Skills required for BPX

Hi BPX Gurus,
Just attended SAP Summit06 at Mumbai and was introduced to this fascinating world of BPX's.
I have gone through some of the topics mentioned in this General Discussion forum and came out with real good insights.
For a starter, was just thinking what should be the skills required for becoming BPX in one's organization. I think it should be mix of some knowledge of applications (prevalent in the enterprise) + Netweaver + ESA.
Can we come out with a list so that things become clearer as days pass by?
Thanks for this oppurtunity given for sharing and getting views circulated to all !!!
Regards,
Satyaprakash

Hi Satyaprakash
As the term suggest a BPX is  a business expert.
He must know very well the processes involved in the his business area and have a clear focus on reenginering and inprouving of these processes.
As the result of your AS is analysis you need to create a modelization of the to be processes and translate them in IT Values.
So the business reengineering brings you to the BPX technical aspects.  Which tools can we use to resolve our gaps and estimate the technical effort .
After this you must trnaslate your analysis in code/customizing in the realization phases.
So this model brings us to the standard and well known ASAP Methodology: Business Blueprint (functional analysis), APplication Blueprint (Technical analysis) Realization, and Final Preparation.
Hope it helps

  • What r the skills required for R12 or Fusion ??

    Hello All,
I am working on 11i Apps
which is the next version after R12 ?
Can you please tell me going forward what r the skills required for R12 or Fusion ?
As well what is SOA,BPEL,JSM ??? Is it related to the oracle apps ?
    Please guide me.
    Thanks in advance

Middleware fusion is basically software that connects applications to a database. Middleware Fusion, or Weblogic, sets on top of the database and different software such as SOA(Service-Oriented Architecture, OBIEE, ODI, etc is installed on top of Weblogic. I am not sure what JSM is and I can tell you BPEL is apart of SOA. All these things can connect to Oracle EBS if the company wants them to. Our company has SOA, OBIEE, and other products on top of different Weblogic Servers, and these applications connects to the server that Oracle EBS is on and use data from EBS. But yes, as stated before EBS and Middleware fusion are two totally different beast.
A middleware admin is suppose to do the middleware work but in our shop we don't have that luxury so we do it all. Jack of all trade environment, master of none but learn something new everyday and I'm extremely marketable because I dibble in so much. But I would not recommend you learn all. Way too much and can be extremely overwhelming, stick with R12, that is what I love the most!
    Hope that helps

  • SD and BW skills required for a DP person in a project

    Hello
In a project , as a DP end user / DP consultant what are the skills that are required from SD and BW perspective ?
    Please let me know.
    Thank you.
    Regards
    KK

    Hi
As far as BW is concern , I think its backbone of DP. You store all Master data and Transaction data in the for characteristic and key figures. So I think having indepth value of BW definetly add the values as DP consultant.
    Thanks

  • Change in technical skills required for APPS Release 12 ?

    Hi all,
My doubt/concern is: In APPS 11i, to become a technical developer, a person must have Oracle D2K + Pl/Sql skills as your basic skills for development/implementation. But I heard that starting from Release 12 onwards, there will not be any Oracle Forms/Reports involved. Instead , we need to develop Oracle APPS using Java only (Jdeveloper) from Release 12 onwards.
Is this true ? If yes, then are exisitng/new APPS Developers required to learn/migrate to Java Technology ? Kindly please advice as I do not have any experience/knowledge in Java and i am preparing to start my career in Oracle APPS.
    Regards,
    Kumar

Thank you very much for your encouragement.
I have 3 yrs of experience in Pl/Sql,Forms,Reports + some experience as Oracle DBA (9i Developer OCP + 9i DBA OCP). I have 2 options now, either become an:
    1) Oracle DBA/Oralce APPS DBA or
    2) Oracle APPS Technical Developer
For Option 1, I need to do some more certifications/gain DBA work experience I am confident that I can become an Oracle DBA or Oralce APPS DBA very soon.
For Option 2, I need to do learn Oracle APPS 11i basics first and then get a junior level APPS Technical Programmer Job somewhere. So It will take 2 more years for me to get comfortable with Oracle APPS 11i. But by that time, APPS Release 12 and Fusion will get released and all my current skillsets will not be enough to cope up with that. So I need to learn/switch to Web Services,BPEL,Java/J2EE,XML/CSS/XSL/JavaScript/ADF at that time. Please note that I dont have any knowledge in these technologies too and so I need to start from the basics only.
So taking my current skillsets into account, kindly please help me in chossing any one of the above 2 options, which will best suit me. Thanks in advance for any help that you would offer to me.

  • Minimum skill set for abap

i know only reporting(classicalreporting, interactive reporting and procedurel ALV reporting).
is this skill set enough to get job as a ABAP programmer?
if no, then what is the minimum skill set to get job in abap?

    Hi,
According to me the minimum skills required for a general ABAP Programming is all is that, you need to be familiar with the SQL Select statemernts to fectch the data from database server and populate the data and finally display the required output. Also it will be useful if you know how to send the data from non-SAP to SAP system doing this we have many procedures minimum required is BDC and its also good if you know the Scripts and Smartforms to display the layout.

  • Skills required fir portal Implementation

    Hi
What type of Skills required for Oracle Portal Implementation? Java/HTML?
    Thanks

portal development is not like webpaging and so it does not ONLY need html.
however, it depends upon what role one wants to play in oracle portals. for a developer of merely portal forms and reports, java is not essential, but html is necessary for controlling and understanding formatting options. because, one may use the other route of using pl/sql. but a good familiarity with databases would be a must.
so i would say it would go like this:
    1. a good familiarity with the databases and their design and implementations,
    2. pl/sql or java: to interact with the oracle portal utilities and features;
    3. and some interface development technologies: html plus dhtml/ javascript, xml, css, macromedia, etc.

  • Knowledge n skills required to run Application Express

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone plz inform regarding the knowledge and skills that are required to create, run and maintain any application built using Application Express
i.e the skills required for an Administrator, Developer and any other that I forgot.
    Thanks
    Any help is appreciated.

It depends on what you plan on using it for, but for the basics:
    <BR><BR>
Start by reading the 2 day developer that should make sense with a simple understanding of HTML, Javascript and SQL. Even without any knowledge or experience a bit of experimenting will have you using the tool relatively quickly.
    <BR><BR>
The best thing is just to download XE and set it up as testing/learning APEX and see what you need to take it from there to where you want to go. Once you are experimenting and have more specific questions the forums should be more than enough to get going.

  • Skill set required for Hyperion environment patching

    Hi all,
Could you please let me know what specific skill set is required for hyperion environment patching?
Does it come under hyperion application administration? Could you please also help me understand the difference between Hyperion application administrator and Hyperion infrastructure administrator?

Is there a reason for asking this question? It all depends on the company to how the role is defined, it is possbile application administrator or infrastructure administrator could be applying patches, usually falls more under an infra role though.
You would usually need product knowledge, the technologies behind EPM and the architecture, OS skills.
    Cheers

  • Technical requirements for SAP E-rectruiment

    Hello,
    We are using 4.7 version.
We bought ECC 6.0 just a test server without portal facility  for practice. Now we require the portal access. Can anybody says that how we can get that from SAP, Our main purpose is to use E-recrutiment in Portal since we already have ECC 6.0. Now we would like to buy EP tool also, however we  need to give complete  technical requirements for E-recruitment tool implementations for approval.
    your information is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Nydia.

    Hi Velu -
E-Sourcing technical consultants will require SQL skills if you are developing custom reports. The E-Sourcing query and reporting tools utilize "annotated" SQL statements the result in a SQL query being executed against the relational database. It is also useful for the report developer to have skills specific to the DBMS being used (for example, Oracle skills) - often times, using DBMS specific SQL constructs can provide improved reporting.
E-Sourcing has a feature called "scripting" that allows custom business logic to be included in the application and executed at various "call-out" points. The scripting feature provided by E-Sourcing uses a technology called BeanShell (see www.beanshell.org for more details on this technology). Beanshell development really requires strong programming skills using Java, although some components of BeanShell may be more like JavaScript. Regardless, I recommend Java expertise for writing E-Sourcing scripts. Knowledge of HTML is not required.
The E-Sourcing workflow capabilities also utilize BeanShell, so if you plan to implement any workflows, you will also require such technical skills.
Many other features of E-Sourcing such as user interface customization can be done with less technical individuals. Programming is not required.
    Hope this is helpful.

    Rob

  • Skills needed for Portal

    Hi All,
I am an ABAP consultant. I am trained in Web Dynpro ABAP.
I have a working knowledge on creation of i-Views.
What are the additional skills needed for maintaining a Enterprise Portal.
Is Java knowledge needed for this. If yes please provide the topics that I need to understand in Java.
            Thank you all in advance.

    Hello,
You will have to know the different components and what kind of configuration is possible out of the box within the enterprise portal i.e KM, Collab for example. Also general administration tasks - system creation, SSO federation. Getting into portals is easy being a good portal consultant is challenging to some since you would need to wholistic view of the landscape internet facing , intranet portal. Good to have also is a view of what portals other than SAP EP offer the same or better features.
Java is needed if you have to customize any existing component or if you want to build new components either in java or WD 4J
You may require muchmore than these but then as a starter you can install a portal on your local pc and explore the world
    Good Luck!!!

  • What are the settings required for QM in procurement

    Hi Team,
What are the settings required for QM in procurement. I have  set indicator for QM in procurement in QM view in material master.
I am not clear about  following fields to be maintained in QM view.
    QM Control Key
    Certificate type
    Target QM system
    Tech. delivery terms Indicator.
Please suggest me in which case to be used this fiels. Is it relivant to Quality Certificates.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    All meaning are
    QM Control Key :
If you activate the indicator for QM in procurement in the material master record at the client level, you must also store a control key at the plant level for quality management in procurement.
    Certificate type :
Certificate types applies to the Certificate processing in procurement  &  Certificate creation
    Target QM system :
whether the vendor's verified QM system, according to vendor master record or quality info-record (for a combination of vendor/material) meets the requirements for QM systems as specified in the material master
    -  If you activate the indicator for QM in procurement in the material master record at the client level, you must also store a control key at the plant level for quality management in procurement. If you want Procurment control then accordingly define Control Key.
    -  If you want Vendor's perticular certificate for Material then you have to define Certificate type.
Also, you have to maintain Material, Vendor's Info record at plant level.
    Thanks,
    JM
