Skip Count

Does anyone know how to "fix" the skip count on iTUNES? It seems that it works fine until I sync my Nano and then I get crazy counts like 1024 and 532. Anyone else experiencing this?

iTunes doesn't seem to keep track of songs I "skip" on my nano. However, my wife's shuffle seems to account for an insane number of skips, such as 1230 and other similarly ridiculous numbers.

  • How can I get the skip count to work on my iPhone?

I continue to keep looking for the answer to this question however, it's seems that I continue to keep running into a wall.  I have several of my smart playlists that rely on monitoring the skip counts.  I never had an issue until I upgraded from a touch to an iPhone.  What's the deal?  This phone can do everything and anything imaginable but it can' keep a skip count.  Has anyone figure out how to fix this, or am I going to be waiting like everyone else for apple to fix the issue?  Help!!!! This is frustrating.

  • Podcast skip count doesn't work

    Hi
Pretty simple question, I hope the solution is as simple (a button I'm not checking?); when I press com-arrow in a smart playlist with music, the skip count is advanced. But with podcasts it doesn't.

I experienced exactly the same, using Itunes 8 in combination with a Ipod nano 4G. Both in skipping podcasts in iTunes and via my ipod do not work with the podcast.
I hope this can be solved somehow, it would greatly improve listening to podcasts experience in the car using smart playlists (with skipping = removing filter).

  • Itunes 7 displays incorrect Skip Count values

Using iTunes7,0 Mac and a 2GB 1st Gen iPod Nano
When I connect the nano, the skip count for songs that already have a (>1) skip count gets something like doubled.
For instance song X has a skip count equal to 8.
I connect the nano, then song X skip count now equals 16.
    Looks like a bug no?
By the way, it seems that songs that I skip (within the 1" - 20" window) on the nano dont update their skip count in itunes, on the other hand, songs that I skip on my other G5 ipod have their skip count updated.

    Installed version 7,0,1
    Problem still exists

  • Skip counts in iTunes not registering

For the past month or so, iTunes does not register skipped songs on my iPhone or iPad when I sync. All are latest software versions. Skip counts register when I skip a song in iTunes and play counts register on all devices. This makes most of my smart playlists pointless. Any ideas? Thanks.

Which particular Windows OS are you using, Goderic? XP, Vista or 7?

  • Last Skipped Date, Skip count, are not updated in any songs that i listen in my iPhone5s

I've been using smart playlist that's relays on the play count, last skipped date and skipped count fields... I have been using an old ipod to heard my music through this smart playlist that live updates all the time and it was working great.
So my issue is, since i bought a new iPhone 5S and start using it to listen music, my smart playlist that relays on " play count, last skipped date, skipped count " fields are not updating, and when i connect my iphone to the PC i realize that those fields never update after i play or skip any song in my iPhone.
So, I'm not sure if this is an iPhone restriction, that i need to use my iPod again to get my smart playlist that relys on those fields to work... or my iphone is defective and need to re-install the iOS.
Any help on this matter will be enormously appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I think this is how it's intended, though there isn't much info on this feature. I've seen the same behavior and other users have reported same.
One thing that threw me off for a bit using this feature was trying to use with playlists where the songs had "remember playback position" checked. Last skipped doesn't register at all with these tracks.

  • What is "reset skip count"?

What is the "reset skip count" setting for? I can't seem to figure it out through experimentation, and it's not mentioned (that I can find) in iTunes help.
Not an emergency, I'm just curious. (If it matters--right-clicking on podcasts, iTunes 7.1.1)

I guess the newer versions of iTunes not only keeps track of Play Counts, but also keeps track of songs you skip when they start playing. I assume this is so you can look and find out which songs you routinely skip when they start and may want to just remove from the iPod or library. So the reset skip count command would simply set that count back to zero just like the reset play count resets the play count back to zero.

  • Counter is skipping counts

I am using a GPCTR with NIDAQ 6.9.3 on a MIO-16XE-50. I have a motor with a sensor on it that sends a digital pulse based on revolutions. I am using VB6.0 to watch this counter and using it to trigger data conversions. Intermittently, that is, with no pattern or consistency, the counter will skip counts. I know the VB loop isn't too slow, and I've tried slowing the motor down. Any idea as to what is causing this to happen? I've tried adding a low-pass filter to the signal, thinking it was glitchy, but that didn't help.
any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any buffering between your sensor and the 16-XE-50? I have noticed that these cards do not behave well if the source impedence is high. You should put a Schmitt trigger between your motor signal and the card. I assume you have checked things like switching levels to make sure your signal is switching a full 0-5V or close to it. I have done a fair bit of work with the GPCTR's on that card and will help further if you need it.

  • Skip count ipod and itunes; rating podcasts

Does anyone know why itunes only registers a skiped song when it is done on itunes? If I skip a song on my ipod and synce it up to itunes later it does not register a skip count for that particular song.
In another unrealed question. How come i can not rate podcasts on the ipod? I would much rather have the ability to rate a podcast than look at all the detailed podcast info? Is there a fix for this?

Yes. I would start by redownloading these tracks if they cannot be played either in iTunes or on your iPod.

  • Skip count on the iPhone?

Does anyone know whether you can use the "skip count" feature the Apple incorporated into iTunes 7? I'd like to be able to skip a song on my iPhone, sync to iTunes, and have iTunes show that the song has been skipped.
The "Play count" syncing features appears to work on the iPhone, but I can't get the "Skip count" to sync. I've tried various approaches to get iTunes to recognize my skipped songs on my iPhone (e.g., making sure I skipped the track before 20 seconds elapsed, tapping the next button on the iPhone to skip ahead, etc.), but nothing has worked for me so far.
    Any ideas?
    iPhone 8GB   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Is anyone else wanting the "skip count" or "last skipped" feature on their iPhone? Right now, the iPhone doesn't keep track of that song data; therefore, when you sync with iTunes, the application doesn't record whether you skipped any songs while listening with your iPhone. Many of my smart playlists don't work well without that function.
I wonder if the new iPod Touch will have the feature. It seems like the whole iPod lineup should have the same functions available.
How can the iPhone (and maybe the iPod Touch) be the "best iPod ever" if it doesn't have this useful feature that other iPods have?

  • Skip Count not counting

So my iPod (2nd Gen) isn't syncing the skip count to iTunes and I was wondering how I can fix this. I have done a full restore on the iPod, which did help solve my issue. Anyone have any suggestions? Need more info, let me know.

Hi Peongreeny, did you get this to work? most of the threads talk about iphone, but I'm having the same problem on my ipod.
if you have news, and share, I'll appreciate.
    tks!

  • Cannot sync Last Skipped and Skip Count

I have a 1st-gen iPod Nano with the latest firmware (1.3) and the latest iTunes (7.0.2) but when I sync the Nano, the Last Skipped and Skip Count fields are not updated on any of the songs I've skipped. There seem to be many people complaining about this so can you please get a fix asap?

  • ITunes' Skip Count only works with some of my iPods

iTunes does not count songs skipped on my 1st generation Nano, 2nd generation Nano, or iPhone. It does count songs skipped during play on my computer or from my 1st generation Shuffle. When I took my 1st generation Nano to the Apple Store they got iTunes to count a skip, but I haven't been able to recreate this feat. Is this something dependent on settings, or is it a glitch of some sort?

    Ok. Here's my problem:
I've written a java applet and it works fine with the
    appletviewer.
But it doesn't work with IE 5.5 with JRE 1.4.0 (But
I'm not sure if it's the browser's fault).
It works on a Linux PC with Netscape. (Not sure about
the plugin)...I bet the IE 5.5 is NOT using the Java Plug-in (what you're calling JRE 1.4.0), but is likely using IE's Microsoft JVM. You need to either make the hosting HTML explicitly tell it to use the Plug-in (via the <OBJECT...> tag instead of the <APPLET...> tag), or configure the plug-in to be used as the default JVM for the browser.

  • Does Apple have any planes to fix skip count on the itouch?

When I skip a song on my itouch and sync it later, the songs I skipped don't show as being skipped. This makes almost all of my smart playlist useless! I used to buy songs every Tuesday until i noticed my Itouch was playing songs i was tired of and had skipped many times. I hope it gets fixed soon.

NO, I'm not talking about the play count. The play count works fine. I use a smart playlist that says don't play songs i have skipped in the last year. When I skip a song on my itouch then sync the itouch to my itunes playlist no songs show that they have been skipped. If i skip a song in itunes it shows that it has been skipped. I've tried skipping songs on my itouch from 1sec to 45 sec and not once does it show that a song has been skipped.
This feature has worked for years, but stoped sometime last year and hasn't worked on any of the 3 ipods that I currently own. It must be an software issue. I have seen others complain about it, but no response from Apple about it.

  • Skip Count stopped working in iTunes 8?

None of my songs have registered a skip since upgrading to iTunes 8. Anyone else having this problem? Any workarounds found?

Moss930 .. gonna take a chance and see if you .. anyone has solved this.  I have the same configuration Windows 8 PC, 11.0 up to date version.  I was getting a system sound at wierd times and concurrently the file would stop playing.  Here is what I did .. I changed the system sound for "Device Connect" and made it something totally recognizable.  Typical email sound and other error sounds .. no problem.  It is something linked to "Device Connect".  I have checked devices linked to my system and external hard drive is one.  If I connect iPad/iPod than it happens more often.  The entire system is only days old.  All new.  Not sure what to do or can be done.  So .. did you get this to work (April post) or just putting up with it?
