Sky box issue

Once every few days I will put my sky on from stand-by.
My channels don't show up and say I have signal issues.
I check my signal and my 2 imput is not on and the signal lock is also not showing.
I can only watch tv if I remove power from the sky box and fully restart it.
That's not a form of entertainment if I have to keep going through this every time which is extremely hard for me as I am a wheelchair user and can't do anything unless I have someone come over to fix it.
Could someone please help?
I've done a tv guide refresh and deleted old stuff and also deleted all past deleted programmes.
I've even spoke to people on the phone and they think everything is perfect fine everytime i restart it so they are much help in the long run.

It could be the result of a box fault, or an installation problem - LNB (especially if it's more than 5 years old) or cabling. Replacing the box with a second hand one from ebay or gumtree (or similar) might be an option, or arrange a callout from Sky who will check your setup end to end (and provide 3 months warranty).

  • BT Sport not working on my sky box

    Hi
I registered for BT Sport at the beginning of July, and it has been activated, i know this cause I can access it on my phone, and computer, however it is not working on my sky box, I presume that the card no is wrong.
I have phoned the call centre but unfortunately they cant help me, they don't seem to understand my problem, and they told me to unplug my bt vision box, and when I said I have not got a bt vision box, he said he couldn't help me.
Could one of the mods look into this for me please
    Thanks

I have spent most of the afternoon to find out why I keep getting the "wrong card" message on my freesatfromsky box and have got absolutely no where so far
The "help" message on the bt sport page says call BT - you do this and after being passed around for over an hour I finally gor through to someone who said that I was set up on the BT system so it's down to sky !!! Oh, and by the way, BT you never rang me back when you said you would!
Tried ringing them and all lines were busy - maybe a few others had the same issue ???
What a farce, will try again later once I've calmed down...

  • Sky+ box conection to ipad

My sky+ box loses conection with my iPad on an almost daily basis. If I turn off  the box from the mains then reconnect my sky+ box then works fine. But this only lasts 36 hours at the most. Is there an easy rectification? I think this only started from the last software update. many thanks neathy01

I never said that the router is the cause of the problem. Something is happening to the connection between the Sky box and the router, causing the issue that you have - it's trying to get to the bottom of what the problem actually is that is the difficult bit - made even more difficult by the intermittent nature . I'm on BT broadband, using the BT home hub, and I don't have any such issues with connectivity, so your router not being a Sky router should make no difference whatsoever. Am I correct to assume that the actual wifi connection  is fine on the ipad and it is able to access the internet without issue - it's just when you try to connect to the Sky box that you see a problem? If so, that, and the fact that a reboot of the Sky box resolves the problem would tend to suggest that the problem is coming from the Sky box end rather than your router. Is there any kind of pattern as to when the problem occurs? Any particular time of day?just before, during, or just after doing some particular action on the box for instance?

  • Connecting sky+ box to my 20inch display

The subject kind of says it all really.
Basically I see the flow going like this:
Signal comes out of sky box on a scart -> Convert cable to dvi -> plug into display card that is on back of computer.
I really dont think it can be that simple!
But there are a few different things i have been thinking.....
    1. Do I need a video/tv card to plug the sky box into?
    2. As the output of the box is scart can I just get a cable to convert it to dvi, and plug it in?

    Hello,
I doubt you can find a connection to go between the iBook and Sky Box.
Unless the Sky Box is Wireless  and you can connect to it via your iBook network settings.
Even then, what playback software would be available for your PPC iBook to play back these programs.
Does Sky even permit programs being copied from their boxes to computers?

  • Sky Box Goes Into Standy

When I turn  off my TV using the remote control for my TV it also puts the sky box into standby. Is there anyway to prevent this? It never used to do this.

I assume that you mean that you are watching TV via the BT Vision box?
How is the TV connected to the BT Vision Box, SCART or HDMI?
If its SCART, are you using the correct SCART output at the back of the box?

  • BT Sport through Sky Box question?

I am thinking of getting BT broadband so I get the free BT Sport HD through my Sky box.
My question is do I need a Sky subscription for it to work?
I am now out of subscription but my sky box still works and I have my viewing card number still..
    Thanks

I can answer that in this miasma of confusion. You don't need a Sky sub. You won't be able to record of course.

  • SKY Box to TV Tuner

Can someone please help, i have installed the card and software and have connected an rf cable from the SKy box to the CATV input on the tv tuner. When i auto scan, i can't get any channels, what is the correct setup?
    Any help or suggestion appreciated.

it won't work that way, as if detected the sky box will only show as one channel (the one it is set to output RF to), same as if you connected a video
even if your sky box was set to RF output, I still don't think it would work due to macrovision protection
however if your sky box has s-video or composite outputs, you could try connecting using those, but whichever way you do it, you still have to manually change channels on the sky box

  • Line Cord Error when connect to Sky+ Box with BT65...

Bought a new Panasonic TV and had to re sort cables took photos and replaced exactly as before. Did connect the new TV to splitter that works fine.
BT 6500 shows Line Cord error as soon as Sky box connected on own, with micro filter, with splitter. No errors prior to today so wonder if doing something daft.
We have 3x 6500s in house is it REN related? But as worked previously a bit odd.
Extension socket behind TV to micro filter - to spliter as before. Plug in cable to SKY plus box and get a line chord error showing on handset. Disconect and fault goes but noticed this fault reported on many forums BT, Virgin ....ANY advice welcome.

make sure you have connected the cable to Sky box into correct port.... the sky box has 2... an ethernet port for a cat5 cable ( rj45 bigger port ) and an rj11 port for the phone cord.... the problem is this will fit in both!! but if connected to the ethernet port it will put a loop on line and cause fault on phone line...

  • Sky + box

    Hi
My grandparents gave decided they don't want Sky anymore and will just use the Freeview on their TV. My parents want Sky+ but can't afford the extortionate extra cost per month to get a Sky + box. Can my parents just have my grandparents box, have the double cable put in and just start using it with their viewing card?

Yes they can, once the box is installed go to Activate channels (pair viewing card)

  • BT infinity home hub 5 not seeing sky box & no ond...

    hi,
On the 18/12/14 I joined BT infinity 1 with a home hub 5 router. I was prevouisly with SKY broadband and had ondemand.
The sky+ box has a wired connection to the router as it doesn't have wi-fi, however the sky box under network option says fail. Also my home hub 5 is not showing the sky box under home network - devices.
Is there any  way to fix this please?
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

ok nevermind fixed the problem. Just tried a different lan cable (which happen to be the one I got with the HH5). Any ideas why that fixed the problem? cos i'm fairly sure it was working before infinity when I was with sky BB.
    cheers

  • New TV with no scart and Sky+ box with no HDMI

Hi,  I have a new TV which only has 2 x HDMI outlets and 1 USB port.  My Sky+ box has no HDMI output!!  I've tried looking on Google etc for scart to HDMI leads but apparently they don't exist.  The only thing I can seem to find is a converter box.  When I spoke to the people I bought the TV from they told my Sky would upgrade my box lol!!   Any suggestions/help please.  Thanks

Phone up Sky or visit the upgrade section (http://www.sky.com/shop/customer-shop/box-upgrade/) to find out how much Sky want for a new Sky+HD box. Usually if you haven't had a discounted HD box before, your eligible for one. Although it may require some form of commitment such as a new minimum term.
If Sky are asking too much money for a new HD box just buy one second hand, there's loads on eBay. Aim to get a DRX890 or DRX895 Sky+HD box. Don't buy a Sky+HD box made by Thomson, there obsolete.
If you really want to keep your current box you would need a Scart to HDMI converter. It's impossible to do it with just a lead. But a converter could cost the same or more than a second hand HD box.
