Skipping chapters to have a shorter version of a movie
Hey,
I have one movie on one track. My plan is to avoid editing a shorter version and use a script or something like that in DVD Studio Pro which assigns to skip one or two chapters once in a while. Is that even possible or would it be easier to edit a shorter version in final cut?

How to save a shorter version of a movie for facebook upload
I have several movies that have already been exported to YouTube, but I now want to share those same movies with facebook. Since facebook has a 2 minute limit, I will have to do some editing to cut down the length of these movies and also export them in a different (medium-640x360) size.
How do I do this if I want to retain the original versions of these movies? I just need to make one shortened version for facebook only.
Finally, where on the hard drive do these new movies get saved? They seem to be in the Documents folder instead of the Movies folder.Highlight your project in the project library then click on File > Duplicate Project.
You have now created an exact duplicate which you can edit while still preserving the original.
Normally movie projects are saved in the Movies/Projects folder however it all depends on how they were exported.
Notice in the Share command if you select Export Movie or Export to QuickTime there is a 'Where' option.
This is so that you can specify where you want the movie to be saved.

I have an older version of itunes on a separate drive. Everytime that there has been an update to itunes it will not let me update. Now I purchased an iphone and I hooked the phone up to the computer and it tells me I need to install the latest version of itunes. I downloaded to try it, but I keep getting an error message that says itunes.Resources is not a valid short file name. What can I do from here?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Hi, I have an older version of imovie and I need to record a short audition directly from my built in camera in imovie and edit it and then send it because my flipshare camera software isn't responding to mailing at all. Do I need the new imovie version download (update) available or can I simply use what is already on my computer to record edit and send?

Its a long story, but the short version is my computer hads been lost at the repair shop. I now have to download all my purchases, Apps and books down again onto my ipad. I have found my purchase (songs and TV Shows) but I cant find my apps I have all the receipts. What do I do now?
Before you do what Hunter suggested, you need to authorize the iTunes account on the new computer. To authorize, Store > Authorize This Computer. Use your current Apple ID and Password. Then connect your iPad and transfer your purchases.

How can I have the latest version FF8 installed AND keep my old version until I get used to FF8 ?
I have also fopund that I have a Beta version FF 3.6 Beta 4
I have no idea how this was installed, as I have not done it knowingly and consciously !!!
It does not show up in ALL PROGRAMS from START.....
But does appear in ADD/REMOVE PROGS via Control Panel....also in MY COMPUTER>Program files !!
Both versions work...but my desktop short cut links to FF 3.6.24....and that is what I use all the time. (the Beta version must have been there for some time).....
So this gave me the idea of maybe keeping my current version and also having a separate program FF8.... Until I get used to FF8...(see question https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/897193#answer-277745)
Maybe... 1. Install FF8 to a different location folder..say...Mozilla/Firefoxnew8
2. Rename the existing FF version and create new desktop short cut.
But the only problem I can see in these options is that when FF installs a new update automatically, on start up...... depending on which version I am using at the time...... I presume it will look for folder Mozilla/Firefox..... THEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN ??

Syncing should transfer any purchased media, including videos, from your device to your iTunes library provided your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to make these purchases. You mentioned that you have uninstalled iTunes before, but if you didn't follow this guide exactly, uninstalling iTunes and all of its components in the order specified, it may not have been successful so you should try again: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7.

How can I check to see if I have the latest version of LiveType?
Currently I have version 2.1
It came with my Final Cut Express -- my FCE version reads 3.5.1
I tried software update, I tried the LT and FCE menus. Any ideas?

i am a senior and I have mac ox version 10.4.4 and the latest firefox is not compatible. Can I use an older version of firefox and still be protected. My teacher recommended firefox but my mac version will not accept the new firefox. Please help. Thank you

I have a video file with chapter markers. Is there any way to set up QuickTime to let me skip chapters with the arrow keys, like I do on the DVD Player application?
Thanks. That makes sense now. Is there a trick or work-around to make each menu button play only a certain group of clips and then return to the main page? I have been sharing the whole project straight to iDVD. Is there a way to do it in stages so there is an end point in each section? BTW I do not have Final Cut Pro.

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone. It is definitely inconvenient and frustrating when you are not able to access your iPhone.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Making 'shorter version' of project
Using Adobe Premiere Elements 7, I edit a 'long' project from my holiday travels that fit nicely on two DVDs. The only way I have found to make a successful 'short' (45 minutes) version for showing to groups where I am invited to give a presentation is to start again from scratch using the original tape in the camcorder. Any attempt to copy the 'long' version and then edit that ends up with a poor quality film that 'judders' and is not suitable for showing. Does anyone know of a quicker way to make an acceptable 'short' version?
If you do a Save As of your original project and then re-edit it as needed, you'll be using the original media files again, so there will be absolutely no reduction in quality -- and you'll still have your original project.
However, yes, if you try to re-edit your finished DVD, you're a couple of generations removed from the original footage, so yes you will definitely have reduced quality in your next re-edit. -
I have an iMac version 10.4.11. Tried to get pogo.com, but am told I need to update my Adobe Flash Player. When I try to update/upgrade Adobe Flash Player, I'm told my iMac is too old.
Likewise when I try to do banking online, I'm told I need to update my Safari Web Browser, but when I try to update, I'm told my computer is too old.
Short of buying a new computer, WHAT DO I DO??10.4.11 is Tiger.
If yours is a PPC based Mac (a G4 or G5) you can upgrade to Leopard 10.5.8 but no further. Leopard is no longer supported by or available from Apple so you will need to buy a vlack retail install disk from eBay or Amazon, and they cost around $200.
If yours is an Intel based Mac you can bypass Leopard and go straight to Snow Leopard 10.6.8:

7.1.3 will not install, Says I have a "Newer Version", but none installed!

As I'm sure most people have noticed,the new build of iTunes is not running smoothly. I've tried to install the updated build but it wouldn't work. It installed iTunes and the New Quicktime. It failed to open. So I do what apple tells me to: Try re-installing it.
But after uninstalling both to try and reinstall, iTunes won't install quicktime anymore. And when I try to use the standalone Quicktime installer, it tells me that I cannot install because I have a newer version than 7.1.3 on my computer!And when I install iTunes (without it installing quicktime, on it's own mind you)and then open it, it says I must have Quicktime installed to use it. Even my Quickitme plugins for my internet don't work!
I know this is impossible. And I've tried to rectify it every way I know how. Delete the remaining files in Windows and Program Files, use the Windows Installer Clean Up tool, try re-installing in safe mode, BUT NOTHING WORKS! I'd really like to use the new iTunes but I can't do anything with it untill I fix the quicktime problem.
If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated. Thank you.

There is no quicktime folder there. And no quicktime program is installed when I try to install iTunes. The only reason I tried installing quicktime in standalone was because the itunes install was not actively going to the quicktime part of its installation.
I've tried removing everything and only installing iTunes. But even after deleting the physical files, using the WIndows Install cleanup tool, and cleaning up my registry, the quicktime portion of the iTunes install doesn't complete, and I keep getting "unknown" errors from the crash prevention program, and from what I can see it's because there's no physical Quicktime program installed.
As for other accounts, no I cannot start it up with other accounts, I keep getting the "Unknown" error and there is no physical files for quicktime anywhere.
And selective startup doesn't seem to work as there is NO qttask option when I run selective startup.
So, I seem to be out of options, and thing else I could try?

I'm trying to download the new version of iPhoto when I upgraded to OSX Mavericks. It's telling me that I have an old version of iPhoto but yet not giving me an option to download new. Any ideas on what may be the problem?
What version of iPhoto do you have?
If you have any version of iPhoto '11 then version 9.5.x is a free update - if you own an earlier version of iPhoto ('09 or earlier) then you must pruchae iPhoto '11 version 9.5.x in the app store
