Skipped and ragged level hierarchy in OBIEE11g

Hi
I tried creating aboth skipped and ragged hierarchy in OBIEE 10g
It works fine without error
SO I have doubt why they have introduced this concept in OBIEE 11g, Is there any more feture about this
Please help me

  • Publish in Responsive HTML5 - files skipped and 3rd level topics not generated

I'm having trouble getting the new FrameMaker 11 Publish features to work as expected.
I have a ditamap with three levels of headings. When I use the Publish feature to output in Responsive HTML5, a TOC is produced, in which there are no links below the second level.
Moreover, even some files at the second level randomly are not accessible from the TOC. A link is present, but when I click, it lands on a page that says "this webpage is not found".
When I look in the output directory, all the files are present in html form, so they do exist.
One file, however, although correctly formed in the xml source with a series of unordered lists, comes out looking like this:
An interactive script called bootstrap_.cmd is provided when you run the installation package for the Control Centre. This script simplifies the configuration of the sample database with a MySQL database engine. It performs a series of setup tasks, including:
    ÃÃÆ⠀™Ãƒâ€ ’ƒâ€šà ƒÆ’ƒÆ’‚¢Ãà †â€™Ãƒâ€ ’ĮբÃà †â€™Ãƒâ€ ’ƒÂ¢Ã¢â€Å ¡Ã‚¬Ã…¡Ãà †â€™Ãƒâ€ ’ƒâ€šà ƒÆ’ƒÆ’‚¬Ãà †â€™Ãƒâ€ ’ƒÆ’ââ‚ ¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šà ƒÆ’ƒÆ’‚¢               Execution of the SQL command that creates the database,
Needless to say, this is not useable. Is this a bug in Frame, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks to anyone who can help,

I had some help from Adobe support about the inability of the Publish tool to generate more than two levels of depth in the hierarchy.
The depth is managed by the 'ParaTags' setting in 'BookWithFM-TOC' section of "ditafm-output.ini". By default, it is set to manage only two levels. To change it to four:
    [BookWithFM-TOC]
    Template=TOCTpl.fm
    ElementTags=
    ParaTags=title.0|title.1|title.2|title.3|title.4|title-index
Nevertheless, for a long time I could not get this to work for me, because there were in effect TWO ditafm-output.ini files in my standard installation and the one which controlled the output was HIDDEN and did not appear in any searches!
    This file:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker12\fminit\ditafm\ditafm-output.ini
is the incorrect one, but it is the only one that actually shows up when I looked for ditafm-output.ini.
The correct ini file was in a subdirectory of the path
    C:\Users\my_user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
The trick is to do a search on AppData. It does not show up in a Windows Explorer, but the search returns a slew of htm files recently generated by the Publish process. These confess the hidden path in their headers, under the OriginalFile tag.
None of this was at all self-evident! Thanks Adobe Support.

  • Ragged Hierarchy and Skip Level Hierarchy

    Hi all,
I am confused with ragged and skip level hierarchy, as i read some documents related to obiee 11g.
Will you please explain with an example the difference between ragged hierarchy and skip level hierarchy and also when to use these hierarchies?

  • OBIEE 10g - Ragged & Skip Level Hierarchy

    Hi Frnds,
I'm aware of the fact that OBIEE 11g supports Ragged & Skip Level Hierarchy. But I'm looking for some heads up while implementing the same on OBIEE 10g using Oracle DB as source. I have done this before for Essbase Data Source but now waiting for my Oracle dataset for design.
Has anyone actually implemented in Real Time Project? Pls share your challenges like:
    - Dimensional Hierarchies Challenges
    - Drill Down Challenges
    - Report Challenges
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Deepak,
10g does not handle the idea of Skip hierarchies and the ragged hierarchies definitely has its limitations.
We've implemented several projects using Essbase and SAP BW for Oracle BI 10g. The biggest issue is that in Answers creates a new column for each drill down selection when attempting to navigate down a hierarchy. Though this is klugy it does work and provides the data the user is looking for. It is however, not aesthetically please when compared to other tools or now Oracle BI 11g which satisfies this issue with a native drill-down tree folder structure.
My opinion and advice would be to upgrade to 11g as soon as possible to enjoy these new features.

  • Design a dimension with skip-level hierarchy and its ETL

    Hi gurus,
I'm trying to understand how to set up and use a skip level dimension and its corresponding mapping in OWB 11.2.
A simplified version of my hierarchy would be like Total-Brand-LOB-Product where Some Products connect directly to Brand and others connect to LOB.
My first question is about designing this kind of dimension in OWB. Is it better to create a single hierarchy with the Product level skipped to Brand level or 2 hierarchies - one Total-Brand-LOB-Product and the other Total-Brand-Product?
My second question is about creating its corresponding ETL mapping. Selecting each option above result in 2 FKs for Brand and LOB in Product level. What is the correct design to fill these 2 FKs?
Any help/guidance would be truly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Iman

Hi, My problem is that in my report it is showing me that levels as -- A -> B -> C -> Null -> Null -> F, however I want to show data as A -> B -> C -> F, i.e the null valus(columns) should be skipped. Please help.

  • Issue with Skip Level Hierarchy in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I have implemented Ragged and Skip Level Hierarchy as explained in the links below in OBIEE 11g RPD.
(checked the 'Ragged' and 'Skipped Levels' check boxes)
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/07/obiee-11gr1-support-for-ragged-skip-level-value-based-hierarchies/
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/bi.1111/e10540/dimensions.htm#BABFBBFG
When the Presentation Hierarchy is dragged in the OBI Answers, the leaf level beyond the skip (null) levels is not shown in the report.
When any level finds intermediate null values, OBIEE is failing to show the existing value of the leaf level (Most Granular Level) or any values after Skipped Levels.
For example, following is the values in database for different levels of department hierarchy.
    A -> B -> C -> Null -> Null -> F
The OBIEE Presentation Hierarchy can only drill down till C, not beyond that. (does not show the leaf level value 'F').
Could you please suggest whether I am missing any step?
    Thanks.

  • OBIEE Essbase skip-level hierarchy

Is it possible to setup OBIEE and Essbase to be able to model skip-level hierarchy? It is obvious with connection to the relational database. How the essbase should designed and populated with data to faciliate this type of hierarchy?

Refer this http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/overview/obiee-essbase-modeling-guide-130897.pdf for Modeling. And for any Essbase releated question post it in Essbase forum Essbase

  • Skipping a table level

Hi, I have these 3 tables (with right FKs and joins) in my Product Dimension:
    CITY, SUPPLIER, PRODUCT.
The right level hierarchy should be, from top to leaves: City -> Supplier -> Product
We'd want to build these dimension hierarchy:
City -> Product, but we get this warning in BI Admin (and error then in Answers)
[39008] Logical dimension table CITY has a source CITY that does not join to any fact source.
It can't navigate through the joins, skipping the intermediate table level?
Are we forced to build the entire hierarchy and skip the level (and the table) setting a preferred Drill-Path? (this solution worked)
    Thanks in advance!

To resolve this you have two options.
Be sure that you have in the physical layer correct FK join relationships between these tables as follow:
    City-<Supplier-<Product
In the BMM make logical table (dimension table) with logical table source Product. Now, in the logical table source Product general tab properties add physical tables and joins (add first Supplier table and join Product>-Supplier, then add City table and join Supplier>-City). Now, drag-drop columns from all tables that you want to use in dimension levels.
Build dimension object with levels, and put columns on each level.
    Option one (all three levels):
City level: key use for drilldown checked
Supplier level: key use for drilldown unchecked
Product level: key use for drilldown checked or unchecked
Now you can drilldown in Answers from City to Product, the middle level is not shown, obiee make join through all three tables.
Option two (City and Product levels only):
City level: key use for drilldown checked
Product level: key use for drilldown checked or unchecked
Now you can drilldown in Answers from City to Product, obiee make join through all three tables, because you have define this additional physical tables and joins in logical table source Product.

  • Web intelligence and sap bw hierarchy

    Hi all,
we are trying to build a report based on bex query and using bw hierarchy.
We can create the report in an easy way with dimnesion customer (using hierarchy) and measure unit sales and it look pretty good. But when we add next dimension into our report the result isnt how we imagined. Take a look please at these two pictures. The first is how the report looks like now and the second is how it should look like.
    1. picture how it looks like now  -  http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6708/sapbwhierarchyinwebi.jpg
    2. picture how it should look like  -  http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/7043/sapbwhierarchyinwebithi.jpg
The dimension sales manager should be visible only on the bottom level of the customer hierarchy. Is it possible  ?
    Thanks for any help,

    Hi Martin,
you can try saving dimension in the hierachy in the universe designer and then saving and exporting it  and in webi you can check in scope of analysis/Drill whether it is drilled down or not to that level.
    hope this will help.

  • Row Selection for second and subsequent level nodes in tree table

    Hi All,
We have a .jsff page with tree bindings to display a three-level hierarchy tree table.Suppose the hierarchy is
    -> Department
    ->-> Employees
    ->->-> Employee details.
I have a use case where-in when we add the employee node within a department, the department node must expand and the newly added employee node must be selected.
In both the cases(for new department or employee), we are following the approach mentioned below:
    1. Get the treeTable Iterator.
2.Adding the new object to the java ArrayList which is bound to the corresponding level in the tree.
    3.Refreshing the treeTable iterator.
    4.Execute treeTable.setSelectedRowKeys()
5.Add a partial target to the treetable.
The issue is that the new employee gets added but the upper-level department node collapses and no selection is performed on the new employee node.
But when we add a new department node, it gets selected on creation.
Is there any additional steps to be performed for second-level row selection?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
I looked at the code given in sample 61.
In the sample, a new node is not added dynamically (for ex.either new location or its child nodes.)
As mentioned in the above post, after adding a new node at a level in our use case, when we perform the refresh of the tree-table's iterator, the selection state of the rows is not shown on the table.
If the tree-table's iterator is not refreshed and the treeTable.setSelectedRowKeys() is executed, the rows get selected but the subsequent node additions do not show up in the table as the table's iterator is not refreshed.
Any sample code is available where in both the addition of new node and its selection is performed at the same time?
    Thanks.

I am loading the planning data from 3rd party system using UDC .  planning data had wbs element . Planning amount will post some time at 2nd leve or 3rd or 4th or 5th Level .
I am using SAP stadard WBS hirarchy for reporting . If  5th level node has possting  stadard hirachy showing perfectly because wbs hierarchy is rollup of 5th level postings and also alwasy posting at 5th level in r/3. but I am loading the data from 3rd party system so 2,3,4th levels also has postings.  so 2,3,4 th level amounts are not adding into the standard hierarchy  and   amounts are displaying under unassigne node in WBS standard Hierarchy .  2,3,4th level amount not adding into the Stadard wbs hirarchy .
If the amount post at 5th level no issues stadard hirarchy working fine
    like this
    WBS
    D-01----
    200
    D-01-01-02----

Please help me how to resolve this issue .  How to get 2nd level and 3rd level amounts in standard hirarchy.

  • Profit center hierarchy and cost center hierarchy

    Hi
What are the things we have to consider to create Profit center hierarchy and cost center hierarchy  and what is the need to assign profit center hierarchy to profit center and cost center hierarchy to cost center. What levels does this fall into? Can some one please guide me.
    Thanks.

As you would for any other infoobject
Activate the business content hierarchy datasources on R3 for cost centre and profit centre
Go into BW - replicate the metadata
Then just connect via transformations or transfer rules the datasources to yoru infosources or master data objects
Create an infopackage per hierarchy!!!!! - press the button available hirachies from OLTP - click the one you want on the left - fire it off
Then repeat new infopackages for all hierachies

  • Batch Color Correction and Batch Levels oddities...help!

So I have an action that I've been using for the past couple years (?) now that involves opening an image, applying an auto color and auto levels, saving and closing. This has been working for me since probably a couple years ago when I made the action. Yesterday, I was working on a scanning project where I have groups of images in separate folders. I ran the action on the first 2 folders which went fine. When I got to the 3rd folder all the way up to the last one, PS just loads all the images, does the levels and color then fails to save/close them when done. On one of my folders, it gets through a few of them when it drops the ball and just opens all of them. I'm not sure what's going on as there's no real explanation as to why this is happening...especially when I've been using this action (and I even made a new action with still no luck). This is becoming a huge headache. Any feedback/help would be greatly appreciated...especially when last week I had about 300 images I had to work with and PS decided to pull this move on me after doing the first 30 of them fine...which is when I first noticed this happening.
To further add, I set my action to show everything step by step and it seems to happen with select images (in some cases, these select images are entirely what is in the folder). With the select images, it is not doing the actions entirely in order. Typically it does it in this manner:
    1-Levels
    2-Levels
    3-Save
    4-Close
What I'm now experiencing is this:
    2-Levels
    1-Levels
(Skips 3 and 4 since it is starting at 2 and working upward). Hopefully you understand what I'm talking about!

They're all JPEG, all coming from the same source (Images coming off of a Kodak PS410 scanner). I've also checked to see if they're 'read only' but they aren't. Odd thing is, I've taken this same set of photos to another computer and ran the same action and everything ran fine. As far as memory goes, I don't think that should be an issue as I'm set up with 16gb of RAM. And as far as what I was recently working on, these folders had probably 40 images max in them.
I'll be running another batch on another set of images (coming from a different source) today and see what happens, if anything.
