Sky atlantic / on demand

In the opening post, you say you subscribe to the Family Pack?

I subscribe to Sky Atlantic as part of the family package.  I do not subscribe to the HD channel. I want to download episode 1 of The Tunnel, as I have the rest of the series already recorded, but it will not let me download, it is telling me that I have to upgrade and subscribe to the family channel.  Why is the happening, I can download all other Sky Atlantic programmes, but not this one. Thanks

  • Band of brothers sky atlantic eps 1&2 on demand???

I missed e0s 1 & 2 of band of brothers on sky Atlantic. Will it be available on demand as I can't see it there?

I can't see the episodes either so it looks like you have missed them via catch up as well (as catch up content is only available for a short period of time after they have been aired). Sky Atlantic do appear to be showing this series quite a bit so there might be a chance you might not have to wait to long before the entire series is shown again but if and when this might be is pretty impossible to find out I'm afraid.

  • HH2 & Sky wireless On Demand box loss of connectio...

I used to have no trouble downloading via Sky On Demand using the wireless box back to a Home Hub 2.
Virtually every time we try & download via On Demand it fails after a while resulting in my other wireless items (tablet) losing connection. My main PC is wired.
When i go in the Sky settings it reads:
    Connection to Broadband Router OK
    Connection to On Demand FAIL
Running a cable from router to Skybox is not an option although i do have one of those powerline extenders for use with my Smart TV.
    Why does this happen?
Did wonder if there is not a fix to use the powerline extender used for my Smart TV to connect to Skybox instead as we rarely use Smart TV functions.
Just desperate to be able to use On Demand again

If the two are next to each other, then simply add a cheap Ethernet switch at the end of the powerine adapter link, as shown in this example here.

You will have four ports you can use, so you connect the TV and the Sky box, and still have two spare ports.

  • Sky store/on demand

Does anybody know when roughly new films come out on Sky Movies premier or on demand, there doesn't seem to be any general rule so is there a way of checking particular films? Non-Stop came out beginning of last year and there is no sign of it on Premier yet and is still to rent in sky store! Into The Storm came out last August and is already on Premier so do certain films just not get on Premier? Reason i ask is because my Wife was wondering when 50 Shades of Grey will be on Premier.any advise will be good.

It all boils down to what agreements Sky has in place with the various film studios as to when and if films appear on Sky Movies Premier. Sky haven't got agreements with all the film studios and their films which is why some films have never appeared on Premier but do show up on other channels like Channel 4 or Film 4.

  • On demand games of thrones s2

Watched games of thrones s1 and went onto on demand to watch s2 and nothing there. Why is this!! When it's up to s5 on Atlantic. This should not be on box set. When it not a box set. Or shouldn't be on demand. When it's only 1 series. That's like dangling a carrot is it not. Not happy and will be in contact by phone. To cancel!!!

The box set was available until 29th May and due to rights issues Sky can not currently show it because Sky doesn't have the rights which would allow them to show these box sets for 365 days of the year so shows like this come and go.
Sky Atlantic are currently showing the series and the first episode from series 2 is on Sunday 26th July at 22.10 with episode 2 the following Saturday and so on.

  • Can't download certain on-demand Sky1 programs, says I need to upgrade (but it's on my subscription)

Hi I tried to download/watch "The last ship S1 ep10" from ondemand (sky 1) normal SD version - a banner pops up and says I need to upgrade to watch this. I have Sky 1 as part of my subscription and can download most other Sky 1 on-demand programs no problem - but sometimes certain programs/series will state I need to upgrade to 'family'. Please help.

I agree this is not fair, and yes sky making more money i think if the series is still going, it should not be put into the sky box sets until at least it has finished for a few months, i remember when you could get sky box free when you added the internet, one of their great ways to add your router it was all free, and slowly they are taking it away, i wanted to record esp 1 of a series just started on sky 1 and i cant, cause they have already put it in sky box, this is so stupid, i have been with them for many years and have multi room, i have told them what they charge is enough and i will not pay extra for hd etc, they way this is going i will be looking elsewhere and dumping sky

  • Fix low volume output on Sky HD Boxes

Here a suggestion for you. Why dont you fix the low volume out on the Sky HD boxes? Loads of people have complained about it. Do something about it.

I have finally found a very cost effective solution to this problem.  Cancelled Sky subscription and got Freesat with a Humax box.  This does not have the fault that the Sky HD boxes have.  In fact it has an "on the remote" volume control, and when this is turned to max the volume is exactly as it should be.  The volume control works both the HDMI and the analogue outputs.  Additionally there is also a mute button on the remote, again muting both outputs.  Perfect.  Cost effective because since I have been a Sky subscriber for over a decade, now cancelled, assuming I would have stayed with them for another decade I have saved myself £4121 including the initial cost of the Freesat box.  Quite a shocking amount of money that I will be saving, having calculated it.  Shame on Sky for not correcting this software issue when it was first reported by many users, especially as the volume function used to be there and they removed it.  For those thinking of doing the same as me, the Freesat / Freetime system is excellent, the EPG is as good as Sky and the "roll back" TV aspect of the EPG far superior to that of Sky.  Picture quality is at least as good (probably better as box is Full HD)  The BBC iplayer implementation is also not the "cut down" version thst Sky have also implemented (another software short cut that bugged me), i.e. it is the same as you'd see on your PC / smart TVs with FULL programme content.  What you don't get is Sky Atlantic but since I never watched this in over a decade made no difference to me.

  • Wrong Speed on Sky GO Stream and Poor Customer Ser...

    Hello,
After starting with BT Option 1, I slowly starting exceeding my 10GB limit and after this happened 2 months running then I decided to upgrade to Option 3. This reason behind my exceeding of 10GB was that I was running Sky Go which was great for Sky Atlantic and Sky Sports. It ran extremely fast and whilst on Auto always pulled in well above the 2MB required. Since upgrading it has mostly run at 0.4MB and won't play more than 6 secs before buffering being required. The max I have received is 1.4MB which is still not enough to live stream. When it is at 0.4MB then I can barely run BBC iPlayer or a YouTube video. 3 phone calls to BT and 3 line tests, yep thats fine, I knew that because I've been into my router settings and it tells me. 2 time, please change ADSL and that hasn't worked. I've done everything and on my 4th attempt tonight it is now BT's system down and they can't run a line check. I don't need a line check I need an engineer to look at it! I can't run a BT Broadband test or use desktop help as the computer is a MAC. It is no better running wired or wireless and so I'm completely stumped. I've even played the audio down the phone to show how it breaks up every 6 secs and buffers. Why oh Why oh Why do BT just keep trying the same thing everytime, I'm not an idiot and nothing they can do software or settings can fix it. It must either be my line or my router, it needs an engineer to test that the master line in the house is accepting an 8MB signal or if my router is faulty. £28 a month and line rental and I now can't stream anything to get me over 10GB so why did I even bother upgrading. To top it off, if I'm not happy with the service and want to leave I'm tied into a 2 year contract and can't, it's basically "please give us loads of money, we won't really help you and then when you can't take it anymore we'll remind you your stuck for 2 years".
I really do hope that someone at BT reads this and thinks to themselves, I'd hate it if my family or friends were really struggling with their broadband and I'd love to do something to help and actually get it fixed so they can enjoy the item they pay £500 ish a year for. I don't want a miracle, I never shout at the advisors and I don't feel I'm sking for much except the product I purchased. If this was a physical item, I could return it to a store but it's not an item, it's a service and it's just as much my duty to honour your contract as it is for you to provide what you promised.
Right rant over, I feel 1% better for the 3 call backs I've never had and I'm waiting with fingers crossed for the BT Angel to call me and go "Don't worry Sir, we'll have an engineer round shortly and they won't go until they can see every new spec of hair on Wayne Rooney head for at least 20 secs without buffering. I'll make him/her a cracking cup of tea and even give him/her a £20 and some beers for the joy I will have watching Premier League football!

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

  • Can I tailor my own Sky package?

Hi. I feel I am paying for a lot of channels I don't watch. Several sport channels, music channels etc. Essentially all I need is a couple of the movie channels, sky sports 4 for the golf, disney jr and maybe sky atlantic - all channels in HD. Particularly would like to lose sky sports as not a huge football fan and feel I'm paying others to watch the premiership football. Can I choose my own pack rather than the whole bundle?

T hanksHave you considered NOW TV? It lets you have just the main entertainment channels for, I think, £6.99 per month and that includes atlantic. You can also buy one-off week passes to sky sports to watch the golf on SS4.

  • No satellite signal on certain channels after changing boxes - getting nowhere with sky help

So I got a new sky box from sky and have been getting the No Satellite signal message on certain channels (i.e. Sky1 HD, Sky Atlantic and Sky Sports) since I changed the boxes. I have tried all the suggestions in the online help as well as through the call centre  personnel who just repeat the same thing over and over. Can anyone please assist? To get things started: 1.  Yes, the viewing card was paired.2. The input signals show OK for any channel that is possible to view. When you look at the input signal details for a non-working channel then Input 1 shows as NOT LOCKED and input 2 as OK.3. Communal dish and no problems in other flats.

It might be local interference.  You'll have to switch off any wireless equipment in the room,  and especially a wireless router,  cordless phone base station and anything else that radiates signals. You should also unbundle ( if applicable ) your dish Input cables from anything else behind the box, in particular power leads. If you're using the white,  pre-moulded cables from the likes of Homebase,  B&Q etc,  it might be an idea to replace them with good quality,  double-screened cabling such as WF100 which you can buy online. Are you able to borrow someone else's HD box to test in your flat,  or are you able to check out your own box on a non-communal setup?

  • SNR Increase after power cut

    Hi
We incurred a power cut early on Monday morning after the overnight gales and rain on Sunday.
When the router restared after the power came back on my connection speed had dropped from 4mb to 2.5mb and my download SNR ratio had increased from around 6db to 12 to 13db. Just wondered if this is a norman occurance after a power cut and is my SNR going to return to around 6db on its own (and therfore my connection speed increase) or do I need to contact BT to have it reset?

    Hi NeilO
I used the link to 'contact the Mods' on Monday dinnertime and received an automated reply saying I would be contacted in 24 to 48 hours. As of now I am still waiting for a reply and as you see below, am still stuck on a downstream SNR of 12.6db which has reduced my connection speed by nearly half. It has been around this mark now since 6th Oct 14.
Can you give my any indication on how my case is progressing as I also cannot connect to Sky's On Demand service wirelessly and don't want to mess around with my router until my speed increases.

  • Missed first few episodes on Game of thrones season. 1

Have seen Game of thrones season 1 is on Sky Atlantic now but have missed the first episodes. Why is it not on the catch up? It says I need to upgrade. Will they repeat these again as do not want to upgrade

Game of Thrones Series 1 is part of Sky Box Sets so you would need to be subscribing to the Family Bundle before getting access to them.

  • Game of thrones seasons 2-5????

Hi, I am new to Sky & have recently purchased the family bundle, really excited about catching up on season 5 of GOT but it is not there  I am off work following an op & have been really looking forward to watching this, even telling the Sky staff that I have spoken to, who have failed to mention that it wouldn't be possible....Does anyone know why it isn't there?

Box sets for shows like Game of Thrones are only available for a limited time then they are removed because Sky Atlantic doesn't have the rights to them to be shown this way. As this is a popular show I think it is fair to say that they will return sometime but it is impossible to know when this will be I'm afraid.
