  • Sizing for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management)

    Hi All
We have to provide a server sizing to be used for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management) module which will be intergrated with SAP CRM and is to be used for call support. As far as we have reached, we require a Windows server and will host MS SQL database with an approx consumer data of 63 lacs consumers.
Please specify the sizing for this server
    Thanks in advance
    Lokesh

Sorry, forgot to ask how much physical memory you have on each host.
Let's split it to 2 topics.
    1. For ECC, since OracleDB and non-unicode page which are the 2 major factors won't be changed, so I would think here we could just do a math, as long as host A has enough memory which is allocated for Oracle and ECC (extended memory) on host B to be added up.
    2. For EP, memory tuning size is basically the same for HP JDK and SUN JDK, that each server node is allocated approximately 2.5GB RAM. Besides, 0.8-1GB RAM needs to be left for OS kernel. But in your case, host B is currently holding 200 users which is a big jump for host A(note: only active user quantity matters here).
That's fine if main physical memory is a little short for host A, utilizing multiple less powerful servers as 2nd tier application server to do the load balancing is also a solution with lower TCO.

  • Network sizing for SAP printing

    Dear all,
We are in the midst of sizing network bandwidth requirement for SAP implementation which involves some remote locations. Actually Iu2019ve gone through the documentation (Front-End Network Requirements for SAP Business Solutions), and found the way of calculating the network requirements based on number of users (C = N * D * X * 0.25 formula), however Iu2019m not sure if the formula does include the SAP printing bandwidth requirement. Appreciate if you can shed some lights on SAP printing network sizing guide or sort.
    Best regards
    Rolando

    Thanks Susanne,
Understand we need to rely on the information on how much the printing requirement is to come up with the estimation on SAP printing bandwidth requirement.
Perhaps you have some experience on the size of 1 page of SAP printlist (plain text) ? Is it safe to have assumption that 1 page of print list would have 20-30 KB in size? And ones with pictures/logos are 100-200KB in size?
    Best regards

  • Some Doubts on SAP Sizing.

    Hi Experts,
I am doing sizing for SAP SRM 7.02 server for 25 users concurrent users.
I have entered the following details in the quicksizer tool. I have entered 25 in Medium activity users.
    Following results are displayed.
So please tell me the inputs are correct in quicksizer or not? correct me if I am wrong.
In the result it shows 2000 SAPS (Total CPU requirement in SAPS), so please let me know what 2000 SAPS is?
In next screen it shows 500 DB SAPS, here also I am confused.
Please anyone explain me the result, I am newbie in quicksizer and need your help.
    Regards,
    Amit.

    Hello Amit,
there is no right or wrong input in Quick Sizer. It must reflect the business of your company, You have entered 25 medium activity users. This means that these concurrently active users are working with a think time of 60 seconds. Does it make sense? In parallel you could also enter the throughput questionaire. Basically, you have to enter the number of SRM orders that are being processed in a defined period of time.
Of course it's sometimes difficult to find accurate numbers. But you have to come up with some good assumptions and ask the right people in the company (not only IT department but also someone from the application team). It's absultely crucial to work hand in hand with the right people.
Please have also a look into our sizing materials at www.service.sap.com/sizing where sizing problems are being discussed and where you find pretty good sizing materials.
SAPS is a hardware-independent unit which describes the power of the hardware:  http://global.sap.com/campaigns/benchmark/measuring.epx
Once you have figured out the SAPS requirements you can have a look at www.sap.com/benchmarks --> two-tier benchmarks to find sample configurations which fits to your sizing result.
    I hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Sebastian

  • SAP sizing on UCS

We are in the process of putting documentation together for sizing an SAP environment running on UCS. Our initial documentation looks to equate the SAP benchmark (SAPS) with blade/chassis sizing for UCS. When working with other hardware vendors, we usually provide them with the SAP Quicksizer output (SAPS) and they provide us with initial CPU/memory/server model information.
Has anyone worked with Cisco on an SAP sizing exercise or can anyone point me to documentation provided by Cisco on how to size SAP on UCS?
    Thanks.
    Matthew

    Hello Matthew,
    1) Cisco do not do sizing. Cisco create architecture, when a SAP partner, SAP  consultant or SAP provide the requirements in terms of SAPS (the "horsepower" of  a server).
    2) Reach out to a Cisco person supporting SAP opportunities in your country.
    3) You can locate CISCO partner for your country at following link
    http://tools.cisco.com/WWChannels/LOCATR/openBasicSearch.do
    I hope this will help

  • Web AS 640 JAVA Sizing Info

    howdy folks,
anybody know where i can find some info on how to create a sizing for webas 640 for Java ?
Thanks in Advance to all you geeks and geekets out there,
    peace,
    Guy Barros

The Web AS itself is a platform, which can run different applications.
As correctly mentioned in the previous answer, sizing for SAP applications, such as EP, BW, XI and many others, delivered on top of Web AS could be found at http://service.sap.com/sizing .
If you are developing java application on top of Web AS, you have to do performance measurements for CPU , Memory, Network and Disk I/O for your own application and then extrapolate the numbers for given number of concurrent users or data volumes.
    The document

describes the detailed procedure on how to prepare the so called "expert sizing".

  • HANA Sizing for Business Suite Systems (Compression)

    Hi Experts-
We ran the HANA memory sizing for our ERP and SRM systems (both are on
NW 7.4, ECC is on EHP7 and SRM is on EHP3). We followed SAP Note "1872170 -
Suite on HANA memory sizing report" to complete this task.
We are little surprised by the results as we don't see much compression in the target data in HANA DB. I have attached the screen shot of a ECC system with the message which has the spool results. We are getting a difference of only about 100 GB from before in terms of size and compression. The original size of ECC system is 1.1 TB.
What is general compression achieved in Business Suite migration to HANA DB? (if anyone has done that so far).
    -Amit

    Amit,
in this FAQ  Sizing for SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA you can research more information about sizing.
In this FAQ is also a link to a HANA sizing white paper, which explains the results of the sizing reports.
