am trying to set up my slideshow first session presentation. I want the filename to show with each slide for identification purposes. But, I can't seem to find where to turn the filename on/off. I'm sure it's a simple operation, but I sure can't find it at the moment!!!!
    Thanks,

  • How do I create a collage with original size pictures???

    Hi everyone,
I try to create a collage with aperture and orinal size pictures.
As soon as I try to print the collage, the quality is absolutely bad.
    Can anyone help me out?

Does anyone have any idea, what a app is to create collages?
Almost any graphics program or DTP program works.  Depends very much on how sophisticated you want to get.
You can put multiple images on a page, and even use alpha-channels and (iirc) opacity controls, using just Pages.
The point to note is that these are compositing actions.  Aperture is not a compositor (by design).  It stores and organizes your digital photos, and provides tools to make each photo as good as possible.  It does not allow you to combine Images, or add text or geometric primitives to Images (though you can do this with some plug-ins).

  • Pictures quality of slideshow

    Hi all
I have been trying to create a slideshow from my recent shooting using aperture 3, no matter what export format I chose, the quality of all the pictures in the slideshow dramatically decreases when playback from my iMac, even I chose the HD 1080p, the pictures turn out very blur.
I thought this maybe because I used raw format, then I exported the raw to jpg and created a separate project to hold all the jpg, and repeated the whole slideshow thing, I still got the same results. Does anyone have the same problem and know how to solve this?
One more question, I usually put raw and jpg into the same folder and then import into aperture 3, and I set raw as master. So, if i want to create slideshow out of these, which format is aperture gonna use for the slideshow, raw or jpg?
    Thanks
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
Welcome to the user-supported Aperture discussion forum. Have you read Apple's terms for using this handy website? http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa
I have been trying to create a slideshow from my recent shooting using aperture 3, no matter what export format I chose, the quality of all the pictures in the slideshow dramatically decreases when playback from my iMac, even I chose the HD 1080p, the pictures turn out very blur.
How are you exporting your slideshow? I'm not familiar with the functions to export a slideshow.
I thought this maybe because I used raw format, then I exported the raw to jpg and created a separate project to hold all the jpg, and repeated the whole slideshow thing, I still got the same results. Does anyone have the same problem and know how to solve this?
Are you indicating that you have RAW files in your Aperture library, and then you exported them to a temporary place as JPG, and then re-imported them as JPG into Aperture, and then recreated your slideshow using the "new" photos in your Aperture library? Your photos won't be blocky because they were generated from RAW in general. I'm not sure of your workflow here, though.
One more question, I usually put raw and jpg into the same folder and then import into aperture 3, and I set raw as master. So, if i want to create slideshow out of these, which format is aperture gonna use for the slideshow, raw or jpg?
It will use whatever photo you have chosen to be the master. If you are importing RAW and JPG together and they are stored together (based on your import options), you will see a little badge with an "R" or a "J" in the lower right corner of the picture. These badges mean that the RAW or JPG, respectively, of a RAW/JPG pair is being used as the master, and Aperture is storing and ignoring the other one, depending on your specific import option.

  • Choosing pictures in senseme slideshow.

How can I choose which pictures to show in senseme slideshow when using smartconnect. When daydream is inactive. Only pictures taken with the camera is shown. If I acticivate daydream all pictures in the picture folder show. I want to choose the pictures to be shown. Is this possible, if so, how do I do it?

I'd like to be able to disable the "SenseMe™ slideshow"
I don't like the fact that I can't control what images appear on the slideshow and some of the pictures I've received from MMS and other apps are pictures I don't want to appear on the slideshow
another post http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Z1s/Choosing-pictures-in-senseme-slideshow/m-p/434353 has confirmed pictures can't be selected for the "SenseMe™ slideshow"

  • Why don't pictures from a slideshow made in iPhoto and then burned on to a DVD in iDVD not use the full screen?

Why don't pictures from a slideshow made in iPhoto and then burned on to a DVD in iDVD not use the full screen?

All I want to do is send my family the pictures for them to be able to see them on most dvds and use manually control.
If you want set top DVD player playback, I suggest you create a a series of slideshows IN iDVD that each contain a MAXIMUM of 99 images. Do not create the slideshow in iPhoto or iMovie.
Is there an easier way to do this, bypassing iDVD?
Some DVD players will play a disc containing jpeg images

  • Why doesn't photobooth print passport size pictures

The photobooth name and icon both suggest it could be used to print passport size pictures. I don't understand why it doesn't. Or does it and I'm being really stupid. I know the dimensions are different to a passport picture but I've got a pair of scissors to solve that problem. If photobooth did this then it would be a really useful application and mean that I wouldn't have to walk up to the station in the rain everytime I want a passport photo.......... and I could have bulging eyes on my ID.
iphoto won't let you print passportsize pictures either.

    Operating system?
Does your printer support borderless printing?  Can you print a borderless print from another application?

  • F2480 will not print A4 size pictures,

My F2480 will not print A4 size pictures (210 x 295mm) the largest it will print is 200 x 265 mm Help needed please

    Hi,
I assume you are using a Photo Paper, Please clarify if I am wrong.
Be aware that while the Maximum size for plain paper is 210 x 297mm,
The largest supported Photo Paper is 203.2 x 254 mm, as you may find listed within the product specification's Paper Types and Sizes section:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01758526&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
Additionally, your printer support borderless printing up to 100 x 300 mm and not full A4 size
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.
If my post resolve your problem please mark it as an Accepted Solution

  • What controls the size of pictures in a slideshow?

On my MacBook the pictures are 2" wide.

    Lori,
The photos are being dragged from iPhoto with original files sizes of 3008x2000.
Maybe it was because I dragged an Event to the album instead of the individual photos. I'll have to try dragging the individual files over.
Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks, Todd
    EDIT:
*I looked in the image folder and there are four files:*
    DSC_5482.jpg
    micro.jpg
    mip.jpg
    thumb.jpg
*It does appear the slideshow is using the thumb.jpg.*
*Now how do I change it to show the original picture?*

  • Slideshow photo size in "My Album" slideshow

I recently created several albums in "My Albums" (love the look!), but I am puzzled at how small the photos are when I view them as a slideshow. They are approx. 1 3/4" x 1 1/2", compared to the slideshow in "My Gallery" where the photos about fill the screen. (And there those awful annoying shadows below each photo making my subjects looking like they are deformed with extra legs etc). Is there something that I am doing wrong? Did I miss something when I was setting up the pages/albums to make the slideshow photos different sizes? Right now the photos that appear in the album covers are even larger than those in the slideshow.

    Hi OT,
Thank you for your input. Before I read your reply last night, I went through some of your old postings and did find a couple resolutions. You replied to a post from snipa (Norway), Aug. 22, 08, subject: "Comments on web sits (sic) photo" - then Mermaid 1632 asked a similar question - she wrote Oct 14th. You replied telling Snipa and mermaid on how to add the comment button to a website. In that reply you showed a picture of the photo/slideshow inspector options. So I went to that setting in my iWeb And there I found that the setting for large photo in slideshow was not ticked. It also gave me an option to unclick that awful shadow option. So I went to one of my pages and did the clicking and unclicking. I thought that would solve my problem. The shadow option worked fine, but the option for large photo, even though it did enlarge the photo somewhat, it still was not the full screen size that it used to be. It is now approx. 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 - whereas last night when I wrote it was only 2 1/2 x 1 3/4.
You asked about my browser - I use Safari 3.2.1, and Firefox 3.0.5. I cleared the cache in both - that did not make a difference. I have a very old version of IE - so that would not even load the Gallery pages, so no point in even considering that browser. I had a friend with a PC and IE to check and she said that the photos in slideshow (that I had not changed) were still very small.
Let's say that I settle for the 4 x 3 inch photos in slideshow it looks like that I am going to have to edit each photo page and make those changes one at a time. What do you think? Is there any way I can make the same changes on all the photo pages in one editing, rather than doing one at a time?
I appreciate your help. That old posting gave me two great suggestions!

  • Help me with picture quality for slideshow.

Hi I'm David and I'm new to adobe elements and video editing and am trying the elements 9 trial.
I'm trying to learn the software and thought i'd start witha a slideshow vid with some holiday pics.
My first and biggest issue i've come across is the pictures quality is really lousy when i have added them to the video. even thought they are fairly fine 8 mp jpg pictures from my digital camera and looks nice when wieving them outside of elements. Why and how do i solve this?
Also i wonder if there is a way to preview the pictures in big size before ading them to the timeline?
Can i change the time lenght shown for many pictures at the same time instead of changing them one at a time?
Will really apreciate help on this matter.
    Thx!

Okey I thought that cs5 was the big really proffesional program.
I want to do much more than just slideshow but thought that would be an easy start and i had the fotage already.
I want with more features than moviemaker or similar but having to use another program to not get bad quality pics is not what i expected.
    I'll check your tutorials out.
    Thx

  • Amount of pictures allowed for slideshows?

Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone might be able to help me with my question. I'm thinking about buying photoshop elements 8. One of the main reasons is for slide show making. Does anyone know how many pictures can be downloaded per slideshow? Also, how many songs can be downloaded per slideshow. I've been using Photostory, and they only allow 300 pics max. I was just wondering if photoshop elements 8 allowed more?
Also, while I have you here, is this program good for slideshows, or would you reccomend a different program?
Thanks so much in advance for all of your help!
    Rich

I have used Photoshop Elements to make slideshows - but I would not say that it is good for making slide shows and I would not recommend purchasing it specifically for making slide shows.
-- I don't think there is a specific limit on the photos in a PSE slide show : however, many people do encounter effective limits based on the hardware and software configuration of their PC/laptop. There have many posts on these forums where people failed at 200 - 300 photos.
-- You did not say how you will use this slide show. You should be aware that if you wish to create a TV playable video DVD (MPEG2) you most probably will need to also purchase Adobe Premiere Elements.
I suggest that you also post your question on another forum like elementsvillage.com which has photo and slideshow discussions about software other than the Adobe products.  ProShow Gold is a product I have seen recommended and hopefully someone at elementsvillage forums can give you guidance . I suggest that you post in their General Elements Discussion subforum.

  • How do I re-size pictures taken with iP4 for email, they are WAY too big

They look great in iPhoto, nice and clear, especially the macro shots. However when I email a picture to a client the pictures literally fill up my entire 15" MBP screen and are so large they are fuzzy.
    Thanks a ton

I emailed the picture using my webmail hosted by iPage (non Apple host). But if I understand you correctly I can re-size the photo in iPhoto for future emails NOT using the iPhone OR if I want to send an email using the iPhone I can select a size option after?? selecting send? If after, hasn't the photo been sent already before re-sizing?
    Thanks for your help
