Skins "broken" or?

I've got a number of Q/T movies (made around 2005) that skinned. I used the instructions on the Q/T site to achieve them. I've tried to play them recently. Initially they load fine then, it's like a "shift" occurs where the skin and the movie are no longer correctly positioned and the movie will not play at all. It's a mess and I have no idea where to start. I've been trying to read them off a CD. I think if there was any corruption of data I wouldn't get anything . . . right?
Any idea what's happening? I'm stumped.

These items were made in December 2003 (earlier than I thought) Codecs are Photo-jpeg QuickDraw, Skin. One is 00:12 long with a bit rate of 357 and a total size of 536KB and weirdly enough the encoding software is Adobe Photoshop 7.0. or so it says. The others are roughly similar.
It seems as though the underlying B&W images and Drag Area have shifted up and to the left. This symptom is consistent across all these files. The Q/T Inspector says that I've used Apple Photo-JPEG and Apple QuickDraw

I was able to use or view both of your files. The interface looked familiar. The video in the Road Trip interface played with sound and the PSP slide show worked as designed.
I don't remember using Photoshop for this or even how encoding could be done with P/S 7.
These "play" after a fashion but as mentioned prior, are skewed up and to the left. One opened just now and instead of displaying properly I caught a "drop shadow"(?) of the intended "Skin". The image didn't display, just a partial drop shadow.
Weirder and weirder.
I remember the Apple instructions being very vague and in fact miserable to execute. It took quite a bit of "Noodling" to get these done. I'm really stumped now. I'd like to resurrect these but it isn't looking good. Any further help/ideas would be appreciated. thanks

Media Skins broken in Windows QT

I have a neat media skin I built. Works great on QT 6 or 7 on the Mac.
On windows, I have noticed two bugs.
1) Click on the drag region and the player forground jumps and loses the correct mapping betwen the drag and foreground region.
2) the button images have a white pixel area neat the right hand side / and or are not aligned right after the above #1 occurs.
3) The repaint of the video window if you drag the media player leaves garbage (old pixels) on occasion
All in all, it makes skins unusable for Windows.... Hopefully it will be fixed quickly...as of 7.0.4 it's broken, I may have to go to WMP (yuck) to deliver functionality on windows if this is not addressed...
has anbody seen this?

Is trinidad messages skinning broken in Jdeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 ?

I’m doing localization of ADF components and messages by skinning method with custom java resource bundle. For component keys (resource strings) part, localization is performing as expected.
The same file contains also localized org.apache.myfaces.trinidad. keys, but default English language trinidad messages are being displayed instead of localized, while keys related to the ADF components are displayed as correctly localized at the same time.

Is there a way to use/fix FLVPlayback skins provided with the product?

Some of the "skins" for the FLVPlayback component cannot be used as delivered in the Flash Professional CS5 package.
For instance, if you try simply to run the .swf file: MinimaSilverPlayBackSeekCounterVolMuteFull.swf in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Flash CS5/Common/Configuration/FLVPlayback skins/ActionScript 3.0, you get the following error message:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class fl.video::UIManager could not be found.
Such a skin cannot be used in a published application (though it will work within the Flash IDE in Test mode).
Not all the skins have this problem. However, at least all of the Minima prefixed ones do. Of course the one I wish to use is broken. Is there a way I can fix this? If I try to publish the corresponding .fla (in FLVPlayback skins/FLA/Action Script 3.0 I get "Warning: unable to load SWC FLVPlaybackAS2.swc".

Well I don't really understand the position you are taking here. Did you try to run the examples I gave?
I will be a sport, though, and back up here and explain more fully.
I had originally built a rather trivial application to experiment with the FLVPlayback component. I did this with AS-3, by the way.
As I tried different skins I found, strangely, that when I used one of the Minima ones (for instance, the one that I listed several times above), that it would run fine in the IDE in test mode, however when I ran the published application it would not run correctly. It generated instead this error message about the fl.video class not being found.
In trying to determine the cause of this, I found that this same error would be generated, just by trying to run the Minima skin (swf) in the Flash player by itself. And sure enough those skins that did NOT have the problem with my trivial app also did not generate any error when the swf was run in the Flash player.
So, as you hopefully can see, I took my application out of the equation here. The question of interest is why do some of the unmodified swf skin files generate the class not found error and can they be fixed (or is there anything I can do to fix them) so that error does not happen. I had even tried to use the original FLA file for the skin (as I described in my earlier post) and recompile it. However that caused a compile error (listed in the original post) that is indicative of some AS2 being mixed in, possibly from some sub-component.
So I guess all I was hoping for was that you would try to run the AS3 Minima...swf skin listed earlier straight from the product installation. Just run it with the Flash player. If it doesn't generate the error for you then perhaps there is something odd about my CS5 installation, or environment, or ...
If you don't want to try this, that is your perogative. Perhaps someone else can/will. Or perhaps I can submit this as a bug? (I do not know the mechanism for that)
I am not trying to be argumentative here. Rather, I have tried to isolate the issue. I don't know how else I can make this clear.

Broken wb and magenta tint shift on all my 30D images

Hi everybody...I know that there is another post regarding images going green...I read it all and tried to follow some of the listed suggestions but no success at all...I'm really in the middle of nowhere, don't know what to do to escape from this nightmare!.
All my Canon 30D images in Aperture 3 shows completely broken wb and magenta tint!...
I did not experience any of the problems during upgrading and import my previous library from Aperture 2...It was months ago...I decide to reprocess all my images because my intention was to start working and adjusting my photo after a period when I just "accumulated" them in projects and nothing else.
it wasn't like this a month ago, honestly I can't remember at which point all this happened...one month ago I did some jpeg export from a project and the images were ok, I mean the masters and the exported jpeg. I returned to Aperture to start performing some adjustments on few images here and there in different projects...and, horrible surprise, just reviewing some images recently imported I noticed the difference between the photo in the filmstrip and the one in the viewer...
I just run randomly on different projects and....disaster....the same broken wb and magenta tint..all of my 30D images, 350D shows correctly.
It shows "loading" for a second and then the image is turning with a heavy magenta cast on it...if I am in split view the image in the filmstrip shows correct wb while the one in the viewer is affected by the magenta tint.
If I press once M to show the master image I see this: for a second the image shows the correct wb then appears the magenta tint. I press M to quit the master view and the image is the same with magenta...and then again press M and there is no longer the brief "flash" showing the image with the right wb and no magenta tint.
I tried some of the solutions listed in other threads i.e. moving/deleting the Raw Decode plist file....repair and rebuild....nothing seems to work...I can't explain how I feel...I spent a lot of time to organize folders, projects albums, and now that finally I decided to start working on my photos I found them all broken.
This is happening on my iMac 20" alu with snow leopard 10.6.3 and the latest Aperture update 3.0.3...but also on my macbookpro 13" with the same os version and Aperture 3.0.2.
I don't know what to do...I love Aperture, i run it for long time on my Powerbook G4 (Aperture 2.1.4) and honestly I don't even want to think about switching to another software.
Anyone's help or suggestion are welcome. I want to fix this, I have to!.

first of all a huge and sincere "Thank you!" for your considerations and suggestions!.
Like I said in my previous post I found that some images shot with 30D now looks better...my first "samples" on the 30D images (I have around 3,500) shows that images not ever adjusted looks better, some images with adjustments done in Aperture 2 still looks good, others aren't...
BUT...some of the bad looking images that shows the magenta shift (light or heavy to purple) also have the white balance adjustment brick selected...I just deselect it and, bam!, the images turn back to the right white balance settings....well, maybe it's still not correct but at least was the "original" one, I mean that is the image wb setting since first import two years ago.
For this group of images, small at the moment, the additional "work" requested is to deselect the white balance adjustment brick to obtain the "old" image, ready to be processed with the new raw decoder, leading to a better result.....I really hope to find more and more of those images between those affected because it involves to deselect the brick and that's done.
Since now I have to say that the most affected are portraits/models images where skin tones now are rendered in a way that looks ipersaturated and completely unrealistic, thanks to the magenta shift.
Well, I can't say I'm happy with this, at least not "for free"! I mean I'll probably be happy right after some works on the images...my library at the moment is "compromised".
It needs work, and a lot of it, and this is not good, well the immediate reaction facing this new "challenge" it's far from being something "good". I'm happy to have a small library and so the extra work forced by the "corrected" 30D files handling looks, well, limited...I want to be positive, after a very very...VERY discouraging start!
Now, to the white bal card suggestion you gave...
Correct me if I'm wrong or did not understand what you wrote...you think that if now I shot a white bal card with 30D, import it in Aperture and use it for the magenta shifted images the big work is done? This, lift&stamp to the rescue, could be a huge timesaver!
Am I dreaming? Am I now into a too positive mood with this problem? Eh, eh...hope not!
I have an image shot to a white bal card but it was taken with the 350D because of it's inability to set a temperature in-camera, in a recent shooting involving studio flash and lights I set 3200K on the 30D with the proper menu setting and shot the white bal card with the 350D to have the most consistent result....but with 350D results were good even if I set a white balance choosed from the various in-camera options (cloudy, tungsten....).
Unfortunately I'll be abroad for work all next week, it will be impossible for me to work with my photos and playing with Aperture, today shops are closed so no white balance card...and I have lot of things to do at home, argh!.
Well, thank again for the kind suggestions and support, I really really thank you all!.
Of course I'll post immediately if I found something else on this matter, and to report progresses or else!.

Component not rendering in Stand Alone Skin editor

I downloaded the stand alone skin editor and I wanted to play around with it.
But I notice that my controls are not rendering.
Kindly see sample image that I am getting. Image
Not sure why, but I cant seem to see my changes even If I change it in my property inspector.

did you check the CSS source of the file to see if invalid styles are added. The visual editor is broken in the image, so there must be something causing it. Ifthe CSS was empty, would the editor render properly ?

Using ADF Faces Skins

I'm looking for a reference on deploying Skins with ADF Faces. The published howto on OTN is'nt very helpful because the sample code link is broken (See my previous post). The JDeveloper help files are somewhat helpful but I'm looking for a working example. I'm following the technique as implemented in SRDEMO but I must be missing something as my style sheet changes are not showing up.
It would be nice if someone from Oracle could look into fixing the link to the sample code for:

I think if I had a working example that allows skins to change at runtime I would be able to figure out what I'm missing. I have been trying access the link for a couple days now and no one has reponded to any of my requests.

seems to work for me.
In any case to change the skin you are using you change the adf-faces-config.xml file.
To get it to change at runtime - just put a reference to a value in a backing bean instead of the fixed "oracle" and then change the value in the bean at runtime.

Random line in skin

While developing training material via demonstration, we have
run across a problem. We have selected BlackGlass skin and modified
the color and progress bar. We have content slides at the beginning
and end that are static (similar to PowerPoint). When previewing or
viewing a published lesson, black lines (about a pixel wide) appear
at the top of the skin. We've changed skins, widened borders etc.
They do not show up all the time and they are only on slides
of captured images.
Sometimes they run across the screen and sometimes the line
is broken into random sizes.
They are always the same width and in the same position (at
the top of the skin).
We recreated our template as well and still get the lines.
Any suggestions?

I have had this happen to me in multiple modules I've made in
Cap2 & Cap3 - it is something that only appears on the
published SWF file. This (in my case) doesn't have anything to do
with the skin as it will appear with or without it. There does not
have to be any fullmotion, animation, or mouse clicks on the page
to make the lines appear and I have never been able to figure out
what causes them. Usually it is just on a couple random slides and
not detrimental to the module, so I just let them go. If someone
could figure out what causes them though - it would be awesome to
be able to prevent it!

Pentax K10D: Camera profiles, "ACR 4.x" vs "Pentax 1.00". Which one is broken?

Hardware: Pentax K10D, use DNG raw format.
Software: Pgotoshop CS3, ACR 4.5, Windows.
ACR allows me to select one of four profiles:
(1) ACR 4.4
(2) ACR 3.7
(3) Embedded
(4) Pentax 1.00
And results of this selection is dramatic. And strange, too.
I have one shot with XRtie ColorChecker.
I select "ACR 4.4" (default) profile and set white balance by second gray patch in raw (18% gray) with White Balance Tool. Color temperature is 8000 and tint is -20. Ok.
I select "ACR 3.7" profile, repeat WBT, and get same results. Ok.
I select "Pentax 1.00" profile, and get.... Temperature 11500K and Tint +75!
I know, that profiles change color rendering. It is ok.
But why these two (ACR 4.4 and 3.7 is almost the same) profiles change color rendering SO DIFFERENTLY? Color temperature is universal number, daylight is about 5500K, good flash is always 5500K, D65 light source is 6500K (6504K), etc.
I thought, that good profile should give good neutrals, and in case of controlled light, calculated (by gray patch) color temperature should correspond to light source.
I understand, that different profiles could render skin tones, cyans, shadows and highlights slightly differently, and there are many discussions, which profile is better. But 3500K difference is not "slight difference" and is not question like "I like skin tones with this profile more that ones with another"! Am I right?
It seems, that one of profiles is broken. Which one? Why difference is so huge?

Essentially embedded was broken, not in the colors, but in the white balance mappings. There was an issue with the white balance values in the profiles originally embedded in the Pentax DNG files. As long as you do a click-WB __AFTER__ choosing your profile, the actual colors should be fine (but won't and aren't expected to match the ACR 4.4/3.7 rendering exactly).

Javafx 8 b87 through current b89 broken on OSX

JavaFX appears to be broken on OSX in reason jdk builds (87, 88, 89). The applications run but the scaling/skinning appears wrong and extremely oversized. I checked on Windows 7 and 8 and everything appears fine. This is true of the simple Hello World app to the Ensemble app. Does anyone know if this will be fixed in b90? I haven't found anything in the bugs about this which I think is strange since it's been broken for awhile now.

I've seen reports that recent builds don't scale well on MacBook Pro retina displays. I have a MacBook Air which is unaffected by scaling issues. It's a temporary glitch which will be fixed in a future build. Just keep using an older build till it's fixed. A new build is released each week that you can test to see if it has been fixed. I think some of the JavaFX developers have retina pro machines, so they are likely to fix it sooner than later.

Is my graphic card broken?

Just returned to my computer (iMac G5), woke it up and found that menues and transparent areas in the OS looked weird:

Have tried to restart, uninstall OS-skin-enhancers etc but it doesn't change.
HOWEVER, the problem was solved when I booted in "safe mode". The 256 colors mode still looked weird, but it was all good in Millions colors.
Anyone who can help me out?

I have something quite similar with mine, well, even more frightening than beakid's screenshots actually.
So I ran the Apple Hardware Test and I got the following error code:

...sounds like my video card is in trouble...
but anyone knows what that means exactly? is it actualli broken or is there just something wrong with its memory?

Disable default skins

Hey guys,
Just wondering if there is any way I can disable all the default skins thus forcing the users to use my custom skin.
Either removing all skins from the list or disabling the changing of skins will work fine. I just can't figure out how to do either.

The links you provided does not describe how to disable skins.No, the other just describes how to adjust it.
I do also wonder why there is 26k lines in the default skin.There is a sentence: "ADF uses a concept called Skin Selectors to associate styles with particular ADF components." I read it as before you disable something (a skin selector), you should be aware of what gets broken. Note that if you allow customizations/personalizations via Composer you might not know in ahead which components will users add to their pages in runtime.

Need help with WebHelp skins - top nav button padding

I'm working on a csutom skin for a client, and I'm running into a couple prioblems.
The top nav area, Contents, Index etc etc has been made but between the buttons I get spacing. All around them infact, above, below and between. The main issue is the spacing between the buttons, its causing me problem because the buttons when all joined have a banner of text reading across them, with this spacing it of course looks broken and seperated.. Im sure I've taken it out before, but I cant seem to do it.
Any help greatly appreciated!!!

There are two approaches. You'll have to check which one works for you:
1. position the buttons only
2. position the entire table with the buttons.
1. If you only position the buttons, you’ll leave the rest of the rendering intact. Open whtbar.js and go to line 278, the function getImage. On line 290 there’s a line sI+=”border=0 align=\”absmiddle\”>”;. Replace this line with:
      sI+=" border=0 align=\"absmiddle\" ";
      if(gbIE == false)//Not Internet Explorer
            sI+="style=\"position: relative; top: -1px; ";
      sI+=">";
Replace the value -1px until it renders correct.
2. The second option is to completely move the table. In whtbar.js, go to line 148, the function writeStyle. On line 247, replace sStyle+="margin:2px;}\n"; with:
sStyle+="margin:2px;";
      if(gbIE == false)//Not Internet Explorer
            sStyle+="position: relative; top: -1px;";
      sStyle+="}\n";
Two notes:
·         Both modifications target all browsers other than Internet Explorer. To target specific browsers, check the variables you can use in whver.js.
·         Changing either one of these functions will also change the minibar! So double check for the desired result! Hope this helps.

Air Help topic navigation links broken

I've logged this as a bug, but was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem.
When generating the "Air Help and Browser Based Help" output format (and uploading the browser files to the web server and installing the AirHelp application), the navigation links that appear above the help window and below the search bar/navigation buttons are broken. The example below shows the uni-pane template, but the problem occurs with all templates.
Upon clicking the first or second topic link (in the red circled area), this displays "The page cannot be found" and the navigation links themselves disappear.
I noticed that the problem only exists when the topics in the Project Manager are organized into subfolders. If all the topics in the Project Manager reside in the top-level folder, the links navigate properly. Also, the links are only clickable when in online mode, not in local mode. I've been unable to either disable the navigation links entirely, or make them un-clickable in online mode.
I'm running RH9, Windows 7 (64-bit).
Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure what the problem is at this stage but I don't think it is a bug as no one else has hit the problem.
Please open one of the sample projects and generate some AIR help from that to establish the links work there. That rules out a bug and tells us it is something in your project. What it is will still need to be determined but we will know we are looking in the right place.
Probably the first thing I would do is apply another skin and not make any changes to the default.
Post back how you get on. I'm going offline soon but will pick up your reply tomorrow if no one else has waded in.
