Skewing a picture to a particular shape

I have drawn a shape as a template for a picture which I want to skew into the same sort of shape. I have tried various tools (including Shear, Free Transform, white arrow and arrow +, ...) but I cannot get it to go into that particular shape, though some have moved it towards the shape, but not exactly.
I thought this would be easy, just using the white arrow and selecting one corner point at a time, moving it to the place I want it to be.
Here is the shape (the yellow part):
How can I get my picture into that shape and angle?
Thanks for any help.

The technic works but it should be pointed out that it might distort the image in a way you might not  expect it to for example

  • Can you skew a "picture within picture"?

    Hi all,
    I have this video clip:
    http://www.computershy.com/tv_720.jpg
I'd like to insert a video clip (or a still graphic) from one of my instructional videos onto the tv screen (so that it looks like he's watching
    one of my programs).
iMovie 09 makes it pretty easy but the video clips and the still graphics that I've tried don't fit perfectly onto the TV's green screen.
Is there a way to "skew" a video or a picture onto the TVs green screen so that it looks natural?
Or am I going about this the wrong way?
    Thanks!
    Mike

There is no way to do this in iMovie 09. The PIP will be rectangular and line up with the dimensions of the larger screen.

  • Is it possible to change a picture into a circle shape

i'm trying to add some pictures to a project on iwork and i want to use a picture from iphoto but change it's shape to a circle. is this possible with a standard macbook pro and ilife and iwork? thanks for any help/advice.

That would be a shape you make in iWork. Then put the photo in it.

  • How to view all pictures on a particular disk

This might be a stupid question, but I can not figure out how to do what should be a very simple thing. I have pictures for 4 different HD's that are tied to the lightroom program. When importing I had it rename everything to a particular formate and asked it to be organized a certain way (year month day). Here is the thing I want to move the contents of a whole drive to another drive, but in lightroom there didn't seem to be a way to see pictures just from 1 particular drive. It is all just by year month and day. Is there a way to select and view in the library all images say from drive 1. In folder section just has year month and day---no actually drive location unless I right click and say show in finder, but I am not about to do that for 40,000 images. I have to be missing something---this should be such a basic thing.
    Could someone help out?
    Thanks.

    Andrew,
While what you are saying makes sense, it's a bit vague.
Lightroom can move files and folders anywhere around drives, but will not move a folder into a location where that folder name already exists.
If you want to have the main drive appear as a folder, you should be able to select the root folder on the drive clicking + beside 'Folders' and choosing it.

  • Using pen tool to draw a particular shape...

    Hi all,
I'm pretty new to Illustrator and just wanted some advice.
I'm using the pen tool to try and draw a specific shape () but finding it hard trying to 'smooth' out the points where I connect my lines.
The pen tool can't draw this all in one go, so when I try to do it in several stages, the lines don't connect up smoothly so it looks a bit... rubbish.
Anyone got any tips or how to do this simply? Sorry if this is a total idiotic question but, I'm trying...!
    Cheers

    Somehow your picture won't show.

  • How do I tell if a particular shape is a closed shape or an open shape?

Is there some way to easily tell if a shape is "closed" or "open"? (I think I learned vectors on FreeHand a million years ago and seem to remember that I could "close" a shape.)

Or, simply look at it in outline mode for a moment. Cmnd / Crtl + Y (or View > Outline). Same quick key switches back to preview (normal) mode.

  • How to cut and paste a picture into a shape in Illustrator CS4

In illustrator CS4 I am trying to cut and paste a picture into a shape. In freehand the shortcut was so easy. I know there is one in Illustrator but cant remember what it is, can anyone tell me?

    K8,
What Steve said, with the addition that you may get rid of the outlying parts, by:
    1) With the mask selected, in the Transparency palette dropdown select anything but Normal,
    2) Object>Flatten Transparency, no need to change options,
unless you have withheld information and really want to distort the picture to fit the shape, in which case you should select both shape and picture and Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Top Object.
The procedure 1) - 2) is destructive in case of vector artwork but makes no difference with raster images, and it makes it easier to avoid accidental/unwanted selection outside the  Clipping Mask.

  • Resize custom shapes that I have downloaded

Hi, I have downloaded some  scroll picture frames as custom shapes.   but on draging over picture they are thick and huge.   can i alter the size of custom shapes.  I have tried doing on a separate layer and when these particular shapes there is no size in the tools options. I have cs5 I would like to be able to make something like this thinner or the actual frame smaller but still be able to go from corner to corner on pic.
    many thanks Denise

    Hi
with the  original message I did do a screen shot from snipping tool , but answers says forum cannot accept email atatments, so not sure how to do.  I inserted it through the camera icon just above on this message form.
so I will try this again
the scroll frame  I used this time may be a little different.  I make a newblank layer to put this frame on and I don't have any difficulty adding a colour to frame, I want to be able to still get frame to fit corner to corner but make it thinner.  ? may be they are a set size.
    thanks Denise

  • IPhoto 4 - Can't see pictures to organize them

I just ordered iLife '08. In the meantime, I am using iPhoto 4. Things have been running smoothly for years. Today, that changed. For some reason when I am working with my photos in the "organize" setting I can no longer see all the pictures in any particular folder. Instead, I see just one picture similar to what is seen in the "edit" mode. This new problem limits my ability to work with my pictures. Especially since there are no "previous" and "next" arrow key options at the bottom of the "organize" view. I imagine I hit a key accidentally. I just can't find how to bring back all my pictures so I can see them in the "organize' view the way I use to see them. Any ideas on how to do so? P.S. When I click on my different folders in iPhoto sometimes, just briefly, I am able to see all the pictures in that folder. Then the pictures are replaced by only one picture from that particular folder (similar to what is seen in "edit").

You guessed it. Now, I just hope iLife '08 is worth it. I ordered that when I thought the perceived iPhoto glitch was a sign it was time to upgrade from iPhoto 4. We'll see.

  • Pictures not appearing - sometimes

I am using the x5 version with Word 2003 SP3 and I have been
having issues with some of my pictures not appearing when I
compile. In this project I make a .hlp file and I don't remember if
I have had this issue with the few .chm projects I have. If I use
the Active Test button, my picture appears, but when I make the
final hlp file I end up with the {bmc filename.bmp} link appearing
    instead of the picture.
I have played around with inserting another graphic and
moving lines around and there is something really strange in there.
If I insert another graphic, the new one shows up as the {bmc} and
the old one actually shows the picture. If I remove the new
picture, I go back to showing the {bmc} for the old one again.
In other cases I had to move the picture to a particular line
    and if there were any blank lines around it I would get the {bmc}
again. I only work on help projects a few times as year, so I do
not remember exactly what I did to get the picture to appear the
last time this happened. I just remember getting it to appear by
putting the picture right next to a certain paragraph and I left it
that way - even though it wasn't the best looking page that way.
Has anyone had anything similar to this happen before? It is
really hard to figure out what is going on and finding and fixing
the missing pictures is a big project. Any ideas would be greatly
    appreciated!

I too had a similar problem with my winhelp 2000 project. The
images were not getting displayed in the output.
I was told by Mr. Peter Grainge that the images should be
only inserted through the robohelp's New Help Image tool button. It
    solved the problem.
As I was adding another word document to the project, I ended
up creating two separate folders for the images from both
documents. Now, when I generated the output the images again went
missing. So, I took a chance by cutting and pasting all the images
in a single folder and presto !! It works. The images are getting
    displayed.
Just check whether the folder where ur images are stored lays
in BMROOT. If not, then you have to insert them again.
    Enjoy!!

  • Problem with pictures in pages 5 and epub

    Hello,
I have been using pages 09 to make epubs for the last 6 months with happy results.
My new macbook pro came in the mail and I have some problems.
I have figured out how to do all the text formatting, including titles/chapter names, etc. on pages 5.
    My problems is with pictures.
In the past, I would click view, then show invisibles, so I could see where the chapter marks are to insert my picture in a particular spot.
The old pages, was great, and the pic showed up right where I wanted it, and that was the end of the story.
New Pages, just throws the picture on the page and then forces me to select a variety of options as far as telling it how I want the picture to display.
This would be no big deal if I only had one or two pics to deal with, but I have tons of pics that need to be inserted in pages and exported to epub.
Does anyone know an easy way to tell pages 5 to just put the picture where I am telling it!
    Any advice would be appreciated.
Also, one negative on pages 09 is that you could only have a certain amount of pics/chapter, otherwise they would not show up in the exported epub.
Anyone know if pages 5 suffers from the same absurdity or if you can insert as many pics as you want/chapter.

Ok, I understand what you guys are saying.
    A related issue.
I had been using pages 4.1.
When I would take a pic plucked from a pdf and put it into pages and then exported to epub, it compressed the file about 80% like it should.
I ditched pages 5 and went to pages 4.3 (which looked identical to my old pages 4.1.
For whatever reason when I take the same pdf pic and put it into pages and export to epub, instead of compressing by 80%, it is actually expanding the file by 700%.
The original image is identical in both cases, but pages 4.3 doesn't compress upon export to epub.
    Any suggestions?

  • How do I rotate a picture in Photoshop cs5

How can i rotate a picture with photoshop cs5

Ctrl-t on windows and command-t on a mac. That with let you rotate, scale and skew a picture on a layer.
Image>Image rotation>{Choose one} That will rotate the entire document by what you choose.

  • Pictures screen saver.  My "best" photos look granular. Why?

Hello. I have a number of photos saved on my mac. Some were taken years ago with a cheap digital camera. Some were scanned in recently using a scanner. Others were taken using a more expensive, good quality, slr camera. I refer to the slr pictures as my "best" pictures for this particular question.
When I view these photos through iphoto they are excellent. When the play through the atv as a screen saver, they look excellent. Yet, if I select these photos to play as the screen saver "one at a time" type of mode (i.e. not the collage mode), the "best" pictures look granular or blurry. While the old photos all look great.
I've played around with the options in the screen saver and it didn't do any good. Just cropped or otherwise move the photos around and they didn't look any better.
What am I missing here that would cause these otherwise great pictures to look bad in the screen saver on the mac?
    Thanks.

Just curious to know how your pictures look in Picture Viewer? Select actual size and if they come close to filling your screen and look fine I don't know why they wouldn't look ok in Screensaver. If they show in Picture viewer as being small this might be one of the cases where the dimensions are actually small, say 4 by 5, but the resolution is high, say 120 to 300. I think that it is this type of picture that doesn't scale well at all. They would look ok on a tv but why they would look good in iPhoto I don't know.

  • How to write all metadata changes to picture files

I created a catalog and started entering keywords and other data prior to learning about the "Automatically write changes into XMP" option in "Edit / Catalog Settings / Metadata".  I then enabled the option because I want all metadata to be stored with the picture.  Now I know that I can select individual pictures, or groups of pictures and use 'Metadata / Save Metadata to File' to update the pictures with all the metadata I entered prior to making the change to the 'Save to XMP' option.  What I want to know is if there is a way to automatically update the necessary files without having to individually select them.  I could try selecting every picture in my 50,000+ picture database and performing an update, but it seems like such a waste of time when there are probably only 500 or so pictures that really need updating.  Is there a way to do this without having to search through the grid view and individually select all of the files that are out of date?
    Thanks, Gary

Well, unless I am doing something wrong, it doesn't seem to be automatically saving the older XMP data for me after changing the menu option.  The machine has been left on over night several times and over a couple of weekends with Lightroom running and things still seem to be out of sync.  I am using the brute force approach to copy all metadata in the catalog to the files.  It's going to take a while, but I want to get things back in sync.  I keep several smaller 'Child' catalogs to improve speed performance while annotating and keying pictures.  I also have a'Master' catalog that includes all of the pictures from all of the other catalogs.  I use this catalog when I want to search ALL pictures for a particular keyword.
