Skinning feature, what is the limit?

Question

I try to customize a menuTree element with a new skin. However, I see some limitations in the style I want to apply on this component. First, I figured out what was rendered by the nodeStamp facet, (thanks to the IE Developer toolbar) :

</TABLE>I would like 2 things (in comments):
1) Pull out the icon from the first TD tag.
2) Change the style of the 2nd TD tag. I can't do it within the component I put inside the nodeStamp facet because it is rendered inline, so can I do it at all?
This question goes more widely too : Can we apply style to everything or we have to write our own JSF components or more flexible ones to meet styling requirements ?

   <A  href="http://127.0.0.1:8988/test-ViewController-context-root/faces/accueil.jspx#"></A>There is no style class with this. So best sugegstion is to addressthe first table row TR in the TBODY element using the ::first pseudo element
The second one has a style class, which traslates to a selector. You can disable compression to see the selector name
