Sizing Tool - Disks

The sizing tool for SCOM 2012 states the following for a 500 Windows Computers and 100 Network Devices scenario:
Role:  Operations Database Server, Operations Data Warehouse Server, Web Console Server & SQL Server Reporting Services Server
Hardware:
• 10 disk RAID 10 (Data) (300 GB)
• 2 disk RAID 1 (Log)
• 16 GB RAM
• 4 Cores
Why 10 disks of 300 GB RAID10? This will provide 1500 GB, but there is only about 480 GB needed for the OpsMgr and DW together according to the sizing tool (check below):

Am I missing something here?

Hi Chris,
The number of disks required is performance related rather than available storage, if there are more spindles then this will allow the striped data to be written quicker (i.e greater IOPS). Obviously the number of IOPS will be dependent upon the storage
you're using and if it's shared, etc.
Hope this helps

  • UC Sizing Tool x64

Forgive me if there is another post about this, but i could not find it.  I am running Windows 8 x64 with Office 2013 x64.  When i download the excel for the UC Sizing tool at http://tools.cisco.com/cucst/faces/landing.jsp and load it, i get a warning windows that states "Application's launch was blocked by another program."  I am only running Windows Defender and no notifications pop-up showing that there are hits to security on this.  i am a local administrator on my computer, but i don't know what might be happening.  Has another else expirenced this?  If this program cannot run on x64 windows or office, is there a work-around?
    Thanks,
    Kenneth

Downgrading to Office x86 worked.  I guess there really isn't that much use for x64 Office.  I had the same issue as you with the BAT spreadsheet.  Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Sizing Tool for Journaling

I have been looking for a tool to help guide with determining a reasonable amount of free space needed to begin Journaling mail messages. I have performed the standard math assumptions like:
Internal Mail a day + External Mail a day then multiplying that by 365 to get have a guess at how much space is needed for a years worth of mail, then multiplying that by the number of years it needs to be kept.
From most threads I have found, this seems to be the way most folks are handling the "Planning" of journaling. Does Microsoft have a sizing tool similar to Symantec's Enterprise Vault? Or is this the best practice for determining the size of your
Mailbox/Mailbox Databases? Judging from others research, I have not found a way to even put a number on how much internal to internal mail is being sent a day. Our message hygiene system however has a weekly report that shows how much data is going in and
out everyday. But if I go with exact external data and guessed internal data, I feel the numbers will either be to high or too low.
Math Example: 5GB/week external to internal and internal to external, 10GB S.W.A.G/internal to internal for 15GB/week total.
    15GB/week x52 weeks in a year=780GB/year x 5 year retention plan=3900GB
Any input or feedback is greatly appreciated, once again not looking for someone to calculate the solution for me, just to guide me in the right direction for this.
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • Does the Cisco Unified Communications Sizing Tool 8.5(3) work for you ?

The previous version of this sizing tool worked just fine thank you very much, but now when I fire it up, it says it has expired and I should upgrade to the nice shiny new one. So I downloaded the new tool from
    http://tools.cisco.com/cucst/faces/landing.jsp
and installed it, but when it runs it displays an Excel error and dies. Don't you love those sorts of circles?
I am on Windows 7 64-bit with Excel 2010 32-bit - a compatible combination, according to the release notes.
    Any ideas?

    Geoff

It's got to be something with you excel security settings.
I am sure you are absolutely correct. I just installed it on a colleague's computer (he works for a different company so his Excel does not have the same settings as mine, which comes from the HP corporate load).
I've played with quite a few different settings in the Trust Center but haven't cracked it yet.

  • Sizing Tool

    I am at the initial stages of making a sizing tool;
i hav writtn a code to get the numbr of records (delta/full) for all the target infocubes for a particular period so far...
but it is getting very cumbersome.
are there any standard code available, or can any one contribute to ease the load a bit?

    Hello,
if you need to knwo wht is the size of ICs and other targets u can use DB02 to find that out.
else u can use FMs like RSDU_INFOCUBE_TABLE_SIZES,
    RSDU_INFOCUBE_TABLE_SIZES_INF

  • CS 4 InDesign Page sizing tool

I found a post about this a week ago but lost it. CS 4 got rid of the easy page sizing tool so I could click on 100% or 75% or whatever and easily shift sizes of my pages in the work area.
Apparently there is some new (application) tool on the tool box but I could not find it.
    Thanks for any help.

Hi. I am looking on the tool bar on the top and on the side. I cannot find anything that will allow me to size my page up or down as I am working. So far I have to go to the magnifying tool and use that to work. There is something on the top bar with a white x in a grey square box that has some sizes but it doesn't do a thing so I don't know what that is. I wish they hadn't removed this for CS4.

  • SAP Sizing Tool

Is there a simple and easy way to effectively size MII for distribution?  I understand there is a sizing tool that SAP provides, but I have never found someone either on the SAP side or a client that has effectively sized their layout for MII.  Does anyone have a guideline document that could state...
0 - 9,999 data transactions per hour, you need xx RAM, xx hard drive, xx bandwidth
10,000 - 99,999 data transactions per hour, you need xx RAM, xx hard drive, xx bandwidth
100,000 + data transactions per hour, you need xx RAM, xx hard drive, xx bandwidth
I would build this document and share, but my experience has been more gut triggered and I shoot high to make sure I have enough room, but as I begin to talk to clients that are asking for much larger enterprise, I see it is hard to gauge how much they need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Your question is basically talks about MII Architecture .it is available sizing questioner in service market place.
document is set of questions like data load between shop floor and ECC per min/hour.based on this you have to calculate RAM size(Server sizing). It depends on Plant load and number of users.

  • Server Sizing Tool

Oracle used to have a nice spreadsheet where you could fill in all the information on the size of the data and the number and type of users and it would suggest server configurations. We are planning on upgrading from 8i to 10g with a new server and I can't find the spreadsheet (if it still exists) on the oracle site. Does anyone know where it is located or know of a similar tool? I have sized servers before, but I have no experience with Oracle 10G sizing requirements.

I don't know about any tool, but you can analyze this factors:
    - SSL decrease your performance on about 1/3
    - Concurrent users and bandwidth you have
    - Database Server machine may be at minimun 2x the App Server
    - For WLS 8.1 and JDK 1.4 or higher, 1 GB RAM
    - Disk space for applications ( If your apps are disk intensive you must use Ultra SCSI II).

According to the Tech Tool disc that came with AppleCare for my Macbook Pro, holding 'c' is how you boot from the disk. It does not, the machine boots right into to main disk.

  • Tech tool disk will not boot machine ????

greetings in my neverending issue ....
so it all began with a neverending spinny gear on a G4 ibook that would not boot. So I booted it as a terminal of my old machine and got all the stuff off of it. Then I ran the disk utitlity from my G5 n the drive of the G4 when it was a terminal and it said there were no errors.
So Now I guess I need to reinstall the software. So I got some G4 disks from a pal and tried to boot from the install/restore disk holding the C down and it just kept telling me I needed to restart my machine ... so I tried but it would not get past the spinny wheel AND i couldn't get the disk out
    so
some nice folks told me here how to get Open Firmware to eject the cd, and that worked great. Then I put the TechTool pro disk into the drive and turned it on holding down the C and I get the apple screen, and then it kind flashes and I get another apple screen where the apple is just a hair to the right of centre on the screen (I woldn't notice the change otherwise!!) and NOTHING ...
no spinnny gear below the apple
    just the apple sitting there
    no sound of disk spinning
just the fan that comes on and then turns off
    ideas?
    kt

    HI kt,
I love to offer advice to Apple users here except when I have to say something they don't want to hear. It sounds like the drive is dying and needs to be laid to rest even though you ran DU and it reported no errors, obviously something is wrong when you can't boot from the restore disk or TechToolPro. Sounds like it just doesn't want to mount any disks at all.
Try resetting the PMU... here's how: Reset PMU on iBookG4
Also, here's a PDF User Manual for the iBookG4: iBookG4 User Manual PDF
A trip to an Apple store or an Apple retailer might be the answer.

  • Apple  Care Tech Tool disk indicates video ram failure

I have a MBP purchased in 3/08 - 2.4 with 256MB GeForce 8600M and the tech tool disc keeps telling me the video ram failed the test process. What does this mean and could this explain the pages taking so long to load in safari that have pictures and video? Safari on certain web site pages will sit there in a continuous loading position. The status bar will progress about 1 inch and never move again or load the page. I have to continuously keep reloading the page until it will finally complete the page. Even then half the pictures will not load. This started about a month ago, which is why I bought the apple care.
    Thanks
    Frank

It means the video RAM has failed. Take it in for service.

  • Infamous Question Mark Battles Disk Tools....

I have a '91 version of a PBook 140 that began giving me a single disk icon with a question mark in its center at every attempted startup about 10 years ago. Nothing else on the desktop--just the single disk with the flahing question mark. No hard disk icon...no nothing.
So, I instantly gave up, bought another computer and moved on. Now to my great surprise, I seem to need documents from that laptop. Assuming zero help was out there, I typed 'powerbook question mark' into google and found this incredible forum.
The best thread I could find was the same problem posted 04/13/06 by spavati and answered by Jan Hedlund & AppleIIfreak. I tried their solutions, and actually got it to boot to the 7.0.1 disk tools disk. But now, that disk tools icon the only thing that will come up, regardless of what I do. I can open it with no problem. And I know to drag the system suitcase into the system folder of my hard disk, but I have no hard disk icon. No trash icon. Zero.
So close....hopefully. Can anybody get me out of the mess I've created?? (Hard to type those question marks).

    Hi,
Since all I have is PC available, can I use something like your step by step guide you detailed back in 04/13/06 for creating a bootable floppy thru PC?
You could use said description in order to get a bootable Network Access Disk 7.5 (in addition to the 7.0.1 Disk Tools that you have created already), which might be a good idea anyway. However, in order to modify the Network Access floppy to hold Mt. Everything, a Mac with a (built-in) floppy drive would be needed.
Also, the Mt. Everything download is in the form of a StuffIt (.sit) file. Normally, one shall not unpack such a file on a PC (wait until on a Mac, and decompress via StuffIt Expander there). Otherwise, the special two-part structure (one resource and one data fork) of a Mac program file will be damaged. The creation of floppies directly from certain (Disk Copy 4.2 type) disk images on a PC is an exception.
If not, I can eventually get a newer Apple from a friend that has web access, download the MT E and generate an Apple CD, then fgure out a way to get that to floppy.
A Mac is not needed for the download as such; you could use your PC (and then a 1.44 MB diskette for a pure transfer, as long as you keep the .sit file unaltered until on a Mac, as mentioned earlier). Many older Macs can read PC floppies (providing that a PC Exchange control panel is present and active, or that a separate Apple File Exchange program is used). If necessary, a utility such as HFVExplorer or TransMac can be used on a PC to allow the handling of Mac-formatted 1.44 MB floppy disks.
Most helpful in this case would be another Mac introduced approx. 1991 to 1996, running something like System 7.0.1 to 7.6.1. Then you could use that Mac for floppy modifications and for various tests.
You may need a suitable version of StuffIt Expander for Macintosh. This is how to obtain a working 4.0.1 installer through a PC: Download the MACDISK.EXE file here. Prepare an empty PC-formatted 1.44 MB diskette via FORMAT A: in DOS or the "full" formatting option under Windows. Run the MACDISK.EXE program on the PC. Follow the on-screen instructions. When ready, immediately move the (now Mac-formatted) floppy to an old Mac and carry out the StuffIt Expander installation.
