Skip Folder/ MuVo TX

Hello im a st time mp3 player buyer and new at the forum here so sorry if this is a double post. I looked long and hard and couldnt find anything. My brother had the original muvo without the backlight or the display. He left it in his pants pocket and put it through the washer and it came out working. So I decided I wanted one too. I bought the tx fm. Problem is that my player supports the skip folder function but I dont knmow how to set it up. It is only 256mb but I still hate skipping 00 times just to get to a song. I couldnt find the instructions in my manual or creatives online support. Please help. And my opinion. The muvo tx fm rocks. It isnt fancy but the beauty lies in it's simplicity. Only thing that sucks is I go through batteries like water. I use it all the time so i turned the backlight to 3 seconds and I only get like 0hrs non continual playback. If the skip folder function is what I think it is then I hope it will save me some battery life.

Skip Folder just allows you to jump to a different folder - it is a Skip To Folder function really.
Use Windows to set up a folder structure on your player and transfer your files into these folders. Then press the scroll button, select Skip Folder and then move it left and right to go to the folder you want.
See the link below to download manuals - they have more detail than the printed copy.

  • Can't surf my folders using 'skip folder' on a Zen Nano P

    . So frustrating! Please advise.

    Hi!
Are there any updates on this issue? Obviously, I'm facing the same here.
I have three folders (Misc/New/Soundtrack) with no subfolders at all.
All three folders are shown while using the Windows Explorer - however, when using the Nano Plus, only "New" and "Soundtrack" can be choosen. The "Misc" folder disappears then.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Muvo N200/Zen Nano Folder switch

Bear with me i'm a "newbie"
I've organised my music into folders on my N200 off the root by Artist and Album
What is the correct way to switch between folders on Music Mode playback? The only way i can see to do it is to hold in the scroll button which i think takes me to the skip folder screen (I may be wrong) finding the folder i want to playback and pressing play (not the scroll button). If this screen is the skip folder screen and I mistakenly press the scroll button again I will skip the folder which from what i can gather there is no way back from. My point is that isn't that rather inconvenient as your thumb is already on the button you really don't want to press.
Of course i may have gotten it all wrong so correct me if you will.

    Hi thejudge
Don't press in and hold the scroll button, just press it once to show the options, then again to select Skip Folder. You then flick the scroller backwards and forwards to move in each direction through the folders - flick forwards = next folder, flick back = previous folder etc.
Mine then plays the first track in each folder as you skip to it - if you press the scroller again it will go back to the normal screen and show the current track.

I may be being a bit stupid :smileytongue: but doesn't that skip the folder so it isn't played?

  • Backlight broken on Muvo S

    Hi All,
The backlight doesn't work on my Muvo Slim. This is my 2nd one, the first one's backlight also didn't work
On both of them, I upgraded to the latest firmware (..03) so that I could format with FAT32 and enable cue\review, however, I think that the firmware may have damaged the backlight.
I emailed tech support, and they say that the firmware would not have damaged the backlight, and to return the player. I have a hard time believing that I got 2 defecti've Muvo Slims, that both lost their backlighting after I installed the firmware.
So, anybody else experience this too? Are there any fixes?
I would like to try re-loading the firmware that it came with to see if that helps, but it's not available on the website.
Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? ( not to state the obvious, but the backlighting IS NOT OFF, it's on 5 sec)
    Thanks.
EDIT: OK, I downloaded the UK firmware, which has the same version number, but the .exe's filename had a - at the end. Don't know if they are the same. Anyway, after the firmware updated, I unplugged the player from the PC, and it turned on by itslef (like usual) and the backlight wasn't on. I went to the menu, turned it off, and shut the player off. I then turned the player back on, went to the menu and turned the backlight back on, and IT WORKS!!!Message Edited by saber_pv on 04-23-2005 07:53 PM

I don't think you can. You can only skip by track. I'm not sure if there's a skip folder function on the Slim, but the manual should confirm either way.

  • Please can anyone test this for me? V200 and Repeat Folder play m

    Hi
Does anyone here use the play mode called Repeat Folder?
I have selected this play mode and it works fine, but how do you
    then change/skip to another folder?
If I try then the unit gets confused and goes from
my folder called DireStraits of 2 to DireStraits 2of2
instead of to U2 2 of 2. Sometimes I can get it to skip
to another folder by scrolling in the other direction but
basically it does not allow me to skip to another folder.
So, what I have to do is change to Normal mode say,
then skip to another folder (which works just fine) and
then turn the play mode back Repeat Folder.
I think this is a buglet?
Can anyone else confirm this behaviour or confirm that they
get normal behaviour once the play mode is set to Repeat Folder.

Hi will77,Can you describe what happens if you are in "repeat-folder" mode and select "skip folder" and then scroll to the left or right?
Thanks a lot. Yes. if I scroll right then it goes to the next folder (sometimes) or
jumps a folder or misses one or goes nowhere sometimes, and if I select the folder
it does go to, then it show the track name, but I cannot play it, hitting play
pause play does nothing. If I scroll to the left then I sometimes can get to the folders
it does not show when I scroll right, but again, if I select the folder presented to me
the track will not play. Also I think sometimes it gets confused and does not know whether
to scroll along folder by folder or scroll along track by track within a folder.
    Any ideas?
Any MuVo V200 users out there then?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Muvo V100 new owner help ple

I've downloaded and read the manual and searched and read every muvo thread here. I'm clearly missing something that must be very simple.
I have 4 albums in folders named by artist in the root directory. None in libraries A-C. Also in the root folder is a folder named LRC, one named mymusic2 one named recorded tracks.
When I turn on the player there is nothing that looks like a file browser- nothing that shows what cds are on the player. All it shows is information about the specific song that's playing. None of the icons or settings seem to show information about the name or content of any of the folders or even of the muvo itself. The only way I've found to go from one cd to another is to move song by song until I get to the first song on another album. That might be ok with only 4 albums but if I put a few more albums on I'd end up forwarding through over 00 songs just to get to the last album. I tried the skip folder icon but nothing changed- I assume because they are all in the root folder. I've looked at all the settings etc and can't figure out what to do.
From what I read here, others have folders by artist and seem to be able to identify contents. I have several other mp3 players so I'm not completely ignorant about them but this one is beyond me.
What am I doing wrong? I can still return it but I'd like to see if I can get it to work first.

If you press in the scroller button you should get to the menu. Select Skip Folder and you should see a folder name with x/y after it where x is the number of the current folder out of a total of y folders. Press the scroller left or right to go through the folders - only the folders with music files in will show. Press the scroller in to select the folder you want. PB

  • Can I Organize music in Artists and Albums on my MuVo N2

I can only play music on the "root" of my MP3 player (MuVo N200). Can anyone tell me if organizing i possible?
I have discovered a menuitem called "Skip Folder". When I go there, A Root folder i shown, but I can not select anything here. Can anyone tell me what this is about?
    Regards Preben

    STOP!
You can use MuVo N200 Media explorer, and click the button "Sort Different" or something, and than you can sort ALL your tracks on:
    Artist</LI>
    Number on CD</LI>
    Track Name</LI>
    Lenght</LI>
Even the album name, if i'm not wrong</LI>
You can install the explorer from your N200 CD-Rom and download it. You'll have to connect your N200 to the computer, offcource :smileyvery-happy:.
You can sort them with the folders also ofcource, but I think its a lot of work to search for each track the artist, when its written in the info. Than creating folders for EACH artist, and putting them into it... think my Media Explorer works faster.
PS: The Media explorer will put numbers for your MP3 names, but you won't see them while playing back, they are recognised by your player.

  • Muvo N200 switching o

Hi, My Muvo n200 switches off when I scroll through my music folders. I have had the player for 3 days and it was ok at first.
Now when I switch it on, go to skip folder and scroll through the folders it just switches its self off.
It is not the battery. Also some times I switch on and light comes on , I get the CREATIVE logo followed by muvo n200 logo then it switches off .
Is there a fix for this problem or do I have a dud ?
I can scroll through the options menu ok.
    Thank you for any help.
    Mike

    Mike,
Try formatting it and loading the new firmware onto it. If it's still the same, you should contact Customer Support as there could be a problem with your player.

Oh, i have the same problem, my MuVo turns off. Now I'm really happy to hear that i can solve it! But there is another problem. A week ago I've had already brought it back to the store, in order it would be checked. And i'm still waitining for an answer what is really happened to my muvo. What should i do now? They (technical support) will be looking for the problem inside of my player, when i could solve this problem simply with the installing of ware. Help me! Schould i call them? Or the repair service should know about this ware and installs it without me?

  • "no music" displayed on muvo v

My muvo MP3 player has the music loaded onto it (I can play it on my PC via the USB port), but when I unplug it and turn on the player, it displays the words?'no music'. I'm sure the answer to this problem?is already somewhere in this forum, but I tried searching for the exact phrase 'no music' via the advanced search and it said it was discarding the word 'no' from my search because it was too common of a word ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?So, does anyone here no the answer to this problem I am having. I'm sure I'm not the first person to encounter this. John?

Never mind..... I done figured it out myself. All my music was in the root folder. Somehow my player was?looking into one of the A, B, C subfolders which had 'no music' in them. After hitting the Skip Folder icon a couple times to navigate back to the root folder, I was able to see (and play) my music again.

  • Quick MuVo V100 Quest

Just a couple of quick questions about the MuVo V00 (the new 2gb one).
On the CNET review page it says this:
"Digital player playback modes: Repeat shuffle"
This player DOES use menus and stuff right? It's like an ipod shuffle that just plays things out of order, etc?
Also does anyone know if this player ONLY uses id3 tags? It says they're supported but personally I prefer folder browsing and I'm wondering if this player offers it.
Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated, I assure you.
Thanks!Message Edited by snaithbert on --200606:34 PM

It has a number of play modes including shuffle/random modes. If it is like the rest of the MuVo players then browsing is by folder using the Skip Folder function from the menu. ID3 tags are used for track title display. PB

  • V100 and the Library fold

    hi everybody,
this post is actually dedicated to provide a better solution for the way folders are handled in V00, do creative people actually read here?
I preferred the old way (v200) how folders were handled because of only one thing, I use my MP3 player when I am jogging, where I have the player in my pocket. Now what I do is without looking use the wheel to navigate to the folder I want. I find the correct folder by hearing the first track. This doesn't work here anymore, because while skipping folders within a library, you don't hear the first track. So it is impossible to find the folder without looking at the display.
A good solution would be to reactivate this feature, or let the user chose to activate it from the settings menu.
Or you could let us create our own libraries, because libraries do have the possibiliy to listen to the first track.
On the other hand, this feature may be appreciated by people who do look at the display while switching around. But they could pause the player while skipping. The best thing would be if we could deactivate this feature and activate it from the settings menu.
I would love it if you would switch back to the old way

    Similar question...
I have older Creative products (muvo TX FM, nano Plus, muvo slim).
I often want to find out which directory (folder) I'm currently listening
to. In my older products, I'd click on 'Skip Folder', and then it would show
the name of the folder I'm *currently* listening to. In those players, only a single
directory level was supported. So, if I had directories
    'booka_disk0'
    'booka_disk02'
    'booka_disk03'
    'booka_disk04'
and I suppose I was listening to file 'track6.mp3' in folder 'booka_disk03'...
When I start the player from a stop, it would go to the current spot of 'track6.mp3' of folder 'booka_disk03'. I'd only see 'track6.mp3' on the display, but if I wanted to find out which folder I was in, I simply scrolled to 'Skip Folder' and it would show me 'booka_disk03'.
Now with my v00, there is a forced extra level of directories. So my file system looks like (I put my audio book in 'library A'):
    'root'
    'library A'
    ' booka_disk0'
    ' booka_disk02'
    ' booka_disk03'
    ' booka_disk04'
    'library B'
    'library C'
When I start the player from a stop, it still goes to the correct spot:
    library A/booka_disk03/track6.mp3
But I only see on the display, track6.mp3. I use my old trick of scrolling to the 'Skip Folder' to find out what folder I'm in. I see 'Library A'. I scroll into it, and see booka_disk0, the first disk in the directory. *Not* booka_disk03, the current folder.
So I don't really have any way to find out what folder I'm in.
My suspicion is that this player doesn't fully support directories in levels below the 'library A' level. Which is kind of bad, since the OS forces you to do this.
If someone knows a way to find a the current folder, I'd be grateful.
    Thanks in advance

  • Zen Nano Plus: Can I make folde

    52MB
According to the software program, I have 2 books in a Book folder and a bunch of songs in a Music folder. In the device however, both books and songs are in Music.
Can I separate the books and music into different folders on the device so I can find the books easily?
    ty,
    Tom

    Hi PeeBee,
Thanks. I didn't realize about the Skip Folders function. I just did it, saw Folder of 2(Books), moved to 2 of 2(Music), and couldn't get back to Folder .
Then I turned the player off and on again. I went to Skip Folder. It's in Folder 2 (Music). When I try to skip to Folder it's cycling between songs, not folders.
My battery is almost dead. I wonder if that has anything to do with this malfunction(?)?
Also, I have been able to get to my books and Music all along without even realizing there were different folders or changing folders. How is that?
I try it again when I put in a fresh battery.

  • 8 Folder Limit For Nano Plus

No matter what I do, my Zen Nano Plus Gb will not access more than 8 folders in total. "Skip Folder" is always ( to 8) of 8 once the number of folders exceeds 8. All the folders show up in Windows Explorer and contain mp3 files, all with the same sample rate. There is no mention of folder structure or limits in the operating instructions I have.
    Is this a bug?
Firmware was .0.04 and is now ..0, which makes no difference to the problem.

Ive just checked my nano which is the same as yours.
When i click on the skip folder it shows of 9..meaning it can access more than 8 folders. I have 9 folders on my nano.
It cud be a bug -maybe try a reset or something. Or maybe delete all the folders and then put them back in and see if it works. Might be a corruption in the files in a folder?
