  • Sizing Guideline for Sourcing 7.0

    Hello,
I have read the Sizing Guideline for Sourcing 7.0 in the Installation Guide. For a small installation (less than 50 concurrent users) SAP is recommending the following:
App Server - Quad Core Processor, 16 GB
DB Server - Quad Core Processor, 16 GB
Having done WAS JAVA sizing for quite sometime, I feel this is on a very higher side. In our implementation we will have max 10 concurrent users. So I feel the following should be good enough
App + DB Server - Dual Core Processor, 8 GB
As per my exp, 1core and 4GB will be for OS and DB, remaining 1core and 4 GB for 1 CE Server Node.
I request all the experienced people please suggest if this will work. If not please share some rational so that I can convince the customer rationally without saying thats minimum recommendation from SAP
    Regards,
    Jai

    Jai,
Optimizer can be on same server as of contract generation, CG use very little memory as its only service used to created document for CLM. but it should be on different server other than E-Sourcing server
E-Sourcing can work without optimizer also, Its is prefered where there are complex bid responses or large no of response are there.

  • Sizing Guidelines & HA on Prime Service Catalog

Any documentation on the sizing guidelines for small (< 100), medium (< 1000)  and large (> 1000) users accounts with 20%-40% concurrent user sessions environment ?
On the large deployment scenario, what is the HA setup recommendation ?

    Hi derevan007,
Could you please send me an example how this can be done? Also could you please tell me where we can get the TaskID?
I have tried this with an example service created. But when I hit the URL as you said I can see only a 500 error page on the browser. I have got the RequisitionEntryID by using the SOAP call getRequisitionStatus.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Guidelines for setting Application Module Pool Size Parameters?

Are there guidelines for setting the application module pool size parameters, such as initial pool size, maximum pool size, etc., based on the expected number of users or other factors? I've read the developer guide sections (ch 28-29), but still don't have a good feel for how to correctly set the optimal values for the pool configuration parameters? Even more importanty, how do I monitor the pool's efficiency during runtime to determine if the pooling parameters are configured correctly?
This will be critical to performance and scalability, so I'm looking for a way to get some visibility into how the pooling is working during production operation to assess whether there are bottlenecks/constraints/ineffeciencies?
Note I am using Tomcat as the java runtime container; ADF BC / JSF jdev 10.1.3.1
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

KUBA - were you able to resolve these issues and if so are there any lessons learned you can share?
I'm hoping someone from the ADF team can answer our original question including guidelines for setting pool parameters and how to monitor the pool's performance while running in production.
    thanks

  • Best Practises and Guidelines for SharePoint 2013 Development

Currently We are using SharePoint 2010 and doing a lot of enhancement and customization in the portal.
we are planning to migrate SharePoint 2013 after 6-9 months.
I want to know what are the best practices and guidelines for development in SharePoint 2010 keeping one thing in mind that customization should be compatible or can easily migrate to SharePoint 2013 so that re-engineering effort would be as minimum
    as possible.
We have every possible piece of customization in SharePoint 2010 portal like web part, event receivers, workflows, master page, page layout, custom search etc.
    Please do the needful.

Best practices don't really apply here. They are generally rules of thumb that you can apply without thinking too much and be pretty much right. Development is by it's nature too varied to allow that sort of best practice guidance.
Having said that the main thing you should be concerned with around the choice of development approach in 2013 is the intended future of your client and the application. If they are making a move to the cloud you should be concentrating on the app model
and rapidly phasing out farm solutions. If they are considering it then you can still consider using the more old-school options of farm solutions and sandboxed solutions. If they can't go to the cloud because of data security etc. then you are more or less
free to use what you like.
Also, try to move to client side processing wherever possible. MS are only going to make server side work less pleasant in future.
Beyond that, get to some conferences and start chewing through some of the blogs on the topic.

  • Sizing Impact for Trex and user defined Message search

    Hi All,
In PI 7.1 we have content base search in nwapi and also we have trex based earch. Do any one have any idea about the sizing impact for the both...?
    Regards
    Pradeep P N

    Hi.
    From SAP Note.  1600078
    Solution
Most problems occur because you use the communication components or partners as the filter criteria in the filter even though you want the system to index only certain interfaces. In this situation, you must always set the components or partners to "*".
If you specify components or partners, you must consider how indexing of messages runs technically. If indexing is called at runtime, the system executes it at the start of the Integration Engine and at the end of the Integration Engine; this means that the value that the components or partners have at this point is definitive. For example, if you have defined a receiving component, this is not set at the start of the Integration Engine (except in special cases) and this is why the filter does not select the message. It also has no effect at the end because the message contains the receiving interface after the mapping. If you call the test function of transaction SXMS_LMS_CONF, the filter is used on each individual persistent version of the message (the same process as when indexing via a job). If the message is made persistent directly before the mapping, the sender interface exists there and the receiving component or partner is set. Therefore, the filter described above would be active here. As a result, this function is better defined to check the XPath than the filter criteria.
Check if you put  * in the receiver component.
    Regards
    Lucho.

  • Is same OS for CE7.1 and NWDI of 2004s possible?

    Dear Sirs,
Now I'm using CE7.1 Dev Edition as an evaluation and considering to use NWDI for Team Development after staring  development phase.
Is it possible that I install CE7.1 and NWDI of 2004s into same server? (I want to have two different vesion of AS Java instances in one OS)
If there are any recommendation, pls tell me.
As far as I searched, I couldn't find out the document about system landscape like best practice.
    TnR
    Shingo

    Hi Shingo,
You can install NWDI 2004s and CE 7.1 in the same OS.
Up to NW CE 7.1 SP3 no NWDI servers are part of the NW CE shipment (since SP4, SP5, … will contain corrections only this applies to all upcoming SPs for NW CE 7.1 as well). If you want to use NWDI for development targeting NW CE 7.1 you could use a NW 2004s installation of usage type DI – starting with NW2004s SP 13 this is fully functional. With NW2004s SP level < 13 NWDI can also be used for CE development but the automatic deployment targeting a CE runtime does not work – this works only starting with SP 13.
With NW CE 7.1.1 NWDI servers will become part of the NW CE shipment.
    Hope this helps you.
    regards

  • Guidelines for SGA and PGA tuning for 10gR2 RAC and ASM ?

I am looking for tuning information on SGA and PGA tuning for Oracle 10g (10.2) RAC and ASM for a 4TB OLTP and DSS mixed environment on Solaris 10 platform.

We are running Solaris 10 SPARC 64 bit with Oracle 10gR2 RAC Enterprise Edition and ASM on Sun servers with 32GB of RAM for memory for a 4TB OLTP database.
It is in design phase so I do not have an existing AWR or Statspack report yet. Is there a best practices guideline on how to size parameters for the SGA (ie: shared_pool_size, etc) and PGA for this environment from Oracle?

  • Managing variable sized items for planning and purchase

    Dear All,
We have the following situation, kindly help in resolving the same:
Some of the raw materials are variable sized (for example plates). These items come in the Semi-finished/finished BOM as Raw Materials. Now whenver the requirement for SFG/FG is there MRP creates requirement for the variable sized items as well.
We have defined the unit of measure for variable sized items as M2 (meter square). Stock for these items display total area present in the Storage Location. Since these items are cut and used it might be possible that the requirement generated by MRP can be theoretically satisfied against the available stock but cant be practically satisfied against the actual physical stock.
For example in stock we have a sheet of 4m X 5m = 20 M2. The requirement from MRP comes to be 10 M2 but with dimensions 1mX10M. The stock shows available qtty as 20M2, required qtty as 10M2 and hence No PR is generated. But in actual we need to create a PR as dimensions are different.
So to manage this we are giving MRP type of raw materials as ND (No planning). Therefore the system is not creating any PR (even if requirements exceed available stock) it only creates DepReq for the RM. Now we create manual PRs after studying the DepReq. But it seems that it is easy to loose track and difficult to know that for which DepReq the PRs are already created.
Is there any way to relate the manual PRs to the DepReq created by MRP?
If yes, then whenever DepReq will be converted to OrdRes will the above relation still be valid?
Is there any other way of resolving/mapping the above scenario?
    Thanks
    Vineet

We cant maintain separate material codes as the sheet required varies in size and shape. Right now I have come up with the following solution:
    1. SAP: Materials which are variable sized will have MRP Type: ND (No Planning)
    2. SAP: These items will be in the BOM of FG/SFG with their dimension details
    3. SAP: The requirements for the Variable Sized items will be created by the MRP although no planning will be done, i.e.  Dependent Requirement against sales order(through FG/SFG) will be created but no PRs/Planned Orders will be generated for these items
    4. SAP: List of Requirements in the form of Dependent Requirements and Order reservations can be seen through T-Code MD04.
    5. MANUAL: Manual PR is to be created against dependent requirements after checking the quantity and dimensions of the stocks available.
    6. MANUAL: Maintain an excel sheet to record the materials and PR numbers created for them with quantity and dimensions. Also keep a record of sales order number from which the requirement has come. Sales order number for a requirement can be viewed through the MD04 T-Code itself. Also the dimensions required can be easily seen by navigating from MD04 to the corresponding production order component list. (Instead of Excel an SAP Table can be developed to maintain the data, the only advantage would be central maintenance of data)
    7. For PRs created manually above dimensions will be  manually entered in PR as "PO Text".
    8. Whenver PRs are created manually the records maintained in point number 6 will have to be checked to avoid duplication of creation of PRs
    9. A separate column in excel sheet (refer point 6) can be maintained for the POs created against each PR.
Dependent requirements will automatically be converted to Order Reservations in MD04 view once the Planned order of assembly is converted to a Production Order.
    10. Order reservations will automatically be removed from MD04 view once the GI of variable sized material is done to Production Orders.
Do we have a better alternative to this?
    Thanks
    Geravine

  • Creating XI Roles for CMS and NWDI on seperate J2EE server

We are going through the "How to Transport XI Content Using CMS" Guide.  We are runnning CMS and NWDI on a seperate J2EE server.
It's not clear from the guide what we need to do on the J2EE side in terms of the user and roles.  The guide mostly details setting up CMS/NWDI on the same box as XI.  So we created the XIDIRUSER and XIREPUSER on the seperate J2EE server.  We add these users to the SAP_CMS_ADMISTRATOR role/group.
    Questions -
    - Do we need to create any XI specific profiles/roles on the server - or is that applicable only to CMS running on the XI box?
    - Are there any things that we need to keep in mind that is not in the guide when we are setting this up.
If you have a similar landscape (with CMS and NWDI) on a seperate server, I would like to know how you set this up.
    Thanks for your help.

    any progress?
on your environment, have U installed DEV, CONS, PRD?
i will be trying to set DEV and PRD, so i am not clear from guide weather it is possible or not.
and do i register J2EE on JDI BOX to SLD on same box?
or only register J2EE on JDI box to centeral SLD box via data supplier on J2EE engine on JDI box
    so here are some questions i am not clear;
    1. JDI server should be registered to SLD on same JDI BOX? or centeral SLD we are currently using?
    or both?
    2. according to Guide, they provide to make a domain or track DEV,CONS,PRD, but we will have DEV,PRD. so is it possible to configure CMS?
    thanks in advance
