Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to reduce the resolution of photos in iphoto so that they're a smaller size without actually reducing the photos height and width?

Do you mean increase the jpeg compression? Select the file in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue
Kind: Jpeg
Jpeg Quality: Select from the drop down menu.

Slide size shrinks by itself

I have made a dozen or so presentations that I use a lot. I find sometimes that when I open a presentation I haven't used in a while that it has shrunk in size. The most recent one I used said that it was a custom size (720 x 540 I believe). I changed it back to a larger size and things rescaled fine.
My question is this. Is there a known bug where something causes slides to shrink? I would never use anything as small as a 800 x 600 or similar but I see small numbers like that showing up. Part of the problem is I don't see it happening. Could it be that connecting to a low resolution projector sets the size of the slide to a smaller value? Perhaps I inadvertently saved a file after presenting it. Any other ideas about what 'pilot error' I am performing? Perhaps this was an effect of a version change in Keynote where opening a file created with an earlier version causes this change?
Also, I will add that I have seen the problem described earlier where a slide will not scale back up after it has been set to a smaller size. Fortunately, I have not lost anything as I keep backups I can use in case a file gets corrupted like this.

Are you bringing in anything from a PowerPoint presentation?
Not sure what's causing it, but one thing you could do to try to highlight the problem is LOCK the file. This way, anytime you try to change it, you'll get a window popping up telling that you can't and that will help you determine at what point the file is being changed.
Save off an original and compare it after a few days to see what the differences are.

Why does the text size shrink when I make the window smaller?

I have some notes in a DOCX page. I don't want the entire page blocking up the desktop yet I want to see the notes. When I change the size of the page, the text shrinks too. How useless is that?
How to I keep the text normal size and have a smaller page?

When we I change the size of the page manually in Word 2013, the text won’t shrinks. I also resize the window via code below:

Problems in placing .jpg images - size shrinks

Hi,
I have been working with InDesign for years and this is the first time I encouterred the following problem. Currently I am creating an online document with InDesign CS5.5.
The problem is that when I place (ctrl + D) an image (.jpg), some of them seem to "shrink" from their original size and become totally pixelated.
My original image is 192 x 380 px and it was placed as 46.08 x 91.2 px
I don't understand what might be the problem. For some of my images it seems to do this and for some not. There are some images that I have previously placed succesfully and then these same images are now shrinked when I place them. Could this be a setting change? I have tried everything, but nothing seems to work.
Very puzzled.
Any suggentions?

A 192 x 380 pixel image scaled at 100% that also measures 192 x 380 pixels on the ID page has to have an actual resolution of 72ppi:
If the actual ppi is different (100 ppi below) and the scale is 100% then the ID object pixel width and height has to change:

CS5 - Image set at one size shrinks when dragged into another image?

I have Photoshop CS5 for Windows (just purchased this week). I am working on a school project in which I am editing an image and then dragging it into a calendar.
While working with the original image, I size it to 4.627"w X 4"h. Then when I go to drag it into the calendar layer, which is the same size, it shrinks drastically.
Why is this and how do I stop it?
For one image I was able to move it and it did not change size. But with all the others, I am having this shrinking problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The change in size is due to different resolutions.
You can set resolution in the Image > Image size dialog.

How to shrink document size to 20%(inculd all pageitems size shrink to 20%)?

I exproted xxx.indd to yyy.jep, then I found yyy.jep size is too big, almost have shrink to 20% to need my client requirement.
There is no any method allow to change JPG file szie while exproting.
the documnet size change only for PageHight and PageWide( Docment.DocumentPreferences.PageHeight & Document.DocumentPreferences.PageWidth) , but all pageitems did not change.
so, any ideas about this？

Actaully,I write a Delphi base Indesign CS4 automation program (like Vb script, Java script) to generate indd file.
The main function is plate many Name Card pdf file into a huge indd file automatically.
Recently, my client ask new function : export the indd file to JPG file, and the JPG file size only has 20% size of indd file has.
But, I do not have any idea to deal with this.
So, any suggestion?

Web Application Designer Charts size shrink

HI ,
We have recently upgraded our BW system from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 as a part of which we have upgraded our web templates in WAD 7.0 as well. Post this, the Charts that are available in the web templates have shrinked/reduced in size in the new system compared to the older system and the labels have got toppled. We have not done any changes on the web templates apart from opening and saving them in WAD 7.0.
Please advise.

Hi Subhash,
The migration of web templates from 3.x to 7.0 has one of these difficulties. We faced many such issues ourselves. Most web items like charts do not get migrated specially if they have been defined by some classes and parameters in 3.x.
The best solution in this case is to go to those web items and drag the required type of chart and assign the dataprovider to it. Also, to define the charts with specific propserties in case they were present in 3.x version.

Why does 4k "Set to Frame Size" shrink on playback ?

When I add 4k video to a 1080 timeline and shrink (scale) to 50% to make it fit, it fits perfectly when paused, but then plays back at half size within the 1080 program sequence window. I believe this is the preferred way to put 4k on a 1080 sequence but I am not sure why my playback shinks the size of the video further when I play it. Thanks for helping me understand what's going on here or if there is a better way to bring 4k into a 1080 sequence.

PR CC 2014.1. I just tested some GH4 4K (3840X2160) in a 1920X1080 sequence, scaling the 4K to 50%. Program monitor settings 1/4 and Full are okay, and 1/2 gives me constant jumps from full frame to a small box in the monitor. (Same whether playback and pause settings are matched or not.)
Removing the scale, gives the same type of effect. Stepping through frame by frame, I see that most frame are showing as full frame, then "zooming" in to the "regular condition" (no scale should display the too large 4K centered, right?).
Generating previews results in relatively smooth in all combinations.
Also, using the "scale to frame" results in smooth motion even if not rendered.
GH4 4K clips are 100Mbps recording. I suspected my system (just on my laptop) was not up to the task. But since unscaled is not the issue, I really don't know. I'll try to test this again on my PC at home tonight.

Image size shrinks

If I save an image to either my device or SD card, the image size gets reduced dramatically (for example, from 600 kb to 50kb). This happens whether I 1) save an image that was sent to me in a message or 2) save a photo that I took with the camera (for instance, if I save the image to give it a new name).
Is there a way for me to have the blackberry save the original image size?

It seems to happen when I am not using any tools. When I have a photo open for any purpose.
It occurs with no input. I fix it by zooming back to where I was.
I am not working with a tablet. I am not working with a mouse.
I will need to look up these preferences. I did not know they existed.

Why are my QT file sizes shrinking?

I'm using the copy/paste features of QuickTime to put together four small pieces of my movie into one big piece. I do this by opening up all four QT files and then copying the entire contents of each of the final three QT files and pasting them all, one at a time, end to end, into the first QT file.
Here's the situation: all four pieces are about 300mb each; yet when I save the master file, the result is usually around 300mb.
In other words, there seems to be some data DISAPPEARING in the process. But when I open up the resulting big file, full screen size, and compare it side by side, to the original files, I see no image quality lost. Frame for frame.
I've repeated this process several times. Same result.
How can 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 3 ?

PS the resulting file plays fine. The only reason I'm posting this "problem" is that I'm having repeated failure trying to upload my movie to IMDb's withoutabox website.

I guess this is a big "duh" for me. I actually had thought I had been toggling that choice all along, because, frankly, it's the ONLY choice that comes up when trying to save. But for whatever reason, the file hadn't been saving that way, as in self-contained.

FMB size shrinks dramatically

We recently made a modification to a Form which was about 6.4Mb in size. The change was the addition of a button, and about 25 lines of code (which includes the comments). The filesize dropped from 6.4Mb to 4.8 Mb.
We went back to the original *.fmb, and only added the 5 lines of comments, and the filesize droppped from 6.4Mb to 5.7Mb, then we made the button and code addition and the file stayed approximately the same size.
We're new to Forms, and we've started on the 10g version. Has anyone seen anything similar, and is there an explanation?

In forms you can reference code. You can reference program units and trigger code, from one form to another. Then when the source code is changed and the referenced form is recompiled the changes in the source is included into the referenced form. Forms allows you to change the referenced code. In fact there is no way to lock it. But once it is changed in the referenced form. Then the link back to the source object is broken and the code is no longer in synch after a recompile.
Now with this approach of doing the global replace ';' with ';' will update referenced source code, breaking the link. So for some people this can be a dangerous thing to do.
IMO you should avoid reference code. Just too easy to break the link.

Mail wont accept pictures full size, shrinks them all to 2x3

It also let me drag them into a stationery once, then wouln't text edit. If I did text first I could drag pictures in!
Frustrating... I finally made an evernote with fullsize pics and sent that out.

Are you using Stationary or just a plain email message?
Stationary has drop zones for pictures that set them to a specific size.
For normal email messages, with the picture selected, you can set the size in the bottom, right of the headers area, under the signature:

CBR file size shrinks

In compressor 2.3 when using cbr set at 8.3 it estimates my file size as 4.4gigs, but when it does all its magic my file size is 1.2 Gigs. HUH???
My only thought is that the video from FCP 5.1 is actually a series of pictures some of them up for a minute at a time. I know- this is not my typical project:)
my DVD looks good- not great. Any thoughts?

The argument you heard was probably more like "a smaller VBR file can have equivalent audio quality to a larger CBR file." This is because, as Chris notes, they spend more bits on the more sonically complex passages, and less on the sonically simple passages.
If you want to experiment, you can compare 192 w/ VBR (it's a custom setting) versus 256 w/ CBR. But, if you are shooting for a particular file size to save space, CBR will be more predictable.

How do I shrink a MS doc to a smaller page size, not just divide the document into a smaller size?

I am trying to shrink a microsoft word document from a standard page to a smaller, possibly half page, to create a printable reference booklet I plan on laminating but when I try to change the page to a different size, it doesn't shrink the document to that size, it just breaks that page into a bunch of smaller pages, breaking up whatever chart or words were on the page. Any insight?
Ex. I have a chart that looks like this on a standard letter size MS word doc page layout.
Header 1
Header 2
Header 3
Header 4
I want to change this so that is it on a landscape "half letter" MS word doc page size, shrinking the chart, and keeping it in tact.
When I change the page layout size, or try to copy paste to the above mentioned half letter doc size, the chart breaks up into multiple pieces, creating 3 or 4 "half letter" sizes, with only part of the chart on each.
Help MUCH appreciated!

You'll need to create a custom page size under "Page setup..." in Word. Word really isn't the best application for what you're trying to do, but a custom page size with custom margins should work.
EDIT: Oh, and you'll need to change the sizes on your table, obviously.
