Sizing for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management)
Hi All
We have to provide a server sizing to be used for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management) module which will be intergrated with SAP CRM and is to be used for call support. As far as we have reached, we require a Windows server and will host MS SQL database with an approx consumer data of 63 lacs consumers.
Please specify the sizing for this server
Thanks in advance
LokeshSorry, forgot to ask how much physical memory you have on each host.
Let's split it to 2 topics.
1. For ECC, since OracleDB and non-unicode page which are the 2 major factors won't be changed, so I would think here we could just do a math, as long as host A has enough memory which is allocated for Oracle and ECC (extended memory) on host B to be added up.
2. For EP, memory tuning size is basically the same for HP JDK and SUN JDK, that each server node is allocated approximately 2.5GB RAM. Besides, 0.8-1GB RAM needs to be left for OS kernel. But in your case, host B is currently holding 200 users which is a big jump for host A(note: only active user quantity matters here).
That's fine if main physical memory is a little short for host A, utilizing multiple less powerful servers as 2nd tier application server to do the load balancing is also a solution with lower TCO.

Network sizing for SAP printing
Dear all,
We are in the midst of sizing network bandwidth requirement for SAP implementation which involves some remote locations. Actually Iu2019ve gone through the documentation (Front-End Network Requirements for SAP Business Solutions), and found the way of calculating the network requirements based on number of users (C = N * D * X * 0.25 formula), however Iu2019m not sure if the formula does include the SAP printing bandwidth requirement. Appreciate if you can shed some lights on SAP printing network sizing guide or sort.
Best regards
RolandoThanks Susanne,
Understand we need to rely on the information on how much the printing requirement is to come up with the estimation on SAP printing bandwidth requirement.
Perhaps you have some experience on the size of 1 page of SAP printlist (plain text) ? Is it safe to have assumption that 1 page of print list would have 20-30 KB in size? And ones with pictures/logos are 100-200KB in size?
Best regards

HANA Sizing for Business Suite Systems (Compression)
Hi Experts-
We ran the HANA memory sizing for our ERP and SRM systems (both are on
NW 7.4, ECC is on EHP7 and SRM is on EHP3). We followed SAP Note "1872170 -
Suite on HANA memory sizing report" to complete this task.
We are little surprised by the results as we don't see much compression in the target data in HANA DB. I have attached the screen shot of a ECC system with the message which has the spool results. We are getting a difference of only about 100 GB from before in terms of size and compression. The original size of ECC system is 1.1 TB.
What is general compression achieved in Business Suite migration to HANA DB? (if anyone has done that so far).
-AmitAmit,
in this FAQ Sizing for SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA you can research more information about sizing.
In this FAQ is also a link to a HANA sizing white paper, which explains the results of the sizing reports.
thank you

Hi experts.
I need some help in a CLM project, I am using a CLM configuration guide but some doubts still exist, where can I find description of business processes for SP CLM?
What is the sequence configuration for SAP CLM after instalation?

JavierHello Javier,
how did you solve this? Because i have the configuration guide for Sourcing, but i guess that the configuration related to the RFx and Auctions are not done for CLM, could you help me sharing how you solve this?
Thank you very much for your post.

SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".
Short Text
User-based Hardware Sizing
Long Text
Dear SAP Support,
We would like to know the SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".
Our queries is
1. In "User-Based sizing", What we have to consider,
the number of users are calculated in the basis of
Concurrent users in the system in a given point of time
or
total number of users logged into the systems in the whole day?
We have referred the SAP document "Sizing SAP System" and the above
point are not clearly mentioned.
Regards,As the document says there are number of possible definitions for "users" in SAP context...
For understanding assume that no of users logged to the system they consume different resources / areas in the system, some login to the system whole day but they don't work whole day, some user open multiple session to work while other open multiple session but they don't exactly work on it which means (every new session consume memory/resources) like you said their are concurrent users wherein they work and consume resources (SAP WPs)
So before finalizing the sizing first compare the both reports (user based, thorhgput) and read the advantages and disadvantages for both. You can also consult with SAP / Account Manager to help you
as per SAP document there's no point in counting no of pc's, laptops to calculate no of users

Sizing for BI Accelerator now in SAP QuickSizer
Hello everyone,
the sizing is now available in the QuickSizer. http://service.sap.com/quicksizer > Create Project and select SAP NetWeaver BI. Click on the "Help" link on the top right-hand side of the screen to get more information on how to fill out the sizing for BI+BIA.
Most of the data is the same as for sizing BI. If you have done a BI sizing already you can copy and paste the values into a BI+BIA sizing. Please note that you have to create a new QuickSizer project. Otherwise the BIA options will not appear.
If you already have a BI system (loaded with data), then the program and method described in SAP note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/917803">917803</a> is recommended. It will take a while to run, but it is definitely more accurate than a QuickSizing.

SAP NetWeaver RIGMark, thank you for your prompt response, as always. My intention is not to push loaded indexes into 60% mark - but exactly the other way around:is 50% of free RAM enough or is it possible to do educated calculation of how much of free RAM (50%, or may be 60% or more) has to be left for both querying and indexing. My intention is exactly to prevent "out of memory" in the first place. Especially in global deployments, where indexing (for Asia) and querying (for America) might be happening at the same time.
Besides calculations I am looking as well for more information:
1/ 50% rule in heterogeneous environment - should 50% rule apply to each single blade or spread across all blades? In the latter scenario: if hypothetically we have 2 blades - 16GB and 48GB, should there be 8GB free on the first and 24GB on the second, or more like 12GB on first and 20GB on the second?
2/ How queries queuing mechanism in BWA works to prevent overloading from multiple queries fired simultaneously? How can we calculate maximum number of parallel queries?
Looking forward for your and your colleagues' comments. If you think I should start separate thread - please let me know.
Best regards,
-Vitaliy

CRM TPM Database Sizing for CRM and BW
All,
I am currently sizing for a TPM implementation and have a couple of questions concerning storage capacity for CRM and BW. I have reviewed and created an Excel spreadsheet based on the SAP Sizing Guide for CRM-TPM but I am coming up short in a couple areas.
Here is the document Link: [https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000711312004E]
1. Is there a storage sizing guide for BW or what has worked for the community to estimate?
2. Is the sizing guide for CRM/TPM correct (see below example)?
3. What has worked for CRM/TPM database sizing from the community?
I have a question about section 3.3.3 Disk Sizing in CRM. If the disk sizing is based on per promotion (for the condition generation process), why is there a multiplication factor for PARTNERS? I donu2019t believe we would have more than 1 or 2 partners per promotion.
I did some quick math with some example numbers and came up with about 2.9TB for the CRM database. See below for additional info based on the equation in section 3.3.3.
Part 1
20,000 Promotions
10 Products
1000 Partners
.87TB
Part 2
10,000 Promotions
47 Products
1000 Partners
2.04TB
Is this accurate for sizing the condition generation process for the CRM database? I am failing to understand why, for example, the 20,000 promotions would have 1,200 partners included in the base equation for each promotion.
I appreciate any time you could spend in responding to my question.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Proper server sizing for SPARC/Solaris to Intel/R migrations
Is there any collateral available concerning proper server sizing for customers migrating from SPARC/Solaris to Intel/RHEL? I was just asked by our account team that is working with a very large custormer in the pharma space.
My initial knee jerk was to refer them to the OEM but thought I'd look around in these forums first.
My searches have not returned any good results yet.Hi Mike
the public SAP SD-Benchmark homepage ([http://www.sap.com/benchmark/|http://www.sap.com/benchmark/] -> SD two-tier results) gives interesting but very indirect sizing hints. There are several SAP SD-Benchmarks on SPARC/Solaris. I picked some of them:
[2008075|http://download.sap.com/download.epd?context=B1FEF26EB0CC3466320983FEDBEB2A47615DC8F24866B0B6870E95AA3589B515566F7A57D98961BB]: 24650 SD-User w SAP ERP 6.0 (2005 Non-Unicode) on SPARC Enterprise Server M9000 (32CPUs)

You'll probably have the hardware setup of your customer together with the system utilization. Check it with the Solaris/SPARC benchmarks on the public page and check for Intel Benchmarks as well. Make sure, that the SAP release is the same (with 2009 a new SAP release is mandatory for benchmarks -> numbers are not comparable to 100%).
Thanks,

Sizing for NW2004s 7.0 App server
Hi All
This is regarding the sizing req's for SAP NW2004s (7.0) app server which is required for the installation of GTS. I am going through the req's for a new implementation of GTS 7.1 for a very small user group ( Less than 10) on AIX with Oracle.
I have been told that the initial estimates for the server HD size cam up to 75 gb each for the DEV and QA and this apparently includes the app+db.
I am not familiar with the quicksizer and someone else arrived at this number. I doubt that 75 gb for an ABAP+JAVA NW 7.0 install would be sufficient to house the db and app and am still reading through documentation to verify this.
Can someone who has gone through the NW app server installations clarify this and let me know if there is a breakup of file sizes for the Orcale and the SAP files for an NW 2004s app server install.
Thanks
VicWas this installation done on UNIX ?
: nope System that I tell you is windows.
Do you have any breakup for the SAP sytem and the Database files (sapdata and teh log files) ?
: BREAKUP ???? did you mean backup if "backup" is YES.
Does this account for the swap space and how RAM do you have on your system ?
: for RAM I have on my system is 9GB but I can install 3 instance(SID) and DB in one Server
maybe we can share Exp. in how to tuning for best performance next time -
Setting the default resolution for sap logon
Hi, ALL!
I'm terribly tired of SAP interface. It's so uncomfortable for work.
For example maybe you know khow to set the default resolution for sap logon to make it use its widgets of proper size. e.g. when i work with transfer rules, it has only half of screen for useful area (i use 1400x1050), and right part is just empty, but on the left very many small fields and you should constantly use scrollbars (i think you know it well). Maybe there is system customizing for this purpose.Hello Dmitry,
There is no customizing for this - atleast to my knowledge.
However, you should have to redo the settings again and again unless you are continuously re-sizing the main window.
Cheers
