Skipping parts of song

I have recenlty downloaded a few songs and at least three of them maybe more are corrupted. After a certain amount of time (some after 7 seconds some after a minute and a half or so) the song stops and goes on to the next. iTunes shows that it playe the song as well. However if you fast forward past the point in which the song stops; it will play the rest of the song fine. This has gotten very annoying and Apple has been almost worthless with its upport emails. thx for answer, i think ur right , i tried to format the ipod by using my windows and ipod is found on "my computer" window, can even click to format, it then start to format the disk taking like 40min but at the end something goes wrong cos windows says he can't terminate format; result is that all data on ipod has been erased , only the original settings and software is on disk. I then put some music on ipod but problem still occurs (stuttering of HD). What wuld u advise? can this be fixed with format that is allowed to terminate completely and how do i do this? or is my disk physically damaged? are there other repair programs or diagnostic tools which will allow me to determine whether this problem can be solved or if my ipod is just completely (physically) screwed? I hate it cos my warranty just expired 2 weeks ago and i didn't drop it, bang it or otherwise harm is physically.... these things don't screw up themselves just like that? it can't be...
anyway what else can i try, don't have mac computer so can't really try to format on that... i tried disk doctor but that program won't start to run on that disk..
is there anything else i can use like in ms-dos? few months ago i had a problem with my external HD which many believed to be a hardware problem but after a good format it now runs smoothly again... was only able to format using ms-dos , windows wouldn't recognise the drive.. guess it's my last hope

ITunes match recently started skipping parts of songs on iPhone and Ipad

Just recently my Itunes match started skipping after 10 secs of most of the new music I would upload to itunes. A few albums work fine, but many skip after 10 secs and often repeat the 3rd song. Anyone have any ideas? The songs play fine on the computer itunes.

Yeah did that I read through at least 6 different forums nothing worked, even changing info in the meta data of the songs.
What I posted does help, if everyone stops using the service then Apple will fix it. There are post where people say apple support says they have never heard of this problem yet this post is from 5 months ago and it still an issue.
My guess is you've never heard of Apples auto correction. If you want to look smart post links to things that actually fix the problem. Being a smart a$$ is the least helpful way in any situation.

Nano Skipping Parts of Songs

My iPod Nano first generation is about a year old now and I am starting to have this problem with it. I'll start playing a song on it and about 1 minute into the song it will skip and go to the next song. It doesn't do this with every song though, anyone have any suggestions?

This is a consistent and annoying problem that seems to span all generations of iPods. There is no easy fix for the majority of the 'songs skipping' occurances. 5R's cubed will not solve it. Latest software version - v1.2.1 - may be the problem, but I have no idea how to go back and re-load an earlier software version. Help on that would be appreciated.

My IPod plays part of a song and then goes to the next song. I have tried soft reset this did not help. Any one else have this problem?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete the songs and resync (provide they play in iTunes on the computer)/redownload
- Reset all settings

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

HELP PLEASE!!! ipod classic 120gb is skiping parts of songs

i had an ipod nano 4th gen be for it and quickly maxed out its memory. so for my birthday this year i figured id up grade to an ipod classic 120gb (6th gen). i just got this thing 3 days ago. i reset it for PC's and loaded my music on. now its skipping parts of songs. it will play through half of a song, or less, and then jump to the next. and some times when i try to go back to the song it skipped it freezes and restarts its self on me. help please?
oh and before you go and say "just restore the thing" i cant. i live out in the middle of nowhere and the internet/itunes connection takes for ever. it took 11 hours for it to download the software update for PC's. and now it wants me to re-download it.

Slight skip before many songs - if not all - anyone know why?

When I am using Pod and press back - say to replay or restart a song - I often get a quick burst - maybe 1 second's worth, before the song starts. Has anyone else had this?

I did, and still do sometimes. But with me it only happens with songs whose start time I changed. When you sync the iPod, you can select a song, then "get info" for it. You then have the option to select another start point or end point for your song. I do this when I want to skip a long song intro. I guess it "freaks" the iPod out a bit when you then press play. Normally, this kind of skipping is due to the hard drive's head searching for the info, say, from a song located on one part of the HD's platter to a different song located elsewhere on the platter (ie not adjacent). I don't think it's a major problem, but if you're worried about it, reformat your iPod and resync it.

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

Bought album and it downloaded in iTunes but it only plays partial of first song and then skips to next song in album, help?

Well I bought the Bring Me The Horizon album There Is A **** Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret on my iPhone and it synced to iTunes on my laptop. The entire album was downloading however when the first song was starting download it displayed an error message and I quickly pressed okay and disregarded it. The rest of the album resumed download and completed. I then went up to the download button next to the search input in the upper right hand corner and finished download for the rest of the song. When I went to listen to the album I was in a minute into the first song, "Crucify Me," and it skipped to the second song in the album, "It Never Ends." I tried playing it over and opening and re-opening iTunes but it still persists to skip the first song a minute in... so it appears to be a partial download. I mean, I have the album downloaded on my iPhone (this was the original site of purchase and download) but currently I am not in a state to do anything with that because my USB cable broke so my phone's been dead for the past few days and I'm waiting until tomorrow to get one with my father, I'm just a 14 year old girl afterall. I need a quick fix for this error and soon, preferably one without needing my iPhone because I want to listen to this album tonight and make sure it's all in order (and so I know what to do for future reference in case this happens again.) Please let me know your suggestions on resolving this issue. - Taylor
P.S. I've inserted a picture of what my iTunes looks like just in case it might help, which I doubt, but it might. Also please don't judge the Blood On The Dance Floor albums... I went through a phase that involved **** music.

My iPod touch is skipping over certain songs it used to be able to play, help?

It started a little over a week ago. It was after I had downloaded the recent update, I was listening to music and skipped this one song when I noticed it skipped over two. Then I tried playing one song and it skipped over that one and the next completely. I skipped back and it wouldn't play the song I had orginially wanted, but did play the one after it that it had skipped over. I've tried turning it off and reseting it. I'm at a real loss here because I thoughted it would be just a glitch and go away, but at this point I'm really fed up. I have a feeling it has to do with the recent updates since it use to play the songs it skips over now just fine. The songs have almost nothing in common and so far I've found it's about a donzen or so it skips over.

Try:

I only use this 5th generation Shuffle when I run. I don't have headphone issues because I use running headphones meant to handle sweat. However, my Shuffle will, halfway through a song, go back to the beginning, play a few seconds and jump back to the beginning again. Also, when this starts happening, the Voice-over comes on again and again with no buttons being pushed. I keep the Shuffled clipped to the waistband of my running shorts, so it probably does get a little sweatty, but not like it would if it were clipped to the collar of my shirt!
Is this a problem I'm going to have to live with? I never had this issue with my old Shuffle, which was the first of the clip-on Sheffles.

Are you using the beta? it's not fully secure, so try using Firefox 3 instead. If you are already using Firefox 3, it seems like what Firefox is saying is correct- the site is not supplying identity information. So what you could do is go to that exact site, then click on the little golden lock at the very corner of the page. Then, enter the 'permissions' tab and allow everything. Exit, and then try bookmarking the page!

ITunes 8.1 no longer gives option to skip adding duplicate songs to iPod

When I begin to add songs to my iPod or a playlist, I've noticed that iTunes 8.1 no longer gives me the option (through a small pop-up window) to skip transferring any songs that already exist on that iPod or playlist.
This was a great feature: I could drag a whole set of songs and rely on iTunes to weed out any songs from the transfer that would cause duplicates on my iPod or a new playlist.
The option said something like you are about to add duplicates and allowed me to select "Skip" or "Add".
I can't find this option in Preferences. Has anyone been able to re-enable this?

I have this same problem. Did you find the solution? I sat here and played on iTunes for about 3 hours. I even tried uninstalling and installing it. Nothing works for me.

I don't recognise the symptoms as such, but here are a couple of things to try.
Check all tracks
Unchecked tracks are skipped during normal track to track playback. Go to the Songs view and CTRL-click on an empty checkbox, or CTRL-click on a filled one twice. This will ensure all tracks are checked.
Repair permissions
To make sure that your iTunes folder (or media folder if located separately) has the correct permissions, right-click on the folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but later versions of Windows shouldn't be too different.
You can also clear the Read-Only flag for the entire library from the Properties dialog.

This is in regards to a 4th gen 40gb clickwheel ipod.
Hi, i've also been having a very similar problem with my ipod as well. I find that regardless of which windows-based pc i use (either my xp laptop @ home, or my win2000 desktop @ work) windows and itunes refuses to recognise my ipod. In windows explorer it will show it as a removable drive, but if i click on it, windows freezes. If I try to disconnect it, I cant because windows keeps reporting that 'the device is being used, try disconnecting later' and so then i shut down my laptop to disconnect it safely.
Lately, like you, i've also noticed that clicking sound it makes. It happens when i connect my ipod to my computer - like the drive inside it is constantly restarting or something, and i get it when i'm playing / charging it in my dock. I've also noticed that when it's playing whilst charging, it just freezes on a song, then skips a couple of songs.
I've just discovered the disgnostic tools on my ipod, so i think i'll run a couple of tests (ie HDD scan) and depending on the outcome, i'll go visit the apple store.
