Skipped audio files when burning disc in iDVD.

I burned a DVD using iDVD version 7.0. The audio files sound perfect on the computer but on the disc there are skipped areas noted in three different audio files. I did try different discs and burned discs on both my laptop and my desktop. I have used this program before but never encountered this problem.  Any tips? Thanks

Hi
My notes on this.
No audio on DVD disc.
Most common origin.
1. Imported audio from iTunes.
• In iTunes copy out as an Audio-CD .aiff (Same as played on standard Stereo CD - no .mp3)
• Use this in Your movie project
2. Low - Free Space on Start-up/Boot/Internal/Mac OS Hard disk makes it hard for iMovie to work as intended.
Down to 1.3 GB and it doesn’t work - especially audio don’t migrate over to Media Browser
(iM’08 & 09)
3. Material in iMovie’08 & 09 - Shared to Media Browser and here selected as Large
large.m4v. It silenced out this project in iDVD. By making a slight alteration - provoking it to ask for a new Share/Publish to Media Browser and here selecting 640x480 - and audio was back when a new iDVD project was created including this movie.
Minuscular - - 176x144
Mobile - - - - - 480x360
Medium - - - - 640x480
Large - - - - - - 720x540    960x540
HD - - - - - - - - 1280x720
4. Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
• Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
5. Main audio is set to off in System Preferences - Does this by it self - Don’t know why
Cheque Audio-Out resp. Audio-In
6. Ed Hanna
Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies — except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format — that I have noticed.
7. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
• In iDVD 08 - or - 09
• Burn from DiskImage with Apple’s Disk Utilities application
• OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

  • Audio disappears when burning in iDVD 6 from QT movie (from FCP)

Before burning, checked all the chapters and each plays with audio. When the disc burns it does encode the audio during the burning process but the only audio that is present when the burn if completed is the audio on the 1st menu. I only inserted video on menus two and three (using "Full Frame" menu) as I only want video; no audio on those two menus . I had to force quit twice and then ran Repair Permissions. Should have I trashed iDVD prefs and if so, is there only one to trash?
thanks for any help . . .this forum is invaluable.

I had to force quit twice and then ran Repair Permissions. Should have I trashed iDVD prefs and if so, is there only one to trash?
drag and drop all incidents of the iDVD plist to the trash. Use the finder or spotlight to locate all incidents of plist for iDVD. Looks like this:
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
secondly, you will need to repair permissions on the HD.
    applications > utilities > apple's DU
third, delete all encoded assets from the advanced menu.
forth, recommend using different media like Verbatim DVD-R Minus media and burn from a disc image using apple's DU or Toast at 4x or slower.
fifth .....be very patient while it encodes and burns. i've seen some dvd's take up to 2 days.
sixth ....make certain you have no less than 20GB of available HD space.
    Good luck!

  • I can't find a plug in that i downloaded and put in the library/audio file when I'm in garage band

I can't find a plug in that i downloaded and put in the library/audio file when I'm in garage band?

In GarageBand 10.0 and GarageBand '11 are the plugins (Audio Units) installed in
    /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
What is the GarageBand version? Not all plug-ins are compatible with the newest version GarageBand 10.0
The version number is shown in the "About panel" in the main menu bar: GarageBand > About GarageBand
If you are having the newest GarageBand 10.0, the Audio Units will show in the panel in the Smart Controls of the Track you selected.
Scroll the "Info" pane down all the way or enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the track area upward, until you see theAudio Unit Brick.
Most panes in GarageBand 10.0 can be scrolled.  If you do not see the scroll bars, they will appear automatically, when yous start scrolling. Or enable them permanently in the System Preferences > General > Scroll Bars. This is useful, as long as you do not know yet, which panes have hidden items that will need scrolling, to make them visible.
The Smart Controls need to be enabled in GarageBand Preferences >Audio Midi.
Some Audio Unit plug-ins will no longer work, since the new GarageBand 10.0 is a 64-bit only application; the 32-bit plug-ins are incompatible.

  • Audio Problems when burning

I have tried making disc image, burning disc and the audio will pause for second several times in the play back. It does not do it when playing back in iDVD.
The slide show was started in iPhoto and sent to iDVD. I have started over several times and still same issue. Makes a bad impression and is really not useable for presentation.
I have 30 gigs free space, changed settings to Professional encoding and still same issue. I have no open apps, changed all energy settings and screen saver to never.
Any ideas, I am fresh out, never had this problem with previous version.
    Frustrated

    Andy,
This question is really in the wrong place - this is the iDVD '08 forum and not the iDVD 5 forum.
From the description of your problem using Toast, it sounds like you didn't actually export a DV video movie out of iMovie.
Export a DV video movie out of iMovie (it will run 13 GB per hour) and play it back with the QuickTime Player to see if the audio settings you made are really there. If this movie plays OK, you can bring IT into iDVD or Toast for turning it into a DVD.
If the DV video movie you created STILL has audio problems in the QuickTime Player, ask you question about THAT issue in the correct iMovie forum.

  • Trying to import .mov audio file and burn as MP3

Can someone point me to a thread, or be kind enough to post answer, about how I might successfully import a .mov audio file and wind up burning it as an MP3. I've been dinking around with this for too long. I can import it and end up with it in the format: MPEG-1, Layer 3. But when I burn it to CD and play it on a Sony boom box, I hear nothing. I tried playing it in another iMac and hear nothing.
    Thanks.

I was hoping someone in this forum could point me in the right direction to a web site that is designed specifically for Garage Band users that need sound effects.
    Check out:

    These both are GarageBand-oriented.

  • Having Problems Copying Files to Burn Disc Folder

Ok here's the deal. With Tiger I was able to copy files from volume or desktop and paste them in burn disc folder then burn disc from finder. Now whenever I paste them, they paste as alias' (shortcuts) not as the full file. What's going on?
(Keep in mind I do know the dragging creates shortcuts, I'm not dragging I'm copying and pasting, and it always worked great until I upgraded.)
This is extremely annoying. I hate burning through programs and I'd really rather not if someone can explain to me how to fix this problem.

    From Mac Help:
    Creating a burn folder
You can create a burn folder to collect files you want to burn onto a CD or DVD. Burn folders are especially handy for burning several copies of a folder, or for regularly backing up a set of files by burning them to discs.
To create and use a burn folder:
Click the desktop (the background area of your screen) if you want to keep the burn folder on the desktop; otherwise, open the window where you want to keep the burn folder.
Choose File > New Burn Folder, and type a name for the folder.
Drag to the burn folder the items you want to burn to a disc.
The Finder places aliases to the items in the burn folder; the originals are not moved.
When you’re ready to burn the folder’s contents to a disc, double-click the burn folder and click Burn.
Insert a blank disc into your computer’s optical drive, or into an optical drive connected to your computer, and follow the instructions.
The original files that the aliases point to are burned to the disc. In addition, if any folder in the burn folder contains aliases, the original files for those aliases are burned to the disc as well.
If the Finder cannot find the original file for an alias, it asks whether to cancel burning or to continue without that item. If you cancel, the disc remains empty.
If a burn folder is in the sidebar of a Finder window, you can quickly burn its contents to a disc by clicking the burn icon beside it.
    ~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~
There is a gear on the bottom of the burn folder in Finder, that appears when a blank DVD is loaded, which when clicked will tell you how much room has been used on the disk or the remaining space, can't remember which at this stage.
I burnt 5 DVDs plus CDs via aliases in burn folders to move all my records from my old iBook to my MacBook Pro, both running Leopard. Believe me it does work. ~ not one coaster either.
This is a user to user forum, thanks and a smile go a long way.
By the way Tiger used alias to Burn discs too:

  • Audio problem when burning DVD

Hi, Hope that someone can help me, I have already make several DVD's,and those went fine, but the latest Imovie project is with spoken audio.
When I try to burn this with IDVD 5.0.1 everything went well till IDVD has come to the audio part, hereby it goes wrong. I didn't get a failure message but nothing happened further on.
    Hope someone has a solution!
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   2x1.8 ghz

    Hello, prutgers,
You will need to be a bit more specific with your problem so we can help you.
What do you mean by 'it goes wrong'? What exactly happens?
You need to know that when your DVD is encoding audio, the process appears to be doing nothing. If you leave it alone for a while, it just may finish. Maybe you are not waiting long enough.
Especially if you don't get an error message. What are you doing? Did you force quit? Did the DVD burn and has an audio problem?
    Give us more information!

  • How to include non-photo text files when burning a DVD-RW

I'm using Photoshop Elements 3.0.1 on Windows XP Service Pack 2.
I want to include a couple of text (TXT) files on a DVD-RW disc that I'm going to burn my photos to. The text files will contain a chronicle of the trip on which I took the photos.
I can't figure out how to get Photoshop Elements (PSE) to let me include these text files. Is there a way to do that in PSE? It seems to only allow you to work with photo files.
As a work-around, I tried first burning the text files to the disc using Nero and not finalizing the disc. I then tried to use PSE's burn command to add the photos, but PSE objected that the disc was not empty and asked me if I wanted to erase its contents. When I said "No", it asked me to insert a different disc. So apparently PSE will only work with an empty disc or a partially-full disc that you are willing to erase first.
    Help!
    Thanks.
    Steve Westfall

    Ward,
I didn't try burning the photos first and then burning the text files with Nero, because I read elsewhere in the forum that PSE has the nasty habit of always finalizing the disc when it finishes its burning session, which means you couldn't add anything to it in a subsequent burning session. However, I haven't verified that. I'll have to try it.
The work-around that I finally came up with and successfully used was basically your second option. I used the export command to export the pictures that I want to a directory, and then used Nero to burn those pictures and anything else I want to the disc.
Still, it seems like there ought to be a way to get PSE to include files other than photos.
    Thanks for your input.
    Steve

  • Unknown error when burning disc

I get an unknown error when burning playlists to blank discs.  My computer begins to write the discs, but stops after a song or two.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Iweb won't play my audio files when published

Can someone please help? I spent hours creating a website for music i produce. It works all fine and dandy on the preview pages, but when published the audio files and video files don't play. All that comes up is the picture and a small quick time player logo underneath. I have tried several different remedies but nothing seems to be working. Is this just difficulties with the new me.com facilities or what? Any help would be gratefully recieved.
    Thanks very much,
    a very frustrated mac user.

I gave up on your page because the file size is absurd.
Your source files are AIFF format (raw CD quality audio) that measures 10 MB's per minute. I don't have the time to wait for 6 of these files to load in your single page:
    http://web.mac.com/thekoles/the_koles/Media/trouble%20and%20strife%20150808%202. aif is 47 MB's.
Compress your files in iTunes to reduce the file size.

  • ITunes crashes when burn disc

When I go to my playlist and click the icon "burn disc" iTunes instantly crashes. Have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and still have not been able to get it working. I get an error message that says iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. Also, when I try to edit preferences about burning it crashes.

    I'm having the same problem.

  • How to play an audio file when a sprite is clicked

I am designing a Director movie in order to learn how to use the program. My question is how can I make a small audio file play when the user clicks on a sprite? I believe it is done via a small script. My second question is similar. How can I make the movie play a sound when the cursor hoovers upon a sprite? Can you help, please? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ibrahim,
Rob has pointed you to the Lingo for playing a sound. There is a behavior in the Library Palette that makes this very easy without needing to write a script yourself. In the Media > Sound category, there is a 'Play Sound' behavior. You can click and drag this behavior onto a sprite and then in the Parameters dialog, you can choose the sound to play, the channel in which it should play, the event to activate the sound, and if you want the sound to loop.

  • ITunes changes track order when burning discs

When burning a playlist to disc iTunes changes the track order.  I want the disc to have the same track order as my playlist.  How do I do that?

    Jim VanLeeuwen wrote:
How your CD appears in iTunes depends on the column selections. In list view in iTunes, select the column to the left of the track names to see the CD track order. To see the actual order of the tracks on the CD, open the CD in Finder by double-clicking the CD on the desktop. The tracks will be preceded by a number corresponding to their order on the CD and that is the order they should play in your CD player. If you use the Finder's list view, your CD should reflect the order in the playlist you burned it from.
Play the CD in your CD player? Does the order match the original playlist?
Nope, when I put it in my car CD player the tracks are randomized. On the playlist I can put the tracks in the order that I wanted them in and when I burn them iTunes randomizes the order on the cd. I've burned it 4 more times and each time the tracks have been randomized. This is also with a cd that I bought from the ITS. So the playlist is in track order and I even checked the tags and the numbers are in the correct order.

  • Error message when burning discs

I can't burn a disc from my playlists. I have the newest version of iTunes but I do not have the burn icon at the top of the page. The only way I can initialize a burn is to right-click the playlist and select "burn playlist to disc". The burn begins properly but somewhere before it is finished it cancels itself and gives me the following message : Unable to burn disc. An unknown error occurred (4251). Any suggestions?

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I GOT THE ERROR 4251, WHAT ID DID WAS TO SELECT A SLOWER BURNING SPEED, I SELECTED 4X, AND IT WORKED FINE, THE CD'S I AM USING ARE MEMEOREX CD-RW 12X, TRY IT AND LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS.
