In Finder something called 'vuuno' has suddenly appeared under Shared. I didn't knowingly connect and want to remove. Worried I've been hacked or something. What is this and how to remove permanently?

If you are using an unsecured or shared wireless network, then it could be just another user's computer name. If your sharing settings are correct, you have no worry. However, It would appear that at least some of the other user's settings are less than optimal inasmuch as his/hers is openly being displayed.
The next time you check into a hotel and use their wireless network, you are likely to see a number of other user's computers. Some just the name, as they share no files. While others are wide open, and their file sharing is on.

  • Keep getting pop up adds. how to remove malware

Using Crome keep getting pop up adds. ***?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
If Chrome is the only browser affected, you installed a malicious Chrome extension.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • Accidently pressed "Never for this website", how to remove?

I use the auto fill feature to remember login information for many sites. Recently, on one site (aol), when posting an alternate login, I accidently pressed the "Never for this website" when asked to save the alternate login information. Now, the site will not remember the original login information. How do I remove the "Never for this website" designation for this site, so it will remember the login in again?

I'm not using 10.5, but the fix should be very similar.
Open Keychain Access and in the search field, type aol. You should see a list of all keychains for aol. The one for aol.com should say "Passwords not saved".
    Delete that keychain.
The next time you visit aol.com, you should get the option to save the the login info.
Should you later wish to not save an alternate login info, choose "Not at this time" instead of "Never...".
    Hope this helps.

  • [Question] How to remove baby blue text chat bubbl...

My Skype for Windows (windows 7), just updated to the latest version 6.22.0.107. With this update Skype has completely changed the look and feel of the entire interface giving it a light blue overlay on everything.
I was wondering if there is any way to remove the light blue chat bubbles that now show up surrounding all text messages sent or received?
I would prefer the old simple black and white standard text message layout of the previous version of skype. I find that the light blue bothers my vision and makes it more difficult for me to read my messages and follow the conversation.
Thanks for any help with this issue.

    How to remove them:
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.21.0.104.msi
The Skype design will as all other designs evolve. Look at for instance MS office, the 2003 version looks nothing like the 2007 one and beyond. Reasons for this; ribbons made people more productive (according to designers).
The design quirk now, is devices, all for now 3 of them phones, pads, and Computers. Crossplattform design is not an easy task, and will offcourse cause design changes.
That said, chat bubbles and the like are a new Skype thing, is it good, we don't know yet. When I had my old Nokia phone, I laughted off the iBubbles, now I'm om Android, and used to them.
Would I prefer the old msg style? Yes, most likely, but I do manage to have fun in the new one (phone).

  • How to remove Adware that is driving me crazy?

I downloaded a movie player and ended up with some Adware that is driving me crazy!  It opens a new tab with a random advertisement whenever I click on a 'submit' button or some other link.  It's been happening on sites that did not normally exhibit this behavior in the past.  The ads range from Mackeeper pro 2.0 to Sexy Latina girls.  Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to remove it?  I'm using Safari 8.0 with Yosemite.

Yes, you have accidentally installed some sort of adware. The fastest, most effective way to identify and optionally remove all currently known adware is by using AdwareMedic, developed by thomas_r. this Forum's malware guru, owner of TheSafeMac and a colleague of mine.
If it turns out to be the Downlite adware, then they have managed to block your access to that site and you will need to use an alternate technique as described in About the Downlite adware.
To understand why this happened an how to avoid such things in the future read John Galt's How to install adware.

I used to be able to attach a document to an iCal entry.   After the latest update, it appears this option has been removed.  How can I add an attachment now?  Thanks!

    Hi Dan,
Yes, iCal 4.0.4 (1395.7). In edit mode, the 'attachments' option is between 'Invitees' and 'URL' (see below). As I said this is for calendars under On My Mac, I suspect you are not seeing this as your event is on MobileMe.

  • I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now ALL of my songs sounf d like skipping records.  How do I get rid of this or completely remove the new version that I downloaded???

I booted up my computer and opened up my usual shortcuts.  I got a message from iTunes that a new version was available and would I like to download it.  I clicked on "yes".  It took over 1/2 hour to download and now ALL of my songs sound like a skipping record or like they are tripping over themselves.  I uninstalled the ITunes and tried reinstalling my old version.  I've tried EVERYTHING I could think of to get my old version back but everytime I go through the download process I get a message saying that - the file "iTunes Library.itl "cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.  I was finally able to download a version that will open but it has the same "skipping" problem.  How do I stop/fix this or COMPLETELY get rid of this version of iTunes and re-download what I had???  I'm REALLY distressed.      Jim

Usually, the exclamation mark tells you that the song was not where the program expected to find it. It may also mean that there was an error with the file itself.
If you click on the exclamation mark, it may give you a reason. You can also double click the file to make it play. If the file is not found, it will tell you. Just follow the prompts to look for the song again. It will ask you if you want to look for the other missing songs in the same folder. You can do it, but unfortunately, the last few updates have made the program blind to the songs that are there and you sometimes have to do the same process for each song.
If neither of these help, I would suggest starting from scratch and reinstalling iTunes. I have had to do that before. Do your best to back up the library and such first.
Sometimes a computer will rename a hard disk (Windows) and all the songs on that disk will be gone to iTunes because it will think it's looking in the right place. It can't recognize that the hard disk or partition has been renamed.
I know that this is a podcast, but the principle is the same. A dialogue box should pop up to tell you just what the problem is.
       I hope this helps!

  • How do I get rid of browser virus called Iminent, which installs as add-on, when remove button is disabled?

    I have firefox 20.0.1
This iminent thing must have ridden in on some download but it is all over the browser trying to put up spammy stuff in facebook, gmail, pinterest. I t may be partially blocked by some other add-ons like adblock-plu or better privacy, but it is there creating spurious toolbars on all my social sites and with little popout side windows.
I ran Malwarebytes and it found nothing.
I tried to follow these instructions from http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-the-search-iminent-search-the-web-hijacker-virus/#Firefox
    to remove it:
    Step 1:
Open Firefox, and navigate to Tools -> Add-ons (Ctrl+Shift+A).
    Step 2:
Select Extensions and find the particular Search Iminent Search The Web Toolbar extension, and click disable and remove.
BUT the "remove" button was absent.
I tried to follow these instructions to remove Iminent cookie:
How to block the Iminent.com cookie
1.From the Tools menu, select Options
2.In the upper section of the Options window, click Privacy
3.In the Cookies tab, click Exceptions
    4. In the new Exceptions – Cookies window, enter Iminent.com in the Address of Website field and click Disable.
BUT there was no "cookie tab."

Yes all that happened to me [but on FB as I rarely use twitter] . It was browser hijacking. I even commented about it on FB but no one saw the images except me.

I've tried to look thru your sql and changed it a bit. Of course not testet :-)
Your problem isn't the archive table! I tried to remove the 2 selects from the select-clause. Furthermore you have a lot of nested loops in your explain, which is a performance-killer. Try getting rid of them, perhaps use /*+ USE_HASH(?,?) */.

  • How can I add the "Profile Removal Password Payload"  to a configuration Profile?

How can I add the “Profile Removal Password Payload”  to a configuration Profile?
I’m not seeing an option to add this option when I edit the configuration profile within Apple Configurator.
Do I have to edit the configuration profile(xml file) within a text editor?
    FYI:
    https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/featuredarticles/iPhoneConfigurationProf ileRef/Introduction/Introduction.html
    Profile Removal Password Payload
The Removal Password payload is designated by specifying com.apple.profileRemovalPassword value as the PayloadType value.
A password removal policy payload provides a password to allow users to remove a locked configuration profile from the device. If this payload is present and has a password value set, the device asks for the password when the user taps a profile's Remove button. This payload is encrypted with the rest of the profile.

You have found where it is stored in Thunderbird?
Delete it. When Thunderbird needs it again, it will ask you for it.
