Skipping songs on itunes and ipod. Know why?

Of course I have gotten 2 new ipods and since my warranty was up I had to pay for another one. But now the problem, itunes and ipod are both skipping. Some songs play for 5 seconds, some for 5 minutes. Does anyone know why? Do I need to delete and reload all my songs? (none are illegal downloads.) Thanks if you can help.

The most likely cause of this would be on-demand virus scanning. I've had to set an exception in F-Secure on my PC to leave my 220 GB of FLAC files alone to solve this problem. If you have a large music library, I would look into the settings for your virus scanner and see if it helps to exclude files with the relevant extensions (MP3, M4A, M4P, etc.).
If you schedule or manually carry out virus scans on your PC, then just make sure that you enable your virus scanner to scan all files.

Song on Itunes and Ipod changed to different song

I bought a song off Itunes and mounths after it was on my ipod it changed to a totally different song. It still has the same album art and name as the song I bought but is something I have never dowloaded or heard for that matter. Anyone know about this??

sorry to bother you.. but did you get any tips or answers on how to fix the issue you had in relation to your question.. by any chance.. This is the correct behavior. When you play a song, the play count and last played time gets updated. When you resync the iPod, the track gets copied to the iPod to update these new changed fields.
There is no fix for this, this is what it is supposed to do.

Right clicking on your ipod in the device list an d choosing "transfer purchases" will copy apps and bought media from iTunes to your computer. Due to the new iTunes library on your new HD, iTunes will erase your ipod during the first sync. To save your data to the computer take a look at this article about saving data from your device to a computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Basically it's backing up manually, transferring her purchases (apps and bought music), letting iTunes erase the ipod due to the new iTunes library, and restoring from the manual backup again, to get all the data and settings back.
Make sure your new computer account is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Why is the volume level different from song to song in iTunes & on iPod?

When I play back songs in iTunes and most of all on my iPod the volume level is different depending what songs I am listing to. The biggest problem is with the songs that I get from my CD’s because the volume is very low. Why does this happen and can I fix it? Thanks, Robert

iTunes uses a feature called "SoundCheck" to attempt to equalize playback volume. There are actually 3 Sound Checks: 1 is for iTunes playback (set in Preferences), 1 is for iTunes burning (set on the Burn Disc dialog), and 1 is for iPod playback (in iPod Settings).
Make sure they are all enabled.
They are far from perfect, but they should help.

I have purchased many songs on Itunes and then I sync to my Ipad. Then it tells me so many songs cannot be synced. Why? I also think that when you have an account with Apple they should honour your email to all your music and not just your laptop as I now have to use my old laptop which is about to die so what happens then.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Power cycle the router.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
