SJSC 1.9 - MacOSX 10.4.6 (Intel)

Hi,
I need to install SJSC 2004Q2 - Update 9 on my brand new MacBook Pro. Although when installing 2004Q2 from the original CD (my company bought it about a year ago) and check for updates, it fails to contact its Update Center, making it impossible to upgrade from 2004Q2 thru the Update Center.
So I tried looking around on sun.com to find a 2004Q2 - Update 9 bundle for MacOSX without much luck. It seems that such a download is next to impossible to find on sun.com nowadays.
Could somebody point me to a Sun Java Studio Creator 2004Q2 - Update 9 bundle for MacOSX, please.
PS: I know that SJSC 2 has been officially released for a while, but I'd really need 2004Q2 - Update 9.
Best regards.

Hi,
Creator 2004Q2 update 9 can be downloaded at:
http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=8&PartDetailId=SJSEC-04Q2-UR9-G-F&TransactionId=noreg
It is recommended that the latest version of creator be downloaded as this contains many enhanced features and bug fixes.

    Hi
There does not seem to be a specific Migration Manual available as yet but you could read this:

As it does not contain some important information regarding upgrading and migrating: Page 40 and Page 144.

  • HELP!! 10.4.9 Killed my Mac Mini

    Hi,
I installed two updates today; the iPhoto update and the 10.4.9 update to my G4 Mac Mini. Both updates downloaded ok (although the OSX update took hours on a fast DSL connection, which was strange) and the iPhoto install went ok, but the mini crashed when trying to install the 10.4.9 update. The screen went grey and a darker grey box came up telling me to restart.
I did, and the familiar grey screen with Apple logo appeared. Next came a blue screen with progress bar, but this is where it stops. It stays on this screen, no progress. I popped in the install disk and verified the disk; no errors were reported. Next I repaired permissions, of which there were many to repair.
I then changed the start up disk, restarted, but with the same results; I get the grey screen with the Apple logo and then the blue screen with progress bar, but that's it.
What can I do? How can I get my mini back to life?
    Bruno

Well, at least your mac is mounting the disk.
    I would try the following.
1 If you can, download the combo updater for 10.4.9 for your processor type, either ppc or intel.
    INTEL http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1049comboupdate intel.html
    PPC http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1049comboupdate ppc.html
2 Copy that downloaded file to an external firewire or usb drive if you can.
3 Boot your problem mac in Safe Mode. Simply hold down the shift key until you see the Apple logo. It will take longer than normal to boot.
4 Connect the external drive to your mini. Locate the combo updater you downloaded in step 1 and double click it. Install and leave the computer alone until the installer finishes. When it's done it will ask you to restart, do that - restart. Yes I know you are installing over an installed update, that's ok, files will overwrite themselves.
5 Once up (it may do two restarts on you, this is normal) launch disk utilities. Disk utilities is a utility. It's located in applications/utilities folder.
6 Repair the disk you installed the 10.4.9 update on.
    7. Restart once more for good measure.
    I hope this helps
PS unplug anything that is not necessary incase.
Some of my notes are not founded on any documentation but this is what I did and my issues was resolved. I installed 10.4.9 on my intel imac but it was constantly upon restart only a few days later.
My symptoms and hardware differ slightly from your but I followed those same steps I gave you and in my case it got my mac back. I hope it can help you or anyone else.

  • Help! MacBook won't start using 10.4.11

My MacBook ran fine using 10.4.10, no problems. Then I used Software Update to download and install new software, including the update to 10.4.11, iTunes 7.5, new iDVD, and one other item, can't remember. I left and when I came back, the screen just showed an empty desktop, and I had power down manually. Now, whenever I try to boot up, I get the light gray screen with the apple logo, the spinning circle with spokes, and that's it. Even after twenty minutes, it doesn't change. I've tried rebooting in safe mode, and using a Panther CD startup disk while holding down the C key. Neither do anything, and now the CD is stuck in the drive. All I can do is manually power it down. What should I do now?

To Make a Freezed Mac Working again the Recipie is Simple:
    1. One Freezed Apple Macantosh
    2. One Working Mac for downloading, Extracting and copying
    2. A Freshly downloaded Combo update package of MacOsX 10.4.11 Intel (The simple (Non-Combo) update will also work).
    3. One USB or External HD Volume
    4. Software/Setup DVD (This comes with your Mac)
    5. A whole lot of WILL
    Method:
First of all extract the downloaded .dmg to .pkg and then copy the .pkg file to an USB or External HD from another Mac... Plug the USB or External HD in your Freezed Mac... then Boot your Mac with the Setup CD by Pressing C on the Keyboard... then Open the TERMINAL panel in the Utilities tab on the top of your screen, then type in the Terminal:
    cd “/volumes/MacHD/”
(IMP Note: the MacHD must be replaced with your HD Name)
    Then Type:
    "/volumes/MacHD/usr/bin/open" /volumes/USB/MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.11Intel.pkg
(IMP Note: the MacHD must be replaced with your HD Name..
there is a space between open" and /volumes
USB is the name of my external USB... so change it to yours!
*DO NOT change /usr/ to your users name!*)
This will open the Update Install Window (GOOD NEWS for your MAC)
Choose your Macintosh HD as destination drive and install.
When install is finished click on reboot and wait... this will take some time, so don't WORRY.
When you're back in your System Reboot again.
    Done.

hi have been having some moments where my fan just goes on and sounds very loud whenever i start doin a lot of extensive tasks. i also noticed that there is a slight static in the back. is this normal?

Update your system to 10.4.9, run all software updates, i see your info shows you are currently running on 10.4.8.
What's maybe better is to download the Combo 10.4.9 update from the apple site and install that.

My MacBook died on updating to 10.4.11. It boots to the gray screen with the Apple and the spinner thing, and that's it. Eventually the fan speeds up and I turn it off.
I put in the install disk and tried repair disk, and it said the disk was OK. I repaired permissions, and it found a couple things, but it had no apparent effect on the computer booting.
My most vital stuff is all backed up (I hope), but there are a lot of little things there I really don't want to lose if I can help it, so I don't want to reformat if I don't have to.
Is there any possibility that buying Leopard and upgrading would work? If I can't fix this myself, this update is going to cost me one way or another anyway.

  • [IDCS4] Space bar shortcut for hand doesn't work

    I am experiencing following problem:
I have written a startup script that shows a floating panel (it is a window that uses 'palette' as a type description). I also added menu item and listeners to show/hide it (in menu window). Inside the panel there is a flex application that communicates with InDesign via ExternalInterface (no PatchPanel). Whenever I start InDesign with this script as startup script  suddenly spacebar stops working as a shrotcut that temporarily changes  used tool to Hand Tool. Even closing InDesign and removing startup script and restarting InDesgin doesn't help, I need to logout and login again to make spacebar work. I am experiencing this issue on MacOSX 10.4 on Intel Mac, InDesign 6.0.5 and script is written in ExtendScript.
I also found that running the startup script from scripts panel seems to  solve the problem, but this is rather undesired, since the panel should  be available from InDesign startup...
Has anybody of you experienced the same behaviour? Maybe there is some sort of programatic fix? It drives me mad, because I am used to spacebar as a temporary hand. Of course if there is no other fix, I'll need to find some sort of hack that performs initialization after startup, but this is rather undesired
Thanks in advance for your help and expertise

After some investigation I can tell that aforementioned bahaviour is most probably caused by opening the INDD file by using AIR API (file.openWithDefaultApplication()). When file is opened by user this behaviour is not observed, but when INDD is opened from AIR application, it results with disabling spacebar shortcut. What is even more strange, the shortcut is disabled not only in InDesign, but also in Illustrator. Photoshop works fine...
Geez, Adobe, you're giving me so much headache...

  • Adobe Audition 5.5 will not play file after importing

I am new with this software, so bare with me please.
First, I am workign with a Macbook Pro, MacOSx, 2.2 Ghz Intel Cose i7 with 4 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3.
The version of Audition is version 4 build 1815.
For the first two weeks, everything was fine.  I would import an MP3 file and then could listen to the file by pressing the spacebar or the small play icon.
Last night I imported a file and when I press the spacce bar, nothing happens.  Same for when I press the play icon.   The small triangle on the play button will change color but that is it.
I figured, what the heck, I must have screwed something up.  So, I uninstalled and reinstalled.
    Same results.
I went back and tried some recent project which were working fine a few days ago and they do the same thing.
So, help me out.  Any sugggestions?
    Rick Johnson

I don't know anything about Macs, but if you hit play in Audition (regardless of which version) and the transport doesn't move, then it's disconnected from your sound device.

  • Thinking about Leopard

I am thinking about upgrading my macbook to Leopard. I heard though that it is not compatible with alot of programs already on the Macbooks with 10.4. IS this true? Also would I need to get more memory to support the upgrade?

I heard though that it is not compatible with alot of programs already on the Macbooks with 10.4. IS this true?
The biggest problem is Adobe has difficulty with some 10.5 compatibility:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/products/pdfs/leopardsupport.pdf
Also would I need to get more memory to support the upgrade?
At least 512 MB of RAM is good, and the more the merrier.
Check with each application you use at http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/ for Leopard and Intel compatibility for your MacBook. If there are any that aren't listed, or you are uncertain, check with the developer website. If you have another Mac you intend to install Leopard on, let us know.
More and more Leopard compatible applications exist, but you also have to think in terms of printer, and scanner drivers too.

  • Again macosx 10.4.6 update for imac intel

as i see im not the only one who has problems with it.. so, i have only a isdn connection (64 kbit) but it works fine.. so.. i couldnt download the update via macosx update service, so i downloaded it on the apple support site, with a download manager, because my provider cuts the connection every 8 hours. i have an imac 1,83ghz intel with 512mb ram etc..
everytime i try to install the update im able to get to the point "choose target volume" but thats it. i cant choose the macintosh HD as target volume, because there is an error message: "you cant install macosX update (intel) on this volume. this volume does not fulfill the qualifications for this update."
i have 123gigs free memory on the hd, the update takes only 436mb it says..
so.. i feel remembered to a meaningless windows error message...
    thank you!

    Hi Mario, my best guess.
You don't say what version of 10.4 you are on now but if it is 10.4.4 you cannot use the 10.4.6 update, as it is incremental, you need the 10.4.6 Combo Update for Intel.
Hence the message, "this volume does not fulfill the qualifications for this update"?
Best to take a disk to a friend with broadband or an Apple store as sig says.

  • Will Oracle supports "Installations" on Tiger? Will MacOSX/Intel supported?

Oracle 10g runs well on Mac OS X 10.4 (PowerPC) but is unable to install! Are there plans to fix it? And what's about Mac OS X (Intel)? The most problem should be byte-ordering ... no problem for Oracle i think, they supports MSB and LSB as well!
Any reaction for Oracle since now?

I certainly hope not. Lets not forget that it is not a small change. For some unknown reason oracle has datafiles that have formats inside that are cpu dependent. The shift to intel also means shifting from Big Endian to Little Endian cpus. This can not be solved by setting a flag in xcode 2.1, this wil mean a rewrite of more than a few lines of code. I expect that most of this code will be isolated to a few libraries.
I think that as long as Apples plans for the xserve are not known, oracle won't do anything and I can't blame them for it. By the end of the year 10Gr2 and after that we will see.

  • How to triple boot (MacOSX / Win7 / Linux) a MacBook Pro (Retina, late 2013) with Refind

ok it's not a question, it's an howto.
You do it at your own risk. No failure reported so far, but I'm not responsible for anything.
If you try to multiboot your MacBook Pro (MBP hereafter) you may face a new complexity. With on partition, Bootcamp does a pretty amazing job installing windows. But when you want to partition your disk in your own way, Bootcamp may fail to install windows and another third OS. You may also want to have a share partition between your OSes, hence have multiple partitions. Most of this tuto should also work for Windows 8 and for other Macbooks.
Problem 1 : Bootcamp does it with one partition that it divides in two and allow to setup Win7. Not all time though since some user reportidely have problems to get USB 3 support and the keyboard and mouse are non working during the install / setup phase.
Problem 2 : Windows 7 is not able to install itself to a GPT partition and needs an Hybrid MBR. Bootcamp does this, but just for a Dual OS setup. So to make the magic happen in a multi OS environment, you'll have to do want bootcamp does, manually.
Step 1 : Download the OS X Recovery Disk Assistant from Apple and flash it to a USB stick. (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433)
Step 2 : Reboot, holding the option key (aka CMD, left of spacebar) down, to trigger the boot menu options. Start the usb drive with OS X recovery and enter the partition tool. Create 3 to 4 partitions, suiting your tastes. Just put windows partition first and I recommend to put the partition sharing data across OSes second, MacOS 3rd and Linux Last for example. MacOS and Linux are fine with pretty much every setup, Windows need the 1° usable partition.
Step 3 : Migrate your Macos using the same tool (google it for details) or Reinstall MacOS from the recovery partition. (more about migration here, but there are better tuto on this)
Step 4 : Start your MacOS and create a bootcamp USB stick with the bootcamp tool. You need an ISO from Win7 (or Win 8) and a drive of at least 4 GB. Bootcamp will most likely complain about the fact that it will not be able to install 7 due to the fact that you don't have only one partition, ignore and proceed to the Bootcamp USB stick setup.
Step 5 : Adding the USB3 support to your Win7 installation. Plug your newly created Win7 USB stick to a computer running Windows. In the sources directory, copy the boot.vim on your disk drive and add the drivers that Bootcamp added to your USB stick, in the $WinPEDriver$ directory and follow these instructions to add them to your boot.vim image. Follow carefully every step, it does works. Add the drivers you feel like, commit and copy back your boot.vim image, patched, to your USB stick, in the sources directory.
Step 6 : In your MacOSX, install the GPT fdisk partition tool. You just have to unzip the archive. Win7 is unable to install to a GPT disk, so you will have to create a (dirty) Hybrid MBR. From a terminal, launch GPT fdisk. Carefull here, the Win7 is most likely not the 1st but the 2nd or 3rd because there is an UEFI partition before. Just check before adding them if in doubt, by striking p. Then key in r then h then the number of the partitions you want to add to this hybrid MBR (the Win7 & the Shared one). Accept the type 07 for this partition and type y, n & finally w. (more details here for the fans)
Step 7 : Reboot, keep the CMD key down to trigger the boot option menu. Reboot on the USB stick, install Win7. If it doesn't understand the partition made for it, format it, if needed, from the 7 installer, delete and recreate it.
Step 8 : Install your favorite Linux distro with a USB stick generator. (see here & here). No complex part, except that Grub will most likely scratch your nice Hybrid MBR, rendering Win7 inaccessible. No problem, reboot in MacOS and redo step 6, this will revive your win7.
Step 9 : It's cosmetic but keeping CMD key down to boot is not so practical. ReFind does it just great. Setup is super easy, just kick install.sh from a shell in MacOS. Fine tune decoration and some stuffs later on from the config file.
Step 10 (optionnal) : You want it all, without switching between OSes? Having Windows app running within MacOS is easy, with most native hardware acceleration preserved, using Parallels desktop. It also works with a "simple" Bootcamp Windows setup.
Enjoy your mighty triple boot MBP.

Just ordered a Retina MacBook Pro11,2 (mid-2014 15", 2.2GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, OSX 10.9.4 Pre-installed - Build 13E28)  and have the exact same issue.  The first thing I did when i booted it for the first time was enable FileValut2 and encrypt the disk.  Though I failed to notice this behavior prior to encrypting the disk, the stuttering/lag happens without fail every time I have logged in from a cold boot, locked screen or sleep. Additionally I have noticed the same stuttering behavior when switching tabs on various built-in OSX applications such as the tabs on the About This Mac > More Info.... (System Information) dialog for example, and similarly other dialogs that experience this behavior of resizing when switching tabs. I was running no other software than About This Mac > More Info ... (System Information) and OSX 10.9.4 itself.  The issue happens without fail with and without a USB mouse plugged in.
I am really glad to have found this thread and with such recent posts.  I'd love to find out that this is just a software bug that will be fixed when OSX 10.10 "Yosemite" is released.  If not, I hope the cause of this bug is determined soon so I can still exchange or have it repaired.
Migflono and Matthew, would you be able to post your hardware specs for comparison?
