Sizing Requirement

For sizing requirements, I need to find out the rowcount of certains heavy Cubes. When I try to find the rowcount using LISTCUBE these heavy Cubes give timeout dumps. Any other way I can find the rowcount.. I can not execute in back ground as it doesn't allow me to!
Thanks in advance.

Hi KBWUSER,
You can find out the size of the F table for your cubes in SE16 > /BIC/Fyrcubename. Click the Number of Entries button, or simply Ctrl+F7.
Hope this helps...

  • Essbase Sizing Requirements

    Hi,
There is a requirement just arised on the Essbase Infrastructure sizing. version is 11.1.2.1. Application development is still in progress in DEV environment and this has to be migrated in Pre-PROD and PROD environments by June month end.
Outline size is approximately around 1 GB and the data size is around 150 GB. Can you advise how much RAM & Disk space needs to be procured for such application and how many CPU Cycles per server should have?
Please share, any other parameters that helps to estimate the hardware sizing will be of great help in this regard.
    Thanks
    UB.

    Hi,
From below document search for Server Disk Space and RAM you will find necessary information.

  • Trying to understand blocksize and the correct sizing requirements..

I'm getting the following error after migrating a cube from a 9.3 environment to an 11 environment while running a calc script - which by the way works fine in 9.3 with identical cache settings.
Error: 1012704 Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [2] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
When applying the following formula to our environment I get 122.84 Allocateable blocks, if my math is correct. The error is stating "[2] ESM" blocks so I must be doing something wrong?
    Data Cache in K
______________ = Number of blocks that can be allocated
    Block Size in K
    block size     1651392/1024=1612.6875
    Cache     198107
    # of allocateable blocks     122.8427702
The settings from our config file are as follows:
    CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH 5500
    CALCLOCKBLOCKDEFAULT 3500
    CALCLOCKBLOCKLOW 100
    CalcCacheHigh 199229440
    CalcCacheDefault 104857600
    CalcCacheLow 52428800
So what am I missing here, why the [2] ESM error? Is that a bogus error for a problem with the calc script I'm trying to run?
    Thanks for your help.
    Adam,

OK, so even though I "thought" the setting survived a server restart I wen ahead and stopped and started the database and the settings applied and all seems to be good.
    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Hardware Sizing requirement

    hi,
We are in the process of procurring Solaris Hardware to install Sun Directory Server 6.3.1. The number of users on our existing Sun DS 5.2 is roughly 200K and the Sun DS 5.2 is running on SunFire v125. We want to procure the next class of Sun Solaris Hardware for Sun DS 6.3.1 version. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
    Ramnath

The M4000 boxes are fine. 200K entries is not that big a database. It's best you contact Sun so someone can visit your workplace and discuss all options.

  • Server Sizing Tool

Oracle used to have a nice spreadsheet where you could fill in all the information on the size of the data and the number and type of users and it would suggest server configurations. We are planning on upgrading from 8i to 10g with a new server and I can't find the spreadsheet (if it still exists) on the oracle site. Does anyone know where it is located or know of a similar tool? I have sized servers before, but I have no experience with Oracle 10G sizing requirements.

I don't know about any tool, but you can analyze this factors:
    - SSL decrease your performance on about 1/3
    - Concurrent users and bandwidth you have
    - Database Server machine may be at minimun 2x the App Server
    - For WLS 8.1 and JDK 1.4 or higher, 1 GB RAM
    - Disk space for applications ( If your apps are disk intensive you must use Ultra SCSI II).

  • Hardware requirement for R12 up-grade

    Dear All,
We are going to upgrade from EBS 11.5.9 to R12 on Linux environment. Currently we are working on hardware requirement for R12.
1-How can we calculate sizing requirement in context of R12.
    2-CPU capacity including RAM required
Or any other best procedure, we can follow to recommend new hardware.
    Best regards,
    Kashif

And do a thourogh testing including istore and other self service web applications before going for production. May be think of renting out of hardware or hosting option. This will give you complete idea regarding performance of R12

  • Apache Server Sizing and Web Dispatcher filtering

    Hi,
We are planning to expose our intranet portal for internet user. An internet user would access it via browser (https) -> Apache - reverse proxy (outer DMZ) -> Web Dispatcher - Load Balancing (Inner DMZ) -> Portal.
We are looking for end-to-end SSL implementation.
    My questions:
1] Do we need to have load balancing at apache server for performing reverse proxy? If yes, how it would be achieved?
2] What is the hardware sizing required for Apache server on Linux box?
3] Does the portal performance is affected by end-to-end SSL implementation?
4] In load balancing using Web Dispatcher, can we forward particular request to a specific application server? Like, filter out the internet requests or forward BI related requests to a specific application server node.
    Regards,
    Sham

    Hi,
    1) Depends on your requirement. When you have 1 Apache RP and 1 SAP Web Dispatcher, you won't need load balancing of at the Apache.
    2) Depends on the number of concurrent requests you are expecting. More information on that can be found at apache.org
    3) Portal performance gets affected when using SSL and the portal is responsible for the SSL (there are product out there that do the SSL handling). How much the SSL will affect your portal depends on the number of users. But generally the impact of SSL isn't really high with recent hardware, the portal will be more occupied with the number of users, navigation, etc than with SSL
    4) You can use logon groups to assign a specific user (group) to a dedicated server

  • NPS Server Sizing - Millions of Connections

    Hello --
I am looking for server sizing requirements for the NPS server which could potentially serve millions of devices.
I've seen the previous post related to sizing found here:  https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/a4b21739-1416-416f-80d1-434e03e86434/sizing-reccomendations-for-nps
Any recommendations or documents you can provide would be helpful.
    Thank You!

    Hi,
Based on your description, you would like to find related documents about how many clients one NPS server can serve or how many authentication requests one NPS server can process.
As far as I know, there is no similar document from Microsoft about this.
Greg’s post gave detailed information about this issue. And the article which Greg provided
Best Practices for NPS(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771746(v=WS.10).aspx ) is a good reference about NPS.
In this article, it mentions some best practices about using NPS in large organizations. Such as, if NPS server receive a very large number of authentication requests per
second, we can improve performance by increasing the number of concurrent authentications between NPS and the DC.
    Best Regards,
    Tina

  • SAP Archiving Sizing

    Hello,
I am attempting to determine the sizing requirements for the native SAP data archiving capability. I realize that sizing requirements are dependent upon an upfront analysis of the potential archiving objects, however, I'm simply trying to get an idea for planning purposes. At this point we are only looking at native SAP functionality and not 3rd party tools or storage. I would like to know how CPU and RAM will be affected when reporting runs are executed on archived objects. There are no sizing algorithms or documentation specific to archiving that I have been able find online.
    Thanks.

    Hi Christopher,
Do you have an oss id?  If so, there is a document out on www.service.sap.com/ilm titled "Performance Aspects of Data Archiving".  This document is located if you scroll down within the "News" box in the upper right hand corner.
This white paper discusses the relationship between data archiving and system performance. It demonstrates under which circumstances data archiving can help improve the performance of a system, and which concrete steps must be taken to achieve this goal.
    Hope this helps.

  • Estimation for database sizing

    Hi,
I am looking for ways to arrive at estimate/calculate database size for our application. These are the details in brief.
All the tables are created under a user. The user is associated to a single tablespace.
Two kinds of data are stored. Config data and run time data.
Config data is stored in variants of varchar and clob. Run time data is stored in columns of datatype number(10).
Run time data is retained for specific period and then it is purged. Based on the deployment, the number of run time data points vary.
I am looking for something like this. Based on the number of data points collected, i want to arrive at the sizing requirements like require so much free space on the disk.
Can someone tell me where all the storage is taken up and how much. Some thing like
How much space is taken up by Number(10). How much additional storage is taken up by an index on a table, a primary key.
Does addtional storage need to be added for each table, view.
Which objects that are created and how much storage is allocated for it physically.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Krishna
