Skip to a point in progressive download mp3 before downloaded
Is it possible these days to skip to a point within a progressive download mp3, before this point has preloaded, similar to what i'm seeing with video players such as youtube? in the past, i've used FMS to achieve this, was wondering how people achieved this without using a streaming server.

S5 Email how can I download attachments before downloading attachments?
Using my Samsung S5 email app I get an email with a PDF attachment. I scroll to the bottom of the email to "load (or see) details". Then I touch the attachment and it scrolls to the right where I can either Preview or Download the PDF. touching either option results in the following Warning message, "You must first download the message to download the attachment." No matter what I do it keeps telling me the same thing. I have to download the message before I can view or download the attachment, but there's no where to download the message. My mind works like this, if I touch the download button, that means I want to download it, so download it already, don't tell I need to download it!!!
Are you sure the message is all the way downloaded? Sometimes if it's a lengthy message I have to scroll down to let all of the message load. When I click the paper clip at the top of the message and select download I don't get that error it just downloads the attachment. Mary

How To: Create Download Mp3 Link
Hello fellow flash users-
I have been building my website in flash and have a simple
question that I cannot figure out for some reason (maybe its too
simple) . Anyhow I have uploaded my mp3 songs of my music and used
the geturl and _blank so that when someone clicks on my link the
music opens right into thier quicktime player (if on mac) or
windows media player (if on pc). I want the user to be able to
download the mp3 to there computer (ie like a normal download
window appears stating "do you want to download this file to disk"
is there some other code or line I need to add ???? It seems so
simple? I would really appreciate the help as I have tried a number
of things with no success. Thanks!

Oh - OK - now I see what it is you're after. This whole time
I thought you were wanting to create a way of downloading a file
using the Flash player. You're actually after a normal download
type situation like if you're in a regular HTML page. Where the
browsers GUI is used to prompt you with panels for progress and
completion of downloads.
As far as Flash is concerned, the FileReference object is
limited in it's control of the GUI tools in the browser. Apart from
a few more commands, the script I showed you above is basically it.
You are right that you have to "STAY in the exact page" because
that's how a Flash movie works. You close the page - you close the
movie (and consequently, any downloads).
You can make the Flash movie behave like the browser tools by
building your own preloaders, info panels, and prompt boxes. But
this would require a lot more work on your behalf and you would
need a good knowledge of Actionscript. And again, you would still
have to STAY in the exact page!
My only workaround is to perhaps zip your mp3 files and have
a button that points to it. That way it'll behave like a regular
file and trigger the browsers default download functions.
You can use the same script that you use to open the mp3
file.

How to download mp3 files into iTunes
This question differs from, but is related to subscribing to podcasts (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2124335&tstart).
Rather than subscribing to a podcast, I just want to download a story http://transmissionsfrombeyond.com/podpresstrac/web/121/0/TFB_020TheWatersOfMeribah.mp3, hosted at http://transmissionsfrombeyond.com/2009/08/transmission20. I did File->AddFileToLibrary. The dialogue box that came up was pointing at a temporary internet file folder. For the file name, I provided the URL above, but all that happened was that it downloaded 2 files into the temporary internet file folder:
TFB020TheWatersOfMeribah[1].mp3
TFB020TheWatersOfMeribah[2].mp3
Why are there 2 parts?
I tried to drag them to the iTunes Podcasts area, then try to drag it to the Podcast entry in the navigation panel along the left. Neither action resulted in the appearance of the files in iTunes.
I tried to find where iTunes stores its files. It seems to be at "My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music", though the folder structure in no way mirrors the 6 iTunes libraries (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Applications, Radio). Previously suscribed podcasts had corresponding folders in the Podcasts subfolder, but there were no subfolders for the other five libraries.
I dragged the two mp3's into the Podcasts subfolder, but it didn't show up in iTunes. I then emulated the previously subscribed podcasts by creating a TheWatersOfMeribah folder within the Podcasts subfolder, then dragged the mp3's into that folder. Again, no joy.

I've checked the links you provided and the problem is - they are not Podcasts (as you noted), despite what the text on the page says. In order to get these programmes into the Podcast section of iTunes, they must be downloaded _as Podcasts._ So why not get the Podcast?
First, let's get the Podcast, then I'll explain what the problem has been.
To actually get the Podcast; on the pages you linked, look for and click on the *iTunes/1 click* button, just above the donate button. You may get a dialogue box appear that says "This link needs to open an application. Send to:" and one of the choices should be iTunes - choose it. That step may be skipped and you may go straight to iTunes.
When iTunes does open, it should go to the *iTunes Store/Podcasts/.../Transmissions From Beyond* page, where you can select individual episodes or subscribe to the complete series. Make your choice. The advantage of subscribing is that iTunes will then do all the work of finding new episodes, downloading them and syncing them to your iPod.
An alternative is to search in the iTunes Store for "Transmissions From Beyond" which will find the Podcast. I've just done this, so I know it works!
Now, what was the problem?
On the pages you linked to, the authors keep referring to everything as a Podcast, but an mp3 file _is only a Podcast_ if it's downloaded through a "Podcast catcher", such as iTunes. This whole process then keeps track of new episodes and can also automate the removal of an episode that you have listened to if you wish. (See the options in the Podcast tab of your iPod when you connect it to iTunes.)
If you download the mp3 files as you did, they are simply mp3 files, which will end up in the music section of your library, perhaps with a genre of Podcast. (To be a Podcast, the file needs to have a *Media Kind* of Podcast, not the genre. A Podcast can have any genre, speech, music, drama etc.)
As you have seen, even the content providers are mis-informed about what a Podcast is.
By the way, when you tried "entering the URL" - iTunes will only recognise valid *Podcast Feed URLs,* but not the location of an mp3 file. The enter URL option is useful if you have the *Podcast Feed* of a Podcast that is not listed in the iTunes Store.
Finally, in fact you have downloaded the mp3 file _three times._
The first time as TFB020TheWatersOfMeribah.mp3,
the second time as TFB020TheWatersOfMeribah[1].mp3,
and a third time as TFB020TheWatersOfMeribah[2].mp3

IPhone won't play music imported from CDs or mp3s not downloaded from itunes
When I first downloaded iOS 7, all of the music I had in my iTunes synched to my iPhone, but now new CDs I just imported and previous songs I imported from CDs won't synch (I've tried over wifi and usb). When I click on songs on my phone that were from CDs, they look as if they are going to play and then skip immediately. Mp3s I downloaded do the same thing. Mind you, everything was working fine until updating to iOS 7.0.4. I've been looking around the forums and have found that problems like this are relatively common and it's a shame Apple hasn't done anything to fix it.
When my phone is hooked up and I click on "on this iPhone", it says the music from CDs and mp3s is on, but the titles come up gray with these litte circle things next to them
Just checking now, I noticed some songs I bought from iTunes are doing the same thing.
I tried manually synching, but when I click to drag the songs into my phone, the section that has music, movies, etc. just flashes and nothing happens. I know something is wrong because I just put a ringtone onto my phone the same way.
Oh, I also noticed that when my iPhone is synching and the steps go through at the top it skips steps 3, 4, and sometimes 5 (The Apple symbol pops up instead then goes straight to 6 and 7) so I know it's not recognizing the fact I put a bunch of new music in iTunes. Also, when I look at the bar at the bottom that shows how much memory is on my phone, this shows up:
and that Documents and Data thing was not there before.

From what I know, MP3 Rocket is a program that will only work on a Windows computer. They don't make a version that will work on a Mac.
If you need to convert Youtube files to MP3, then you may want to try Smart Converter. It is available in the App Store for free. Just launch App Store, then look in the Top Charts section, under FREE, select "see all", and look for the the download shown below. -

I have itunes 11.0.3-when I download mp3 songs, it will not open up in itunes and play, which is my default music player. What is going on? I've googled this issue and nothing has come up. I've tried every solution I can possibly think of. All it does is open up iTunes, but it won't play or even save. What do I do?!?! I only use iTunes and sync everything with it. This is super frustrating!

First of all, make sure that it downloads and saves to your computer. That is the job of the browser, not of iTunes.
After it saves, make sure it is a valid MP3 song file, since many downloads from the web are not valid. Did it play correctly in another player, such as Windows Media Player or Winamp? -

I'm simply trying to offer a downloadable podcast (MP3) through our Saba LMS for computer and mobile device.
So far, PC isn't a problem to download, but how can my user download the MP3 using their mobile device? I can only think that it has to be emailed to them, then accessed through their mail app and saved it there. I mean, how do you download anything w/ a phone/tablet? I couldn't if I was using a browser app (Safari, etc.) on my iPhone.

It's not just Download Helper v4.8.3, it's also RealPlayer: the download display window shows .mp3 files downloading, but nothing shows in the folder when it is done downloading.
Also in the '''Properties''' window of Windows Explorer I '''no longer have the Details tab''', so I can't update my mp3 files with Artist, Album, Genre, etc. But the details tab does show up when I access it thru Windows Explorer.

I have an ITunes account. I got it when I got my IPOD. I've thought about upgrading, but I didn't see any reason to buy a newer IPOD because they all come with so much stuff I don't want/need.
