Skips to the next song while in the middle of a track (in Shuffle mode)

On some tracks, my iPod suddenly skips to the next track when it is in shuffle songs mode. This seems to happen randomly in the middle (or close to the beginning...e.g. 30 seconds in) of tracks, and I can't figure out why it isn't playing the whole track. Suggestions?

I imagine sbonewicz looked at a couple of the More Like This threads listed in the panel on the right and found a solution there, such as this one...
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

If you do not have dupicate songs on the iPod then:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • My Nano skips in the middle of a song to the next song.

My ipod will skip in the middle of a song to the next song. It also gives a little iconic sound when doing so. If I push the back button, it goes to the menu page.

My son has just come to me in the last day complaining of the same problem on his Nano that he has been using nonstop since Christmas... He says it just all of a sudden started...& now continues whenever he uses it... He first thought it was the headphones... but they checked out fine... But he claims the songs are always skipping & pausing... I would think that there are others out there with the same problem...& hoped someone at Apple was working on a solution.

  • ITunes Skipping in the Middle of a Song

Ever since I updated iTunes about 5 months ago it's been skipping in the middle of random songs. This happens to random songs, but always hapens to the songs it effects. It happens to purchased songs from iTunes, as well as other music files from other sources. Any idea how to fix this?
I've got the most current version for iTunes on the mac(my mac is also fully up to date).

I get this too, with the latest edition of iTunes. From what I can tell, it is a corrputed mp3 file. Apparently, older versions of iTunes were able to ignore minor errors in MP3 files. And the newer version just skips to the next song when it encounters one of these minor errors.
To fix it, I used a small utility app I've had for years that is wonderful. It's called "MP3 TRIMMER" by "DeepNiner". http://www.deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/
I don't know what this app sells for now, but it allows you to open and trim off quiet space at the beginning or end of a song, it's useful in the creation of ringtones, and it has a feature that REPAIRS damaged MP3 files
When you repair a file, it's often split into two separate files, but run it thru again and it allows you to join multiple files into one MP3 file. (this feature is super handy for attaching two songs that always go together like "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" by Queen. Then those two songs become one file, and ALWAYS play together. But I'm slipping off topic.
Once your file is repaired, the files re-joined (if necessary), then you merely re-import it into iTunes and delete the old one.
I hope this helps, and also, the $10 (or so) cost of the software is totally worth it, IMO. This has been an invaluable tool in my music collection.

  • Changing patches on an external keyboard in the middle of a track

I just figured out how to switch banks and patches on my external keyboard, which is a Kawai MP8II, from within Logic Pro. I would like to know if it is possible to switch patches in the middle of a track. How do I send a system control message that would accomplish this?

I presume by 'system control' you mean a sysex (system exclusive) message which isn't really necessary at all.
If you want the patch to change, locate the position where you want it to change, press 'pause' and then hit the record button. If you make the change to the program number while its in record mode, then turn off record, even though the transport hasn't moved, the change has been recorded.
    Hope that's what you mean!

  • New iPod Nano Turns off in the middle of any track playing - Apple Bummer

So, I just received my iPod Nano as a replacement to an early generation of iPod Nano's that are subject to recall.  The new Nano has been updated as of 21 Jan 2012.  Songs loaded into iTunes under MAC OS X Lion, iPod Nano synched with my computer, and I'm ready to go.
What - not so fast!  Guess what?  The Nano turns itself off in the middle of any track you play.  I turned the shake and shuffle mode off to make sure that is not it.  And it is fully charged.  I even went through the reset procedures.
So its less than 24 hours new/old so I go for Apple support.  My original iTunes etc accounts are associated with my house in America.  But I live in the UK right now.  So drill through Apple support and guess what?  Well, I live in London so no support is available.  And the Apple web site as usual does not provide much help in making calls.
Apple's web site says there is no coverage on this as it is out of warranty?  24 hours new?  No warranty.  It says it comes with a one year warranty. And Apple UPS'd it to me yesterday.
So question 1 is:  Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?  I hope it isn't operator head space but who knows, maybe it is.
And question 2:  Does anybody have a good 800 number for me to call in the USA?
    Many thanks.

I have the same problem and wondered if it was loosey goosey headphones which were just cheap 10 dollars buds.  So are you saying I should get new ear phones that fit tighter?
That would be my guess....Here is what Apple has to say about the problem.
       http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3700
My guess is that it is a compatibility problem with older or aftermarket ear buds.  My daughter has a 6th generation Nano and does not have this problem but keep in mind she is using the ear buds that came with the 6th Generation Nano.  With the replacement program they are not sending new ear buds.  I just did a test with my daughters 6th Generation Nano using an old set of aftermarket ear buds I had in my desk and I was able to duplicate your issue.  I then used the ear buds from my Iphone 4s and did not have an issue with the Nano going to sleep and the music turning off.

  • HT4314 There is a defect in SpellTower.  I was in the middle of a game of Puzzle Mode on my iPhone and had passed the 63,000  point level.  The game then disappeared without any record.  My wife had a similar problem on her iPad in Tower mode. Fibonacci44

Has anyone else had the following problem with Spell Tower?  I was in the middle of a game in Puzzle mode on my iPhone and had passed the 63,000 point mark. I paused the game (as I had many times before).  When I tried to resume the game, the game had vanished without any record.  My wife had a similar problem in Tower Mode.  In addition, the Apple support page says that, to report an issue, one should click on a specified link at the bottom of the information page for the App in question.  There is no such link on the SpellTower information page.  Fibonacci44

There are two separate issues here.
    1.  There is a potential problem with the game Spelltower.  That needs to be discussed directly with Spelltower.  My attempted emails to Spelltower have been bounced.
    2.  Apple, on its own webpage, purports to establish a procedure for reporting an issue with an app.  But that procedure does not work with Spelltower because someone at Apple neglected to include a link on the relevant information page.  I have been trying to find that contact info without success.  Apple should take ownership of supplying that contact info.

  • I just got a white frame in the middle of my images in viewer mode. What is it and how did it get there and how do i get rid of it.

I just got a white frame in the middle of my images in viewer mode in Aperture 3. What is it and how did it get there and how do i get rid of it?

    Just fishin' ...
Is by any chance "View→Show focus points" checked?
Does the frame persist after closing and re-opening Aperture?
    Notice anything else different?
To post a screen shot, you first take it, them upload it.  To take them, I use and recommend Skitch -- one of the best little apps ever.  But this ability is built into OS X.  Use Grab or Preview (search OS X Help for full directions).  In Preview, use "File→Take screen shot ... →From selection ... ".  Save the file in Preview to your drive.  In the Discussion forum click the "Insert Image" icon (a camera) and select the file you created in Preview.

  • How do I fade down or up (not in and out) in the middle of a track?

Hvae cs5.5--need to fade music down and up in the middle of a track to accomodate speech. Seems like a really basic function but nothing coming up in the help files. Anyone?

There's various ways but search the help for "volume envelopes".  That's probably the easiest.  Basically it involves just clicking on a horizontal line running through the tracks in multitrack view.  You drag the line upwards to increase the volume or down to decrease it--and you can be very precise about the amount of change and timing.  The full procedure is described in details in the online user guide.
The other way would be to use the mixer and the "automation lanes", also described in detail in the help files--but this would likely be more tricky to learn and overkill for your needs.

  • My ipod classic skips in the middle of a song. Any ideas of what I can do?

It's a 80 GB Classic  and when I play certain songs  (Jeff Beck) it skips. I have only used 11.9 GB.

If it's a legitimately unlocked iPhone, you can use it on AT&T or T-Mobile if you like. You can not bring your own iPhone to any CDMA carrier (Verizon, Sprint, etc).
If it was originally sold in the Middle East, Facetime is permanently disabled.

  • Mpd won't resume in the middle of a track

When I stop mpd (/etc/rc.d/mpd stop) the state file (~/.mpd/mpd.state) is created/updated and the contents look to be correct. However, when I start mpd (/etc/rc.d/mpd start) mpd won't start at the same place within the track that is indicated by the state file. The correct track is played, it just always starts at the very beginning of it.
Does anyone know what may cause this? I've looked around but nothing I've tried (re-install, re-do the config from scratch, check permissions) has helped. Oh, and I'm pretty sure this started happening with the last update to 14.1.

  • Can I switch instrument (=patch???) in the middle of a track

I will have a lot of questions in the future so I want to explain and apologize before I ask the question of the day. I make "modern classical" (terrible name) and have been working with Sibelius so the world of the DAWs is rather new for me. Now with Logic I am intrigued by the possibilities of the synthesizers. I am trying to find out how to use them but to start with I use only the existing patches. Seems to be hundreds in total.
    Now the question:
In Sibelius I can switch instruments in a stem. I can, e.g., replace a trumpet with a clarinet for bars 70 to 80. Is it possible in Logic to change the patches (I assume that is the terminology for a synthesizer instrument) in the middle of a midi track using key switches or CCs or do I have to split up the midi track into several using one for each patch?
Example: I use EFM1 with "Harmonic Keys". Now I want to use "Heavens Harp" in bars 70 to 80. Can I do this with only one track or do I have to split the track?
I think I asked the questions twice.
    Leander

    Hi,
it's the most convenient and simple way to split the track and have two synths running. However, you could automate the synth if you only change some aspects of the sound like sweeping a filter or turning oscillators on or off or something like that. A complete patch change is best done by transferring the part of the MIDI data to another track with the new patch. You could try to assign the patch change command to a MIDI controller and record it into the performance (don't know if this works - just a thought of mine). But i won't recommend this, since it would introduce more issues than it resolves.

  • Why does my itunes keep making songs skip in the middle of playback?

I have just got a new laptop HP DV6157EA laptop and when i try to play tracks on itunes it will sometimes skip the track every 3 seconds or so.I have made sure that the computer isnt running anything else when im playing my track and the same thing still occurs. I have also tried deleting the tracks and reimporting the cd.Does anyone know how to rectify this problem? (should have stuck with a macbook!)

Not a computer issue but a itunes issue.
I tried this and it helped.
To get to the Task Manager go:
CtrlAltDel then "Task Manager" then go to the "Processes" tab.
Locate "iTunes.exe" Right-Mouse click to "Set Priority" then choose "High".
    Hope that helps.
still skips if I move mouse.

  • Half the song played then iPod on iPhone skips to next song

I see there is a post on "Half the Music Played" posted eariler. My problem is similar, but doing a re-sync and a boot do not fix the issue. This is happening on mutiple songs. Here is what I have done so far. Removed all music from the iPhone after having Synced my entire library to the iPhone last night. Manually synced only the one ablum back onto the iPhone - Same problem occurs on the same track, other tracks play all the way through. I then listened to the track on the iPhone while attached to iTunes (controled by iTunes) and it plays correctly all the way through. Plug in the headphones and detach from iTunes, play the song skips in the middle to the next song. Rebooted the iPhone - Same problem. The album in question (there are more) but I am focusing only on this one is an MP3 Imported into iTunes the other day from a burned CD. It was originally purchased through Rhapsody (Protected Real Audio format) that is way I have switched to iTunes, but that's another topic. Once burned to CD (Audio CD Format) and imported to iTunes the album is now in MP3 format. Plays fine from iTunes Library, from iPhone while attached to iTunes, only plays half through using iPod Allication on iPhone.
    Any ideas?

One thing to try is to convert the song to an aac format.
Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.
